I wrote a script that enables gifting to friends who already own the game.

It's super trivial because it's a client-side restriction. Technically you can send gifts to any Steam user, even if you don't have them on your friends list. Dispenser does this.

It activates as subid: 59557 which is actually not ROW at all so really there is nothing stopping Valve from adding the "onlyallowrunincountries" tag later.

Only time will tell.

I do not believe Nvidia offers a steam key. From what I was told, it adds it directly to your account, as part of the redemption process, like how Humble used to do it.

I don't think you can redeem the Nvidia key without specifying which steam account to redeem Batman to.

And you can look at the Properties of a game by rightclicking it in your library. There is a tab for every game named DLC with a list of all the DLC included.

Edit: A third way to look what you own is to go to the store page of a game. The DLCs you own have a blue bar in front of their name. Enhanced Steam makes the whole bar with the name of the DLC green if you own it.

You add a 4 pack to your cart in a browser(logged in) and then change the url to this. This is the url you get when you try to gift something that is not a 4 pack. It basically overrides it and lets you gift a 4 pack or add a 4 pack into your inv.

You can also check if someone is verified and their PayPal account age before you trade by getting their email. Using this:

For those that are not sure of what it means, it is just a small annoyance that sellers/traders will have to overcome in order keep their buyers/themselves informed.

For example, Resident Evil Revelations 2 SubID's.

Notice how there are names in gray next to each subID. Look at subID 60846. In gray, it is easy to notice the (RU) tag, where you could then investigate further to see the kind of restriction it has (Activation, Run, Purchase lock etc.). This is also helpful in figuring out if the package was a Pre-Purchase, etc. Imagine if those gray names were not there and only subID numbers. That is what is happening.

Seeing it was $5-8 on multiple sites many times already and 1 key roughly equals to $2 - do the math and post a thread.

First result on search also says 4 keys, so I would aim around that value.

It basically means that because they share the same sub #, any changes made to the game version that's being sold in China would affect the US version too (because they are the same version).

So if the Chinese version had only Chinese language as an option, so would the US version. :)

It is possible that they will create a new sub # and start selling it only in China, and in that case this would of course change, but even that could not affect the gifts that have been sold before this happens.

EDIT: Aaand this is exactly what happened just now, they created a new sub # for the Chinese store version and region locked it, so no more cheap Chinese copies, I'm afraid. India also got its own sub #, so same thing there. ~~I think the Brazilian one is the cheapest ROW copy right now.~~

Sadly, this isn't the first time they backed out.. something similar happened with the IGN Prime subscribers, whom got 15% off of gamersgate.com for life - well, that's what the advertisement said - however it has been withdrawn right before this year's holiday sale.. how convenient!

There is a System for this in place already, they wouldnt need to change the System but only set a flag on the Game. Its called "prohibitrunincountries" and lets Steam block the game from beeing started in the flagged countrys. Its very unlikely to happen buts its entirely possible with the current System.

For example you cant run the uncensored version Wolfenstein The New Order in Germany because its on the index of forbidden Games, mainly due to the Swastikas. You can see the flag on the ROW package: https://steamdb.info/sub/41691/

Edit: there is also the flag "onlyallowrunincountries" which in theory can be set to Norway and would only allow the game to be started from Norway. Again its extremely unlikely to happen, even more so since it was a Price glitch and not something like a pre-purchase from a cheap steam region that gets locked retroactively, but in theory its easily doable with the current System without any big effort from Valve.

Well according to the first part, that rule is already in place. If buying on demand (not in inventory at time of purchase), it has to be from the steam account attached to your flair.

If there are any locked subs, the only way to know is to activate it and then use licenses_for_app to see what you got.

Looks like some devs are awared of this and don't want it at all. Hopefully more devs will do the same thing...and push Steam to remove this shit. Like many people, I thought the regional restrictions was added by devs/publishers. But now we see games are locked by default by Steam and devs have to ask Steam to remove it. Turns out the greedy bastard isn't devs or publishers but Steam itself.

PL doesn't have such prices. We are in Steam classed as Tier2 Europe, which is really unfair for customers. CoD:AW costs 59 euro on Steam store when monthly salary here (before tax) is about 450-500 euro.

I linked you to Tampermonkey and this userscript which allows you to send gifts to someone who already owns a game, both of which are perfectly benign.

Either go to the DLC store page, and it'll say whether you own it already, or go here and check if it's listed there.

DLC is treated the exact same as games in terms of trading, you have to buy it as a gift and select "add to inventory" option during checkout.

It's Steam policy - you can't send more then 2 same gifts to the same email acc. Here is the solution: http://10minutemail.com/ Just as you enter the site they give you temp email and you can have dozens. That's a way to get all your gifts.

If you you would rather just trade a Amazon gift card code, get the "print at home" version. You can copy the key from the PDF file they send you and then give it to whoever you're trading with. I've done this for trades in the past as well and got my codes generally within 10 minutes of purchase.

Sending an email gift card redeems the balance onto their account when they open it, there is no key involved.

I don't think this price is actually possible. The publisher is Activision, which is famous for having disappointing discount. I think they don't discount any of their (well selling) games more than 50%. This would mean it would be ~$15, which makes it 7 keys. I would wait for the summer sale though, which starts tomorrow (23rd).

I use Enhanced Steam for looking at the lowest prices games have been. ES uses IsThereAnyDeal.com for looking up the historical lowest prices, but it's down right now.

Would you be interested in The Binding of Isaac? It's a top-down shooter with randomly-generated dungeons, a rather fiendish difficulty level and an astoundingly large variety of random power-ups. The artwork and themes are cartoonishly gruesome, but I wouldn't classify it as a horror game since it's not really out to scare the player (unlike Amnesia, Slender, or the Silent Hill games). The installer portion should be unchanged with those copies. If you have Win Vista, 7, or 8, you could also just create a symlink using the mklink command on whatever the default install location is and just use the regular installer.

Seems as though you were right. Although now the Package ID is hidden on Steam, I managed to find the China package and I found that they said: "Cross region trading and gifting is disabled for this item". I guess that makes it non-ROW. Thanks for pointing this out, I'd hate for a trade like this to go wrong. Is there any other way I can trade these copies of CS:GO or will I have to close this thread?
