Given the surprising number of apps which don't natively support landscape orientation, coupled with the propensity to use the Pixel C in landscape due to the keyboard, Rotation Locker has become essential for me.
Pretty solid lists so far. Only things I'd feel obligated to add:
Termux is a super solid terminal environment / Linux environment. Much more useful than Linux CLI in my experience, but it's not necessarily trying to replace your homescreen as a launcher (though you could use it pretty extensively with the API functions, and it also has widget support if you pay) so they're kinda doing different things.
Also, Rocker Locker is really handy given most people probably want to adjust media volume more often than notification volume on tablets.
I'm the dev of this app, here's a link if anyone else is interested in trying it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farmerbb.taskbar
It really goes a long way towards giving the Pixel C a more desktop-like feel.
I ordered a very, very similar case from Amazon, but it was branded Moko instead of Finite. The cases are identical from what I can see.
I'm sorry if I'm being dense, but what's the problem? What do you mean by Assistant Go? What are you saying this iPad version is that the Android version isn't?
Since you said you want to write HTML, you could try AIDE Web, which is not only a text editor but provides a bunch of useful tools for web development.
Region shouldn't be effected with the check for update button :S
Check if your play services is upto date on your phone (or opt into it's beta) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.gms&hl=en_GB
I get updates on my tablet as soon as they're available now by pressing the check for update button
As long as you don't need to rely on the actual letters printed on the keyboard, you can use any physical keyboard layout and remap it (provided there are enough keys).
For example, I have the UK Pixel C keyboard, but want to type in Bulgarian. There is no built-in way to type in Cyrillic, so I use External Keyboard Helper which lets you map any key to produce any letter. There aren't enough letter keys in the UK keyboard to cover all Cyrillic characters I need, so I also remap some of the symbol keys. I use Alt+Shift to switch between Cyrillic and English.
You could easily do something similar for Swedish - it will be even easier since you only need to remap a few of the symbols.
My best guess is that you broke your keyboard inductive charger circuit (on the tablet itself), therefore the battery of your keyboard is flat and you can't connect to it. If you are able to connect via bluetooth, check the battery level with my app
Unfortunately I'm not in your area :(
Yeah, it should work fine, although I've only tested it with a DisplayLink dock and not a standalone adapter.
Note that you'll need the DisplayLink Desktop app installed as well in order for it to work.
Apps don't run in draggable windows by default, however, you can enable this by installing Taskbar and enabling freeform mode within the app.
CF.Lumen all day every day. Allows you to adjust the color temperature, what color ranges you want to disable (for example you can make everything only rendered in shades of red, no blue or green whatsoever, or shades of blue or green and no red if you like your eyes bleeding). Used to use F.Lux but on my Pixel C running Remix OS it randomly snaps off when a notification pops up and it's basically like a flashbang at night. I'd recommend rooting to get the best experience, but it's not required. Plus it's a Chainfire app, and you can enable pro features without paying for it because Chainfire is an amazing guy.
I like Rotation Locker for its simplicity. You launch it, it displays a dialog with three options, which you can long-press to enable persistent mode;
It also includes a Tasker/Locale plugin so you can automate the rotation switch based on different profiles.
This Kensington dock is the one that I can confirm works with the N9 (and should work with the Pixel C). Theoretically anything that uses the DisplayLink standard should work though if you can find a cheaper dock.
You'll also want a USB-C male to USB-A female adapter that's at least USB 3.0 (a 2.0 one won't give you the performance you need for video).
Finally, you'll need the DisplayLink app.
The landscape issue can be solved using this app which forces apps to go landscape even if they weren't designed to. It works flawlessly with a lot of portrait only apps.
although i don't know if this app would be of any help to what you want to do i mention the app external keyboard helper because i also wanted to remap a few things and it helped me.

Im sorry! I was at work all day yesterday!
Try this one from Android 8.1
the one's made specifically for the new macbooks SHOULD work but I haven't tested them yet. Just browse the reviews to see if anyone mentions the pixel c by name. I think the thing sold better than we seem to think here in this subreddit because I see enough mentions in the world to think google did ok on them.
Android Central recommends this device so at least it's tested working. Haven't used it personally There doesn't seem to be any charging on that though.
I just bought this thing. XDA community seem to like it alright for pixel C compatibility and pass through charging. It's originally designed for the macbook. It looks like a beast and I might need an extension cord for it or something. We'll see.
What are you exactly looking for? Did you reply to the wrong person?
If you're looking for the intelliARMOR tempered glass screen protector, it's $15 on Amazon.
I don't really use an actual case, but for carrying it around I use one of these bags
Holds the tablet /w keyboard attached in the "tablet" pocket, with plenty of room for some wireless headphones, bluetooth game pad, battery pack, charging cable, and whatever other little random things I might want on me like a bottle of water or whatnot. Works pretty well.
I just got mine and am blown away with the battery life so far. If you're not going to be buying the keyboard, I suggest purchasing the Moko case. It protects the back (although I wish there was an iPad smart cover equivalent) and gives you two positions for propping up the tablet.
There's also a bunch of sleeves available but the ProCase stands out the most to me.
There is with an SD card. However, I don't get the option when I go into the menu on my pixelc. Link to my drive: http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Digital-64GB-Traveler-DTDUO3C/dp/B010HWCFDA?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00. I like it so far. Was about as cheap as any I could find. I will likely lose it at some point, because it is so small.
This is one of the better cases for the pixel C:
I'm probably going to end up going with an iPad case as you suggested, there just aren't many premium sleeves/cases for android devices >:(
In the meantime, I grabbed this
To be honest, it gets the job done better than anything else I've seen, and it's probably more practical than a sleeve.
I know this isn't exactly what you're looking for, but here's what I use. It stands, but it does have a back. May be worth trying if you can't find anything else.
Plus it's cheap.
I have a Dash and this screen protector, no problems.

Tough to see but the sides have more covered with cutouts for the speakers and buttons. I am at work but I can try to get some pics of mine later
I have used http://www.amazon.com/Nexus-Pixel-Case-Ultra-Slim-Ultra-light/dp/B016C0ZACY/ and am a big fan. I actually lost the first one because I was connected the keyboard (you have to take the case off) and ordered a new one immediately.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019BLYQT4/
I got this one and have been very impressed for the price. The price was so low I almost didn't bother but the reviews convinced me to try. It's not a slim case by any means but it does the job well and I am very satisfied unless/until something fabulous shows up.
I've had it for two weeks now and have traveled with it once and it's done great.
The mouse is 'normal' when connected to my phone (Sony Xperia Z Ultra GPE). It is similar to a desktop/laptop experience. In fact, I had to turn the pointer speed down a bit.
The difference is big enough for me to test more devices.
My laptop and Nexus 10 can't even "see" the Microsoft Designer mouse (laptop: Windows 10). After researching, it seems the MS mouse uses bluetooth 4.0. I don't have any other compatible devices.
I dug out the old bluetooth mouse I used to use with my Nexus 10. I cracked the case by keeping it in my backpack w/o any type of protection, so I bought the MS mouse to replace it. I connected it to the PixelC and....
...it feels 'normal'. Well, it felt normal after I turned down the pointer speed. They don't sell it on amazon anymore, but here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004RC27HQ
Sure, it's a cheap Amazon cover that I got here.(I added the portal decal myself) Here's some pictures of it.
Not a sleeve case, but I just picked up one of these, and the tablet section is the perfect fit.
Great for carrying the tablet (with keyboard), charger, and a few odds and ends I like having with me while out in meatspace, like a bottle of water, battery pack for my phone, kindle, etc, without being quite as bulky as a full-on backpack or something.
My wife has the Amazon Basics 10-inch sleeve, and it's a poor fit. You can't argue with a $4.00 price! Please let us know how well it works.
I have this case for my Asus Flip. It's a little bulky, but works nicely. I may stick with it until I find something more to my liking.
I will be getting this soon for my solution for extra storage:
Kingston Digital 64GB Data Traveler Micro Duo USB 3C Flash Drive (DTDUO3C/64GB) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010HWCFDA/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_ZSSAwb31VPXV5
This is probably what you're looking for. It works great on my 6P, but I have yet to try it on the Pixel C. Mine's coming in today so I'll definitely update you about it!
I preordered this one, Amazon has always been really good to me about returns and refunds but hopefully this one won't suck.
I've been looking at some on Amazon but haven't pulled the trigger on any yet. The Amazon Basics model seems like it will be a little snug based on the dimensions, but it is hard to argue with that price.
edit: Actually, I went ahead and ordered this sleeve. I like the design of a flap vs a zipper, and it's only $4 so I don't mind taking a chance. The dimensions seem like it will be fine with the keyboard.
Saw a thread the other day and decided to buy this one. A bit small but I like it so far. Very easy to connect and use. I have a macbook pro so I use the mouse for both. If you only need it for the tablet maybe you could find a cheaper one. But be careful, since I heard the device won't work with mice using older BT versions, but I could be wrong.
I have a similar one that I'll try out when my Pixel C arrives. I'm pretty sure USB OTG is supported out of the box with marshmallow, though, so it should work.
If you are having Keyboard problems I recommend External Keyboard Helper:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apedroid.hwkeyboardhelperdemo https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apedroid.hwkeyboardhelper
You can also use it to setup text strings e.g when I type Ctrl+...+g it types out my gmail address
I developed an app called Taskbar that has a "hidden" feature that will give you exactly what you're looking for. One of the features of the app is the ability to override the search key on the Pixel C's keyboard to bring up the app's start menu while it's running. However, since it has to override Google Now as the search assistant, I also built the feature to pop up the Google search bar overlay when the app is not running.
So, download the app, enable the keyboard shortcuts feature, set Taskbar as the assist app, and boom. You don't even have to use the app itself (although it is quite useful on the Pixel C)
The HDMI adapter is using a DisplayLink chip (you need an app installed). It only mirrors the main display, but it has a flawless low latency picture. Much quicker than chromecast.
I might recommend keeping an eye on the humble store and an ear out for mobile bundles. I've bought a few of their mobile bundles based on having heard of / wanting at least one title and managed to get a number of good ones that I never would have known about. It's a great way to build a library of premium titles on the cheap if you're not, say, an Amazon Prime subscriber.
Recently, I've enjoyed my time with Evoland and This War of Mine from their last mobile bundle. I haven't tried the other titles from that bundle but I've certainly got my 7$ worth already.
It's not as simple as getting an ota while rooted. You need to use the App flashfire.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.flash
It's certainly many more steps, and not the easiest thing, but it's better than flashing images every time there is an ota.
There isn't a BT based stylus for Android. I can recommend an app that can do palm rejections (You have to turn it on).
EDIT: Just in case the bot doesn't work. (Link here)
Linkme: Inkredible
It requires root, but Droidmote Server and Client will do what you're looking for. I used to use this with my Nexus Q to control it running a custom ROM.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.videomap.droidmoteserver
Both the Dash and the alt-Jot Pro I linked to both worked very well; unfortunately, it's the lack of palm rejection that had me return both of them. I tried out INKredible, but it was pretty bad with rejection.
An app on the play store downloads the daily bing wallpaper and sets it as the wallpaper. I don't use bing for very much but it works really well and the photos are usually good.
I was going to say I didn't have my tablets here then remembered I could log into the APP Store and look!

I have this same dimming issue. I downloaded a dimmer app (link below) to make the screen darker manually. I noticed it has a setting where it reports the brightness in units of lux. On my nexus 5x, the reported brightness value changes fairly slowly and is reasonable. On my pixel C, I see the number changing so fast I can't read it, maybe 20 different values in one second, and I can tell that some of the values are unreasonable (I think I saw 91 lux in a dark room). I tried McChen's solutions, and it worked for me briefly I think (hadn't installed dimmer to see the values), but it is glitching again. I'm sure the craziness of the brightness reading is confusing the automatic dimmer function. I wonder if it could also be confusing something else that is causing these touchscreen issues.

Can you check for me if you can use NVIDIA SHIELD Hub or if it's incompatible... I don't have a Pixel C to be able to try it with and I'd prefer to avoid third-party solutions like moonlight if I can. It's a Tegra based chip, so I'm hoping it's compatible.
