HA! So, this is relevant to your username too, sort of.
Anyway -- one of the ladies on /r/entwives posted that she had a store on Etsy (here it is, if you like.. )
It's supposed to be an entwife, and it's pretty.. I liked, so I bought.
I was sitting in traffic a couple of weeks ago, right after having watched True Detective the night before, when I realized .. branch antlers.. spiral belly button. Oh shit.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A0RHSJO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_jpNTFb3K2GQWF?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
This is the one I've been using for 4 years or so. Installation only took about 5 minutes; if I recall it even came with a little plastic wrench, so I didn't need to even bust out the tool box.
I don't like pooping anywhere but home now. Scraping my butthole with dry toilet paper seems so primitive and unhygienic now compared to actually washing it.
And it pays for itself very quickly. Since you only need a square or two of TP to dab dry with, a decent sized roll of TP can last a month or longer. I bought an 8 pack of TP sometime this summer (July/August or so) and haven't needed to re-up.
Thanks! It's funny that you should say that it's your upbringing in NYC that taught you to be respectful -- that's usually the party line I hear from Southerners. I grew up in New England and California, so I'm pretty relaxed about it all, myself.
Every single item on the car came from Amazon. A lot of them were gifts procured through Random Acts of Amazon, here on reddit. The Tardis was a gift from my mom, though (also via amazon).
I found out yesterday that I've been gifted yet again from RAoA, and should be receiving a weeping angel vinyl decal -- and I have no idea where I'm going to put it! lol
(edited to add: I forgot, the entwife came from an Etsy shop, not amazon! )
I've used the Google photoscan app for exactly this purpose. It's available for Android and iPhone. https://www.google.com/photos/scan/
You can scan photos right from your phone without removing them from the wall, frame, or album. The app cleans it up magically and removes the glare.
Hope this helps make the process a tiny bit easier for you and the family.
I've had T-Mobile for ~5 years. Great 4G coverage inside of I-640 and along interstates and major highways. Outside of that, not so much. In East and South Knox County, Maryville and Alcoa very spotty 4G coverage. Based on my experience, the coverage map here is pretty accurate for Knoxville area: https://opensignal.com/networks/usa/t-mobile-coverage
I personally use PIA. I know it may seem fishy that the post URL is from them, but I promise I'm not sponsored in any way. Their pricing is super fair and they have been third-party verified to not keep any logs; this is on top of their already incredible transparency. On top of this, they have tons of customization options, a great app, and fast servers.
However, to be honest, most VPNs nowadays are pretty much the same. They have to be to stay competitive. However, I would highly recommend you avoid free ones. The way they make money is by selling data; plain and simple. While they still hide your data from your ISP and other bad actors, it defeats a major cornerstone of VPN usage.
A big one to avoid is TunnelBear, as they were purchased by the McAfee company a year or so ago. I don't know if I have time to go into just how terrible this is for their security image, but just know McAfee does not have your security in mind.
NordVPN and ExpressVPN are two other really good ones. I can't speak to their pricing like I can PIA, but they also use fantastic encryption and are very transparent. I actually used NordVPN for a little, but switched to PIA almost immediately. I can attest their customer service department was really quick on giving me a refund for the ~1 day I used it, and they were incredibly friendly while doing so.
At the end of the day, any well-known VPN service will be good. Just be smart and do your research. Stay safe, friend.
There's a 20s and 30s meetup on meetup.com. It is largely crunchy looking white people, but it looks like one of the co-organizers is a POC herself (Asian). I'm going to my first one on Monday (bowling, laser tag). So I guess I'll see how it works out. In addition to this there's a hikers meetup that do different things (bars, hikes, movies, etc.).
I'm trying to figure out a friends thing here since moving from Miami and it is difficult. I'm a white dude who's used to being the minority, and now everyone looks like me. Something I've never experienced in my life. But I have to throw myself out there and try.
There are also rec leagues for kickball, dodge ball, softball, and the sort. I think they run in spring and fall, probably summer too. It's called Knoxville Sports and Social club. That's worth looking into.
Amateur astronomy is a long-time hobby of mine, although I haven't been as active with it the last year. I own two Newtonian reflectors (4.5" and 10") and tons of eyepieces, filters, and other accessories. I would recommend one of these types for your first scope.
Look to spend at least $250 for a decent new starter scope. A lot of people make the mistake of buying a cheap department store refractor, and are disappointed with what they are able to see, and thus give up. You can also find great deals on Craigslist. I got my 10" for about $300, if I remember correctly.
I also live in an apartment in West Knoxville and you'd actually be surprised what you can see. r/telescopes is a great subreddit for amateur astronomers. Feel free to PM me if you'd like some more info. Here's to clear skies!
I'm not sure if this will work, but I did a search on "All Trails" website for you and restricted the difficulty to "easy" and changed the length to "9-13 miles" and zoomed out to include quite a bit of the area surrounding Knoxville. This is what it showed.https://www.alltrails.com/explore?b_tl_lat=36.760891249565624&b_tl_lng=-85.14678955078125&b_br_lat=35.191766965947394&b_br_lng=-82.1173095703125&a[]=hiking&diff[]=easy&length[]=14484.096000000001&length[]=20921.472
You have to log in to get the details, but I have never had trouble with spam form this site (or else my gmail just sorts it out well). You might also want to lower the hike length to 5 miles because some of these are "out and back" and that would give you the 10 miles you are looking for. I mostly just wanted to show you this website so you can see how you can search for trails for your specific criteria.
Central UMC is moving in that direction. Very welcoming and has a lot of outreach initiatives.
Here is the sermon from today! https://www.buzzsprout.com/37417/285024-making-christ-known-embracing-all
Martial Arts with Lance England
His only recommendation regarding religion/philosophy would probably be to read The Art of War or something like that. Though, only at your discretion.
It's off Northshore Drive.
https://maps.google.com/maps?ll=35.848131,-84.081715&z=17&t=h&hl=en-US
Here's a spot across from Admiral Park, on the South side of the lake. You can see on the map there's something in the water--that's a silo, from before the dam was built.
Near the Silo, on that map link, there's a neighborhood. That used to just be a field, and it's where I proposed to my wife, actually--right about where the clubhouse is with the covered boat slip. You can get to that spot by taking I-140 (Pellissippi Parkway) South over the river, then following the road--Google maps will give you directions. Not sure if there's a spot you can get to now with the neighborhood, but it's beautiful out there.
https://www.groupon.com/deals/ga-bk-wilderness-at-the-smokies-4
This may work for you. It’s not too far from Knoxville and reasonably priced with the groupon. My two children always enjoy a stay here.
From what I understand, Mr. Burroughs became a local meme (https://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=hp#!/StephenABurroughs), embraced it and promised to host a public party if the page got 10k+ likes on Facebook.
Since the goal was reached, he is now hosting this party at the Sunsphere and Convention Center from 7-11pm this coming Friday. It is said to be a family event with $15k in prizes and giveaways (http://swagfestknoxville.com/giveaways.aspx)
I am not affiliated with Mr. Burroughs--I just enjoyed the meme, and thought the party would be fun.
Go through this list and pick out ones that appeal to you and don't require extensive experience. You have to be motivated and take the initiative to put yourself out there. I know it's frustrating when it seems like no one is hiring, but there are so many opportunities, you just have to dig through them. Good luck, friend!
It's already been said but it's worth repeating - join a whole bunch of Meetups on Meetup.com - then go to a bunch until you find a group you like - then just go over and over so you eventually make friends! Good luck!!
I don't use a physical bank anymore. As long as you don't need to deposit cash an online only bank might be worth looking into. The two I use are USAA and Simple. Both are free Checking and USAA has a plethora of other services. Simple is simple, checking only with check card services and mobile deposit. Seriously you can't even write checks from the account directly, though they do have an online service to mail checks for you. But with the combination of the two I have not had a physical bank in over 2 years and have not paid any kind of fees (including ATM fees).
Get familiar with the greenway system and how to connect them. Here is my go to ride. I live in Bearden so I start at Earth Fare, but you could start downtown and do the same run. http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/1252783444
If you're looking for a long flat 40-50+ mile ride I usually head out to oak ridge. It starts out with a marked bikeroute, then a bike lanes, and then there is a HUUGE shoulder on the highway once you get out of town. You'll see alot of riders out there if you go. http://mapmyrun.com/workout/747269847
Like I said I live in Bearden and ride downtown alot. PM if you wanna meet up for a ride some time.
It's a small park, I'll grant you, but it's plenty big enough to get a 10 mile hike in.
Check out this All Trails hike:
https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/tennessee/haw-ridge-lake-trail
That's over 8 miles and they're just doing the perimeter. Wander into the park instead and you'll easily hit 10.
I get great speeds on T-Mobile in Knoxville.
Check out my Speedtest result! How fast is your internet? https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/4877062051
This was near papermill and Kingston pike intersection.
Not what you want to hear, but... downtown. T-Mobile.
73.4Mbps down and 34.2 up.
https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/i/3233918781
I’ve had T-mo for 4 years now and came from VZW. My usage is mostly downtown and corridor to Oak Ridge. I’ve had much better service with T-Mo than I did with VZW (same devices, sim swap to T-Mo).
What device are you using?
I cannot provide a specific asbestos abatement contractor recommendation. I work in the asbestos industry and there is a conflict of interest in making recommendations like this.
Search for an abatement company that is highly reviewed, transparent and does not become irritated with any questions. Your selected abatement contractor should carry liability, E&O and workers' compensation insurance. They should also have multiple valid certifications and training certificates. In most states all abatement contractors are vetted by workers' comp.
Asbestos containing Transite siding was often installed above other siding layers to improve fire resistance, insulating factor and isolate noise. The biggest challenge with ACM Transite siding removal like you mention is the disposal. Often, a large disposal bin is required and it needs to be handled with care to the landfill. If the siding pieces are not cracked or broken (beware that impact will easily break them) they can stay in place, be pressure washed and painted as an interim solution.
If anyone reading is looking to learn more about asbestos, from identification to removal please read my ebook it's free for Amazon Kindle Unlimited members or a low cost educational guide for non-members.https://www.amazon.com/Asbestos-Exposed-definitive-identification-including/dp/B08H566HPS
Colquitt & Livingood’s Bicycling Routes of Knoxville has lots of great road ideas, in a variety of mileages, arranged by area of Knox County. https://www.amazon.com/Bicycling-Routes-Elle-Colquitt/dp/160725008X

> I have almost had a panic attack while wearing my mask a couple times from feeling claustrophobic/hot breath making me feel like I couldn't breathe - I had to rationalize myself down because obviously I can breathe.
Same. Have to remind myself it's psychological. The first time it happened, I was in a store around other people and had to move to a corner away from people and pull it off and gasp for air and calm down.
I'm a big guy with a big head and it hasn't helped that every mask I've tried so far is too tight and creates the claustrophobic feeling by pressing against my nose and mouth. I just ordered this giant mask yesterday which I hope will give my nose and mouth a bit of room for relief. Plus one can insert a whole surgical mask inside, which is cool.
Some who are touting NordVPN as a good option might want to read this article from Wirecutter:
Also just FYI, NordVPN has been hacked/breached multiple times, as recently as October 2019.
Plenty of better, cheaper, ACTUAL VPNs out there; extra research and shopping around is never a bad thing, and please don't rely only on that first page of Google search results for reviews and such.
Also also, Marsha Blackburn sucks. :-)
So something like this will allow me to access those channels you mentioned?
Yep, this and my Portable Jumper have easily been one of the best life-investments I've ever made. They have not only saved myself and my girlfriend on multiple occasions, but also plenty of other randoms
It's a RED FLAG WARNING for the whole area. We need to figure out a better way to deter and police fires during dangerous conditions.
Ahh must be vintage because they used the word to attract sales hmm yes quite right. Just like this vintage the office t shirt...
I am a former ACT tutor. In my opinion, this is by far the best ACT prep book out there:
Please be aware that since this is an 'unofficial' guide, you will also need to purchase the 'official' ACT red book to work along with it..
Every student I worked with who used this book diligently received a score of 33 or better.
I believe you are thinking of the right thing. Here is a link to a jumper for reference:
My wife's first concern was asphyxiation too... It is also bad for a baby's hips to be left in that particular seated position for too long. I believe the maximum limit per day is about 1 hour (not consecutively).
A surge protector would definitely be ideal. This oneis a great bang for your buck. They protect like 30,000 dollars worth of equipment in the editing lab I work in. They’ve saved us several times.
Had to check back in my comment history, specifically hoping for a positive update.
Really glad you found her, man.
I recommend you get her a 'happy hoodie' to wear next year on these fireworks nights.
I've used this Soil Savvy kit from Amazon in the past. You mail it in and results come emailed to you pretty quick. Lots of great info about my soil!
You can absolutely rethread the crank arm. You want a pedal thread insert. I would expect most shops to have the reaming / tap tool.
This is the piece you are looking for. Don't buy the ten-pack off of Amazon, but this and the related tools are how it's done. I would expect most shops to be capable of this repair.

No Direction Home series of books. I got into reading a lot of prepper books a while back. Don't kink shame.
Starts in North/Downtown Knoxville, Turkey Creek, and then down 75 a bit.
It's complicated but another book---American Nations---does a pretty good job of outlining how the local culture established here was/is playing catch-up.
Yeah, the tests vary, if I use okla it's under 60mbs but if I use Google's or fast.com it's around 500-600... You sound much better versed with the Internet than I, I just have the default att box...
More about the $40 million project of “Ancient Lore Village at Boyd Hollow":
I actually drove by there when it was still being built, and Mr. Boyd showed us around. It's so silly. He has this huge oil painting above the fireplace in one house and it's of "him and his wife". He, as a hobbit-like character, is the center figure. We couldn't figure out where his wife was. Apparently, if you look up in the upper right hand corner you will see a tiny fairy. That's his wife.
Also, he wanted people to come to his shire rip-off, so he commissioned a book series to be written. It's apparently a terrible series. So vain.
Also the neighborhood for this resort was incredibly against him being there. They all had protest signs in their front yards. But Boyd has money so it doesn't matter what regular people want. The stadium will be no different.
About the original oil painting of Boyd himself, stylized as a fictional character from his 88-page book: https://www.ecosia.org/images?q=an%20original%20oil%20painting%20of%20Boyd%20himself,%20stylized%20as%20a%20fictional%20character%20from%20his%2088-page%20book#id=967D7B904468D50D0D51F3EB18B34C9BD091F066
There’s a post on next door where someone is selling a Mitchell ukulele. Probably a coincidence, but worth checking out. Good luck!
I just got these a few weeks ago, they were still in stock at the Farragut walmart - https://www.walmart.com/ip/Tennessee-Vols-Bean-Bag-Toss/51049113
For $50, its actually a decent set. They have a bit of bounce to them since they are made from furniture type particle board, but the bags themselves almost make the $50 worth it. We also were in a not very level parking lot for tailgating, so there's that as well. Grass would probably get rid of the majority of the bounce. They are very light (~20lbs together) compared to some of the 3/4" plywood home built versions.
Anyways, if you were going to spend $20 or whatnot on a rental fee, I wanted to show you another option.
The trail to Devil's Racetrack is up your way and while loud from the highway has some beautiful spots https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/tennessee/devils-racetrack
Are you in west knox? So what plan do you currently have with Wow? Also, can you do me a favor and check your current speed on fast.com? (its powered by netflix to check your streaming speeds). My biggest concern is losing the great speeds I have now. Thanks you!
I'm in the Karns area as well. We've got Comcast here and while I hate them as a company and really do wish the top 80% of the income earners at Comcast will burn in hell after Zombie Hitler kills them... it rarely goes down and the bandwidth is pretty good:
https://www.speedtest.net/result/8456523234.png
I work from home, thus I'm online all day long, so I know when it craps out. I have power failures more often than ISP failures.
I've got my own modem as well. I'm using the Asus CM-32_AC2600. Comcast charges ?10 bucks? a month for their modem, so that adds up.
I can't think of any cons. I pretty much agree with the assessment on the parts of the city described by gerdinailo but I'd like to say that he left out Fountain City (which is NorthEast Knoxville) which I think is the best part of town to live.
Downtown used to suck, but it's badass now. The Market Square downtown Farmer's Market rivals those in cities like San Diego.
Dollywood, Smoky Mountains, and lakes are close and there are so many parks and hiking trails in every direction surrounding Knoxville that it keeps me happy all year round. Join some Meetup.com and Facebook groups when you arrive to make friends and you'll be all set!
There are a LOT of helpdesk type positions in the Knoxville and Oak Ridge area.
Claris as mentioned, Whirlpool, Pilot, SAIC, SITEL (Formerly Client Logic and I would never suggest actually working there), Brinks, etc. etc.
https://www.mapquest.com/us/tennessee/knox-county-solid-waste-355996573
The dump at Baxter Avenue is great. You will pay a few dollars but it's totally worth it (based on weight) The dump in Halls you can toss items into a dumpster below but I think I remember there being a rail you had to toss over. Some of the others require you to toss up into a dumpster. At Baxter you just pull the items onto the ground and leave them and then a large tractor comes and pushes it all away.
As someone who owns rental houses and has used several dumps, there really is no option. The Baxter facility is superior by far. I've never paid more than about $10 for what I took there and normally it's $3-$5.
Find a nice rental and get drunker. In the morning, stumble towards the "Village" and enter into a covenant of pure bliss with the Donut Friar.
Here you go...
im pretty big into gaming, and have been trying to convince my friends to host some matrix servers ( https://matrix.org/ ). Its not the easiest to set up, but apparently can do messaging via irc and has lots of clients for mobile and web. I also read it can do voip ( https://matrix.org/blog/2015/09/10/voip-calling-now-supported-in-android-matrix-console/ ). may be something to look into if you guys are nerds like me.
I think I'm sitting at a month of using BetaPunch. You're at the mercy of when tests appear on the site, though. Sometimes I'll go 3 or 4 days without a test, and then I'll get 3 in a single night (has happened thrice so far). I've been posting here and there trying to get more sites to sign up for at least the free test, if not purchasing more tests.
I don't think mturk has a referral system. You can find the site here. The site DOES require your SSN. The site is run by Amazon, so use your own judgment on whether you trust them with your SSN. You only get a tax form if you get $600 from a single requester, not from the site as a whole, which is difficult to do. /r/mturk and /r/hitsworthturkingfor are good resources for using that site. It pays out to your bank ($10 minimum withdrawal) or Amazon gift card (minimum $1).
Let me know if you have any other questions.

I bough the 8 inch mattress almost a decade ago now and it's still going strong and is probably the comfiest mattress I've ever slept on.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GXUM0M2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And I just use this for a "box spring replacement".
I got this on Amazon about a year ago and it's been great: https://www.amazon.com/Alera-EL42BME10B-Elusion-Mid-Back-Swivel/dp/B00QW4DHSA/ref=sr_1_4?crid=2E6I9KYVSTL8K&dchild=1&keywords=alera+elusion+chair&qid=1610207674&sprefix=alera+el%2Caps%2C200&sr=8-4
The windshield defrost button is the one you want to push (or dial to, if it's a knob/switch). This should initiate airflow to be directed at the windshield. Since it's January and generally cold/cool, you'll want to set the temperature dial at whatever the warmest setting is and lightly rev your engine for a minute to accelerate the creation of heat. Crack a window during this time to allow moisture to escape the car. I would not listen to the person who's advocating for you to tun on your AC (presumably blowing cool/cold air). While they're not wrong that the AC condenser coils will reduce moisture, it's also true that warm air will force the window's condensation back into the atmosphere way faster. As others have noted, it's a good idea to make sure your car's interior is not harboring excess moisture. On the next clear day with low humidity, consider leaving your car doors and windows open for a few hours. You can also hang DampRid in your car too.
Never tried this, but sounds interesting!
Amazon an option? Kind of hefty at 3 for $14.. https://smile.amazon.com/Jufran-Banana-Sauce-12-bottles/dp/B0711RX7Y3?th=1
With it being made in the Philippines, wonder if Sunrise Market near Walker Springs would have it. Will have to check next time I'm out there.
You should download the iNaturalist app for your phone. You basically just point your phone at a leaf or flower and it'll ID it in real time. It's amazing. I use it all the time.
Absolutely Knoxville, and delicious!
It's here and I think Huntsville AL that have steamed sandwiches. They're rare everywhere else in the country.
Unfortunately, the Fresh-O-Matic (https://www.amazon.com/Nemco-6625B-Countertop-Rethermalizer-Tortilla/dp/B00BQ1AFZC) is expensive, so it's hard to do properly at home.
The DJI Mavic Mini is $400 new and the specs look amazing for a "starter" photography quad. It has a stated 30m flight time. I have a DJI Spark which is an older model, but about the same size, but much lower specs. I still really like my Spark, and have taken some really neat shots with it. You can find used Sparks for not too much, and I've seen the Minis for not a lot either on FB.
If you are wanting to learn to just fly one (which I recommend), those super cheap nano drones you can find anywhere will give you the basic fundamentals. They have NO flight assists like stability or altitude hold like the DJIs, but you can learn to fly them without really worrying about crashing much.
I learned on this one: https://www.amazon.com/Cheerwing-X5SW-V3-Explorers2-Headless-Quadcopter/dp/B011JV9HA2
They just said it had to be a docsis 3.0 modem, if you look them up on amazon they say whether they are compatible. I got this one, but picked a warehouse deal so it was like half off, then a $30 router. You can get a combo but it was cheaper to get separate ones for me.

don't look at Prime Pantry if you are in Knoxville, Prime Pantry is really only worth using if you live in a larger market and can buy all you groceries that way.
Just search for the TP you want on the normal part of amazon.
For example https://smile.amazon.com/Angel-Soft-Toilet-Regular-Tissue/dp/B07SNGLZPQ is in stock (will ship out monday)
I think pretty much any certified electrician can do network cable running. But, have you looked at something like this? https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Powerline-ethernet-Adapter-TL-PA4010KIT/dp/B00AWRUICG/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?keywords=power+ethernet+wall+socket&qid=1552765737&s=gateway&sr=8-2
I am not advocating this product or brand in anyway but wanted to show that there are devices that will turn your homes internal power lines into ethernet, I've heard that they actually work really well. Might could pick up a couple to test before you spend $$ on labor and poking holes in your walls everywhere.
These are awesome and attractive enough to sit on the counter.
Good to know. Are you doing a full rebuild?
I'm thinking of getting this set. https://smile.amazon.com/ABN-Carburetor-Synchronizer-Adjustment-Tool/dp/B00T80OR52/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1531756684&sr=8-1-fkmr1&keywords=cb750k+carb+sync
I have bought a couple from Amazon - they weren't too bad. Example
I'm not sure exactly what level of scanner is required but I use one of these: https://www.amazon.com/ScanTool-427201-OBDLink-Bluetooth-Professional/dp/B00H9S71LW/ref=sr_1_20?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1476360240&sr=1-20&keywords=OBD+II+Scanner
I can view all kinds of real time parameters with this thing along with the normal troubleshooting codes.
