Wow, Koma and Irimi are actually alive, is this real life?
Edit: I'm literally having a hype attack, Eto and Naki are fucking alive holy shit. Outside of Eto simply having her head knocked off and being unable to regenerate due to Donato, and Naki actually being asleep this entire time, the only other way I can justify all the other ghouls being alive and replenished is Furuta mentioning: <em>"In fairy tales, it is said that the king of the 24th ward once did something similar. He divided up and shared into the world his life force itself."</em>
~~Better get prepared for the TG is becoming shonen posts again though, sadly~~
だとよ does not mean "that's it."
it's actually something much closer to "That's what he/she said!"
だと is a quotative sort of particle; you put it after something you're quoting (i.e., not your own words). it indicates that you're a bit surprised or taken aback by what you're quoting. jap-eng dictionaries list the definition as "if it's the case."
よ is an emphatic particle that functions much like an exclamation mark.
in the context of this last chapter, ishida's tweet probably means "that's what she [Rize] said!" as in, "that's what she told him!" it's meant to highlight how the chapter ends, and what rize accuses kaneki of being.
It's supposed to be vague like that, leaving the reader to speculate on what happened during that 3 years timeskip between the original and :re. Eventually the subject is touched upon in :re and it will all make sense.
That reminds me of another detail they left out, there is this page from chapter 2 of :re.
If i am not mistaken, nowhere on this website is stated that this is a TG seqel, right? Only that the author is starting a new manga series and that simultanously the final volume of TG is published. Or did I misread something. I'll look again, lol
Edit: Ok looking at this http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/daily-briefs/2014-10-03/young-jump-teases-launch-with-tokyo-ghoul-manga-creator-sui-ishida/.79497 it seems it will be TG. Best day ever
You're not the only one who had a tough time comprehending the fights, don't worry about it! The main issue is the quality of the scans in reality, sometimes the shadings and etc look blurry or change the tone of the fight entirely. Someone from the sub is uploading the HQ scans of the :re chapters on Mangadex, so see if that works out better.
As far as who's speaking to who, review the context of the speech bubbles more closely or reread the page to see if that helps.
A lot of the problems people have are due to scan quality imo. When fan translations of a new chapter drop they use scans that are low quality due to HQ scans not being available for 4 days to a week after the lower quality scans drop. By the time those drop aggregate manga sites (I won't name due to the rules of the sub) have already picked up the low-quality scan versions.
Reading the official volumes or going back and finding the HQ scans makes the manga pretty damn easy to follow and it tends to look miles better.
/u/ABARA-DYS has been uploading :Re's HQ scans on Mangadex for a little while now so you should check them out here.
its not just according to your brother, it is indeed the latin prefix for 5
EDIT: Its also a type of lamp. I dont know if that would have any significance...
TL;DR: Manga is better, the anime is rushed, route A isn't cannon, and there are lots of cuts and changes which removes important parts of the story and character development. You can read the original on mangadex here and the sequel, :re, here.
The manga is waaaaaay better. Doubt you'll find anyone here who's both read the manga and seen the anime who would recommend watching the anime over reading the manga. The anime skips a ton of important events.
Season one was alright as a gateway into the series and it's last episode was amazing. There's still stuff that was skipped and changed though so you'd still need to read the manga from the start.
Route A, season 2, is mostly anime only, or at least it tried to be but higher ups wanted it to remain closer to the manga and so it is just a mess and has a lot of important plot points which are never brought up.
Tokyo Ghoul:re, which is technically season 3, follows after route A but since it's following the manga this time it's following what actually happens after the end of the second half of the original manga so route A is non-canon. It's rushed again though and the first cours animation was sloppy. The first episode of the second cours animation seems slightly better but it's going to be the most rushed part of the anime since they are adapting 120 chapters in 12 episodes.
If you wanna read the manga, read it from the start, the whole Root A wasn't canon and they also skipped a lot of stuff from Season 1 of the original and Season 1 of :re. Read both from here: Tokyo Ghoul and Tokyo Ghoul :re :)))
The thing that makes Naki, the White Suits, and Eto's return even more so ironic is the fact that Aogiri Tree has a Phoenix emblem on their cloaks. Their fall and rebirth were probably set in stone long ago.
Right click on the pause button and click "Save Video as" This should save it as a .mp3 file. (I used chrome but it may be different on other browsers/mobile)
"When-will.net" is the only source for this, and that doesn't seem like the most reliable one for this kind of information.
According to Anime News Network, Tokyo Ghoul: Jack will be getting the anime treatment this summer.
Very much so. The anime is just a shell of it's source material. The manga is a lot better as it has a lot more content since every season is rushed, with the next half of the :Re anime being the most rushed of all since it's trying to adapt 120 chapters in 12 episodes. Don't do the mistake of reading part way through like I did originally. A lot of things are different even in the fast half of the original manga and has a fair amount the anime cut out. Because a lots been cut out though it probably won't feel like your just going through things you already know, especially during the second half of the original manga since route A only has a few things similar to it but almost entirely anime original. Here's a link to where you can read the original manga if you can't get the official volumes, though I do recommend getting them if you can. Don't use other sites to read Tokyo Ghoul or it's sequel, Tokyo Ghoul:re, as they may have missing pages or chapters.
If I’m not mistaken, I think that’s also close to the date the live action movie releases on DVD in North America.
I hope this adaptation is good! Honestly I wasn’t expecting it at the start of April.....
Edit: according to amazon, it’s right on April 3rd.
Big day for us TG fans :D
Here you go: https://mangadex.org/title/13107/tokyo-ghoul-jack
There's also an OVA of it which was good in my opinion but I don't know how well it holds up to the manga of it since I've only read the main manga series.
Kagune types weren't explained at all in the anime aside from Touka's, so that's why you don't remember.
Read this chapter of the original manga (there's no spoilers in it, takes place at a point during season 1), it's pretty much just an explanation on everything you need to know about kagune types and how they work (will likely never be explained properly in the anime due to the pacing):
https://mangadex.org/chapter/22021/2
Don't need to read anything else if you don't want to, but this particular chapter is rather helpful since the anime lacks a lot of explanations on how things work.
Actually a dumb mistake from the anime. Tsukiyama used his fingernail in the manga to cut Kaneki's skin.
Ghoul's skin are hard enough to resist puncture or being cut by normal objects but they're vulnerable to blunt force and if hit hard enough, will cause the skin rupture much like a tomato being squished. This was shown in several instances - most famously, the steel beam incident - but also shown when [mild spoiler](#s "Kaneki punched a bathroom mirror (with a tiled wall behind it) hard enough to cause damage to himself").
A lot. Books (monochrome rainbow), blood type... But especially, expressions. Take the chapter 1 of the first series (redrawn version) and the chapter 33 of :re. And compare. It's really disturbing x) (maybe it's just coincidences and Ishida's style... but he never leaves anything to chance, so... And I find funny the similarity between this scene and this one xD)
met a bunch of nice people and strangers while doing this, thank you for your support! I dont know if you enjoyed watching my stream but I definitely enjoyed talking to y'all!!
did this one in roughly 5 hours, my practice with the calendar backgrounds paid off it seems..
heres my process! and my twitch for future streaming

It gets better with each time you reread. But for original TG series, try reading Twisted Hel Scan's version, and for TG:re, check out the HQ scans uploaded to mangadex.
I'm in the process of rereading the series myself and am noticing things I've never even seen before, along with text that suddenly makes sense because these translations are more accurate and grammatically correct than some of the other groups' work (no offense to them, it's just things can get pretty hectic in TG.)
Read it from the original, Tokyo Ghoul, at chapter one. You can read it on mangadex but do try to buy the official volume if you can to help support the series. Then once you've read that you can read :re. There are some other side stories which you can read and add more development to some characters but they aren't needed to fully enjoy the series, though I do recommend either reading or watching the OVA of Tokyo Ghoul: Jack and Tokyo Ghoul: Pinto after reading the original manga. Jack is a story set in Arima's past and Pinto is a story on how Tsukiyama met and became friends with Chie Hori.
You read from a bad source, Tokyo Ghoul ends on chapter 143 + a prologue. There is no chapter 145 in the first series. I'm afraid you got spoiled. If you want to continue with Tokyo Ghoul, check out Tokyo Ghoul:re starting from here. Sorry that you got spoiled, but I hope you enjoy the ride.
Also, please don't link to aggregate sites in the future. Only link to the websites provided on the sidebar of this subreddit.
I actually started re-reading a little bit after I found this page. Right after the mission Sasaki demotes Urie from squad leader and gives it to Shirazu instead. He was so confused as to why him, but Sasaki explains: "The position of leader of the squad should be assumed by someone who can work for the sake of the team."
Edit: Wait wait wait wait, the scene you're talking about:

Why feel sad about MAL popularity? As long as the series is doing well in general, their reviews are rather irrelevant. I mean in 2017 TG as a whole was in the top 5 most sold manga in Japan. By the end of this year we'll probably be in the top 3, you never know.
Well both translations of the line are translated freely to fit the song, the original never says anything about shining but it certainly uses the word Azayaka 鮮やか which mean bright/vivid so you could certainly say "How bright I used to shine" is a bit too optimistic but if you say that the "the way I used to be" version is a bit to pessimistic.
EDIT: Actually thinking about it, looking at it from this POV is kind of useless since this is a matter of feeling and not correctness of the translation so my comment is kind of irrelevant, well whatever I already wrote it.
Not sure what this implies, but for the record the ch 120 the word that sounds like Touka but means "Transmission" is 透過 I believe, whereas the ch 72 "Transmission" is 伝導. Seems like the latter term has a stronger relation to electrical topics. No idea whether the two terms can be used interchangeably.
Exactly, it's a mixture of denial, confusion at the recent developments, and a hint or maybe cup full of salt. Agreed though, I don't think I can take tumblr seriously anymore after this mess, I'd be glad if Ishida purposely triggered them again at this rate.
https://www.tumblr.com/tagged/tokyo-ghoul
You might be able to scroll around and see some salt here and there but it mostly died down.
You can start from this: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-09-30/japan-animation-dvd-ranking-september-22-28/.79371
ANN prints sales reports from oricon. You can also look up for amazon.co.jp pre-sales reports, but it's too complicated if you don't know japanese :D
Anyway - TG sales (anime) were... okayish. Not to high to make 3rd season an unavoidable thing, not too low to cross it out
uh usually the spoiler threads here have links to tumblr translations, if not theyre at the top of the :re tag <-- is also where I go when the chapter is out and people are finding things.(+gorgeous fanart) and the weekly chapter discussion here has people finding the hidden stuff.
also dont remove the post, maybe someones out there thinking the same things, the comments would help them
I'd say go read the manga as most people will agree it's far more enjoyable than the anime as the anime doesn't do it justice. The second season is also mostly non-cannon and is just a "what if" sceanario where a lot of plot points and character development where removed or changed. Watching the anime could spoil a couple of things and so if you continue the anime and then read the manga it won't have as much suprise or feeling as you'll know what is coming because of the anime.
If you're going to read, start from chapter one because although the animes first season wasn't bad it still cut corners. You can read it on mangadex here. There are light novels also but they are just extra content and aren't necessary, though Pinto in Tokyo Ghoul Days does have a short story called "Pinto" which goes a little into the past of Tsuiyama and a character from Tokyo Ghoul: Re which can be usefull. There's also Tokyo Ghoul: Jack which was a short manga which showed some history for a character called Arima, but again it's not necessary.

http://eyepatch-centipede.tumblr.com/post/93414334518/tarot-card-symbolism-in-tokyo-ghoul-kaneki-ver
There's a lot of others however I can't be bothered to search for them do it yourself, these are just the google top hits. You're being pretty presumptuous trying to call majority of the sub reddit clueless about tarot cards.
Ishida has been using them since the original Tokyo Ghoul, there's been numerous tumblr's documenting them and most of them fit. Just because you're a persona fan doesn't mean you're an expert on Tarot cards within Japanese culture.
Season 2 isn't cannon. It was a what if story where Kaneki joined Aogiri. Re is following the manga continuity so to understand it you need to read the manga from the begining. Season 1 was ok but cut some corners, season 2 is anime only and important plot points of the the manga were cut out and some stuff was changed to fit into the alternate story idea. Start reading the original manga from the start and once you're done you can watch :re but that adaption is still rushed and cuts out a lot of stuff and the animation is horrible so I still recommend reading :re as well or reading and watching at the same time. Here's for a link to read the original manga.
copy and paste of a comment I made in another thread recently with a similar issue.
>A lot of the problems people have are due to scan quality imo. >/u/ABARA-DYS has been uploading :Re's HQ scans on Mangadex for a little while now so you should check them out here.
I think it was just to show how strong Haise is. Ishida loves symbolism, so I just took it as him being compared to a snake striking its prey.
As for continuing :re online, I would personally use Mangadex. This and one more option can be found in the sidebar of the sub, but the other option only has up to chapter 50. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series! :)
Just in reply to your last paragraph about Naga = OEG. It has been said by many characters that the naga in the 24th ward IS the original OEG that was driven down by the newly formed CCG. Which is why Matsuri mentions this:
Hey all. I've started a page in hopes to bring chapter discussions, fan art and cosplaying to my Facebook feed. I love the user discussions on this subreddit and invite you all to join the page to help build a good FB community with awesome users.
*At 50 likes I'm going to hold a contest for Sui's art book "Zakki."
*At 100 likes I'm going to hold a contest for the first volume of Tokyo Ghoul, in whatever language you prefer and is available on Amazon.
*At 200 I'll hold one for an "Anteiku Coffee Shop" tee shirt. (It's an unofficial product, but I own one and absolutely love it. https://teespring.com/001anime )
Just Like the page and follow the instructions on the top pinned post for your chance to win. Contest ends when the page reaches 50 likes!
Thanks & good luck :)
No, it really is "Bone", unless I'm hallucinating! Check out this link to the raws for :Re 1. You can see in the top panel it says "骨:1". The character 骨 means 'bone'.
I just checked on Amazon and I was able to find a listing for only $29 (not sure how reputable the seller is and what shipping would be though)
Volume 10 will be released on December 20th, here is the link to preorder it in paperback.
You can preorder it on other sites too (I've bought from B&N but I think Amazon is cheapest) but it won't actually be out till December.
I'm not op but I'm guessing he just took it from any website where you can pre-order the volume e.g. amazon - https://www.amazon.com/Tokyo-Ghoul-re-Vol-10/dp/1421598256/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1543808836&sr=8-1&keywords=tokyo+ghoul+re+volume+10+english
You can read Tokyo Ghoul here and then it's sequel, Tokyo Ghoul: Re, here once you've read the original from the start. I don't think the anime is confusing myself but it is a poor adaption of Tokyo Ghoul, especially route A/season 2 since it's mostly non-canon is so it's a good thing you're thinking of reading it anyway :D
No but you think it was too much for people to comprehend so clearly it was too deep for others and they are just too dumb to get it.
Plenty of people hate the second half of :Re, its not just a small minority. I won't say its the majority but overall especially the last arc was divisive.
Best selling manga like Naruto also was (which went to shit too)? Fanboys are going to support their shitty favourite manga no matter what happens.
Says the dude who thinks Cochlea is better than the Dragon arc. Even on this fanboy sub most would disagree, see this poll: https://www.strawpoll.me/16086408/r
A long time? The manga turned only into complete garbage ca. one year ago. Thats not much and I kept hoping Ishida would improve but I clearly expected too much from a lazy hack like him
No problem. And yeah, GIS can be a bit of a dice roll. Tumblr users are getting better (although far from perfect) about providing attribution and asking for reposting permission though, so if you're lucky that tumblr post will have a source link on it.
In this case, it's actually fastest to use http://saucenao.com/. It's worth trying on anything you even vaguely think might be from Pixiv. Works nearly all the time.
Start from chapter 1 of the original series, since season 1 skips content and √A diverged from the manga. Once you've read the original, check out the Jack and Joker, and then move on to :re. The links for these should be in the sidebar.
Link for the original: https://mangadex.org/manga/3056
Root A tried to be anime original with an idea of an alternate route to the manga but really, after rewatching it a little myself up to about the 5th episode recently, they had some things from the manga, such as the fights which happend, but the context was wrong and important plot points and characterization got skipped. An entire arc got replaced with a >!raid of Cochela by Aogiri!< which didn't really server any point for the plot. Kaneki's character devlopment also sufferd. In the 5 eps I rewatched he hardley had any screen time and the time he did have he said or did very little, especially when you compare it to the manga, so it made him just really boring.
So yeah, I would recommend reading the manga from chapter 1, since some things even in the first season were cut out which are some what important. You can read the original here.
This is for Tokyo Ghoul:re: https://mangadex.org/chapter/130628/5
But I highly suggest to read the Tokyo Ghoul manga first if you have only watched the anime: https://mangadex.org/chapter/14136/1
I think it's a little ambiguous whether it means "these aren't fake teeth, the mask has real humans' teeth on it" or "these aren't fake teeth/dentures, because it's a mask". (ireba refers to the dental type of false teeth) The possibility exists though....
I had them bookmarked somewhere, ill try to find them. 4chan archives has the link in one of recent threads I remember.
EDIT: I think this might be it: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/vfbcncu0zkmyr/ Imgur link: http://imgur.com/a/MF7ZR#0
Since Route A was a what if scenario with Kaneki joining Aogiri you should read the original manga first before watching :re since a lot was cut out and changed in route A for the anime original story and season 1 cut some corners too. This also caused a lot less character development and one of the reasons why the manga is praised is because of the way it's characters are handled.
It's highly reccomended to read from chapter one of the original so you can experince it the way it was supposed to all the way to the final chapter 143 and then the epilogue. I'd also highly reccomend reading :re too after each episode as the anime for :re is also cutting some corners too so this way you'd get a better understanding of what's happening and better character development too. Here's a link to the original and here's a link to the :re manga (some chapters of :re are missing I think, use a different source on the sidebar if you plan on reading the ones which are in the missing tab if they still haven't been added if you get to them) if you want to read that as well afterwards.
>I don't have that much interest in reading a manga.
Neither did I till reading Tokyo Ghoul but once I started it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be so I'm sure you'll get use to it eventually :)
Edit: Mentioned missing chapters of :re next to the link to the :re manga.
It's not Yoshimura who says it, it's another character. Here's a link if you can't find it after all. It's not deliberately said, it was just vague, enough to get the reader to connect the two.
Like everyone is saying, its best to start from the beginning. Read tokyo ghoul (part 1) and then tokyo ghoul:re (part 2). TG season one left out A LOT and plus, you'll be able to follow along with Ishidas brilliant foreshadowing and symbolism. And not to mention you'll be able to see his art improve over the years.
You can find both parts on mangadex.
Edit: Or if you have a preferred scanlator you like reading, you're more than welcome to check out their personal sites as well, but for the bulk of it and if you don't feel like looking around for specific translations, mangadex is great.
Enjoy the ride you're about to go on and keep us updated! :) Personally I love reading peoples reactions the first time they read the series.
Open http://postimage.org/ Then Click Browse to "C:/Users/lrizi_000/Pictures" Select uhhkankeki.png and click "Open"
In the website, select "Family Safe" and click "Upload It!" and copy past the link THAT website gives.
I don't believe Hulu has the censored version, and they do have the dub. You'll have to verify that for yourself.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it as much as I do :)
Actually this is the authentic statue, which sold MSRP for $109. I was lucky enough to get it for $121 on ebay. As for the cards, I also purchased those from a japanese seller on ebay.
The Red Tokyo Ghoul Trump Cards were given to anyone who attended Japans Jump Festa, whereas there were only 10,000 Black Tokyo Ghoul Trump cards produced, and were given out to lucky winners who proved they had Volumes 1 and 2 of Tokyo Ghoul. I purchased the red deck for $40 and the black deck for $180. The artwork on them is absolutely beautiful.
As for the volumes, I paid $53 for Volumes 1-7. Unfortunately now it is double the price. I would recommend to always keep an eye out for new merchandise, and buy them on the spot. These things are limited and will always just keep going up in price. The other volumes, I paid the $12.99 in person from the book store; including the novel. I see that the TG: Days novel is selling half off on amazon; great deal if you're interested.
You can get it on amazon for about 103 + tax. It does goes on sale pretty often though!
Right well I've been told that "Keys to Drawing" by Bert Dodson is a really good start, since it teaches you how to stop symbol drawing (basically how to draw the actual object instead of what your brain thinks the object is), then you got Loomis/Hampton/Proko which are pretty popular as well for composition/anatomy/etc studies. This website is really good too.
Yeah I think you could get it on Amazon. The one in the link is in french, I don't know if there is any other version bur I would think that it's not a big deal if there's not much writing. I ordered one, if you want I could tell you then if the translate is really important.
No I don't because legal matters like those aren't shown to the public however that is how anime adaptations for manga usually work. The studio buys all the rights from the publisher which serializes the manga after which they make an anime/film adaptation, sell BD/DVD and merchandize i.e Video games, toys, posters etc to make profit. The OVA for Jack and the "future plans" is a sign that Pierrot has no intentions of handing over the rights.
How awkward. I only really use spoiler tags (and I know I don't exactly flag them as such ^([because I'm lazy]) ) because this thread initially didn't have ":Re Spoilers" flairs at the title so I was trying to be courteous. My sincerest apologies.
Have you ever tried f.lux as a means to save your eyes from monitor-related eyestrain?
It isn't really supposed to be there if he already translated it as "How bright I use to shine", both the "As vivid as can be" and "How bright I used to shine" are translated a bit freely translated from the same "Azayakana mama", Azayaka 鮮やか meaning bright/vivid. If he added a "As vivid as can be" to it he would be adding it even though it's not there.
Hm I would get it from there but here are some of the reviews... multiple people saying they never got the books that they ordered, I don’t know if I wanna pay 120$ to maybe not even get it
here’s basically the same hoodie but not from a sketchy ass site for anyone who wants it, i got it as a christmas gift this year and i can confirm the quality
Yes it's good, though the second half of :re isn't as good. There are links on the sidebar to trusted sites (other sites tend to miss pages or chapters and are sometimes in the wrong order). I recommend mangadex myself. Here's a link to it. Read from chapter one since the anime makes changes and cuts a lot out.
Read it on mangadex or one of the other sites on the side bar. A lot of other sites aren't as good because they have bugs like putting chapters of :re into the original manga and missing pages and sometimes even whole chapters. Read from the start of the original and then go to :re. Here's a link to the original.
You know what? I’m actually gonna concede. I already acknowledged his hair was covered in blood between Chapters 53 - 57, but I was operating under the belief that after Ui told him to clean the blood from all over his head, he had already done so by the time he met up with his squad since his face was clean when he talked to Urie, but his hair was still dark, which lead me to believe it was actually black with blood mixed in there during the fight. Upon taking a closer look at the conversation with Urie during Chapter 57, there are still clear, visible drops of blood dripping from the places where his white tips used to be, meaning it was still sopped with blood. Even so, I can’t agree with the usage of the term, “blood-stained.” Blood doesn’t stain or dye hair, as it can simply be washed off if it’s on there. “Blood-soaked” is more appropriate.
What are you? My 8th grade teacher? Wikipedia is extremerely reliable in most cases. You seemed to have missed my edit, so I'll provide the link for you as well. "Animenewsnetwork", now that's an unreliable source.

Marvelous AQL is a production company, that is also under the employ of Shueisha. I fail to see the point you're trying to make.
>They do not produce anime, they publish it and do make some related goods. So maybe it's you who should get your shit right first?
They are a production company. That is their definition. If you don't want to accept that, go ahead.
"We manage a full spectrum of rights for most of our brands including broadcasting, licensing, production, internet, and home video sales and distribution."
>I'm most relaxed here, bro. My initial comment and thought was about the fact that you can't have "my opinion" and "definite" at the same time.
Fucks sake man. You failed to read further down where I explicitly acknowledged what I should have done. I then linked you to it, and you ignored it. Please, just take a second to read before you hit the reply button.
It is far too early and I've had far too little coffee for this shit.
So I like to use this online Japanese dictionary for stuff I'm not sure about. I typed in the kanji, and there was no definition for it to mean "red," but another way to say it is あか or "aka," which can be translated to mean red. Basically, the kanji 赫 and red can both be pronounced as "aka." Maybe this is where it comes from?
<em>Hina also has a good sense of smell</em>. Moreover, she knew Eto was a ghoul (she refers to Eto as "Takatsuki" in a flashback; and at a moment in the chapter 109 of the original series, <em>she made a weird face after Takatsuki put her finger under her nose</em>).
Yup, though there's an epilogue as well.
Link to final chapter with better translations and epilogue (worth reading the whole chapter again as the translationsyou would have read may have some mistakes) https://mangadex.org/chapter/51115/1
After that, read Tokyo Ghoul Jack and Tokyo Ghoul Joker (optional, but recommended), and if possible the third chapter of the Tokyo Ghoul Days novel (there's an OVA episode based on it, Tokyo Ghoul Pinto, that you can watch instead if you don't want to read the novel chapter).
Once you're done with that stuff, you can start reading Tokyo Ghoul:re.

I paid $20.99 for it on amazon, it's a great quality mask but it might not fit everyone sadly, check the link here: DA-HAPPY-DA M-L-Foreve Tokyo... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GH3BWTB?ref=yo_pop_ma_share
I got all of my keychains at books a million, but heres a link to their listing on Amazon
Although your name sounds like an oxymoron, your advice sounds good.
Is this the best way to buy?
Are you looking for the box sets? There are only 2, one for part 1 and one for :re. Each series was divided into 2 seasons (or in the case of :re, two parts) so looking for the sets based on their season might be your problem.
This is the amazon link for the first series:
https://www.amazon.ca/Tokyo-Ghoul-Complete-Box-Set/dp/1974703185
This is the amazon link for the :re box set (though it doesn't come out until the 20th):
https://www.amazon.ca/Tokyo-Ghoul-Complete-vols-premium/dp/1974718476
Those are the canadian links so if you live in a different part of the world the prices will be different but this should give you a better idea of what you're looking for. The two box sets make up the entirety of the main series.
Yes Amazon sells them actually at a decent price.

Here is the listing for it on Amazon's site. Comes straight from their warehouses not a third party which is great.
Tokyo Ghoul: RE boxset is out for preorder now! Its on sale on amazon for $152
Tokyo Ghoul: RE Complete Box Set

Also Tokyo Ghoul Box Set is on sale as well on amazon sitting at $94
Sorry for the late reply, here it is: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01GCUO0M0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_fGLDsY7hEJImL
Edit: I saw another seller that had the same picture for cheaper, so you might be able to save some money. But this is the one I purchased and its a decent mask.
I buy mine from Kinokuniya bookstore. You can get them from amazon, jetpens, ebay..pretty much everywhere. Not sure if the artist uses the same but it's at least similar, I think.
https://www.amazon.com/Sakura-50025-Pigma-Professional-2-Pack/dp/B00THY7BGQ
I think this is similar to the one that rokbound uses: https://www.amazon.com/Pentel-Color-Brush-Black-GFLBP101/dp/B002PIFTRE
Here it is the page I ordered it from, it's in Japanese, though. Wish I ordered the french one so I could actually read it :(
This is the best one you can get for cheap.
If you want to go for a bit higher quality
Is that only the CE edition? Can I still get the dvd/bluray from amazon? This one to be exact http://www.amazon.com/Tokyo-Ghoul-Complete-Season-Blu-ray/dp/B0102AL8V2/ref=tmm_blu_title_1?_encoding=UTF8&amp;qid=&amp;sr=
Yeah like @wilalva11 said it took about a month but it's worth it. I ordered mine on June 22 and got it today on July 24. Link for the book
