I think those tips will help you
Harassment is basically nonexistant if you're a man travelling with a woman. Well, I mean vendors and people will try to push what they're selling on you either way, but that's expected. Women by themselves do tend to get harassed more, especially depending on what they're wearing/hair color etc. The more touristy cities it is definitely worse. Marrakesh was by far the worst of anywhere I saw, but the tourist population there is insane.
Coastal cities worth checking out in this order (in my opinion): Tetouan, Chefchouen, Tangier, Rabat
The first three are all very close together in the north, Rabat is down a ways but I believe easily accessible by train from Tangier or grand taxi.
I would reccommend using AirBnb. You can find some amazing places on there for very cheap.
Hi, I hope you are doing great!
you can just visit Udemy.com
and try to create an account for free!
then go look for the " basic Arabic language " filter to the free courses!
that's it!
Wa iyyak. I definitely understand it's not always easy or realistic to put off marriage indefinitely or long-term, for so many reasons, and in some sense, delaying it isn't the solution anyway. I guess it's just important to remember that there will be incompatibilities that come up throughout life, it's just the nature of being a convert, and to be prepared to deal with them, and look for a partner that is very, VERY good at communication and conflict resolution.
On another topic, I just realized, you said you are fluent in several languages, have you considered doing online translation to support yourself while there? This is how I made a living in Algeria, I translate French-English on Upwork.com, brought in about $1,000 USD/month at the time, which was WAY more than enough to live comfortably there. Something to think about.
Final thing, re another comment about learning darija, the absolute fastest way is if you can find someone to live with, roommate etc. who speaks zero English or French, force yourself to be immersed at all times (in my case it was my mother-in-law :P) and stop people and ask the meaning of every single word you don't know, and you will be fluent in NO time.
https://www.23andme.com/ offers DNA testing, but as far as I remember I don't think they have enough samples from north africa to get an interesting answer, you will get something like x% north african (no distinction between arab, amazigh, ....), and some y% if they is any european or sub-Saharan ancestry
Get a VPN and watch it on Netflix, Amazon Prime or whatever, this show is popular everywhere. Try one of these: NordVPN, ExpressVPN, PrivateVPN. They are those who are good with streaming, especially Netflix. Not many VPNs work well with Netflix so better do your research.
I'm no expert but I'd definitely advise you add 1 day in Chefchaouen to go on hiking, since you like that, in Akchour (near Chefchaouen).

Molly Which is a fork of Signal Is An Open Source p2p Encrypted Communication App That Is Privacy Focused/Secure, It doesn't record any information about you neither your data or anything at all, the only thing that keep is what you sign up with and that is your phone number. Its soo good that even the FBI and other intelligence agencies were soo mad about It, in fact the fbi requested some things about an individual and what they got was his phone number which they already supplied to the company signal lol. I hope everyone switch to signal rather using proprietary (private without source code) garbage such us whatsapp which evaluate your privacy and your personal information and tracks you all the time.
Well, it depends on your position on sex reassignment... and Maki Carousel...

Hey there , Barcelo hotel have a good location in the center of Fez, by a taxi you can go wherever you want, have a look on this Itinirary ,It was very useful for me the first time i visited Fez , Hope it helps you too Greetings https://tripblan.com/trip/fes
Looking at the World, learning English is an average 20% boost in wages world-wide. That is the power of a lingua franca. But when you look at Morocco specifically, French is one of two languages for business and government, so it's French that you must learn for the wage boost.
But if you want to stick with English, try and see if teaching Darija to English speakers garners any interest on preply.com or italki.
Also, when covid is over and the tourists are back, maybe tours in English, but it is super competitive.
Yeah it depends on the movies popularity.. I once had downloaded a movie from thepiratebay and a year later, it was gone. So I just spend 40 minutes going through Google to find a link cause I found it funny myself that Morocco literally pays no crap to copyrighting anything but somehow 🤔 Moroccan movies about MOROCCANS themselves.. Are for the elite? For French people? Jeez. Anyway, I have found a link but it's paid service and it's good, better than Netflix too.

Im driving to Morocco (Rabat) from Spain, Ill be traveling alone, I want to know:
Haven’t read all of his work yet but I doubt it. He focuses more on Algeria but has also touched on the ways in which people approach colonization (and may even excuse/romanticize it).
As for Morocco, I haven’t read it but this one looks interesting.
Perhaps you could also Google search for books/studies about the Rif war/history to learn more about Spanish colonization. Good luck!
Not that long ago I read this book regarding Amazigh culture, but it only extends to women's perspective and role. It's a great read nonetheless, maybe not the complete one you were looking for. It can definitely help you understand the meaning of some recurring symbols, jewels, textiles, dresses and so on!
I'm not really sure, found one in Amazon that I really liked : https://www.amazon.com/Celestron-21041-60mm-PowerSeeker-Telescope/dp/B0002CTZAC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1539988222&sr=8-1&keywords=celestron+21041+60mm
You can find the prices here just check the "Classe 1" column : https://comment.ma/tarifs-des-autoroutes-maroc
For gas prices there is an official app you can get here : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mahatati.mag
Bon voyage!
Hi how are you doing Yes you can use your own router with MT subscription. Otherwise and If you are familiar with virtualization technologies, you can build a virtual router and connect it to your ProtonVPN. Then make this virtual router the default gateway for your devices. This means that you can connect all Your home devices(Laptops, smartphones ...) though same vpn connection. I'm working on an article that addresses that configuration on my blog, keep an eye on the website, the article should be online on the next days. Cheers.
This seems to be a drop shipper business. Drop shippers are best avoided as they have no control whatsoever on handling , shipping, delivery, etc. and you can almost always find the same product cheaper elsewhere.
The reviews on Google Play are terrible. A lot of people complaining about either awful or inexistent CS and their orders being cancelled post payment and not receiving a full refund or a refund at all.
Even worse reviews on Trust Pilot.
Hello, It is not supposed to change the what a person feels. It is supposed to provide comfort and perspective.
Each person is different, and the majority of people find it helpful when knowing that they're not alone going through a painful, or traumatic experience ( hence the existence of addiction therapy groups etc.. ).
"When our experiences are normalised, it offers affirmation and actually contributes to greater emotional freedom because when we feel recognised and accepted by another, we can more easily accept ourselves."
Amazon provides import estimates which you could expect to pay. This guitar for example has 114 USD import fees (an estimate).
Get a smoothie blender (https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B01B0YRL4M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
Test out smoothies with fruits/greens/nuts + milk/water depending on your preference, anything could work provided it doesnt taste like shit. It's easier to consume calories in liquid form. Drink 2 a day, and ofc, workout or at least do some cardio training. A good/accessible one with a fun learning curve for instance would be : Jump Rope.
Good luck !
apply for visa for spain , wait 3 months , get ryannair airplane for 200dh , get hotel for 3 days 1000dhs get laptop from amazon ??? profit ?

Off topic here, but just wanted to share a research opportunity with the community. I am looking for native Moroccan Arabic speakers to participate in a paid study on language translation. The session would consist of a 90 minute Zoom interview with a researcher and you would be compensated $250 as a thank you for your time. Please use the link here for more details:
For kids I would recommend a fancy pencil case. I was obsessed with having a fancy one as a kid, specially those that open up in multiple levels (I had a blue bus lol still remember)
Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/GDpowerseller-Students-Multifunction-Stationery-Pencil/dp/B0719R55NC
Theres a whole book you can buy about the recipes on that show! Bam. Heres the book. its amazing btw. How to cook and eat people minus the people part.
Get it from Amazon, the total cost will be around $900 including shipping and import fees, and you will get it in 5 to 7 days.
Check this one it is a Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15.6" however it is a Rayzen 5 not i5. Price $758.88, shipping $56, and customs fees $163, total $980.
11-12 million Africans were transported into the New World as slaves. Between the years 1500-1800, 3 million (2 million Christians and 1 million Muslims) were enslaved in the Mediterranean. The transatlantic slave trade was on a way bigger scale. Contrary to common perception, the Barbary slave trade wasn't the only form that was happening in the Mediterranean. Many Muslims were enslaved in Italy and Malta along the Mediterranean Sea.
there are a few books from Amazon such as this one:https://www.amazon.com/Lonely-Planet-Moroccan-Phrasebook-Dictionary/dp/1741791375/ref=pd\_bxgy\_img\_1/134-2253749-4405645?pd\_rd\_w=ywrlO&pf\_rd\_p=6b3eefea-7b16-43e9-bc45-2e332cbf99da&pf\_rd\_r=EYM5CF4TJHQ12EY17SPV&pd\_rd\_r=aa9891b9...
I’d go with a course that has many high reviews. Read the comments and research the companies.
Ssalam! Does anyone have a recommendation for a Darija specific app or audiobook?
I’ve tried pilsmeur but it is only standard Arabic. Arabic Pod 101 has a section on “Moroccan Arabic” but I don’t find it enjoyable really.
I did find this audiobook on audible. It seems cool cause it’s set to music. I might give it a try.
Any ideas welcome! Shukran!
I and my two young friends rented a car for 6 days, we travelled via the cost from Casablanca to Essaouira, we enjoyed it ( Europe car ). The second time we booked a guied tour and we enjoyed it more than first time ( the guides there are young and a lot of fun, it is like travellign with friends) http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g293734-d2708407-Reviews-Camel_Safaries_Day_Tours-Marrakech_Marrakech_Tensift_El_Haouz_Region.html#REVIEWS
This was with https://www.ancestry.com/ I paid about $50 because it was on sale. They send you a kit to collect your saliva. This was done about 3 years ago. I’m pretty sure there are other companies that do this.
I'm using win by inwi but I only have a 3G modem. I took this speedtest just now and the upload speed averages at 3.52 mbps. Keep in mind that it would be higher if I were using a 4G stick. I wrote a more detailed review on my blog if you're interested
Try these combinations:
Then, please, report back.
I'm with Maroc Telecom on their 200Mbps plan. I'm paying 1000 MAD a month which I think is a lot.
They gave me a Huawei HG8245H5 which doesn't support 5 GHz WiFi, the thing is, in general, junk but at least it works. I am going to get another router and try the bridge mode thing.
Speed Tests:
From: Marrakech, To: London Vodafone
Speed: 222.36Mbps
Amazon US has an offer now that ships to Morocco:
Use uphold, they are legit and are so far not blacklisted by Moroccan banks (so you can use your card directly without 3rd party). And then you can just transfer to your favourite platform (Binance or etc) using the magic of cryptocurrency, or you could just hold your currency there like I do. Although I don't think they do NFTs but it's easy to do that yourself once you have cryptocurrency instead of fiat.
I've been using them for around 4 years now ever since they partnered with the Brave browser and have never had any problems.
As a major city, it seems Tangiers has a pretty extended bus network, at least as it is represented on the transport layer map here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/search?query=tanger#map=13/35.7688/-5.8259&layers=T
Beside any technical skills that one may need to design such bus maps, the difficulty also resides in the availability and the accuracy of the data upon which to build a map: what are the routes and stops along them? Do they operate in both directions, at part or at all time ? and so on...
Many cities don't have a unified network of transportations, some even only move people through an informal fleet of privately-owned buses and such which don't always gather nor share any kind of information to the public - either by lack of means/interest or because they expect their riders to be already familiar to the system anyway
Thanks for the quick answer. I saw the canisters on the decathlon page, but the CV470 for example was only available at one store. Screenshot.
I only have an old small stove, which I want to replace. Maybe I'll just buy one once I'm in Morocco. Can you get camping stoves like this anywhere or just in specialty camping/tracking shops?
In my humble opinion, the boycott had been and still effective and the aim of it is not to target specific brands but rather the whole products to drive the prices down. Recently Danone called the "Boycotters" to a sit-down in order to discuss the "pricing problem" which to me is an evidence that it's working. did the dust settled? Hmm, maybe a little bit. The boycott is still active.
As for what what nadiafreedom said about Akhanouch loosing 150k per day, it means that he's loosing what he would've gained if Africa Oil wasn't boycotted which is essentially loosing money. Akhanouch is well off and if he decided not to work, he'll still be living like a king for the rest of his life.
Surprisingly, this CAM version is pretty decent. WTF?! Normally, I would steer clear of potato CAM versions until the real deal is out. It's too late now! 🤣
If your budget is that I advise you to buy from Amazon as it is way cheaper than local prices even considering customs.
I would personally advise this laptop though it goes a bit over your budget as it costs around 16000dh, as it is a great laptop, it has 100%srgb 244 Hz screen ( meaning colours would be accurate relative to real colours), a full-powered 115w rtx 3060 ( which allow for better performance compared to laptops that have lower wattage rtx 3060), a 11th gen 8 cores i7-11800h ( one of the fastest laptop CPU currently), thunderbolt 4 which allows for fast transmission of data ( it would allow you even to connect a desktop GPU if you wish).

Thanks for proving that you do not know what socialism is or how economy works. For your own development, I'd advise this book, learn how to write properly first, then you can quote books you've never read.
I found this: https://www.amazon.com/Oculus-Quest-Advanced-All-One-Carrying/dp/B099VMT8VZ?th=1
Here is how much you have to pay for a new Oculus Quest 2 from Amazon:
item: $299 (the same price from the Meta store)
shipping: $48.43
total before tax: $347.43
import fees: $80.78 (it should be only $74.75 which is the typical 25% import fee in Morocco, but Amazon refunds you if they need to pay less tax)
Total: $428.21 which is an 43% increase (for me I think it's the best deal to get for us Moroccans, I personally see no better offers)
they say "the stock is purchased in your name" however if this is true you should be able to transfer your stocks to other brokers and use your voting rights, if you have an account try to contact their live support
What they're saying is "eToro will hold the stocks on your behalf in a segregated omnibus account" and also "you cannot use the allocated voting rights".
If you can't transfer out your shares, you can't vote, are you really the owner?
Aren't there some better alternatives accessible from Morocco (like Interactive Brokers or something)?
I know what you are talking about and I had it many times but I don't know the official name of it. But I think it is this one:
http://www.amideastfeast.com/recipes/matbucha
http://www.instructables.com/id/HOW-TO-MAKE-MORROCAN-HOTSAUCE-MATBUCHA/
Just rechecked, and yup that true, my bad.
The site that OP used appear to be https://www.speedtest.net/
And they measure in megabits per second.
Well, then we are getting screwed real badly, and it's only that; there is many things that are important in an internet connection than just speed, namely ping (some time is necessary for the message to travel but crappy overcharged servers contribute tremendously), and packets loss ratio.. And no need to check on those, I am sure they are dreadful.
East coast is a lot more humid though. That's a different kind of heat.
I went to Florida with a girl from Taroudant. She lasted about an hour and a half before changing out of hijab/long sleeves into a light dress. She started feeling so sick.
In Morocco the long clothes will just cover you, in the southern/eastern US, they turn into a coffin.
Compare the humidity in kinedra here where it can be "muggy" on bad days.
To Charleston here where it is "miserable" around half of the time.
I'd take the train to Marrakesh and then a bus to Agadir, but you can also take a CTM straight to Agadir, and that probably stops at Taghazout. Not sure.
Check out http://www.rome2rio.com/s/Rabat/Taghazout for more traveling ideas!
I see. The vast majority of tv shows are in Moroccan Darija; their subtitles are in French, however. If you think you can manage with French subtitles; I recommend the following: https://www.tvtime.com/fr/show/320453
no a sadi9i, it's not.
2340 eur is 2706 usd
according to pc part picker the rig is worth 1238$ WITHOUT the gpu (take this estimation with a grain of salt as most of these stuff are probably out of stock)
that leaves 1468$ for the GPU, i read in your comment that it's a dual GTX 1080 TI jetstream,
according to this website pricespy.uk , in 2016 it was sold for the price of 600£ , that's 800$ each (this using it original price not current inflated price of 1200$)
so you have 1238$+(800*2) = 2838$ instead of 2706$, so you actually got it cheaper than what the parts worth.
could you find better parts today ? well you could get new gen GPU better and cheaper BUT wait, you cant cus of scalpers and chips shortage. intel say that the shortage will end in 2023 so yeah, do with these in formations as you wish my friend
> Let's block online news sites because they are not registered as newspapers in Morocco and the people that run them don't have a journalist card.
No they do.
> Get it? If not read the following example.
Don't get me wrong but what most of Moroccan internet users don't realize is that nobody can censure the internet no matter how hard they try. The problem is a bit tricky and involves a little internet knowledge. Long story short, we should use self-hosted, decentralized, distributed and peer to peer technologies to communicate and not rely on a big corporation to do our computing. If you use Tox to call your friends, nobody can stop you. Just don't wazzap or fessebook.
Please give prism-break.org a visit.
ProtonVPN has an amazing reputation, but i can't recommend any other VPNs, especially known ones. because Former Malware Distributor Kape Technologies Now Owns ExpressVPN, CyberGhost, Private Internet Access, Zenmate, and a Collection of VPN “Review” Websites
Since you're so bored you gotta go through my reddit history and make stupid assumptions, may I suggest a book instead?
I use Melon VPN which is literally blocked by Netflix, and pretty much all the others I tried.
The ones that get advertised a lot like Nord, ExpressVPN, Surfshark or CyberGhost etc, I just couldn't afford those.
Maati Monjib is a well known worldwide reference for modern Moroccan history.
also i think you can find the work of Ibn Khaldun in english too(i've seen it in French) .. it covers the history of north africa and its tribes from the arrival of islam to the 14th!
You can read this book to gain some historical knowledge about Amazighs, before Arabs came to North Africa. https://www.amazon.ca/Berbers-Peoples-Africa-Michael-Brett/dp/0631207678 . Also, there is a group in Facebook called “imazighen in USA”, join and you’ll learn much more.
italki is good, there are actually quite a few Moroccan teachers on there. But try out a few, some are more professional than others. Make sure you find someone who is actually Moroccan vs. someone that just teaches darija but is from another country.

Beyond that, I found a good YT channel called "Painless Arabic" that focuses on Darija. There are some others as well. And Also just try to watch Moroccan stuff on YT, e.g., talk shows, music, movies, TV, etc...all that will help. This is also a good darija dictionary (https://www.amazon.com/dp/0615530796/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_xEt1FbSQ1ZSCJ)

Mostly its just getting into the habit of using darija every day in some form. Set a schedule and stick to it. Like most skills / habits...
Wa aleikum salaam wa rahmatullahi wa baakatuh,
What a nice gesture! I don't know what kind of needs the parents have, but I (American) really struggled with the selection in Morocco. Also, the markup is insane. If they speak English, I recommend books! Even if they don't..haha.
Cute clothes from Carter's, size up!
A toy that speaks English, like counting and the alphabet. We have this which I like because it grows with the kids
Kinetic sand!
Dinosaurs with a nice dinosaur play mat (jungle-y)
Cars with a nice car play mat
Any construction items like duplo, stacking blocks, velcro bricks, etc
Brands: Fisher Price, Bright Starts, Baby Einstein, VTech, all really overpriced and not a good selection
Hope they love it!
I confirm that memory foam mattress is the best I've got this one from Amazon with 10 years warranty, here is the link
Read the reviews to have an idea about the article.
Too bad Amazon does not ship to Morocco.
If you mean daily micro transactions then I'd recommend using a mobile wallet instead of going through bank deposits since internal transactions in most of the mobile wallets are free of charge like JIBI
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.b3g.wafacash.jibi
Or WEPAY
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.b3g.cih.wepay
Does Google Maps navigation work for you? Waze works well, but Maps only gives a preview in Maroc for me.
Try Jumia food: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jumiafood.android&hl=en
It depends on who's the seller,
Bestmarks for example lists the HP spectre at 16999, abroad it's around 1249USD (Approximately 12000 MAD). That's a 41% cut.
I found the Lenovo Legion 5 on Amazon for 989USD, it ships to morocco but if we add shipping and import fees it becomes 1323,24 USD.
I get mine on Amazon. It only works with Amazon US for me though, so your PSN account needs to be US based. PSN cards for French accounts are available on Amazon France, but they're geo-restricted. I get them for my little cousin from Starselect.
yes for sure Amazon.com
I use OsmAnd when navigating in Morocco, otherwise people just give approximations ('next to school X on road Y' or 'do you know mosque x? Go straight, take the second turn, and ask for Y')
I had been using this which works like you explained. I just add water and let it simmer for a little while.
However I bought this (locally, not on Amazon) and it had all the complicated directions on the back.
Do you think it would work if I just added water and simmered fior a while?
You're a treasure trove of info, thanks man.
I've decided to learn MSA/read Arabic via Pimsleur and use Peace Corps materials plus this text to work on Darija later on.
Much appreciate the offer of help :)
I've decided to first learn Fus7a/MSA, as I have pimsleur tapes for these languages and need to know it to read regardless and can use it in other Arab countries, like Mauritania, which I will also be passing through.
Then later I will study some Darija, here is a book I have bought:
Rather than asking for directions, you can download an app (Here maps - Android - iOS ) and download a full offline searchable map of Morocco to use on your smartphone without using your data.
Otherwise, as others said, Morocco is generally a very safe place, and as long as you avoid sketchy areas and people, you'll be fine.
