Sounds dope!
Be super careful with that adapter
Between the 1/4 inch and the adapter itself you're introducing a ton of leverage
Doesnt take much force to cause damage
Messed up my output jack with one of those
You may wanna switch to one like this

I have a backorder from MOMA store that I made in February (because I’m a member so get 20% discount AND I had a $100 gift card to use), MOMA was estimating them to be in stock today but I have a sinking feeling that I’ll still be waiting a long time and wish I could just hit that buy now button on Amazon! 😞
I just got a generic 3.5mm antenna from Amazon for $5 which works great. Although from what I can tell, just having headphones plugged in works just as well.
I also invested in the T.E. screen protector.. $15 to help protect the screen of a $900 instrument seems like a no-brainer. I've heard the screen can scratch easily, though that may have just been older models, I'm not sure.
for stereo you need a cable that goes from the 3.5mm on the op1 to a two 1/4 inch jacks I to the scarlet. Something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/HosaTech-CMP-153-3-5mm-Stereo-Breakout/dp/B000068O3C.
Then in your daw you need to make sure to record in stereo either setting it to stereo or using two tracks with scarlet solo input 1 on one track and input 2 on another. I’m not sure if the windows camera app can record in stereo from the scarlet. But give it a go with the right cable.
Yeah the stock drums are a little odd I found out. I've been using a couple custom kits I made out of drum one shots I already had. I get 90% of my drums from this dude -- https://sellfy.com/thekount
As far as the song I used one of the custom kits on the OP-1 and then did another pass with a kick and snare over top in ableton. Just sounded a bit fuller to me.
Got this on Amazon Canada: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B083VX3XCG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_A0G4QW7XSFK8Y4VD3NSQ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Not made for the OP-1 but fits perfectly and has some space for cables! Love it.
Thanks! I found this on Amazon for $22, but with free shipping: https://www.amazon.com/SRA-Cases-Aluminum-Black-Inches/dp/B00NPZ28KM/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1484671500&sr=8-13&keywords=sra+case
Just ordered one.
I grabbed this off Amazon for $20

I am not much of a musician, but I have a lot of fun noodling around on my OP-1. I have the sample packs that Cuckoo has put out, and they are all high quality and well worth it. And as u/andycaster pointed out, op1.fun has a lot of great samples you can install (for free).

It works great and has storage for cables.
Arturia package one with I think it was the Beatstep Pro.
The other thing would be to disable USB charging which is done in COM menu option 4 OPT
The other other thing would be to find a mini-B to USB-A cable that has a ferrite choke.

As someone else mentioned make sure you are not charging the op-1 via usb because you’ll will hear noise. I use one of these as well and it works well. what the other guy said. the inputs are mono, not stereo, so if you’re only plugging into one, you’re going to have a mono track recorded or just one one side, depending on how the program you’re using for recording is set up.
you’ll need to slit the signal to both inputs, but it’s going to take a bit more extra work since you have two different inputs and different level settings. i have a cable thats 3.5mm trs on one end and dual 1/4” ts on the other, like this https://www.amazon.ca/UGREEN-Splitter-Computer-Multimedia-Speakers/dp/B00ZKM3S4S/ref=asc_df_B00ZKM3S4S/?tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=293006146499&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11112419885991639291&hvpone=&hvptwo=&a...
you could get one of those and a 1/4” to xlr adapter and try that, otherwise you’ll want an interface that has two inputs that allow both xlr and 1/4”
I got one of those too (a decksaver) for my op-1, great buy!.
Also, analog cases’ op-1 case works great with this cover, fits very well, and its amazing.
I think it depends what exactly you're trying to do. If Ableton is part of your workflow, you could simply connect both devices to your computer via USB. From there you'd have plenty of options to choose from to get everything synced to one MIDI clock.
If you don't want to have to depend on a computer. Maybe you want to have the Digitakt send MIDI to the OP1 or vis-a-versa? In that case you could get some sort of MIDI USB host and plug your OP-1 into that. That will let you connect normal MIDI in/out cables.
I plugged my bass into the POG2 pedal, then straight into the OP1 using an eighth inch to female quarter inch adapter like this: https://www.amazon.com/VCE-Plated-6-35mm-Female-Adapter-8inch/dp/B078X85LFS
No interface. I made another video where I played guitar and for that I did the same thing with a reverb pedal instead of the POG2. Here's what that sounded like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRw69lRpQJA
What works for me is slightly simpler. I use a TS instrument cable (like a guitar cable) and a TS quarter inch to 1/8th inch adapter (like this).
I'm curious about the ground loop hum. Is that because the OP-1 is connected via USB to the computer?
Waveshare sh1106, off Amazon. Driving it with the luma display library.

Regarding the fx, I just got a pisound which is fantastic for that sort of thing. MODEP is really cool, I've been using it to put fx on my guitar to record into the op-1 track.
Case on Amazon $23 shipped
Custom cut foam from MyCaseBuilder.com $32 shipped
I see it's listed as 1,264 on Amazon prime, not sure if that's truly next day or not, but it's listed at $900ish everywhere else. I think I paid $950ish after taxes.
I actually purchased one about a year ago and barely use it...thinking about parting with it. I still have it in it's original box too. If I was in Seattle, would you buy it from me?
You could also get one for the 1/4in jack instead, mine was $8 on amazon and works great: https://www.amazon.com/Mpow-Ground-Isolator-Stereo-System/dp/B019393MV2/ref=pd_aw_lpo_107_bs_tr_img_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=G2TS68BSH7H411W1NAR9
I think I'd get more use out of something like this and the extra $550 instead.
So I actually bought this case after buying a $15 hermit shell case for bluetooth keyboards and can confirm it's almost exactly the same except a little more padding and a more plush inside...but it costs $40-50...I ended up returning it.
Side by side comparison via amazon:
also, answer to the most common follow up q: yes, it will fit inside the hermit shell with some cables + a decksaver.
Update on this: I love the design of the op-1 and all the cool tunes it can make. Watching YouTubers do it is hypnotic, and I can't help but want to do the same thing as them. But I would have no clue what I'm doing.
I think I'll just get a Xey 25 USB for now to learn music making (Unless someone can suggest something better!). Then maybe get a full on synthesizer later on if I feel like it interests me.
Also, wow, I expected the comments to be terrible because I asked a super simple question. Instead, they were all actually really helpful. Thanks for all the replies!
I could be wrong as I haven't had my OP-1 in a while, but I believe when it's in controller mode (using the OP-1 as a keyboard to control the XD) you can't record to the tape. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this. To record the XD to the OP-1 you'll need a stereo 1/4in to single 1/8in adapter. Should look something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-3-5mm-6-35mm-Breakout/dp/B07PJTP7DR/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2SWCYH2HPYDAV&keywords=stereo+1%2F4+to+1%2F8&qid=1662496985&sprefix=stereo+1%2F4+to+1%2F8%2Caps%2C713&sr=8-3
You probably don't want a six foot cable but that should give you an idea of what to look for.
I'm assuming you have an original OP-1, in which case it's worth noting that the tape can only record in mono, so you won't be able to take advantage of the XDs beautiful stereo effects. Personally, I would look at getting a cheap USB audio interface and recording to your computer. If you go this route you should also be able to sync the two together using a DAW of your choice as the master.
Switch cases are a too small IIRC. Most people use case on amazon meant for a MacBook keyboard
Have it for mine and it’s perfect.

You need either a 1.) lightning to 3.5mm adapter and 3.5mm to 3.5mm aux cable or 2.) a camera connection kit and the usb cable that came with the OP-1. For the first method grab the dongle (Apple Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LXJFMGF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_MDCW49Z46NE9CMPY3S69?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) and plug an aux cable from that into the red jack on the side of the OP-1. For the second method, take the camera connection kit (Apple Lightning to USB3 Camera Adapter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01F7KJDIM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_VZY9G3M4H9NDEVCNHJXN) and plug the usb cables the only way they’ll fit. Sorry for formatting, I’m on mobile.
You could try a ground lifter. May not work but it has worked many mini synths for me.
Ground Lifter:

On my OP-1 though I think the noise is only there when I connect USB and it goes away when not connected. Did you try both ways?
Also, X-Noise plug in by Waves is phenomenal at removing this kind of noise transparently, its like $30 bucks i think
You need a cable that splits into Ring and Tip like [this].(https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000068O5H?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details)
You set the OP-1 clock to Pocket Operator sync and it sends a clock signal from the Tip. The Ring goes to the DAW.
Quick update in case anyone else from the future encounters similar issues with the OP1 not playing properly. I was pretty sure it was water damage as lots of features were working oddly.
I bought these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0781BN1BZ
I didn't have a ziplock bag big enough so I wrapped the OP1 up with the desiccant packs in several layers of bags, all taped up. I left it in a warm room with a dehumidifier for a few days.
When I took it out, it worked again! Not quite 100% -- the colored pots jiggle around a bit -- but it's perfectly usable. I'm keeping it with the desiccant bags in case they can dry it a bit more and hopefully fix the pots.
Hopefully this isn't a temporary blip, but time will tell. Lesson learned: be very careful how you store your OP1 if you're not going to use it for a while!
For anyone trying to do a similar setup on iPhone. You can get a lightning to audio out and this thing… https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078HGFS3Z/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_NE4EK6B2PC4HPWX9AH1B?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
No mixer necessary.
I can also recommend Inkscape - it's like the free, open-source version of Illustrator. it has a pretty great community and a bunch of tutorials too. Here is one for isometric drawing!
This is the one I purchased, and it works great.

Can’t man wouldn’t be right but here’s a link to the kit if you want to pick it up! https://sellfy.com/thekount/
Really solid sounds tbh better then the stuff I found on splice tbh Edit it’s free!!!
Make sure you turn off charging by USB if you are plugged in while recording the audio, and even then it can still be noisy. Buying a ground loop isolator cured any noisy signal issues for me. https://www.amazon.com/BESIGN-Ground-Isolator-Stereo-System/dp/B06XQYN77L/ref=sr\_1\_3?dchild=1&keywords=ground+loop+isolator&qid=1633449199&sr=8-3
Pre-order this:
I have the older white version and it’s great. The cheaper version lacks some inputs and features. There’s lots of options for mono channels (Rolls brand, The Bastl Dude), but not many with stereo.
This one is also interesting, but a relatively new brand: Flamma FM10 Runs off usb so could be powered off a powerbank.
I did something similar today with my pedal board and Iridium into my Scarlett 2i2 then into my iPad. So I think, if I’m understanding correctly:
OP-1 > 3.5mm stereo split TRS(?) cable > reverb pedal > both TRS (?) cables into the Scarlett > laptop. The headphones should plug into the Scarlett I believe.
I saw this recommendation from another OP-1 thread, but honestly can’t remember if it’s TS or TRS. https://www.amazon.co.uk/HosaTech-CMP-153-3-5mm-Stereo-Breakout/dp/B000068O3C
I could be dead wrong, but trying to think it through and help!lol
I don't have one to sell but it looks like this one is available on amazon - it's the one I have and I like it quite a bit:
Im using this currently, it’s a case for a Logitech Keyboard but it fits the op1 great.
It’s a semi hard shell with not too much padding on the inside. It’s perfect and thin enough to put into another bag.
https://www.amazon.com/Aproca-Logitech-Multi-Device-Wireless-Keyboard/dp/B07PKN221X
Here's the link. I have this case for my mechanical keyboard. It's just a soft neoprene sleeve. Inexpensive, but offers some protection against bumps and scratches.
You’re gonna want a stereo cable like this one Hosa CMP-159 3.5 mm TRS to Dual 1/4" TS Stereo Breakout Cable, 10 Feet https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005HGM1D6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_M7G9BH30KZ9K2ZWQGE5N
you may need to ground your signal - downside of battery powered devices in general but someone with real signal/electrical knowledge would know better. the below works for me
Mpow Ground Loop Noise Isolator for Car Audio/Home Stereo System with 3.5mm Audio Cable (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019393MV2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_GQ4YDFGDY4H8ANNE0C91?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Not sure why this is downvoted -- it really is a DC powersupply (just the front part of it). Here's a similar one:
https://smile.amazon.com/Dr-meter-Single-Output-Switchable-Alligator-included/dp/B00O8DJ8QC/
That cable is a mono cable. Usually the L channel on stereo synths is used as a mono source but based on the image of the Nord Grand I saw it doesn't specifically state that the Left channel does mono like, say, a Digitakt or Novation Peak would say.
Either way, you're only getting one channel into the OP-1 and that type of cable is likely the problem for the volume being lower. You best bet is to get a cable like this
I use this case for my OP-1. It's a hard case and big enough to fit my OP-1 with the deck saver. Just know that the case is longer than the OP-1, so there is some free space for you to store like an extra cable.
I got this mechanical keyboard case from Amazon and it fits the OP-1 well. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B083VX3XCG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
check out this interface too!
https://www.amazon.com/Focusrite-Scarlett-Audio-Interface-Tools/dp/B07QR73T66
It'll be able to take your Mic's, and an op-1 no problem. Another thing to consider more long term is getting a DAW you can work with that'll be easier than audacity. Audacity is pretty bare bones and makes a lot of things kind of a pain to do in terms of workflow that many other DAWs come with built in. I personally use Reason and find it pairs really well with the stuff I make on my op-1 and opz.
The 1/8” to 1/4” adapter should have only one ring on it. It’d be worth double checking if you’re not certain. I’m currently using this along with a guitar/instrument cable.
Personally I use popular [Mpow Ground Loop Noise Isolator](https://www.amazon.com/Mpow-Ground-Isolator-Stereo-System/dp/B019393MV2) for hiss minimizing.
Also I liked this recent video method, but didn't try by myself.
Guess it depends how big. You could always go the raspberry pi route, but if you want a 7+ inch screen you could use a cheap android tablet for ~$50 new and any audio visualization app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.psperl.prjM&hl=en_US&gl=US
Wow; would not have thought about that, thank you!
Would this work?
Also, would I plug both ends into different inputs to record, or just one?
do they fit on the same axle size as these? I'm in a bit of a remote location and it would be cheaper for me to buy them on amazon https://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Vehicle-Construction-Minifigure-30348/dp/B01BH9BAKQ/ref=sr_1_19?ie=UTF8&qid=1526895439&sr=8-19&keywords=lego+city+construction
Same setup here. You'll need to install this driver, at first. After that, your phone will recognize and mount OP-1 exFat storage: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.paragon.tcplugins_ntfs_ro
Also that nice tool exists too: (then you don't need a driver, as i remember): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.metske.oputility
EDIT: I used the wrong splitter below. Check u/johnghadimi's post below for the correct splitter.
~~No. It does not work officially or unofficially.~~
~~I just gave it a try. First I tried using a~~ ~~splitter~~ ~~to separate the audio out from the mic. The mic jack was recognized (mic icon turned to a jack) but no audio could be received. Then I tried plugging the M-1 jack directly into the audio out and mic jacks independently. In each case I tried pushing the mic enable button on the M-1. Nothing I tried worked.~~
~~I suspect the M-1 mic enable function only works with the OP-Z. Too bad. Although the small, on-ear pads tend to hurt my ears after an hour or so, the sound quality (and even bass) was surprisingly ok. Not, say, Sony 7506 ok but still pretty good.~~
Very happy with this $25-ish SRA case myself (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NPZ28KM). Sacrifices any special pockets or storage, but it's got an inch thick of foam, plastic, and aluminum on all sides. The OP-1 being so thin makes it very flexible for storage.
Jesus people will just buy anything.
I got one of these for my OP-1 and it fits the aesthetic pretty well whilst not being a plastic bag that offers no protection and only costing twenty quid. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B017KJU55S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Hey, I have one and I'd part with it.
But why would you prefer this case over the Hermit Shell one?
I vastly preferred it.
This is my favorite, but is a DIY project. If you live in a city though, you can have a local shop with a laser cutter cut all the parts for you. Get a sheet of walnut, and you’ll have a great looking case.
https://www.instructables.com/id/Wooden-OP-1-Case/
For the cheapest option out there, this one has treated me well.
Hermitshell for Apple MC184LL/B Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard Hard EVA Travel Storage Carrying Case Cover Bag https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CNM3TM8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_wjiwFbH8TRANH
For all OP-1 users - there is a device which GREATLY reduces the noise floor on the OP-1, and no this is not an advertisement, just a tip which never seems to get enough attention because this question always comes up. The device is excellent and pretty inexpensive. Noise level isn't too much of an issue when using the OP-1 by itself through it's own speakers. But as soon as you integrate it into a studio environment, the noise is really bad. This pretty much wipes it out.
The OP-1 does not do audio over USB. You'll need a USB adapter like this if your laptop doesn't have a 3.5mm TRS compatible mic input.

Edit: I forgot you mentioned the Apogee Duet, it has two line inputs that you could utilize, and would probably be the easiest route.
Yeah just a bit. A plastic pencil case would be just as effective and you can buy half a dozen of them for £4.49 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pencil-Through-12-5cm-Transparent-Strong/dp/B00IZJAXJQ/ref=sr_1_9?crid=2FJT9LLO2H6PW&dchild=1&keywords=transparent+pencil+case+large&qid=1594578552&sprefix=transparent+pencil+case%2Caps%2C146&sr=8-9 Admittedly they aren't quite big enough, but you get the idea.

I found a solution with Total Commander and the USB Stick Plugin.
It's a pretty silly user interface and the USB plugin costs a buck but it works.

This is the one I got, but it isn't available. You can probably browse through the other stuff there and see something similar.
I use something like this with my Android and it works great to force the right input. I then use a normal splitter off the OP-1 to get headphones in as well.
Not sure if it works on iPhone.
I'm not 100% sure on those. That said, this kit has the 56890 ones from the link above (it's what I bought) and they fit perfectly: https://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Jungle-30355-Minifigure-Polybag/dp/B01MR8226Y
is there a mic/line option on your interface? maybe it's set to the wrong one... how much input gain do you have dialed on the interface? perhaps it's up too high. those are my thoughts.. i also use a cheap noise isolator from amazon, and it's working perfect over here.
That can be prevented with a ground loop isolator on the OP-1 output.
I've had laptops and cell phones make that noise while charging as well, but the OP-1 does have a pretty loud whine.
If it's a short run to the mixer you can get away with unbalanced connection, but at least grab one of these to eliminate the ground loop. Also, no charging while playing!
It’s a Pelican 1085 case that goes for about $60. You cut the foam yourself, I’d recommend using a brand new razor blade.

I know you can disable the charging if you’re plugged into a computer but mine is noisey regardless... might need something like this: PYLE-PRO PHE400 Hum/Noise Eliminator 2-Channel Box with TRS Phone and XLR Inputs/Outputs https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BARTW42/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_3eeuAb52B4YF6

Also you could do a search for "blow molded case" and find the dimensions that work, but you'll have to add padding yourself.

It does need a battery. There are similar products related on Amazon. It's a great thing for mixing on the go.
I travel a lot, and even though the OP-1 does not feel fragile, I was still worried about it. I usually stuff it inside my backback next to some other stuff, and even though I always take it into the cabin, the backback sometimes takes a beating.
So I decided to buy the original softcase, and although it's quite expensive, I love it. Yes, it's not slim and it adds quite a bit of thickness to your OP-1, but it has super soft pillows inside and I have no doubt it will protect the OP-1 if my backback gets thrown around. Plus, I love the little pouch it has, I stuffed the USB cable and a stereo jack cable in there, and it's been great when I'm doing stuff on the go!
If anyone is looking for a hard shell case, I use this: https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-Replacement-Hard-Microphones-Black/dp/B010RD62C4
Super cheap, and has foam inside. Just use a sharp knife and cut foam to fit. The OP-1 fits perfectly, and the case isn't too thick.
Had it already, came with the markers, fits perfectly.
I was consistently disappointed by the rather expensive hardcases for the OP-1 that didn't look like they would protect my $950 investment properly.. So I did some searching on Amazon and found this lil diddly for a mere $25! Fits like a glove and is still compact enough to put in my backpack.

I know what you mean, I wish there was an option to lock the record key in off position sometimes ;-)
I just saw this rechargeable reading light on Amazon that might be more useful...it's a few dollars cheaper too.
I got a traktor X1 case online that was about exactly the right size to hold an OP-1 in one half, and then i put a piece of cardboard on top of it and put a po-12, audio recorder and cables in the top half. It was pretty cheap and it's perfect for me.

I have a couple of suggestions that i think would work great as they are both durable and cheap: this JAM rewind is literally the size of two iphones 5 stacked, the quality is surprisingly good for its price range. And this JBL flip 3 , the size on this is like a bottle, it fits in most backpack's side pocket
PS: you will need a jack cable for both of these as its not included
I use a little BOSE Soundlink, which sounds great. The battery life was fantastic when I first got it, but now after a few years it's definitely gotten worse. It still runs for a few hours, which is all I really need.
I recommend the behringer uca202 (the uca222 is the same in red) if you only want to use it for simple monitoring/recording/listen with headphones. the sound quality you get good and you don't get anything better for this price. https://www.amazon.com/Behringer-UCA202-BEHRINGER-U-CONTROL/dp/B000KW2YEI you can use this cable for stereo input https://www.amazon.com/Generic-F8V235-12-3-5mm-cable-12-Feet/dp/B000067RBT
