I agree with your initial reviewer that you have a “show don’t tell” issue. Your character descriptions in particular are very literal and info-dumpy. Could use more nuance.
You also use a lot of alternatives to “said” that feel forced. A good rule of thumb is to use said for about 60% of dialogue tags.
https://prowritingaid.com/Unusual-Dialogue-Tags
You also use names a bit excessively over pronouns. I’d mix it up more.
You also have a couple dialog tags with periods where there should be commas.
I think you start the story at the right point—very action-forward.
You also introduce a lot of characters very fast, though. I was a bit overwhelmed with information.
The coming out scene also seems very random and out of place.
To then go to the kingpin scene feels disjointed and confusing. Definitely threw me off. I’d stick with the main group for a while.
That said, I’m a little unsure about giving you this criticism after seeing your argument with the free reviewer. I’m not sure you’re really ready for criticism if you react so strongly to what you’ve received.
I think your premise is interesting and your dialogue is natural, but you’re never going to improve as a writer if you can’t learn from criticism and grow. I think the reviewer probably should have been more thorough, but I also agree with a lot of their critique.
When you asked for a review, were you really just interested in a positive review or were you open to the reader not liking the book?
I would recommend Tapas or Line Webtoon for comics. It's possible to put them on wattpad too, but it's not catered to webcomics like the other two sites are.
When you're just starting, having it in as many places as possible to give yourself more opportunity to be seen isn't bad either, though, so if you're really motivated, you can create accounts and do updates on all three.
Also, consider /r/comics and /r/webcomics
You can use royalty free images that suggest the character's mentioned in your stories. A cropped picture of a robed gentleman for example could imply a Snape-like character, or a close up shot of a wand and a book might suggest a Potter-like setting.
Even using a similar font style to the main series can help your adience to read between the lines so to speak.
Sounds like malware, go get Norton or some reputable scanner to check.

This is good. Also if it finds something, delete it. I've had no issues with Wattpad so it's probably another app being a bad actor.
I don't know if a bot like that exist but you can make your own bots. So, yes, a bot like that can exist but I know almost nothing about coding so, I can't help you with that.

Personally, I dislike posting links to any of my stories as it feels like I'll somehow inflate the statistics, so I prefer to link to my profile.

Now that I think about it, the main problem that I have with The Inheritance and A Dangerous Inheritance is that the covers only make sense after the first couple of chapters due to what they represent. They are not designed to catch peoples attention but to give a rough idea as to what the story is about.
I used PosterMyWall for my most recent book. It's like a free version of Canva, and I found it had way more ways to make a book cover look really cool. I spent around half an hour making my cover, since the colour schemes took some time to get used to, but in the end, I think it was wayy worth it. I highly suggest PosterMyWall.
https://www.postermywall.com/ is the link to the website, if you wanna check it out
I can only find this link on Amazon, but I assume you already have this link… the webpage also offers me the option for a free sample, maybe you could start reading that?
Good luck on your search! I hope you can get some closure
It's a fun, pop sci-fi survival/adventure set in the heart of Texas. It's got action, mystery, and prehistoric creatures.
Here's a quick blurb: When the people of Waxahachie, Texas wake to find themselves cut off from the rest of the world and surrounded by an unfamiliar and dangerous wilderness, they must work together to survive and unravel the cause of the mysterious 'seam'.
If you like disaster stories or books like Under the Dome, then you may like this.
It's the first in the series I am writing called 'Texas Accelerated.'
It's free on Kindle Unlimited if you have it! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BKLT4LW4
Just some more info about it from the FAQ:
> YONDER is part of the WEBTOON family of apps, which also includes Wattpad. Wattpad and WEBTOON have partnered closely with YONDER to bring to life an exciting new way to read serialized fiction for readers who want to spend more time binging on quality, curated content without any distractions.
The differences between Wattpad & YONDER
> Wattpad is for readers and writers who love a social storytelling experience with a global community of millions of fans. It's where anyone can start their writing hobby or career, get instant feedback from readers, indulge in an expansive catalog of stories, and more.
> YONDER is a new app for the reading you love, with serialized stories reimagined for every appetite. You can enjoy access to fresh, handpicked stories daily, for those who want curated, quality reading and less distraction.
The app is currently available on Android only so far. From the looks of it, the app has been a thing since this month.
I guess it's going to be Wattpad's own answer to Radish Fiction. Curious to see how it's going to be in the long run.
It's good, but it needs sustenance. Check out The Anatomy of Prose by Sacha Black
It really helped me gain an understanding on how to show and not tell.
For example, joyfully can be changed to "--" he said from a grinning mouth. Don't tell us he's joyful unless it's absolutely necessary. Instead, show us his joy.
I've had pretty good luck on Tapas.io . It's for novels and comics, but the novels section is growing and the community is nice. It's very LGBT friendly, so you'll find a good number of LGBT stories on there. There are paid stories, but you can lock them by watching ads or answering surveys and earning ink. You can also tip use that ink to tip writers. I've gotten two dollars in tips so far (and I don't really update regularly or advertise much), but I know a couple of people who get more (a couple of hundred bucks) every month from it. Of course, these are writers that have been on the site for a couple of years.
It actually needs more hetero-romance writers and stories. Please come over if you feel inclined. It has a pretty good app, too. The few gripes I have are the 15K character limit on chapters, and that the site is smaller than Wattpad. Also, free stories get square-shaped covers and paid stories get the normal 5:8 ratio covers.

It's a 4 book series. I haven't read it I just like looking at it to remind myself you don't have to be serious to be successful. It's helped a lot with some issues I have had in the past with looking down on certain kinds of writing because people looked down on me. I am trying to be better, I want to be better. It's just a journey.
I understand how frustrating it is. Until a few years, mobile data in India was pretty expensive. Now, it's dirt cheap so I don't feel the crunch, but I get it.
As I keep saying on this subreddit, try tapas.io if you read original fiction. Unlimited downloads, and they have comics as well as novels.
I don't use Wattpad much these days. I feel like I have to do way more work marketing rather than actually writing for my work to get noticed, and I don't want that. I will be the first to admit, I'm not the best writer, but I know I'm better than some of the stuff that gets more attention. Not saying I deserve millions of reads or anything. I'm just better than crap, is what I mean.
So, I switched over to Tapas. It's been a month, and it's okay.
The ones I use right now:
Tapas.io (this is for both comics and novels. The novels section of the website is up and coming, but there's a really nice community and it's quite promising.)
Scribophile.com (this is not a sharing website, just a place for genuine critique. It's hard work, so I don't use it often)
Thank you for the offer.
Subscribe to this and you'll be my fourth subscriber! But only if you want to. Another thing I love about the site. Subs for subs is really looked down on by the artists and writers. Most of the community wants to gain subs through their own merit.
I've switched over to Tapas.io . It's a website for comics and novels, and no fanfiction is allowed. It's much smaller than Wattpad, but the community is nice and if you put effort into you do get results.
I'm not disparaging fanfiction, but I know that it's much easier to get reads on Wattpad if you write fanfiction rather than original fiction. I did an experiment (not a 100% foolproof experiment, mind you) where I wrote two stories. One was a chick-lit story under my main Wattpad account, and one was a fanfiction under a pen name. The chick-lit story got around twenty reads in the first month. I posted about it in the forums, share your works, etc. The fanfiction, I did nothing. It got 30K reads in the first month. It wasn't even a popular fandom. I wrote the fanfiction of a Hindi soap opera that's been off the air for six years.
There are great stories on Wattpad, but I feel like the algorithm doesn't work for the average reader. I remember reading some really good fantasy books. Constantine (Daughter of War), A Touch of Poison, Paladin, The Fates series, etc. With the exception of romance stories, I heard about most of my favorite books on Wattpad from friends. And despite voting for them and having them in my library, I'm rarely suggested similar stories. Instead, I get the same generic recommendations.
I don't think Wattpad will ever go back to how it was originally. The teenagers simply outnumber all the other groups on Wattpad, and the company will cater to demand.

You may not use any photo, drawing or anything that does not belong to you and that the author/owner has not allowed you to use. Does this mean that everything on the web is forbidden to use? Fortunately, no. I suggest you use websites that allow you to use their graphics for your own purposes. For example, here is one i personally can recommend. You can find there free and legal photos/art's
You may not be sure, if the art you found for example in Google graphics is legal to use. You should always use pages like this i sensed to u. Trust me, I just passed my copyright exam 🤣
So there’s a lot to unpack here.
1) “Objectively bad books” don’t exist because art is inherently subjective. People read what they enjoy. There’s no such thing as “objectively bad” writing.
2) Romance is one of the world’s most popular genres. It’s hardly Wattpad specific.
3) All the descriptors you’ve used for romance as a genre are inaccurate and based on a lot of centuries-old misogyny and misconceptions. Here’s a book on it if you’re interested: https://www.amazon.com/Dangerous-Books-Girls-Reputation-Explained-ebook/dp/B00VGGW4RO
4) Ultimately, readers do decide who gets opportunities because reads and votes affect rankings, which affect visibility. It’s in Wattpad’s best interest to promote stories that readers enjoy.
The thing is, maybe people on Wattpad aren’t your audience. Maybe they don’t like the things you like. Maybe the genre isn’t popular. Maybe they just don’t like your writing. I don’t know. But I think you should acknowledge that your narrow definition of what is “quality” is not everyone’s definition and that you’re basing a lot of your assumptions on stereotypes. You have to remember that no one is entitled to readership or fame or opportunities, and other people having success is not a threat to you.
I’m personally very happy with my own Wattpad experiences and the opportunities I’ve had, but I also know my audience and the platform makes sense for what I like to write. This may just be the wrong platform for you.
Seriously doubt it's "dying" by looking at the web traffic.

They're still the largest of the user-generated ebook sites.
Oh dear, guys I typed out the link and looked at the survey. It's all about monetisation! I just recently started writing my first novel, I think my story is right up your alley, it's being written currently - An Illusionist's Delusions
I've been on Wattpad for 4 years or so. There are a couple of hidden gems on there, but I'm pretty picky.
My dark fantasy novel is up on Wattpad here. I'm currently seeking publication, so in a few months I may take it down, but it may be your type of thing.
I'll also recommend my friend Taran's book, Summoner, which has done extremely well on Wattpad. He signed a six-figure deal on it and it's coming out in 2015. Yes, I'm jealous.
Anyway, not sure what the advertising policies are on this sub, but hope you enjoy either of those!
For anyone who's an R.L. Stine fan, here's your chance to write the middle of a new Fear Street story.
I hope to see some of you fellow Redditors posting your stories soon!
Are you trying to post from the website or a mobile device? If it's an iOS device choose "Report a Problem" from Settings. I think you can do the same from Android, though I'm not positive. Otherwise, try the help center.

If you just need a stock image this might work? If it doesn’t, try fishing around the site, everything there is stock and royalty free with no cost.
Lol okay, so you fold your fingers into your palm, and instead of gripping with your fingertips, you hold it between your knuckles. (Type with your knuckles too)
I also had a friend who was a little person and she had an accessibility tool because her arms weren't long enough. (Here is an example https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07R41RY24/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_C7HBH9HSM5T7BSAGXPXB )
At home I just have a Bidet. It was 45$ only because it also has an air setting they start at 15. You can pay for your bidet in reduced TP cost in like a month.
Hi! I was just looking for that story last night and it turns out the author unpublished it on Wattpad and self-published it on Amazon instead. Here is the link (it's called Spellbound After Midnight): https://www.amazon.ca/Spellbound-After-Midnight-Ever-Deadly-ebook/dp/B0846QTY26/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=spellbound+after+midnight&qid=1605652056&sr=8-1

Hi, I'd recommend you a Spanish novel called " ¡No sé de cuál enamorarme! " by Leen iO; a Latin American author. It's easy to understand and it's a great novel for Spanish learners.
The novel is a romance, but mostly focus on the main character's daily activities and being fun. It has a lot of little details that, if you pay close attention, can reward you with understanding some characters real intentions before it's even reveal.
Well, I won't spoil you anything, but the ending is really heartwarming. Specially, if you fall in love with the characters.
I'll give you the link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WHBK386

You can also read it free if you have Amazon Prime.
Absolutely if you have Android, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grammarly.android.keyboard
If you have an apple I am sorry you will just have to search Grammarly in the app store.
Just install run the program to set up and then restart your phone.
I use Desygner book covers it's literally for use with Wattpad.

I don't see how Superimpose could be unsafe so long as you are making sure to use copyright free images.

Stephen King's - On Writing Book is quite good. Kind of a mixture of biography and practical advice.
Bird by Bird - Anne Lamott, is also another book with both biography and writing advice that is good.
I would recommend starting with these over an expensive class when you're starting out. It would probably be better to go into a class like that with some more practical skills already, rather than first thing.
/r/writing may also be able to give you better advice on the MasterClass - as someone there may have already done it.
