[Ultima] Smoked Lens Dynamic Sequential Blink LED Side Mirror Turn Signal Light Strip Assembly For 2015+ Volkswagen Golf GTI MK7 R VII https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SRD8BL4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_yxooDbYG0F66H
Here are the ones I got. Not hard to install at all! But be careful when trying to take your mirror cover off, cause I chipped my passenger mirror. Nothing too noticeable, but it's noticeable to me.
Here is the video that helped me remove the cover. Other than the cover, it's two t10 screws and a little bit of elbow grease to get the lights out. The package came with a t10 screwdriver and a bone tool, which helped out a ton! It took me about an hour to install both.
Very nice. I just got a Golf Alltrack SEL in Silk Blue Metallic (automatic) and have been mostly very happy so far. Everything just works as you think it would, the quality is rock solid, and the equipment level is astounding for the price you pay.
I had a rattle from the back that was pretty annoying: It turned out to be the rear cargo cover, so I took it out.
One small piece of advice: If you plan to use Android Auto ~~or Apple CarPlay~~, you'll need a good high quality USB cable. I use this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07213D35X [update: I forgot iPhones use a proprietary connection; this will only work for Android phones.]
Oh, and if you're in the U.S., I'm not sure if you know, but 2019 is the last model year for the 72 months/60,000 mile warranty. With 2020 models it is dropping to 48 months/50,000 miles (but including two years of free, factory-covered maintenance). I work from home and only drive 8,000 miles a year, so the old warranty is perfect for me.
For VW specifically you can get a set on Amazon.
Or just a big spline socket and a hammer.
Wheel locks are just there to make it more difficult than the car next to yours, but they're far from impenetrable. If someone wants your wheels there isn't a whole lot you can do other than parking it somewhere they can't get to.
They are called "Spec-D Tuning LHP-JET99-8-TM R8 Style Halo LED Projector Headlight" and were about $180 and on sale when I got them, now they are like $200 but you can find these headlights on a bunch sites like Walmart or Amazon and yes I did install myself, was very easy. Just unlatched the hood release, removed grill and bumper, switched out the headlights and put it all back together.
Just before someone calls me reckless for being out in this, there are literally no other cars on the road that I saw in the entire drive. I was completely alone except a couple of snow plows and cops just camped out in case someone calls in an accident.
Once you're north of Concord, NH population density shrinks so much that you might see another vehicle every mile or two even when there's not a storm.
This means that there aren't that many accidents and not much to hit should you spin out. I've done 360s in my Toyota Corolla and every time you do a visual inspection of the car, get back in and go back to driving.
I live just south of the west orange part - http://wikitravel.org/upload/shared//thumb/f/fb/Map_of_New_Hampshire_Regions.png/275px-Map_of_New_Hampshire_Regions.png
Less than 10% of the stat's population lives north of the green part so our density is incredibly low. Almost everyone lives on the Mass border. If someone slides out down in Manchester, there'll be a pile-up. Also this means that during storms, we are last to get plowed or at least plowed less frequently which does suck.
I'm willing to put money on that being some form of afro-engineered backyard mechanics work.
I haven't had it dynoed but I would definitely say I've gained 50+ HP. IT IS a different car! Just had to put it back in stock mode for inspection and have to say while respectable, thing was boring. That said, this does not come at no cost. I've got the APR Carbino intake, Stage 1 tune ($500) the went to stage 2 downpipe (can't remember $1200 installed?) then added the AWE tuning CAT back (another $1100). But she sounds good and FLY'S. Oh and make sure if you do this wait for APR's annual Spring sale and make sure you get program switching to pass inspection. Good Luck with convincing your wife! Here's the difference between stock CAT back and AWE. Wait for it... https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=11ED03B7C8D022BD&id=11ed03b7c8d022bd%213570&v=3
I am guessing Saskatoon
I did not buy a kit, I work in the parts dept of my shop. But I can point you in the right direction. The kit that ecs has is almost all oem parts except the wiring harness and switch. My friend got the wiring harness for his car from ecs and it worked great. https://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-Jetta_VI-Sedan-2.0/Lighting/Fog_Lights/Kit/ES2500919/ You will save money by buying this because the switch from the dealer is over $100, I am thinking of taking the one I got from the dealer out to get an aftermaket switch like the one in this kit just because the dealer switch cannot turn only the fog lights on.
I also got yellow bulbs off amazon http://www.amazon.com/Nokya-Arctic-Yellow-Headlight-Stage/dp/B0013JG0FQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1443884007&sr=8-3&keywords=9006+yellow+nokya
Amazon But search around. Some are better quality than others. Idk about this, I just searched for an example to show you. Mine came w/all 3 colors like the image shows, but for some reason they weren’t “connected”. I had to place each color stripe one at a time.
edit: btw, check out my past posts, I have other photos showing it better
It doesn't have to be anything related to your car.
The cam you mentioned uses a mini usb cord. So any dash cam hardwire kit that uses a mini usb would work.
Keyword would be: "MINI USB hardwire kit"
Spytec, who sells your camera has them on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Spy-Tec-Mini-Hardwire-A119S/dp/B01N686R48?th=1
Just make sure they come with a fuse adapter, like the one linked above. Installing a hardwire kit is easy, there really is no hardwiring. All you're doing is plugging a fuse into your fuse box (in the cigarette adapter fuse) and running the cable out
>Rcd330
Amazon has them for $259 free shipping https://www.amazon.com/Amzparts-RCD330-RCD330G-CarPlay-6RD035187B/dp/B07BSP6Y24?th=1
A lot of old air cooled VWs die this way. I keep a fire extinguisher in mine and will soon be installing an automatic system:
BlazeCut “T” Series System 2 Meter T200E https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088HFRT5D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_nR7xFbEAE1RJM
Same engine! ... Well, look forward to reliability! Compared to some other VW engines the 2.5 is extremely reliable.
I actually just got mine tuned to stage1 through a local shop. They used the IE tune. It was good before, but is more more responsive and feels more powerful now!
Good luck these days and I wish you many miles!
Edit: Also got Carplay for $299 by getting the RCD330 from Amazon. If you don't already know, it is a carplay radio for VW cars like ours. I'm pretty sure its made for, "from the factory" carplay in other parts of the world. 4 screws removes the old radio and one plug then you have the new one in. Very easy if you ever wanted to upgrade. Also has a version with android auto. Just thought I'd share a bit more :)
Sorry I forgot to respond. What worked well far me was the following:
BAFX Bluetooth OBD Scan Tool - $23.99 (I've seen them price it as low as $19.99 though depending on the day, may be worth watching the amazon page for a couple days)
Carista Android app - free download but it costs $20 to unlock the feature that actually lets you apply new settings.
I can vouch for this combination as I was able to successfully use it to configure options (such as windows and fog lights) in my CC. No problems. The only catch is that they claim the BAFX tool only works with Android. I have an Android phone so it's not an issue for me. If you have an iPhone you may have to look for a different tool. Carista actually sells one on Amazon but it's pricier ($40 last time I checked).
This won't get you the full array of features of a real VAG-COM but it's also $200 cheaper.
I just saw a video that was posted on /r/ps4 and one of the devs said "pick from your friends list or someone of matched skill somewhere in the world" so... hope it works out!
Edit: link from /r/ps4 -- http://www.gamespot.com/videos/pushing-the-ps4s-capabilities-with-driveclub/2300-6421631/
Yep, if your phone doesn’t have a magnetic back already you can slip a thin metal plate in the case and it holds really well, but it’s still extremely easy to take off and put on your phone.
This is similar to what I used in my mk4.
Great to hear about the strut bearings being done and possibly the rod bearings too.
The popup spoiler that stops working is usually due to all the dirt and grime that can get in the two posts making it sticky forcing the motor to work harder and burning out the brushes. Just keep it clean and it will be fine.
A tip for the spoiler too if you haven't discovered it yet on the inside of the hatch, there is a cover you can remove to access the spoiler assembly with a "bowtie" looking knob handle. If you pull it out you will disengage it from the motor allowing you to manually raise and lower the spoiler. This way you can do a quick check to see if there is nothing binding and nothing making it stick. Pushing it back in will engage it with the motor when it hits 45mph and it raises and lowers.
> How are they going to convince people to get the recall done?
CARB is talking about not allowing these cars' registration to be renewed until they are updated to meet the standards. That would probably do it.
I upgraded my 05' Jetta 2.5 Sel to the 12' GLI Autobahn and I love it! I see Jetta's all the time on the road and I feel slightly more special because I'm riding GLI and I love the interior so much more plus the turbo makes me feel like a fast car. I fell in love with VW with my last car and from when I worked at a carwash as a teenager and I'm sure I'll drive them for always. :D

I tapped the fuse for the headlight adjustment motors, that way they come on with the headlight switch.
That 'on rails' statement is Speed Secret #22 from Ross Bentley's excellent book. I believe it's a paraphrase of the classic Mario Andretti quote:
“If everything seems under control, you're not going fast enough.”

Here they are on my R: http://imgur.com/Ua20Uqx
Blizzaks are great, but just decide whether you want performance snow tires versus normal snow tires. One allows you to retain a bit more feel of the car. I wanted to get Michelin Alpine PA4s, but no one had them in stock. I went with Pirelli Sottozero 3s which are rated almost as well.
I bought 'performance' snow tires, because they are supposed to retain a stiffer feel to them so you don't get that spongy feel when you turn. Blizaks come in performance and non-performance versions. The difference lies in what they specialize in. Performance snow tires do better on dry/wet (water) pavement in colder temperatures. Regular snow tires do better on snow/ice (cold temps are implied here).
I rarely find myself driving in snow because they just salt the roads and it turns to slush and water. The stop times on wet roads is what concerned me the most for this reason, and performance snow tires are better in that realm. Plus I wanted it still feel like I was driving a sports car.
I don't agree at all that the Amazon ones aren't as bright. I have these in my 13 Passat TDI. Super bright, makes it look much nicer. And you can see them so much better in the daylight.
That's my car in the review picture with these lights. It's 2 years later they still work great.
So my state requires me to have it on as well which is pain; dealer never drilled holes which I'm fine with so I went right on amazon and found a $30 one. It's knock off and it works...but honestly I wish I spent the money on either the platypus plates or the one from US Milworks is really really good.
I went the cheap route and it's not the best but it does it's job
Tirechains.com looks out of stock. These Thule on Amazon are the same design.
Avoid cables and crossbar style chains if driving any distance, they ride much worst. They're a great value to get out of an unplowed driveway or parking lot, but I wouldn't use them across town or to get over a pass.
Ordered this stuff from Amazon.
Beware that it's REALLY difficult to get it to work real nice around the sharp corners of the trim. I didn't try heating it up or anything because it's a matte black and I didn't want it to gloss over from heat/melting.
Honestly, you might want to look into vinyl wrapping through a local tint shop or similar - you should have better results that last longer. This stuff chipped and pealed in some areas after about 9 or 10 months in mild PNW weather.
Depending on what VW radio is in there now, I would look at the RCD330G. It's a factory VW part that's plug and play on most VWs of that vintage. I replaced the RCD510 in my 2012 Passat with one and it's been awesome. Planning on replacing the RNS315 in my wife's '12 Tiguan with one as well. Make sure it's model number is 6RD 035 187B as that's the one with CarPlay. Supports Android Auto as well.
Here's one on Amazon, although you can find them cheaper on eBay. RCD330G
This site is janky but has a lot of info: rcd330plus.com
I'm not saying it'll do any sort of tuning but I wouldn't waste my money on the OBDEleven, if all you want is monitoring, buy a cheap bluetooth OBDII transmitter on ebay for $4 and hook it up to your phone and use Torque or Dashcommand. If this OBDEleven does tuning I'm not sure how they accomplish that with a stock ECU but hey, to each their own. I would definitely keep anything that says it'll boost performance like this in the rearview and keep driving!
Most people are not friendly about knock-off Ross Tech gear so be warned.
Cheapest would probably be something like carista, if it supports your car and the changes you want. For that you only need a generic bluetooth adapter and a week pass for 10 bucks. Not sure if there are competitors in that market yet as I don't follow it.
If you're set on buying a VCDS clone cable (the ones that are ~30 bucks), the thing to know about them is that VCDS just uses a regular cable but it looks for a serial to validate the cable. Because of that, clone cables come bundled with a specific version of VCDS (i.e. 16.8.3) and if you don't update it / take it online they work fine (sometimes it's more troublesome like needs a specific date set on the computer). I've owned a few and never had any problems with them but ymmv.
That being said, you can usually buy genuine cables used or look on the vortex for someone in your area to just help you with it. Might be easier to go that route.
100% agree! I love VCDS but for just pulling codes it's overkill and having it tied to a laptop is a pain. I really wish rosstech would have done different licencing models for the different segments that use their products.
I'd go with a hand scanner first if just pulling codes. If op wanted something more I'd go with a bluetooth module and something like Carista before I ever paid for vagcom again.
Sounds like a good excuse to go ahead and get a cheap OBD2 bluetooth scanner and Torque to me.
There's a USB micro-B socket under a small removable cover on the Axxess adapter, you can use an Android phone with USB-OTG and their app or a laptop to run a firmware update on the adapter, might be worth a try. Also lets you modify the mapping of the steering wheel controls if you've got them.
I'd pull the stereo out and hook a multimeter (or a 12V lightbulb, or something) up to the black+yellow and black+red pairs to check the output from the adapter is what you expect. I assume the standard behaviour is like most of the VWs where the power to the stereo stays on until you pull out the key, not just when you turn it off and that's what the Axxess adapter is trying to replicate.
I recently changed my halogens to LED and these are what I bought for my mk7 golf: AUTOONE H7 LED Headlight Bulb,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09NLJ4VZW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share I don't have any issues with codes.
These have the part number in the advert if you wanted to search for a used set
Most likely VW had not started including USB ports in the 2011 models yet.
It may or may not have an aux port - check inside the center armrest, near the front. Also check in the glovebox.
Does it have a CD player? If you press the "CD" button twice on the stereo, does it show "AUX" on the display?
If you just need USB for charging, plug something like this info the 12 lighter/power socket:

Posted a photo of the TDI up on Santiago Peak a few months ago, have been out a few times since! Haven't changed much since the wheels/tires/lift we're installed, but we of course have a few things planned :)
Just ordered some underbody protection (sump/transmission/center+rear diffs) from Kolchuga in Ukraine, they should be here in about 2-3 weeks! Install seems straight forward so I'm hoping to have that/those on ASAP as I'm always worried when headimg out without it lol
Looking to get rock sliders and a good roof rack situation nailed down very soon too, tired of being afraid I'll drop onto the wrong rock and tired of having to lug my spare+recovery gear in my trunk hah
Also, here is a link to the trail that we hit today!: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/rattlesnake-canyon. The Touareg handled the whole trail no problem with some good spotting and some careful concern. The california desert is always beautiful and this trail is exactly that!
Just get some turtle wax polishing compound and it should take most of it out if its just paint transfer. But if its deeper you will need a respray.
But turtle wax is like $15, might as well give it a shot.
You can get yourself an obdii dongle for about 20 squids. There are lots of other features offered by this set up ( real time data, clearing codes, etc) but the code reader is the money. Good luck!

I just replaced my fender on a mkv rabbit - it was pretty easy, done in an afternoon. My paint is on it's way, I'm hoping it doesn't get too cold too quick. My rocker rotted though - a tab to screw the new fender into is gone. I por-15'ed what metal was left. I might have to do a patch job with an old license plate or something.
I used this to add that window feature to my Audi:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HCGJ8ST/
I had a 2001 Jetta for like 10 years and I liked being able to roll all the windows down before getting in the car on a hot day. I imagine you can use the same tool to add to a VW too.
Yah if you get the LED sweeping ones you'll need to get the lights themself, a wiring harness, and the bluetooth odb tool that works with ODB Eleven. If you happen to live in SoCal I'd be happy to do the coding for you or let you use mine.
I bought one of these on amazon once, it worked good for me. https://www.amazon.com/Winison-Carplay-RCD330-RCD330G-Tiguan/dp/B07S8FS1V5/ref=sr\_1\_16?crid=2ZZ8PM6J2AWVV&keywords=vw+radio+carplay&qid=1662081071&sprefix=vw+radio+carplay%2Caps%2C163&sr=8-16
Thanks! I got the Curt 59236 Wiring harness. One cable spliced onto each tail light, the cable going to the battery and the ground wire. After a bit of research and discovering Pulse width modulation now I know that one cable can control tail lights, brake lights and turn signals. Always learning something new!
I have the Draw-Tite Sportframe Hitch. I would have chosen something different, but it was already on the car when I got it.
Also didn't have any problems with braking, but I did happen to use common sense and drove like I had a trailer.

At least twice I almost freaked out because someone was tailgating me... But it was just the trailer. lol
rip it off, spray with 3M fabric adhesive, put it back on
a better way would be to go to a fabric store and get new fabric and use that instead of the old fabric
You can absolutely use Apple Carplay on this screen, or any Android-powered device as long as it has an accessible USB port and you can easily install APKs on it.
There are a few Apple Carpay dongles out there for use on Android-powered devices, such as this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Carlinkit-Wireless-Carplay-Android-MirrorScreen-Wireless-MIC/dp/B0919JPNLY?ref\_=ast\_sto\_dp
Or, get something like this... (I haven't tried it though)
Looks great! Not sure if refreshing the trim is on your radar but it should be.
I did my mk2 in 2020 and it still looks great. Easiest to remove the trim if you can except for the door mouldings.
It should be, but it might be a bit more expensive if you want to buy it outright, my own is this one.
Hmm interesting, Maybe go to AutoZone or Walmart and purchase some Gel Trim Dressing. I did this to my Pillas on the truck as they started to fade. They darkened right up.

I didn't have the stock head unit in my mk5 jsw. With that said if your radio doesn't have Bluetooth you can use something like this as a receiver. Of course you will need that 3.5 jack to plug it into the line in and this does not do voice / phone etc..
Bluetooth Transmitter Receiver, Aisidra V5.0 Bluetooth Adapter for Audio, 2-in-1 Bluetooth AUX Adapter for TV/Car/PC/MP3 Player/Home Theater/Switch, Low Latency, Pairs 2 Devices Simultaneously https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09DD33SDD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apan_i_6FBZS49X232ESCNCHDKF?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Get something like this, https://www.amazon.ca/SONRU-Bluetooth-Receiver-Hands-Free-Streaming/dp/B09V6GFTHW
It doesn't connect to the car other than for power, and you just connect to it with bluetooth and it outputs that to AUX.
You'll need to do a bit of research for the right one and I unfortunately don't use (aftermarket head unit) one so I can't recommend any, but this will work way better than an FM radio adapter.

I bought this one and it is actually pretty nice for what it is. CarPlay works flawlessly and super easy to install. And my 2013 Jetta didn’t come with a backup camera so I bought one and it was easy to install, just had to run a wire to the back and found a wire behind the back of the head unit that put out 12v and that was it. So far haven’t had any issues. 🤷🏼♂️
Parroting the others. This is not a wiper issue this is a WINDSHIELD issue. You've got it TOO clean without anything on the glass. This is exactly the issue of "squeaky clean" where the plastic and clean glass are just abrasive against each other. Getting a hydrophobic coating will give the rubber something smoother to slide against. I don't even bother using the actual RainX application stuff on my windshields any more I just use the RainX windshield washer fluid which has a small portion of the hydrophobic substance in with the normal cleaning solution. This will give a light coating on the windshield each time you use the fluid with your wipers and over the coarse of use, you will get a good surface coating which will help with both the squeaking and the rain beading up.
It sounds like you definitely use your windshield wiper fluid with some consistency, so seriously, just get the actual RainX windshield wiper fluid and the issue will go away, and you'll have a better functioning windshield too.

If nobody else has any better info on whether the head unit in your vehicle does have the hardware for this, then I'd suggest you look at the Motorola MA1 Android Auto Wireless adapter, it works with all Android devices which are capable of AA wireless.

This wouldn't require any changes to your car, just plug it into the existing usb, the same way you would have with your phone.

I can't guarantee it will work, but the hole in my key is 1.62mm and about 10mm long so that would be what I would get in your situation.
There is a great book called How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive I had one that was hole punched and put into a binder, perfect for working in the workshop.

If all you want is code reading you can get a plain ol' Bluetooth scanner for under $20, or go to AutoZone and use their "Fix Finder" for free.
oh ok that's what i was thinking. Disconnect the original antenna, buy an external antenna, plug in and glue it on the windshield from the inside
something like this maybe
It was an impulse buy in the Walmart checkout isle. Paid $10. Looks like this.
Parrot is releasing an option as well. this one will let you run either Android Auto or CarPlay

>How expensive? Parrot isn't saying, but given Pioneer's NEX units cost upwards of $800, that might give you an idea of what to expect.
According to this slideshow it's a Bill Bernbach ad which would make sense.
He was the one behind the "Think Small" campaign. I don't know anything else about that particular ad though.

You might be able to connect the seat wires to to this pigtails but I don't know if you need anything in between. Good luck my dude 😎
Look for a 12v 10 amp charger, like on Amazon. And then a way to connect the proper wires to the seat. You might need a fuse or a switch.

I use this one in my GTI. Not as easy to remove but i hardly ever have backseat passengers. Keeps my leather seats nice and clean. It's waterproof which is a bonus.

You’ll need a adapter. Figure out what thread is on the inside of the knob and then search for an adapter that clamps on to the top of the shift lever. I.E. this:

Need to scan, as others have said, but for a VW owner, may want to consider OBDeleven, or vcds. But for a more affordable option to read VW codes, I use this
It can read standard OBD faults, but also VW specific codes. This really has taken the guess work out of maintenance for me.
Ok!
Next question... 07K115397E is the part number. But 07K115397D says that it would fit my 2.5L as well. And I can get the D variant much quicker. Can you see a difference between the two? They look the same. I'll take some photos of the part from the vehicle too. I finally got it off.
I had this and it was an easy fix. Fan Motor Resistor. Mine was in the glove box. It was as simple as buy the appropriate one on eBay or Amazon. Unplug the battery. Plug in new resistor. Done. Variable speed fixed.
Mine was like this... Double check you have the part that fits your car https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07DLP9QLY/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_KZP9WTTT3FGMY339NGQQ
It's definitely higher than stock (this is a MK5 btw). Dewhel makes an adapter that sits probably an inch lower than the one I used. This is also the 70mm duracon, the 60mm would get it a bit closer to stock. I personally drive with my left hand in the wheel and my right rested in the shifter so for me personally the higher height is a little but more comfortable.
I don't have a short throw shifter but now that I'm done with this I'm definitely considering it. As of now it does feel like I'm rowing a boat a bit lol. I don't drive this car a ton though I kinda savor that extra .02 seconds between shifts.
One pleasant surprise is that this set up is actually an ounce heavier than stock if you were concerned about that at all.
These take minutes to install and work with no issues.

This site provides technical data for a various makes and models of Volkswagen & Audi vehicles as well as service procedures mostly in PDF format. Unfortunately as life would have it's mostly in Russian with a few English abbreviated Eng in between. One can always translate info via OCR for example. Anyway use it as you please.
Maybe you should get a set of these
