I like the Creative Options Thread Organizer. They are marketed to craft stores but these cases hold 48 cars. Each side has a double-sized slot which will hold the bigger ones like Hiway Hauler. The price on Amazon jumps between $7 and $11.
I hope they make a whole bunch of vintage monster trucks.
USA-1, Monster Vette, Rolling Thunder just to name a few.

There is a new hot wheels display case that just came out, holds 50 cars.
Hot Wheels Display Case https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079QPLZBN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_tHdQBb4FBPX1Q
Ratail is $50.
If you can't find it perhaps a nice display box or case?
Great materials to have for starting out with detailing cars:
These cases are sold on Amazon. I believe its the only place to get them. It includes a special Chevy Silverado that some collectors want. Can be set on a desk or mounted on the wall. I love these.

Link to the page. It is available for ordering again, with an expected in-stock date of early October.
Use thumb tacks, like the plastic ended ones. Then hang them by the hook. It’s really the only way without damaging anything. People use the plastic panel moldings that have a channel in them, and they slide the cards into them, but it ends up destroying the edges of the cards. Example of what not to do, here.
These are pretty common in Walmart stores. They are usually found with the other Ghostbusters toys in the action figure area instead of the Hot Wheels area.

“Thread organizer” is the term. There are quite a few for $30ish, if you actually search “hot wheels case” but if you search Thread Organizer, this comes up for $15

Ross doesn't have a website. Its kind of like an overstock store. My sister says they are 7 inches. She loves a few states away from me so shes shipping them to me. Here's an Amazon Link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CZCK3L7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_ME8C3V0CMP8BA6PHS7TF?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
This, OP. Creative options is available[when they are] at hobby lobby, amazon, craft stores, etc. It's a double-sided thread organizer but holds 48 cars perfectly. Probably need to find them in-store, but remember to use the coupon.
Hey man figured you'd appreciate this link then - it's on sale too!

The set is not $99 as it is listed here. It's not made anymore so that's why it's more expensive on Amazon.
Edit: It was originally, if I recall correctly, about $30.
Also glad I could help with the images! For the cases they're on Amazon and seem pretty popular amongst collectors.

Premium lines are always nice as well: Car Culture is out at WalMart/Target. Pop Culture are cars with pop culture paint jobs.
What I use is Klean Strip spray striper (around $6 a can at home depot), most prefer the gel but the spray works fine for me. Just spray it on around the car, let it do its job for about 20 minutes, then use running water and a wire brush to strip off the paint. Alternately you can use a $1 bottle of 100% acetone nail polish remover from walmart but it takes longer and more effort to strip (but its a must if you just want to remove the tampos).
Sorry, I should have put a link! These are not my designs, they are from Goodson Hobbies. He has a ton of them, here is a link to one. You should be able to get others from there. https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/1-64-hotwheels-or-diecast-wheels-19-22
Adobe has an app that when you point your phone at color, it gives you info. Also, the white logo is hard to find, found this and as a graphic designer, I would suggest tracing the logo in Adobe Illustrator and scaling it. Unless Hot Wheels a Pantone from RWB color chips. APP INFO: https://color.adobe.com/create and click image to upload and find color info
The pictures arent the best but the lighting is kinda terrible in the room at the moment. I will post more pics if I get around to it. Let me know what you guys think! Also, here is a link to the cases I bought: https://tinyurl.com/yclktqro
Believe it or not, this was a completely random find at Walmart! I was floored it survived a whole Saturday’s worth of toy shopping and scalping.
They also had a Power Rangers/NSX in the same scale. I suppose it’s up to you if you want to play wait and see with your local stores or buy online.
FWIW I found it on Amazon for $19.99, just like Walmart.

Yeah, I could see how it's be easier to keep them carded if you don't have a go-to storage system yet. I actually keep my loose cars in big Rubbermaid tote bins, but individually packaged in these 3" x 4" baggies. The plastic is heavier gauge and does an excellent job protecting the cars, and they're just about one size fits all for regular size mainlines and premiums. It's a cost effective setup if you're budget-conscious. I know a lot of people swear by those plastic thread spool organizer cases from craft stores, but the size of my collection makes those not as space efficient, and they can get expensive of you're ordering a bunch. Anyway, just something to consider!

This is the link in case anyone is interested in the display. The pic of mine is two displays , screwed together. Its pretty good quality and sturdy. However, wider cars do not really fit in the groove. My ford gt and some trucks dont fit in the grooves.
I have the cherry wood color in the pic.
Thanks, and yes, I wasn't a fan at first but seeing the Speedtail in silver won me over. Here is the case: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B001IYMCJO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Awesome collection so far! Here's a case/display you can hang onto your wall if you're interested!

The box set is supposed to be an Amazon exclusive according to Hot Wheels' website. It's a relaunch of the first F&F set that came out in 2019 (which I hope they continue for the rest of the sets so I can get them). It's also available again to order on Amazon.
I'm surprised to see it show up in a brick and mortar store - maybe a customer return?
Edit: I've had my loose cars in shoe boxes for a few years, was delighted when my wife found those cases for sale. Fred Meyer/Kroger has them.
Edit: you might not need one now, but it might come in handy later ;)

I actually make them myself. I use Illustrator to create the designs then just print on waterslide decal I bought on Amazon. I'm still getting the hang of measuring/accounting for curvature, so my decals aren't exactly on point yet. Here's the link to the decal paper I got.
We got our 22 month old this one from Amazon for $40. It's got a double booster that can be set to go in the same direction or opposite directions, so we've set up a thin oval loop (probably his favorite). Out can be set up in other more "launching" configurations too. It's... alright. I wish the booster was stronger. Cars can't get through the loops without the rubber band powered assist which makes sending multiple cars through or including them in a looped track rough.
Total Turbo Takeover Track Set [Amazon Exclusive]: https://www.amazon.com/Hot-Wheels-Builder-Takeover-Exclusive/dp/B00IQ8MVMI
They're made by Pioneer Plastics. I got mine on Amazon. You can get them with/without the mirror plate and beveled corners, and in many different sizes. When you apply the mirror plate, offset it just a little so it will be tight against the cover when you close it. I use a dab of mounting putty under the cars to keep them from rolling. And if you stack these cases 9 tall, they will be a bit wobbly and easy to knock over.
They're by Pioneer Plastics. You can get them with/without the bevels around the edges and without the mirror bottom if you want. I got mine on Amazon but they may be cheaper somewhere else.
Shouldnt present too much of an issue but be sure to prime first. That will really show off any issues.
You can also try and clean it out with a dental pick. $8.00 on amazon That could really get into the panel lines and clear it out.
My mom got me a thread organizer case for mine when I was a kid 25 years ago. I needed another one for my sons cars and found the exact one on amazon, it works perfect. Here is the link

Sure, here are the ones I got from Amazon.
I got the idea and item number from this article that I tripped over a couple of days ago.
This is the one I've been using for the past few years... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=se.petersson.inventory
I did just download a new one to try out... it's more complex but I like the layout and the pic quality. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.luckydroid.droidbase Still haven't decided if I like it more or not.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=se.petersson.inventory It's for Android. I really like it. You can add tags (zamac, red edition, etc) pictures, different categories, and change ownership among other features.
I use this android app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=se.petersson.inventory You can add different categories and tags and have pics and such. I've been using it for a few years now and i like it. It was great in the beginning when I couldn't remember what I did or did not buy. Now it's all on my phone
I'm not sure where they all went. Amazon had them individually for like $23 and there was a Track Builder kit for $32, but they're gone. I would buy this track to get one and you get more track to play with
Hot Wheels 50pks are packaged as individual short cards. Target and Amazon have the best price on it. https://www.amazon.com/Hot-Wheels-Basic-50-Pack-Packaging/dp/B003FW0YZG I think you can get TH from these but probably not $TH.
Matchbox has a short card big pack as well but they're not as easy to come across.
Don’t know if anyone else even cares but I was never able to find this a few years back and I didn’t want to pay the $200+ that people were charging. I am stoked they rereleased it.
There is also a 25% off coupon that allowed me to get this down to $60. https://slickdeals.net/f/12142795-target-any-single-toy-sporting-good-or-crafts-activity-kit-item-25-off-exclusions-apply-text-messaging-req?src=SiteSearchV2Algo1

I use a goop called Citristrip. It works great, after removing the body from the chassis I dunk it in there for a few minutes and let it set until I see bubbling. I can usually just wipe off all the paint with ease. I've left the cars in there for several hours to over a day with no real bad side effects.

Best value is go to dollar tree. They have straight, loops, curves, jumps and launcher. Put few tracks together you’ll learn what style track your grandson likes to build. As for Sets they are very hit/miss but I do like the hot wheels stunt can set it’s portable, store everything plus some extra track and a better launcher than dollar tree launcher.
As for layout, that’s half the fun building and designing own creations. One thing I wish I’d known is that those battery powered boosters are bit loud, not bad when you got one going but two or more and can get annoying for those not playing
I don't actually bother with tapping the posts for screws - if I were doing these for sale or for second parties I would, but as these just go into my display case and occasionally for a roll across the desk it's not worth the extra cost and effort for me. Instead I drill them for an interference fit so that the base is a tight snap-fit onto the body, using a 3/16" bit. If a given post needs a little bit more interference, I'll stake it using a small hammer and punch.
If I were using screws, I'd use something like this #2-56 stainless self-tapping
Those who want the 3000GT, Amazon of all places has had it available for a while at $6.49. The others are more expensive/3rd party.
Which one? The 1/64 garage with 3 floors or the 1/24 garages? Well, I mean, to answer that question I got both from Amazon. They’re pretty neat, since you get to assemble them yourself.
Sadly, the other ones are no longer selling it seems
