I know a few of you have PM'd me about the software I'm using for my visual charts and it is OmniGraphSketcher (for Mac) - I've tried to put as much info as I have on my spreadsheets - if you see anything missing that you find of interest please let me know. :)
I have an older version of this omega design. I've had it about 10 years and I still enjoy using it. I find it easy to clean and produces a dry pulp so don't feel like I'm throwing money away. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EXFI1YO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_1152EAMN7FA2BGK0TCE2
I bought the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor from Walmart for $50. It's plastic, but works very well and is easy to clean. Plus, extractor juicers give the best yield.
I have this one, I believe its a newer model of the same juicer and brand new for 150.
When I did my first five day detox, I had to work along with it. My advice...Commence the adventure on your days off..Chances are, you will be pooping like a newborn baby for the first few days...or worse, much worse. Also get yourself a cool graphic lunch box to bring around so you only have to juice once or twice a day, store everything in nice big mason jars. Drink as much as you desire, this isn't supposed to feel like your starving, you should always feel satisfied, in my opinion.
It helped my sanity to stay organized and not feel so overwhelmed. I would make grocery lists for 2 or 3 days that synched with my juice plans
Here's the recipe plan I compiled for five days.
Once you get into a groove I'm sure things will get easier! Good luck! Don't loose hope! When I would get frustrated I would just watch some youtube videos about juicing and find more recipes. Ha.
Also, it helped me to talk about it to my friends a lot. Kind of made me feel accountable. Everyone will usually be encouraging and supportive!
Your gonna feel great.
I bought a slow masticating juicer off Amazon for like 70 back in April, and have used it almost every day and it works great, easy to clean and it was inexpensive.
It's called amazchef slow masticating juicer. Not sure if this is allowed, but here's a link.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0833NB31H/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_qRJ7yqbzITBiY
I bought the Omega J8006 masticating juicer for $300 about six months ago after doing a bunch of research and have been very pleased with it. It's heavy duty and can handle anything I throw in it. My only complaint is the container the juice drips into is small and requires frequent emptying if you're making more than one juice.
When doing research on my options, I found Joe Cross' Reboot website to be helpful, as well as the reviews and comparisons on Amazon.
Thanks! This is a slow juicer bought on Amazon here.
Loving it so far. I knew when looking for one that I wanted one that extracted more nutrients (slow juicer).
Counter tops are granite haha.
I've got this guy. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07K1R4YR6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_U-LhFbAY0005Y. So far so good but I have overheated it by making a large amount of juices. Kale really makes the motor work.
I can do a juice fast without needed to stay home. The main thing I find helpful is to wake up early, drink 2c of juice, hang around enough to let it work through me so I can get peeing and pooping out of the way before I leave the house. If I have to poop a second time that day, it's in the evening.
As for peeing: Places I went before COVID-19 restrictions had bathrooms available and I wasn't peeing more often than I would even if not fasting (as long as I was hydrating well).
Since COVID-19 restrictions reduced bathroom availability, I've pondered how to pee while hiking or otherwise out for an extended time, and talked to friends about it. Guys can pee in a bottle (with a tightly fitting lid!). Women can use (practice in the shower first!) a catcher such as the urine catcher below that we got for my mother when she was too bed-bound to use a bedside commode (Female Portable Urine Catcher at Amazon) and transfer the output into a leak-proof container if traveling. A friend uses a She Wee type device, which just directs the urine stream while standing but doesn't capture it.
Amazon sells these and i highly recommend

This has been working out pretty well for me. And I love juicing the tits out of some pineapple
I recently bough my first entry level slow juicer. It’s the Omega Cold Press 365 vertical. It’s a little more than your price range at $149 but it’s well worth it. I will never buy another centrifugal juicer after using a slow juicer. There are pro’s and con’s to using each kind of juicer. Whatever juicer you choose, good luck and happy juicing.
if you don't want to buy a commercial juicer, you would think about a new juicer technology which has bigger chute and more powerful motor than Omega slow juicer.
i know a new juicer on Amazon, it has 81mm chute and 1 more chute than other slow juicers, so that you can raise your juicing speed much more higher.
this new juicer design is learning from hurom cold press juicer

now it's prime day, good luck, wish i can help you.
i bought Sifene Slow Juicer Classic with 30usd coupon on Amazon, it's manufactured from the same factory of Omega H3000D.
I read this - Wirecutter juicer reviews - and went with their top pick - the Omega VSJ843.
Looks like it's normally $480, but on Amazon right now the Red one is $399.95 and there is a $59.99 coupon - making it $339.96 +tax.
I'm totally new to the juicer scene but I fell in love with a juice recently (apple, ginger, beet) and I really love green juices - can't wait to make my own.
Mine will arrive tomorrow so I can't vouch for it yet, but I generally trust Wirecutter recommendations. Wanted to share the sale price + coupon information too in case anyone finds this useful
These are the ones I bought, but there's a ton of options on Amazon if you type in "fermenting mason jar lids". They all work the same. It's not perfect but it keeps the juice pretty well throughout the week.
AIEVE Fermentation Lids, 6 Pack Mason Jar Fermenting Lids with Extractor Pump and Sauerkraut Pounder Fermenter Lids Fermentation Kit for Wide Mouth Mason Jars to Make Sauerkraut, Kimchi, Pickles https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SFLDZRS/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_5TZTK4EEY9BAKP188S65
This is what I use. Cheap and extremely effective.
I have a citrus hand juicer that I use for my first drink of the day. It's quick, easy and clean up is no problem.
I juice one orange and dilute that juice with water. This "first drink" really helps get my digestive system going in many ways. Diluting it with water keeps it from being too sweet to start out with, and gives me more to drink.
I looked for new hand citrus juicers on Amazon but it seems no one is making them the right size.
Mine is this one (This not my sale--I'm not selling mine) and the dimensions are about 7.75 from spout tip to other end of handle, 2 inches high at rim, 3.5 inches high overall, and 6.5 inches wide not including spout and handle.
The reason dimensions are important because many on Amazon are undersized. Be sure to read reviews before buying.
Also, I've seen stainless steel ones that looked good.
I use Veggie Wash with a vegetable brush.
Diets don't have to be diets. You can lose weight by literally eating nothing but twinkies. The key to any successful loss of weight is moderation, consistency and a little self control. I think this is worth saying here:
Getting fit is not a bootcamp. It's a lifestyle.
Instead of going crazy on a juice fast, add juicing into your morning routine a few times a week. Set goals for yourself, i.e go and walk for an hour three times a week. Scale up from there. Small changes lead to big changes.
Get up and do it.
Track your calorie intake with an app like Lose it!. Eat an apple with lunch. Cut sodas and junk food out of your diet. Put reminders up all over your house (bathroom mirror, computer monitor) to encourage you to get up and out.
TL;DR: There are no shortcuts to getting healthy. If you want to do it, then do it. It's that simple.
The bot might be getting triggered of your ref=... in your Amazon link.
Trim it down to https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XPSMJ8J
But few people buy multiple juicers and do comparisons. Your best bet is to look up video reviews on YouTube of any/all juicers you are interested about and see which fits your needs the best.
Do you compost at home? If so I'd recommend a stainless steel container with a carbon filter that you can fill in your kitchen and transfer your contents daily out to your compost pile.
I have this one but there are many others
I use this book mostly
Trick for me is to keep it simple and do mean grean juice 3x per day

half a gallon is just over 1.5 liters, that seems quite less for an adult, no? I gallon is about 3.5 liters, that seems more reasonable.
I am trying, but having a real hard time with greens. Fruits - that I can drink all day, lol

I was using jack lalanne that produces a lot of juice quickly but I wanted to switch to masticating.

don't know if it's the SAME one, but somethin to go off of
Get the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Pro 67650. It's a very good entry-level juicer that I personally have for 4-5 years already.
You got a lot of clients' opinions on it (always read the 4 stars ones on Amazon for the lesser-biased and unshilling testimonials).
Good stuff! I bought a large cutting board off amazon. Makes prep so much easier.
Stanton Trading 799-30 Cutting Board, 18" x 30" X 0.5", White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0032AM0LW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_yK3sCbMGYG559
Agreed. Don't mix anything. Straight celery juice. Also buy this Japanese skin conditioner off of Amazon. I purchased it for my teenage daughters and it worked wonders for their skin
When I get around to trying to do a deeper cleaning job on mine, I plan to use Bottle Bright Cleaning Tablets. It gets good reviews on Amazon and someone I know had good results with it removing the film (similar to the mineral film on juicer parts, I think) on his coffee drinking cups (but he didn't try it on plastic).
I got a discontinued Omega on Amazon for under $300. Works amazing. https://www.amazon.com/Omega-J8004-Dual-Stage-Masticating-Revolutions/dp/B001RLYOEE/ref=sr_1_10?keywords=omega+juicer&qid=1567521962&s=home-garden&sr=1-10
Good luck with your sobriety and with the hurricane, I know that has to be some incredible stress.
IMO, you should look at masticating juicers. I bought a refurbished Omega juicer (the "gold standard") a while back and it was exactly like brand new, even the packaging -- you'd never know it was a refurb, except for the fact that it cost about half of what a new one would.
If the Omegas are a bit expensive for you, you might consider an Aicok juicer, as they seem to have very good ratings.
EDIT: Here's the one that I bought, but no longer available:

Amazon! This is the link for the bottles, I also bought metal funnels from amazon (pack of three). The bottles are dishwasher safe (the glass bottle part, not the lid) which makes them convenient.
I'd personally go for the slow juicer with that much budget.
If you want an entry-level juicer just to test the juicing waters, get the one that I still use to this day:
I remember buying it years ago because it was #2 at Consumer Reports. Now it's at #5-7 out of 20 tested.
Years later, even though their juicer ratings haven't been updated, on that Hamilton Beach, they say:
"Convenience: This model was found to be Very Good for convenience, based on feed tube size, anti drip spout, juice container brush, etc.
Juicing performance: This model was Very Good for juicing performance, based on the amount of apple juice produced.
Noise: This model was judged Good for how noisy the juicer is running empty for 30 seconds.
Ease of use: This model was judged Very Good for how easy the juicer was to assemble, disassemble and clean."

This is what I got and it works great. I'm pretty sure it's a clone of the breville Big Squeeze at less than half the cost. I haven't ran into any issues so far, and if I do I bought the optional 3 year warranty as well.
It's a slow juicer so you get all the benefits of that, and a bigger yield.
Go get Joe Cross’s book on juicing, Reboot With Joe ( https://www.amazon.com/Reboot-Joe-Juice-Diet-Healthy-ebook/dp/B00I4C4548) as it’ll have literally everything you need for a healthy, sustained juicing.
I liked this one much better than the Cerave cream. Compare the ingredients in both. It worked in just a few days to get rid of a rash, so I just use it to soften my feet now. I totally re-use them. I have a bottle brush and they clean out fine.
Edit: Though I often give bottles of juice to friends, and I mostly never see those bottles again.

Get one of these, it works better than the brushes the juicers come with to clean the filter. I use this with my Slowstar filter and it works great. Covers lot more room than the cleaning brushes which comes with the juicers.
I have one like the Omega 8006 - mine is NC800 and I just adore it. Compared to the Champion I had back in the day this one is easier to clean, does leafy much better, can do wheat grass & doesn't seem to have much foam.
I have juicer just like this one.
If I run a lot of cucumber through there it gets all clogged up. I swear the leafy kale is the best thing to get it all out.
I live in a fairly large city and have found some decent deals at my local Goodwill store. I found THIS juicer in near new condition just a couple of months ago for $25. Of course, it's always hit and miss with these stores, but if you have one nearly, it's worth a shot.
After watching the documentary, I bought/read this book to really give a full understanding of it all before buying my juicing and going all in. It also has a ton of recipes in it for juicing/healthy eating, etc.
https://www.simplegreensmoothies.com/rotate-your-greens is a good article that explains why you should switch up your greens, particularly if you are doing a lengthy juice only fast (my first was 48 days).
I highly recommend juicers read https://www.amazon.com/Reboot-Joe-Juice-Diet-Healthy/dp/1626340811 by Joe. I tried a lot of recipes over my long juice fast (48 x 6/day!) and found his to be the best tasting. I ended up settling on about 15 of his recipes as my staple and then gave them variety by alternating greens. Amazing how different they each tasted. Or you could try a different apple to get a completely different taste.
At this point you might be better off getting a manual juicer it has a hand crank and auger much like a masticating juicer without the motor. Or eating the celery whole" with some hemp bitter or peanut butter
Just started juicing. I use the bag to strain the juice after blending. Its awsome, and its 9 bucks.

I don't know if you've purchased yet but here BLACK+DECKER JE2200B 400-Watt Fruit and Vegetable Juice Extractor with Custom Juice Cup, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003ZDNKSS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_K6-yybW44CHN2 is a good one (price/review wise) that I ordered as a beginner juicer.. Anyone have this?
I'll go with it til it dies out and then upgrade to a Breville :-)
I have owned two juicers, both of them around $300.
The Champion - which seems to be an older style juicer, it works very well but doesn't do green leafy very well or wheat grass.
Omega - Everyone I know now has this juicer. It has the same quality as the champion but can do the green leafy stuff and wheat grass. It also comes with some helpful tools (pulp catcher, juice catcher, cleaning brush). Here's the one I have. Been over a year so far and zero issues. It gets used pretty much daily and my wife and I have both done several juice fasts where it got used multiple times every day for 30 days straight.
I've never used a super expensive juicer like $900 but I've seen people complaining here about foam on some of the more expensive juicers.
nope. The two functions are juicing with the one filter/screen and making a paste, puree or flour with the other. There is technically a pasta making nozzle, for feeding a gluten pasta dough through the corkscrew part of the juicer, but i've never tried that seems like a pain to me. Maybe others can comment on that function. I am too cheap to buy a new appliance for raw noodles, I just use a regular vegetable peeler or a julienne peeler to make them.
Really hoping we get a response on this, I just picked up the KitchenAid Professional series today
So there's sort of two lines of thought when it comes to the juice losing nutrients right as you juice. That being one of them.
The other is that oxidation is what destroys the enzymes and nutrients that you want from the juice. So if you store it in an airtight container you don't have to worry about it as much. I have a masticating juicer (omega) and from what I hear and have read, the juice is good for up to 3 days! The ONLY juice I've heard that you should probably drink fairly rapidly after making it is carrot juice.
Also, if she's just starting out, here's some decent to go containers
HTH
It depends on what you want to juice. If its mostly greens and soft fruits you can get away with getting something like this which I have and love. Its hand-cranked so its extremely quiet. But for hard vegetables like carrots you need to chop them really small and it struggles. If you want to juice more fruits/veg and less greens then I would recommend this basic Breville juicer. The Breville is kinda loud but it is really fast and easy to use.
I have those same bottles minus the carrying loop and I hate them. They're too hard to clean. Any secrets? I had a nice bottle brush that worked pretty well but it broke because it had a very poorly designed flexible hinge. I'm afriad if I try to buy one off Amazon (like this one) it won't fit.
My wife and I prep a week's worth of juice (weekday, 5 days) and put them in 18oz bottles. It's works out great where we have one day where the kitchen is a mess and have a fresh juice ready before work. We use THESE bottles from Amazon.
I have this hurom juicer if anyone is interested. $175 obo plus shipping. Only used a few times. Still in great condition.
Niiice. I've been looking at that one vs the Omega vert.
I've been leaning towards the Omega vert. I have until over the wkend to decide and then I'm pulling the trigger. Is it because of the bigger chute?
I got this juicer for under a hundred dollars and it still is. I haven't done a fast but I do drink one big veg juice a day.
I just bought this baby off Amazon for a pretty good price. (Just under about $150). It seems like a good mid range juicer, not too expensive, but still seems good quality and easy to clean. I'm a guy about your size as well... with a similar goal. As soon as this juicer arrives, I'm gonna start with a 10 day juice fast... and I still feel good, consider going for 30 days. Looking forward to kickstarting my health again. Good luck to you!
I just got this one for $100 which is something quid.
I was worries about noise too, but it's no louder then my food processor, and much quieter then my blender.
I used to have a centrifugal juicer. I've actually owned several. I've always tried to start juicing but never really got into it. They are difficult to clean, and don't get me good quantites of juice.
Then I got an Omega J8006 I'm so much happier with this one. Easier to clean so I actually use it. The pulp isn't dry but it doesn't feel like I can wring it out with my hands. I've tried redoing it a few times but didn't notice that much more juice coming out to warrant the extra effort and cleanup. (The augur seems hold most of the redone pulp, unless I have something else like a spare carrot to fed it through)
Overall best ~300'ish I've spent on a juicer. Probably spent over 800 on centrifugal juicers trying to find one that was 'good'. Its worth noting I want it for veggies and leafy greens. Juicing an orange, etc is fine in a high speed juicer, but its also fine in my slow speed juicer. This juicer also lives on my counter top. Its not too big that it has to be put elsewhere.
Generally centrifugal juicers are not good for greens. You need a slow masticating juicer.
It will do them, but not as well. it will not wheat grass though.

I have horizontal Kuvins I got from Cosco few years ago. Does a nice job. Here's similar one on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Kuvings-NJE-3580U-Masticating-Juicer-Silver/dp/B008M1EJ9M
You can read up more on the different technologies here but like others already said, masticating juicer is the way to go.
Tried looking for some juicers in my area on CL, no luck :(

I'm a fan of Omega's masticating juicers.
If you're looking into the 8006 model, take a look at the NC800. It's essentially the next gen 8000 series, but doesn't get a lot of attention.
I own the VRT350 and the NC800.
How about THIS? It doesn't quite fit a whole apple, but it's close. I just do some minimal chopping. Very good quality too.
I have a couple of these in different sizes and they work well: Bormioli Rocco Frigoverre Jug with Hermetic Lid
Breville is a good option to, they have been in the game for awhile.
I bough this one: http://www.amazon.com/Breville-JE98XL-Fountain-850-Watt-Extractor/dp/B003R28HWQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1434987787&sr=8-1&keywords=breville+juicer
However there is a higher model her: http://www.amazon.com/Breville-800JEXL-Fountain-1000-Watt-Extractor/dp/B0002VAFVG/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1434987787&sr=8-4&keywords=breville+juicer
they both have solid reviews.
Vitamix and Blendtec are other popular options.
I don't juice things like blueberries, kiwis, strawberries, etc. Orange might be the only exception of a soft fruit I juice only because it is cheap and yields so much juice. You could blend up the blueberries with a bit of water really well, and then purchase a nut milk bag and strain it thru that, bingo bango. That should make a pretty smooth blueberry juice.
I've had this problem for years and I finally solved it with a much longer bristle brush. I now use a scrub brush, which works great and cleans way better and faster than any toothbrush. http://www.amazon.com/OXO-Grips-Household-Scrub-Brush/dp/B00004OCL3
Thank you for the advice, /u/Sepplinn! I recently purchased The Ultimate Book of Modern Juicing: More than 200 Fresh Recipes to Cleanse, Cure, and Keep You Healthy by Mimi Kirk. This book has some amazing recipes! I can not wait to use pulp to create dog treats!
I came across Komboucha in the book. I didn't know what it was, so I ran off to Whole Foods to purchase a bottle. It's delicious, so I want to use the recipe to create my own. Aside from Mason Jars, what are the best types of air-tight bottles? I need to purchase some to make the Komboucha, but I have no idea what to buy.
Edit: Spelling
I have this one and I love it: Breville BJE200XL Compact Juice Fountain 700-Watt Juice Extractor. I chose it because at the time it had the most reviews on Amazon.
^That's ^why ^I'm ^here, ^I ^don't ^judge ^you. ^PM ^/u/xl0 ^if ^I'm ^causing ^any ^trouble. ^WUT?
I have posted this elsewhere, but this is my personal experience:
I wanted a masticating juicer so that I could get more juice from my produce and so that the juice would hold up longer over time (so I could make it the night before for my grab-and-go breakfast). I previously owned a vertical juicer (this one in fact: http://www.amazon.com/Omega-VRT350-Dual-Stage-Vertical-Single/dp/B00434JINO) I live in a big city so I thought that I would value having more counter space. But... it still takes up a lot of counter space (especially when using it). And I was using it every day anyway. Perhaps it is quite a bit better if you have almost no prep area though... but it clogged quite a bit and the juice wasn't as smooth as I would have liked (a little unpleasant to have these stringy or chunky bits suddenly...). Every time it clogged was the worst part... you had to take it all apart in the middle of juicing to unclog it. We tried cutting everything fibrous into super tiny pieces, but it still clogged.... :/ What made me make the switch though was the amount of foam this one produced! I once had a container fill up with 1/4 juice and 3/4 foam. That is ridiculous. I was totally good about switching between fruit and greens and everything...
So, we got this awesome juicer: http://www.amazon.com/Omega-Chrome-Heavy-Duty-Masticating-Juicer/dp/B00CM9RHUI The one I got came with an optional dial that you can use on the end, but I just use the end without the dial. It seems to juice a little slower, but it's worth it to me. I spend around 30 minutes to an hour each day juicing. Reasons I like this one over the other one:
Good luck!
I have this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009RVA2QA/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Seems to just spit out the grass like a lawn mower.
Started to look into it and saw some hand grinders
