Use the pause function liberally. Everytime you see somebody perform a punch, a slip, a footwork movement, or any other move you like, PAUSE the video. Study it, rewind it, youtube's an absolute gold mine.
If you are watching somebody who is the reverse stance as you ( orthodox, southpaw ) use a site like deturl to reverse the video. Or use an actual mirror so you can watch it reversed, in order to understand the fighter's movements better. I'm orthodox, and I like to watch Manny Pacquiao this way.
As a general rule, focus on paying attention to the fighter's footwork, the rhythm of their movement, as well as defense. These are the nuances that really make up a fighter's particular style.
Whats up /r/amateur_boxing? I asked a while back what would be a good heavy bag for outdoor use and some people recommended I buy a buoy and fill it with water, so I did. I bought the 18 inch buoy off of Amazon for a little over $70 (name brand aqua bag cost $150) and hung it from my tree with nylon rope from Lowe's. Filling it with water was my main concern but all you need is a flat head screwdriver to remove the cap and a pair of long pliers to remove the tiny rubber bulb inside.
Please feel free to critique my bag work and keep in mind I've been hitting the bag for about 6 months.
I am using Sabas Pro-Series 160z gloves.

Like others have said, make sure you’re properly wrapping your hands first. If you’re still tearing your knuckles, get one of those large, round sponges and cut it in two:
Creative Hobbies 10 Pack of 3-1/2 Inch Round Synthetic Silk Sponges for Painting, Crafts, Ceramics, Household Use & More! Pack of 10 Sponges https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FIG2FM6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Pd-wFbGFT1Q33
Put the flat side on your knuckles and wrap your wrappings like normal. It should give you the extra cushion you need. I had the same issue years ago and this helped me out a ton.
I personally use the Boxing Interval Timer, however something like this may suite your needs better (I've never personally used this before, however): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.InstinctiveSystems.RandomTimerFree
Here's a personal one I compiled for myself:
https://www.notion.so/workout-routines-fc0be00cd4d342f69c3d0e26e2dbea5f
list of exercises to do, mainly grouped by objective (strength, speed, agility, heavy bag, etc). I've also copied routines as closely as possible from full routines from pros posted on YT.
You're doing the right thing, and you're definitely on the right track. I have to say, I'm impressed by the fact that you're waiting to gear up before hitting the bag.
Someone else recommended the Expert Boxing website, that's a good place to start.
A good book to get is Box Like The Pros by Joe Frazier, or Championship Fighting by Jack Dempsey. You can read the Dempsey book here:

The best way to learn is still to find a good coach at a boxing gym. I know you said you don't have access to a gym. Isn't there someone who can help you out with your technique and training, even if just a little every couple of weeks? You really need somebody to get you on the right technique before you can do some home training, somebody who can make sure your posture is correct, your footwork, your defense, and your punches. It's very difficult to correct bad technique later on if your body is already used to moving incorrectly.
Another piece of equipment I'd recommend is a full length mirror so that when you shadowbox you can see your reflection and correct yourself if you spot any mistakes in your technique. But of course, you have to know the correct technique first in order to correct yourself.
Gotcha!

Yeah I want to tighten mine but I'd have to tie a lot more knots here lol and as far as new rope goes all I found we're bungees too and they don't work as well either.
Vinegar. Pour a tablespoon into your washing machine when washing your clothes. Create a vinegar/water solution and spray in your gloves. You could also get some glove deoderizers from Amazon.
You can get small zippered garment bags on Amazon like this. I also use them to contain my dirty clothes after workouts.

Pro Impact Mexican Style Boxing Handwraps 180"
Admittedly I didn't use many different brands, but this one is really solid. The texture of the wrap feels like a safety belt, it secures the hand well. Elasticity, durability and color-wise still been going strong for over 6 months. Way better alternative than everlast's entry level wrap.
That’s what I use in my gloves, but not the only thing to keep them clean smelling.
Gloves get really sweaty up in there, and that dark, padded environment breeds stink bacteria. I take a couple of short lengths of dowels and shove them inside - right around where the wrists are - to prop them open, and then I stand them over my floor vent overnight to air them out. And then I stick the deodorant balls in there. There are deodorizers designed for boxing gloves but I’ve never bothered to get them.
All of the comments already suggested are excellent advice, but one extra thing I would suggest is using a coaching app. I used this for shadow boxing at home but it works just as well for bag work. Get some cheap bluetooth headphones on to get rid of tangled wires and you're good to go.

Amazon has the full set of CDs and the DVD. I haven't seen the boxing CD by itself.
I have this and it works for me. I was gonna go with a facesaver also but visibility was a concern. I have an extra for sale also after Amazon screwed up my order in a Medium, if you're interested PM me.
Hey here's in an amazon canada link to the headgear I use! It's the most affordable one for me although I live in Texas!
Ring to Cage C17 2.0 gloves are sick and have excellent wrist support, they are clones of Winning gloves with some tweaks all at a $99 price point. I've had mine for 2 years and after getting them I never have issues with hand or wrist pain.

edit: they have them on amazon as well, but they are a bit more expensive https://www.amazon.com/Ring-Cage-Japanese-Style-Training-Boxing/dp/B0143R1VOE/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1533148236&sr=1-1&keywords=ring%2Bto%2Bcage%2Bc17&th=1&psc=1
Since you’re having to wait a couple days until washing, you can still soak them in that bucket, but add some Dawn in there with them. Swish it around good.
When you wash them, add some Downy Fresh Protect (Amazon link so you can see the product, but you should easily be able to find it locally if you’re in the US). Instead of regular laundry detergent, I use Dawn for the gym load (we have BJJ gis so it’s a big load). If you use Dawn or any other dish liquid, reduce the amount because it’s a lot more potent that regular laundry detergent.
I wash nasty gym laundry for two people. My husband has very rank gym clothes. Synthetics seems especially prone to wanting to stay stinky, and this method works great for us.
I've not read it yet, but as a fellow anxiety sufferer and (Thai) boxer, I've been eyeing this book up with interest. I read the intro on Amazon, which sounds good.
I got "nextour headband 3 piece headband" off of amazon to help with the sweat that would keep going into my eyes during workouts. The size seems to be able to fit anyone snugly, not too tight, stays in place, has no logo or design on it, and I haven't had sweat in my eyes with it since. 9.57 USD for black 3 pc set. Very pleased with them, plus they feel nice!

Ok. I might help you out a bit. Keeping in mind of all the places the other posters have goven you.
Firstly, while you have still wifi..
Try to screenshot the maps of the boxing gyms you can find as of now. You said Everest? Good. Perhaps you find one or 2 more. Save many version of it.. this is in case you wont have portable wifi in korea.
download this... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.translate
This is a google translate app that when you take the picture of the korean word.. it can translate it for you quickly.
Next... forget about finding a boxing gym first. What you can do is, unpack your clothes and then head down to a bicycle shop. A good sturdy mountain bike, korea roads have quite a few potholes, road bikes will kill them rims.
Now.. once you have your inexpensive mountain, we ride.
Try to find the gyms. On your bike. Trust me, this is my go to strategy if i am to go to Korea.
Firstly, look out for.. the traffic. Because korea driver ¯_(ツ)_/¯.
Next, look out for banners.. standing banners or the horizontaal banners... you usually see the word boxing or someone in a posed boxing stance.
Cant find banners? Thats the reason why you have the bike, you cover much more ground aimlessly cycling on a cheap bike than aimlessly walking on the road.
And then, its just luck and oppopitinity (no spell sheck).
Tl:dr: download app.save map.buy bike.go find.lucky.go box.head body head body.
P.s: i dont know if you will get your Alien registration card on that day but you might be able to get yourself a portable wifi called 'olleh egg'.
How is this any different from something like this? https://boxingtimer.org/ https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brucemax.boxintervals
Apps look very similar as well. Plus, it seems you have a monthly charge of $3, where this one is a single purchase of $3.
Not sure that a boxing timer warrants a subscription.
I had the same problem as you and what helped was putting extra padding on my knuckles before wrapping my hands. I know there are specific ones made for boxing like this but I just used regular sports wristbands like this for padding and it works just fine.
One interesting thing I noticed doing this is that the gloves I use actually curve more at the knuckles with pads vs just wraps. It's just hypothetical but I feel like there is a bit of loose space in my gloves when I just use wraps but that space is gone when I'm using pads for my knuckles.
I’ve tried Shock Doctor and Brain Pad. If I had to choose I like the Brain Pad better, but it’s a bit bulky.
But I would like to try something custom in the future. Like where I send in a mold of my teeth.
Ahh too late. I shadow box with 3 pound weights pretty often so I don't think it will be too bad. Anyways they aren't mickey mouse gloves like ya might think either. https://www.amazon.com/Deluxe-MiM-Foam-Sparring-Boxing-Gloves/dp/B00BHNM4DA. I liked the idea of the weight being more even spread and well my bag gloves are about at the time to replace anyways. Haybusa T3s have lasted about a year, longest I've had a pair of gloves without them busting up. I also like the idea of having some more padding while hitting the heavy bag.
I use 1.0 inch WAR TAPE.
I use it because sometimes It makes it hard to type on a keyboard after doing a lot of heavy bag work.
But any athletic tape will work.
I find this topic confusing too with a heap of conflicting information
There’s a relatively well known MMA conditioning coach called Joel Jamieson and I bought his book on the subject.
he is a big advocate for low intensity aerobic base building when out of camp. He argues (backed up by references to scientific literature) that having a strong aerobic base will allow this energy system to do a lot of the work when fighting / sparring. A coding to Joel, this is a benefit as our aerobic system can go for hours (but lacks all out power).
A strong aerobic base saves you from using your relatively limited (but more powerful) energy that’s generated by anaerobic system. then when it’s time for higher intensity exchanges that push you to start using the anaerobic system (this system produces power but has limited energy) it’s still fresh and can go to the next level.
Dunno if this makes sense but this is the book
I’m still experimenting with what works best for me but definitely feel I perform better when im doing at least one 30-60 min aerobic base building run / week plus other training mention already
Nutrabio, I loved their whey protein, and the flavors are very good especially the donut cinnamon flavor. Where you can buy it
Biting and holding weight will over time potentially stress your teeth, especially as the weight increases and you bite harder.
For neck training I purchased a harness for my head like this one: Hawk Sports Neck Harness, Neck Exerciser Builder Support for Strength & Resistance https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PVBRZS1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_1BE1BJMF5VRRJDQN5JSA?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
With this harness on, I do very controlled reps with plates loaded onto the chain portion. I never swing or move with too much momentum, to avoid injury. Slow, controlled reps are what I aim for every workout.
Do they hurt or just shake? Anyways, just make sure to make a good fist right at point of impact. Something like this really helps forearm strength too https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VPJ6C4X/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0&th=1. And this helps grip strenght https://www.amazon.com/NIYIKOW-Strengthener-Adjustable-Resistance-Rehabilitation/dp/B0838G23M1/ref=sr_1_7?crid=2QZXARB7ESM7E&keywords=grip+strength&qid=1645730146&s=sporting-goods&sprefix=grip+strength%2Csporting%2C162&sr=1-7. If they hurt at all just go a little lighter it takes a bit to build up the strength toughness in your knuckles. Even if they don't hurt you might want to just go a little lighter if they are shaking hours later.
Hi I have a heavy bag and stand like this https://www.walmart.com/ip/15063341?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222228000585188&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=40331993792&wl4=pla-61978143443&wl5=9030289&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&... And the damn thing moves like crazy. There are holes in my ceiling about two feet behind the top of it because when I hit the bag it rocks so hard it lifts off the ground. Any tips? I've been thinking of putting bags of sand downtown weigh it down more
Dempsey was talking about a sort of power left straight he called the "Jolt" a nifty little punch if you can get used to it. Dempseys books is wonderful, absorb as much of it as you can.
The technique in video one was the way I was taught to throw the straight right. Though the guy in the video doesn't know what he is talking about when he says the straight right is always called a cross. A cross is a specific counter.
https://archive.org/details/Boxing The link above is to Edwin Haislets "Boxing" an excellent book on the fundamentals of Boxing from a guy that was a top notch amateur coach. You could do far worse than this book for a reference.

Glad you liked it u/Saveonion. Next week we should be adding a feature where you can save/share a "card" with some stats from your workout, something like this....https://snipboard.io/tHRGP0.jpg
And in a few weeks we hope to have an iOS app out.
I have been skipping for a few years. Not a runner. I never run actually. Ironically I started skipping so that I can start running haha.
Anyway my average rotations per minute is about 125-130. I aim for 10 minutes non stop atleast. But my "workout" is 15 minutes non-stop then for the rest of the hour I do tricks or speed training.
So if you are breaking 2000 into 2 parts, 1000 is about 7 to 8 minutes depending on your speed. (I am assuming medium speed).
If you need a good interval timer I recommend this one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cc.dreamspark.intervaltimer
This isn't the best example, but here's a video of my coach and I doing some mittwork, and you can kind of see what I'm talking about. Like when he throws a straight, and I slip and throw back. Small steps. Do you have a coach who you can work with on mitts? Mitts and drilling are really the way to get it into your head as second nature, so when you're sparring/fighting it's second nature.
Punching bag - low ceiling
Hello,
I built a gym in my garage and I'd very much like to get a heavy bag. Unfortunately, the ceiling is quite low : 6.7 feet.
What would be your advice? Did anyone face the same issue?
Should I get a ceiling mount, a wall mount, or a "stand" that directly sits on the ground?
What about freestanding bags? I always considered them as shitty bag but I don't know.
I searched for a while, and found some topics here and there but all the picture/product links were dead (404).
so i'm 13 and can't go to any boxing gyms in my area, and i was wondering if there were any substitutes to heavy bags that could be installed in my house. i haven't got much space, so i was thinking about wall-mounted pads like this or anything similar. would this be effective in any way? thanks in advance for any help
I seriously cannot recommend these enough

Use a gyro ball for wrist strengthening. I sprained both wrists boxing and went to an occupational therapist and that was the most effective recommendation. It’s a good idea to use it periodically even if you’re wrists aren’t sprained just to build up & coordinate those muscles, esp if you’re doing a sport like boxing. I own this one: https://www.amazon.com/Auto-Start-Trainer-Forearm-Exerciser-Strengthener/dp/B08DDDJJ8Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_sspa?crid=1KZ6YLE6MI2LA&dchild=1&keywords=gyro+ball&qid=1630774794&sprefix=gyro&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkU...
Do something like this to make sure your wrists are strong. https://www.amazon.com/DMoose-Exerciser-Equipment-Strength-Anti-Slip/dp/B08YRXZZ6Q. Then like another guy said pull your gloves off (with wraps and/or bag gloves https://www.amazon.com/Title-Boxing-Leather-Mitts-Black/dp/B08KWQ64HN/ref=sr_1_30?_encoding=UTF8&c=ts&dchild=1&keywords=Boxing+Bag+Gloves&qid=1629661397&s=sports-and-fitness&sr=1-30&ts_id=3400101) and hit the bag very lightly, making sure you are connecting with your big knuckles first and your wrist straight. Sounds like you are probably hitting with your pinky and/or not keeping your wrist straight at you hit. As an aside, are you a guitar player? My roomate that is a guitar player has this issue.

Seen some pros train with something like this https://www.amazon.com/Sunsign-Resistance-Exercises-Basketball-Stackable/dp/B07K6FKR6V/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=Boxing+Resistance+Bands&qid=1627410070&sr=8-5 but I don't know if its for speed as much as it is for endurance.
I have been told if I want to be faster to hit faster so I will do speed focused rounds on the heavy bag or with shadowboxing. In a way these resistance things slow ya down so I don't know how beneficial it is to get faster. I do weighted shadowboxing too and don't think it has really made me faster but has helped my muscular endurance.
I haven't tried cutting angles off a slip before, sounds like something I gotta practice on, I'll add it thanks!
It took me some time to get to this range haha I'll take it more back then. I think I get lazy when the bag comes back so I let the bag and my punch meet in the middle instead of full extension. Thanks for pointing it out!
I'll think of more snap on my punches next time, I think I'm more focus just making contact with the bag than snapping.
Working the jab I forget to bring it back, gotta be good at the basics. I'll work on this thank you.
My foot work needs a lot of work lol Ill think to make smaller adjustments rather than a big step. Are ladder drills good for this?
Condition is good, not great. But I filmed this at the end of my workout which probably wasn't good lol but at least I know what I'm lacking. I'll try to do one fresh next time.
I like leaning back it's fun, but i think I've been slipping the bag too long to change it up. I'll be sure to add more stepping in and out along with leaning back.
Yes I got the bag from Amazon, be aware the rope is very elastic so I had to tie extra knots in-between to get the right amount of tension.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0851C8KSL?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Appreciate the feedback and for going into the details. Thanks mucho bro! 🤙🏽
If you want to be able to do it more then you just need more reps in. When hitting the heavy bag I will often go speed for a round. Power for the next. Then speed and power on the next.
Shadowboxing with weights helps. Those boxer band setups also look good for working on it. https://www.amazon.com/Sunsign-Resistance-Exercises-Basketball-Stackable/dp/B07K6FKR6V/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=boxing+resistance+bands&qid=1621360302&sr=8-5
“Relentless” by Tim Grover. A MUST READ FOR ANY COMPETITOR. Even if you don’t feel like purchasing his book, Grover’s been on different podcasts and done interviews detailing his time training Michael Jordan with Scottie Pippen, and Dwyane Wade, and Kobe Bryant. The book is definitely written with an aggressive “enough with all your bullshit” tone that forces the reader to face the facts and uphold self-accountability with ass-kissing optimism nowhere to be found in any page.

they come in a leather version but doesn't seem to be available in 14oz which their chart suggests for my hand size
oh hey look i just happened to land here at the opening of the thread!
hey y'all, just getting into a little bit of heavy bag training and trying to figure out what i know and what i need to learn.
first off- gloves. i have these fingerless mma gloves i got from a local store that were a great idea initially because i could use my phone and stuff with them on, but i find i'm getting burns on my knuckles. can someone reccommend a decent beginner glove for me (amazon canada) that isn't too expensive and heavy? i saw these which seem similar but better than what i currently have, any reason not to go with them?
secondly, i am so far into doing like 10-20 minutes before a weightlifting workout, and like to follow along with videos on youtube. i've been following Nate Bower, are there any other channels that have good heavy-bag focused content that I can follow along with?
most Important thing is your diet. learn about how muscle mass and dieting works, it'll be a great help in every aspect of athletes life.
personally I learned all the basics from this book, it teaches you a lot
he also wrote a female version of the book but I haven't read it
I got one off of Amazon that is AMAZING and only $60.

Sorry if this has been asked to death, but stupid questions welcome, right? I’ve been boxing for about two months 3x/week. I got some new hand wraps so I can always have a clean pair (apparently you can get athletes foot on your hands, sooo trying to avoid that). I kept seeing these on Amazon. I never remember to ask when I’m at the gym, but what’s the deal with these? They seem more efficient, but i don’t see anyone using them at the gym. Are they really just for other types of martial arts/mma? Will they not fit in my gloves? Thanks!
Recently signed up at a local Title Boxing Club and I'm loving it so far. Strictly doing bag training for now, but I'd like to go ahead and start using some gloves other than the ones on loan at the gym, but I'm not exactly sure which size/brand to go for.
When I mentioned that I didn't want to exactly break the bank, one of the trainers there recommended Venum's Elite in either 12 or 14 oz (currently on sale for between $60 and $75 on Amazon). Any thoughts here on that rec? Thanks.
I've had this sucker for over 2 years. It's nothing special. But, it's cheap and does the trick. Looking at it now it doesn't look to be in stock on amazon anymore. You can always buy from them directly or look for something similar.
When I started I was told to buy Venum gloves.
As for wraps, I personally liked these ones on amazon called Sanabul.
im also a beginner, but i got venum gloves and wraps off amazon, they arent very expensive and i love them so far.
I purchased this one from amazon

You can set work time and rest time in seconds.
And one other thing: jump rope alternate feet/running skip as fast as you can really works the muscular endurance of your arms as well.
You will anyways. I have this thing https://www.amazon.com/Difficulty-Training-Punching-Coordination-Equipment/dp/B07R3RRTD6 that I feel helps me for being able to keep my eyes open as punches are coming at me. There are also drills you can do that aren't sparring that will help ya but eventually it's just school of hard knocks.
Yes I do; i wear running belt.
It'd bother me when things would bounce in the pockets of my shorts and there were times stuff would fall out too, mainly when I do dashes.
I also like having my hands be free :)
This is the one i bought - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JF9DWWU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_9gPpFbS6NRGBV
You can find dozens of them in Amazon if you search for double end bag. Here's one, although I'm pretty sure I paid more like $15 for mine, so dig around a bit.
I made one using a tennis ball and an elastic boot lace i had... got tired of it pretty quick. Bought this one off amazon and it's much better. Only complaint is that the elastic slowly gets more prone to twisting, which makes the ball act a little goofier over time, but they send you a spare elastic for each ball in the kit, so whatever.
This post may seem pretty pointless, and it might be to some of you. But I had a few people PMing me asking me what bag I was getting after asking the subreddit about hanging vs standing bags.
I got this $80 bag from Amazon and it comes unfilled, mine is 5 feet long but you have the option of getting one that is 4 feet. I put 5 bags of rubber mulch ($40 worth) in it from home depot. It weighs about 90 lbs, but you can change the material or add more or less depending on your preference.
The bag comes with gloves and chains, however you need to buy a heavy bag hanger as well, here’s the one I used:
I hope some of you guys find this useful!
Amazon, they’re taxed now i got it for like 150 last year. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0046XMB9U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_gz5GEbY6T5G06. The speed bag is kinda wonky so id recommend a cheaper one with just the bag tbh.
Awesome! I love when things just work out like that. I just order this boot heater. I didn't even know these exist until I saw someone replied to your thread.. I'm so glad I read that. Friends! If you'd like to make one of these for yourself but dont have access to a crafts/fabric store in your area, here's an amazon link for the elastic cord that I've found works best.. There's even different colors if you want to get fancy.
Measure your arm from your armpit to the tip of your fist, and add a about 3 inches to make up for the knots you're going to tie. If its a bit long, don't worry. As long as you use a snapback/baseball hat with a hole like OP has, you can adjust the length pretty easily.
A metal meat thermometer works great for poking a hole in the ball. After you measure and cut your cord, tie the end off with a basic overhand knot and use the meat thermometer to push the knot into the hole. It's a bit tricky, but as long as you're pushing straight down on the knot you'll get it.
Tie the other end with another overhand knot to the hat, and you're done! Like I said before, if you find the cord is a bit long, you can adjust it; just loop the ball once or twice around the strap of the hat.
It’s $190 on Amazon. this is the one?
I agree with a custom fit dentist mould but if that's not an option then the mouth guard I always recommend in the SISU Max 2.4mm.
These mouthguards are much thinner than your standard mouthguards but they are bulletproof. They aren't like your normal boil and bites, they come completely flat. You put it in warm water and it softens and you fold it around your teeth and use your tongue to shape it and suck on it for a good fit. If you somehow manage to fuck it up, you pop it back into the water and it will flatten itself out again, it's incredible. Because they are so thin you can talk normally with it in and drink water etc without having to take it out which is good because there's no way you'd be able to get it out with gloves on, you need to pick it out with your fingers as it is so snug.

They also do a thinner 1.6mm version but I've never used that personally.

My favorite gloves to buy are cleto Reyes gloves. I use 12oz for the bag and I use 16oz for sparring. They use good quality leather and last for years if your take care of them “like don’t leave them in your bag after training” take em out and let them air dry. I have small hand so these gloves do actually fit my hands like a glove. I’m a boxer puncher, so I don’t like too much padding on the knuckle part of my gloves because I like to feel my knuckles land on target when striking- if you have fragile hand this glove is not for you. And last but not least wrist support, so this glove is designed with most padding on the wrist. So I feel the wrist protection... guys this is only my experience with this glove I love this glove and been buying them since 2006.
As for links here you go these are some 12 oz ones
Go for ring to cage, excellent value. Amazon has a model that goes for 50+ but one color goes for 30 and they look great in person.

Try using a heavier jump rope, because I think it's your shoulders that tire out more than just your arms. I've used this one for a while and it works wonders
Thanks. They are bag gloves. Do you have recommendations about something specifically?

There's this thing called "The Stick." You could probably make due with a broom handle or something as well, but you rub it up and down your shins after your run. I don't know if it's a permanent solution (or if more running eventually fixes it), but it definitely helped me when I used to get shin splints. Most running stores will have one lying around that you can try out.
I have size 12 (US) wide feet and I'm in need for boxing shoes. I've searched across Google and the ones I've come across (Rival, Sabo, etc.) are either out of stock or doesn't come in my size. Are there any suggestions or opinions of boxing shoes for wide feet? I came across the Rebook's Men Boxing Boot ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01I5JNXP6/ref=cm\_sw\_em\_r\_mt\_dp\_U\_RZ7.CbZMCZFFV ) but before I purchase this, I'd like to know everyone's experience with this shoe or others that may work and are also freaking available.
My professor in college was huge into performance psychology, mental/emotional toughness, and unlocking the “flow state”. He had the 45+ year experience to back it up in a profession where most people can’t even crack the first major job. He always recommended Herrigel’s Zen In the Art of Archery, BAR NONE,as the best way to understand how to cultivate successful performance habits. It’s a quick read, and pretty affordable. The wood beams that support a house are very sturdy. They will have no problem supporting the weight of the bag and the impact of your punches. There are spring attachments you can hang the bag from to keep the vibrations from making noise throughout the house. Cordyceps mushrooms for sure help me with endurance. I was a runner long before I ever got involved in any martial arts and they definitely make a difference. A 10 mile run feels like a 7 mile run. Same with Boxing too. I use this stuff as it's cheaper than Onnits overpriced BS and arguably more effective.
Hey Im thinking about getting mitts, and have thought that these RDX mitts Does anyone have any thoughts on these?
Also, I was eyening some Leone 1947 gloves. Does anyone have any experience using these. Expertboxing's glove review says leones have become pretty cheap quality over the years, but im not sure how much I trust that site's reviews these days.
I just ordered a couple 10 pounders online: Amazon Link
I can't wait til it arrives. Now I can brag to my friends that I play with my balls.
I found this rope on amazon that at least for the past few weeks I've owned it has worked really well: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FJXNYY1/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It comes with 2 ropes and a little protector you can use on them if you're skipping on non-smooth surfaces, so the value is pretty nice too
Reebok Boxing Boots are good and the price is right on Amazon at $67, depending on your size, otherwise they run $80-$90.

Has someone tried the Winning Quick Hand Warps? Talking about this one https://www.amazon.com/WINNING-Simple-bandage-wraps-boxing/dp/B00DGN4UNG/ref=pd_aw_sim_200_of_32?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=FZAC0VGNKT1XGRHB12H7
Was wondering if they are good but I’m not able to find any reviews or videos whatsoever.
I went with these Ringside ones since it has a bigger velcro area to stay in place compared to the Everlast ones my gym gave me.
For gloves, when I started, I tried a few different gloves at the gym. Asked around and ended up with a Hayabusa 16oz gloves for everything training around $90. You don't have to buy a pair for every different session if you're starting out. I went with the 16oz since I was a beginner and wanted to have some extra padding and wrist support.
Opinions on this - https://www.amazon.com/Ringside-Kickboxing-Training-Sparring-Punching/dp/B00EZRUJRI?th=1&psc=1 vs this:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002XUHM88/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_4mmwBb311C284?th=1&psc=1
for my first pair of gloves?
Real talk: Hayabusa vs. Fairtex? I need a new pair of gloves that I'll use strictly for bag work and pads. I'm thinking either the Hayabusa T3 or the [Fairtex BGV9] (https://www.amazon.com/Fairtex-Boxing-gloves-Mexican-Style/dp/B00PAZW8IC/ref=sr_1_10?s=sports-and-fitness&srs=7678273011&ie=UTF8&qid=1532390372&sr=1-10&refinements=p_72%3A1248957011&th=1&psc=1#customerReviews), perhaps. I have thin wrist that hurt often, my fingers are long but the width of my hand is small. For reference, I'm 5'11, 160 lbs.
Since I stopped competing and my money is spent elsewhere, I have messed with a few different cheap options as I burn through them. Twins are a great option, but I found a lot of them were more geared towards Muay-Thai so they lacked real good wrist support.
Lately, I have been rocking a pair of Trideer 16oz Gloves. Was a shot in the dark but I liked the reviews so I went for it.
They have held up really nicely these last 6 months or so. The Gel they use seems pretty effective as it allows me to throw punches full force without worrying about my hands. I don’t ever feel it in my knuckles which is nice. Granted I am using the 16oz so that adds some good cushion.
I can wrap the velcro strap as tight as I want it and it feels solid (the strap is leather as well, and wraps around underneath your wrist, then comes back over to secure it). It is secured by Velcro so I could see the strap possibly becoming an issue over time, but the surface area to velcro it keeps it from ever coming undone so far. They also include a small grip bar in the palms that’s really subtle but works.
My only gripe about them was they felt a little big inside the glove for my relatively small hands, but now they fit like a glove which makes me think it’s at least half decent leather they’re using.
I had no idea what the hell Trideer is all about, or where they are based out of, but they have really impressed me and it is a genuine boxing glove. Shaped like one and feels like one. I’d recommend them to any beginner. Plus they look sharp.
Edit: whatever you end up choosing, like the gentleman up there said, as a beginner it’s really important to wrap your hands! Best of luck to you and I hope you have an awesome time learning the sport. There is truly nothing else like it.
HELP ME ! Hello everyone, First of all thanks for your time. I am going to start boxing/muay thai next week and was told I need 16oz boxing gloves, and hand wraps. I read through the wiki here and have decided on the wraps . I have also looked through all the gloves and can't decide which gloves to buy because I see increases in price but don't know what to look for to see an increase in quality. The cheapest ones there were these boxing gloves but am willing to pay more if it is necessary/worth it. If it helps I am 6'1, 195lbs. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help you help me ! Thank you ! Sol
I saw the Adidas ones but I wasn't sure about how different the grip was and if I can still get the high ones like they have for boxing. I was looking for something like this but in orange:
I don't know if they are the same, but I have a pair of these. They are OK starter gloves IMO. Upside: Cheap, and they work for bags and mitts if you are punching properly and not too hard. Downsides: They have little in the form of wrist support and are relatively compressed in the knuckle. I replaced them with these which have a double-wrap around the wrist for extra support.
EDIT: Just to clarify, I have the Regenesis in 14oz.
Off-topic and first post/comment in this sub, I bought RDX wraps Are these sufficient for protecting my wrists? I havent bought a bag yet and just use a door frame to have some report for my punches, really just exercising and trying to teach myself stuff. I don't punch hard yet, more volume and focus on feeling and form.
