Sorry for dailymotion.. what an awful site.
I'm working on a method of generating lipsync animation using Gentle. The requirements are: you need audio (obviously), a transcript (that you type up) and the site generates a JSON. I made a script that converts this file into something VaM can use which will animate the lips.
There's plenty of room for improvement and I'm sure /u/meshedvr has ideas on how to do this for reals. Anyway this is a proof of concept.
A website where you could search for scenes manually and browse through categories would be an amazing addition to VaM and I think if people jump on the train it could definitively give more motivation to creators. Personnaly i'd see something more like a mini nexusmods.com than loverslab but that's just me.
Having a forum that comes with it would be cool too but then the r/VaMscenes and r/VirtAMate subs would kind of become redundant, so if this happens we gotta make sure the word gets around so the community and content isn't divided in 4 different places. Anyway, you can definitely count me in :)
It's sad to see someone leave because of their experience with a bad community. I would say if you're seriously trying to get help; join the Discord channel and post in the Help section, someone that can help will help you. I personally don't like the reddit community either for the same reason. I hope this gets to you.
I'm going to add atom naming very soon - I was having issues with large scenes as well. Impossible to remember what does what. https://trello.com/c/o2neqGYo Most likely UIDs as-is will remain to ensure uniqueness, but then you can give them a more description display name that will appear in the selection boxes.
Sorry haven't had time to check out this scene, but it looks pretty amazing! Thank you for pushing the edge!
Yeah this is an ongoing battle. I changed the eyelash and eye tear shaders in 1.6 in response to backlighting issue reported by another user. But in general the transparency shaders are a bit messed up. They are not sorting against other true transparent objects correctly. This can be seen by taking object like "Glass" and putting behind hair or eyelashes. It does not look right.
I'll be working to completely resolve this in 1.7 if I can. It is quite tricky to get all transparency + proper shadowing working.
There is supposed to be Atom UID renaming in 1.9, according to Trello. Is it actually there? If yes, how does it work? Couldn't figure it out.
I am not sure if this is a bug or not but I believe it has to do something with Tweaked female groin area colliders
"https://trello.com/c/G8IsH95B/637-tweaked-female-groin-area-colliders"
In 1.7, I have noticed something changed that I really liked in the previous versions. IN 1.7, when an male penis is inserted into the vagina, I see the genitalia area getting clipped and make it less immersive than before. Also, When bigger penis was inserted into the vagina, I loved the several resistance force effect during the insertion even after the insertion was half way in which make it so real. but now these effect has been gone or much reduced. Here is download link to my old animated scene that shows the effect.
https://mega.nz/#!Z6BlnRzQ!i4ZQfOQzVwGxTJlRZqi-dVsMYxJfgzBgGGbL-Zh5m1I
Please play the scene in 1.62 then play in 1.7 and compare. You can observe what I am taking about. I am really hoping you could keep the same effect as it was in v1.62? Thank you
Thanks!! Took hours to set up correctly :) I felt the same when watching it, after recording too.. pretty cool effect.
To improve on this, here's what I think could happen...
For starters: - a better way to hold vive controllers to feet
In the future: - 3 Vive trackers would be a dream here (feet and pelvis) (releases Dec 12th) - Find a friend(s) and record dancing
while not related to mo cap... I submitted a trello card suggesting to /u/meshedvr that some kind of ai based movement be explored, videos are interesting to watch, because using an ai for movements would help make movement more natural than keyframe animation.
Cheers!
You might also find this program handy. It allows you to make a window semi-transparent and always on top. When using desktop mode, you can use it to superimpose your reference image on the VaM model to let you better shape the model to match the picture.
Quick reply on the difference between maps:
Diffuse map - this one is your color information map, pretty straight forward
Specular map - this one tells the engine how reflective or shiny is an object at a given point, it should be black and white only being black, no light reflects at all and pure white maximum light reflection. In some instances you can have color in this map to change the color of the reflected light, in those cases it acts as a metallicity map as certain metals can change the color of the light when they bounce off them.

normal map - this one is a detail map, it tell the engine how bumpy a surface is without actually changing the 3D surface itself (the topology remains the same). So, it tell the light where it should cast shadows or put highlights giving the impression of 3d deatail, but if you look at an angle you'll see that the surface is still flat or smooth.
Gloss map - this one might look similar to the specular, the difference is that this one only changes how smooth or rough is the light reflected, and doesnt chage the amount of light reflected. White means really smoth, like glass or something very polished and black means very rough and diffuse, like dirt or wall paint sor something

This is a veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery simplified explanation, search in youtube for PBR materials tutorial, the Allegorithmic team has a really good in depth tutorial on their website
Thx for the tutorial.

I tried to follow itand create my first piece of clothing.
But I understood with my mistakes a number of things that you don't explain, so I add them here, if you don't mind.

- First you have to export a Gen2 model from Daz to MD. Otherwise you spend hours modelling a clothe that will not apply to the daz model.

- To export a model from DAZ, it is mandatory to change the layout of DS because on the default layout (avatar builder) the "export" option is not available.
(windows -> workspace -> layout)

- In MD, if you have problems adjusting the clothes between the legs (the buttocks of the gen2 daz model are too tied), then you have to go into the settings and accept the interactions on the faces and not just on the vertices.

- In MD, do not try to create several materials, as obviously only the "general" material is included in the unvwrap in VAM.

I will add things if other ideas come to mind with my essays.

Even better:
Your person atoms are parented to objects, so this bug that's just been ~~fixed~~ "lessened" for 1.10 does apply to your scenes.
Sadly I have to report there are still issues with triggers. Its the same repro scene from last time. While the original issue does appear to be fixed, I noticed some new things:
>ResetAnimation: https://trello.com/c/jDOcl2J4
Turns out the workaround for the ResetAnimation issue doesn't work after all. Details and a repro case in the Trello card.
Scene loading long time is due to asset bundles needing to be decompressed 1st time you open them. After that, it is fast. I'm going to look into using uncompressed bundles for 1.8 as it will also solve issue of user AppData filling up people's SSD drives.
Desktop save issue: https://trello.com/c/8nz6uknF
Not sure what you mean with the triggers bug. Can you clarify?
With the 1.6 version on VAM, Meshed added a opt-in for all web content (aidio, images, browser) for safety reasons. Might be, that OP has this not enabled in the user prefs.
https://trello.com/c/7DU516jn/222-add-global-option-to-enable-disable-browsers. Think now we have to mention this in the scene posts.
Edit: Nice animation btw :-)
This is actually intentional for 1st implementation. It acts like a overlay UI. I plan on adding more button types, including ones that will react if you just move your controller through them. https://trello.com/c/iNgspED5
I'll probably also add non-overlay UI button that renders like regular geometry, which is what you are asking for here.
Internally in memory, the path should be stored as relative to VaM install dir. It is a bug that it is displaying full path. But when you actually save the scene, that is when it tries to chop the path to see if it can match up with the scene save path. This has to happen at save because VaM does not know where you are going to save to. So it is supposed to store VaM install-relative path in memory. I'll see if I can fix it from showing full path. It is only supposed to do that if you choose scene file outside of the VaM install area.
You can test this now and you should see that the saved json file does actually just reference the other scene by its name with no directory (assuming it is in same folder).
The "test" button is kind of a safety thing. I don't want you to accidentally click it and lose your changes to current scene. Perhaps I can just prompt you to ask if you want to save current scene before changing scenes. It will always ask this even if you didn't really change anything because VaM saves physics based stuff, and those move a little even if you don't do anything.
2 issues:
The wrap issue I have fixed with a texture clamp setting (it was set to repeat by default). When I add tiling support I'll have to auto-switch from clamp to repeat. This will make 1.6.1 patch.
The halo around the image. This is due to using a cutout shader instead of true transparent shader. I'll see if I can sneak in this item to 1.6.1 as well: https://trello.com/c/dSVDGJJi
No, currently you cannot import ojects and materials. However Meshed created a trello card for this under "Research", so maybe it will be added at a later point. https://trello.com/c/hRGddvv6/83-in-game-import-of-assets-textures-morphs-etc
Please ask VaM sofware related questions in the VirtAMate subreddit and lets keep this "Getting started" thread short and as resource for information.
Notes on the bugs reported:
Thanks! I'm trying to push the limit, and see what's possible.. I appreciate the encouragement! VaM is so powerful a platform! You are totally right about the walking. A while back I submitted this, it has some interesting videos.. but in essence is enabling the characters to walk naturally. * https://trello.com/c/g9p4CCXn If we could change the recorded motion capture like /u/d3034 says, I could have made this scene beyond spectacular... because I could have then gone back and polished every single little rough spot. The chagellenge was doing the whole thing in one take. Towards the end however, I would select the hand nodes and re record the last 45-50 seconds... that's how I got the hug to be slightly more legit.. and the last hand touch.. but it was still a one take deal. If we could tweak it like the animation pattern, it would be perfect.
i just took my time and tweaked each part the best i could, maybe start with the head morphs cause if u use these after your nose/eye/mouth morphs it'll change the look completely. to get started i'd say just get each feature close to what u want and then return to tweak things later (after saving) as u could make the nose perfect but still not recognize her until the eyes or mouth are more similar, i loaded the reference image up on my phone and peaked down the nose gap at it on my hmd, once this is in it should all get a little easier though https://trello.com/c/TIoGGALC/63-image-panel
Should these be saved under appearance or full? Thanks
You have many good points above, and should consider submitting them on trello for and review / possible future updates.
Do you know that you can actually request specific feature you need in this Virt-A-Mate development board? https://trello.com/b/LDlEpfvk/virt-a-mate-public-plans (In Email Requests list look at the top most task "HOWTO email requests...")
>any way to change the expressions it uses? like route them to a different morph? like instead of the ones you have set route it to like an expression that we have, id like to route it to some aheago expressions i got if thats possible
You can use your own Morphs if you do the following
I have defined the morph to be used in the Config file.
You can specify which morph to use in either the Config in the Var file or the Config created in Custom/Scripts.
In the Var file:
Custom/Scripts/cotyounoyume/ExpressionBlushingAndTears/Config/defaultSettings.json
Or, VaM folder:
Custom/Scripts/ExpressionBlushingAndTears_currentSettings.jsonCustom/Scripts/ExpressionBlushingAndTears_currentSettings.json

I have defined the morphs we want to use in this file.
MorphsForOrgasm is the Morph to be used for Orgasm, and MorphsForEmotions is the Morph to be used for sexual stimulation.
However, you can only specify one Morph at a time, you cannot combine multiple Morphs with varying weights.
You may use a single, complete morph created using a morph such as MorphMerger.cs.

I'm just gonna leave [this](https://thepiratebay.org/torrent/27981374/50_skin_texture_sets_for_Virt-a-Mate) right here...
Try the VaM help discord channel. Someone might be able to help you there.
https://discord.com/channels/363274293112602636/473573078241247246
Also specify what software you are exporting and importing to. Good luck!
I release everything under CC-BY-NC-SA. I'm alright with using/reusing/redistributing my stuff as long as I receive explicit credit for my work. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/
Although people taking 'pieces' from my assets pack and putting them in their folders pissed me off a bit, not because it violates above license, but because the whole idea was to download and install my assets pack which then will be reused by the scene creators (without need of downloading duplicate files etc)... I guess people didn't exactly understood this idea... but again it's like that because VaM still lacks some very needed file management/asset management fuctions so there is no real reason to be mad ;)
Use Git!
Make changes, git add all
, do that a few times and when done, commit
your stuff. Nothing better than source control to control your sources.
Using the Virtual Desktop, you can also make a shortcut so you don't have to type while in VR.
Everyone might not be able to cough up the $80 for that. I usually take the face texture from the female base skin (or a good photo), adjust the colors to match the facegen texture, then use an opacity mask to put it on top of the facegen watermark. You can do this in Gimp (which is free), described here: https://www.gimp.org/tutorials/Layer_Masks/
is it also okay to download vam and easymate and install it to the external hard disk drive and it will work? I have atm no space at my C
I just added your site to the WIKI:
https://www.reddit.com/r/VirtAMate/wiki/guides/useful_links
However, https does not yet properly work, please update your certificate with
https://letsencrypt.org/getting-started/ (it is free of charge).
Reddit and Discord are really the only options right now FWIW
Vrporn has a few, but the fact that you have to have an account to download puts some people off.
I've often wondered if nexusmods.com would even take VAM as a game, a quick look at the adult mods of Skyrim says that they aren't too squeemish about sex. But a game where the primary purpose is sex? I dunno.

Download Throttlestop to turn off your processor's turbo clock and MSI Afterburner to starve your gpu of power to keep heat and throttling down.
I already updated the old reddit posts. I'll probably update the links on discord, too. And will remove the old mega zip links and the zips on gumroad when no problems with the "shared folder on mega" solution occur. I set up a donation page here https://www.buymeacoffee.com/kemenate which seemed like to most suitable alternative to gumroad (too much work), patreon (neeehhh) or ko-fi (no nsfw, not even links from nsfw allowed)...
Aside from your approach regarding movement, I am really looking forward to model generation, when I see something like https://thispersondoesnotexist.com/
My dream: Just fire up a generator and get a "real looking" model.
>he first part to familiarize yourself with unity then it will be more simple from there but sadly i don't know of a guide for specifically this process but in summary
>
>you make a model using DAZ studio make it how you like it then
Thanks, I did not now makehuman before. Good tip!

As I said above, if vam reaches a fairly large number of users there is a chance that meshed will sell to a big company.
There will then be practically only paid content.
A cryto would allow you to remain more independent, with a balance between paid and free content.

But as can be seen from the comments, volatility and numerous scams make crptos unpopular.
Bearing in mind I am sure that in the future there will be a crypto last many start-ups.

Thank you for the answer. When I go to shadow.tech it only tells me that the service will be available in December...
Do you pay 15 euro per month? Are there any restriction regarding the software you use? You just upload all the software and then run it?
You are the perfect case for a cloud solution. See shadow.tech. It allows my 8 year old desktop (which only has integrated graphic) to run like a high end gaming pc. Been running VaM and SteamVR apps with it.
If you want to love it even more, I recommend Easy Mate III. His tutorials are watchable while in a vr vam scene. And it has tons of new content that's great for beginners where they can jump in right away. I love vam because of what you can do with it. At first I got great excitement from vam, (fap) but now, I mainly download everything I can and have fun making it work and adding to the scenes from the community content (assest). I also enjoy adding & swapping looks into the scenes. I've been a daily user since December. Although I subscribe as a creator, I just consider myself a super user. As a long time vr enthusiast, I searched for vr adult software and discovered vam. I accesses it through my Oculus Quest with Virtual Desktop (like having a wireless Rift S). My pc is the Shadow cloud PC from Shadow.tech which is owned by Blade.
This looks awesome, an ingame community Library.
For the Mega limit thing, you guys can try the "MegaBasterd" from github. It seems to bypass the whole limit thing and downloads anything I put into it. Sometimes it get's slow or freezes, normal bugs, so relaunching it seems to work.
There is no VaM documention to speak off. However, in general I recommend to use ILSpy to look at VaM_Data\Managed\Assembly-CSharp.dll. It allows you to look at VaM's codebase. You should take a look at MVRScript, Atom, SuperController, JSONStorable, JSONStorableFloat, etc. https://github.com/icsharpcode/ILSpy/releases/latest
Yes, you can read the state of a trigger. What exactly do you want to do?
For exploring the possibilities I recommend to use ILSpy to look into the DLL. Get the binary package of ILSpy here and use it to open VaM_Data\Managed\Assembly-CSharp.dll in the VaM install directory. All the interesting stuff is in the global namespace { }. In this particular case you will want to look at these classes:

Wordpad might do it, but Notepad++ is much better. You can remove empty lines, lines with just comments or you can combine multiple lines of code into one - as long as each code line remains separated by a semi-colon. Just be careful not to turn code into comments, its much clearer in Notepad++ as it formats the code and comments are marked in green.
During creating the list of the sources (http://collabedit.com/69x3v) I noticed that this is just a screenshot dump from the #screenshots channel in the Virt-A-Mate discord. Where the authors never publish their work. So in the end even you didn't see any of this in real time. Sad to realize this. Don't get the point of putting in so much effort in creating content and not publishing it at all, not even for money. Really sad situation in this community. Maybe VaM needs a share button and a sane file format for this to be possible.
> It's asking me to Uninstall macfee and surf shark.
You should definitely do that first one. Garbage.
The built in Windows Defender is MORE than adequate as Antivirus and has been top rated for over a decade. If you want to cover every base, add Malwarebytes and CCleaner to the mix, but the one you mentioned are gaaaaaarrbage. It's cat vomit.
SurfShark isn't exactly bad, but it's expensive for what it is.
> Surfshark VPN provides a robust and growing product that includes much more than just VPN protection, but at a hefty price compared to the competition.
> Surfshark VPN's subscription costs $12.95 per month compared to an average price of $9.96 per month among the services we've tested. This pricing puts Surfshark among the most expensive VPNs we've yet reviewed, far beyond the $5.54 per month asked for by Mullvad or the $4.99 per month for Mozilla's VPN.
I mean, if you're going to have a VPN, you might as well go whole hog and get a ProtonMail account (encrypted email based in Switzerland) for $5/mo and then use ProtonVPN for free...
Anywaym, the Creator ($8) package has everything. Figure you can afford it based off the annual fee you're not going to pay McAfee or SurfShark
As for the need of a third arm- that is the case with something like a fleshlight (which is 25 cm long) where the unit is attached at the front. However, a smaller toy like a quickshot or a standard Onahole should work fine as long as the connections to the arms have a little friction. A fleshlight needs the overhead stabilizer (sky hook!) like you see in TempestVR's design.
I was just thinking maybe just a one arm could work with something like this attached https://www.amazon.com/Ajax-Scientific-Extension-Overall-Length/dp/B00EPQ3R3W/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=ajax+scientific+clamp&qid=1566249506&s=gateway&sr=8-5 to it. Clamp it to the underneath of a table or desk maybe? I suppose this could be linear actuated but a direct drive might work as well depending on a persons flexibility.
The actual units are the same.
The difference is that the VR version comes with a mount to attach the thing to your headset and a 15' usb cable. Some people seem to do all right rigging their own mounts with double sided tape or velcro. And maybe you already have a cable long enough to go from your headset to the computer.
So if money's tight you could skip the VR version. I got it for convenience sake.
I also got one of these so i can plug the thing right into the USB port on the Vive headset, rather than running another cable back to the computer. Without the 90 degree usb plug adapter, the Vive cover wont fit on when something is plugged into it.
I haven't put any of this to the test yet.
