You could pay it with Revolut or TransferWise.
If you got a yellow cheque with a QR code you could also try this app.
As others have said, don't exchange too much money at the airport because they will rip you off. You should get at least 300 forints per euro, and some places will give you 200 which means they rip off 1/3 of your money!
I recommend you go to this restaurant and order a Cigány pecsenye or a Kárpáti borzacska (check google what these are). That is authentic and delicious Hungarian food and relatively cheap. Also try their wine. You can go there with the 4-6 tram.
There's an app you can use to buy the tickets with your card so you won't have to use cash. It's called MobilJegy and it's on Google Play. I use it all the time instead of paper tickets. It's in English, too.
If you mean this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hu.gov.eeszt.mgw.app.allampolgari&hl=en&gl=US as far as I know, you still need both an Ugyfelkapu registration (obtained at govt/district offices) and a TAJ number. So your best shot might still be the plastic card.
But I think the EU-compatible vaccine cert can be printed out by doctors and government/district offices as well, whichever you have access to.
I try to provide a useful answer since this comment section got out of hand... :)
I definitely recommend Kornel Esti by Dezso Kosztolanyi, a beautiful novella from fin-de-siécle Budapest, available on Kindle. Another one by Kosztolanyi is Skylark (one of Patti Smith's favourites), it a melancholic story from the Hungarian county about an unmarried, unattractive girl whose parents want to go on living a more exciting life than usual. It's actually pretty great (also available on Amazon, but on the pirate sit 3lib . net too)
You can read the Paul Street Boys, it's a great YA novel by Ferenc Molnar, classic Budapest feeling from the 20th century.
You can also read The White King by Gyorgy Dragoman, it's about a boy growing up in Transsylvania during the dictatorship. It's not a Budapest-specific novel but a great success recently.
My last recommendation in The Door by Magda Szabo, a not-so-long novel about an eccentric lady who lives very reclusively. The protagonist, who is an alterego to the novelist herself, slowly gains her trust. It's very nice and easy to read.
Pack some USB fans. Get some neck cooling wraps. Use public transportation and travel underground by Metro when possible.
Take cold showers, don't towel dry, make use of evaporative cooling.
Eat spicy foods to maximize sweating and evaporative cooling. Works in Mexico.
Stay hydrated.
Comme Chez Soi is a relatively small restaurant with an amazing cozy atmosphere and excellent service. We're students in Budapest and we always try to make at least one stop here every semester. If you like goose liver, ask for his foie gras in tokaji. Absolutely stunning!
As others already mentioned the subway is not operational at 3 am. The BKK futár app can help you with your planning. Also I would recommend to get a taxi. Compared to other countries taxis are relatively cheap. Depending on where you are the taxi from the city will cost you about 15 - 20 €
I take it you've never heard of airBnB?
edit: so take a look at this screen-shot
Anything near the two clearly visible bridges is going to be a safe bet. It seems to be near some nice areas of Budapest. I've highlighted the $80 suite to give you a good idea of nice locations.
There should be a lot of walking streets(streets exclusively for foot traffic) nearby. Those streets are generally lined with restaurants, ice-cream shops, book stores, and bars. The closer to the danube you are and taller the building your suite is in, the higher the chance you're going to have scenic view of the the western half of Budapest(referred to as Buda). That view is beautiful.
If you see those two straddlers near the top of the screenshot (30 and 28) Those are already decidedly distant from the epicenter of what I consider to be the cool touristy areas of Budapest.
If you are a student then there is a good chance that you can install the software on university license.
In case you aren't a student and can't afford the Adobe software, I kindly insist you to try some free alternatives. Perhaps Krita would meet your needs?
I really do not want to play the software police, just want to insist the morale, that the world will not be a better place if people are stealing stuff.
At first get a revolut, if you use my link, you will get a small amount of huf. Then you can deposit 200£ freely in every EU country monthly. But if you don’t want to go really small shops and bars, you don’t really need any cash.
Thanks for the answer... I'm not sure if I'd love to have your weather app to be so optimistic, or point you to any random weather website that tells you it's gonna rain for at least a week 😞

The puppy is still too small and needs to do its 3rd vaccination recall so I don't think it's a great idea to make her get soaking wet. It's okay if we just need to walk for potty needs, but she also needs to run, play, etc.
I've heard good things about a Hotel called Centrooms House.
I've actually got friends arriving Monday and they've booked an "apartment" within there. I've read on various forums and tripadvisior etc that it is clean and tidy and also cheap. Maybe give that a try? I just checked on lastminute.com and you can get a twin room in there (it'll be more for the apartment) for about 92 EUR for the whole stay (my friends booked it on that site).
There is also a hostel called "Grund" which I've heard is good if you need an even cheaper place to lay your head.
I don't have any affiliation with either place and I've never stayed in either of them, so do your own research before booking (even though I've been looking through all of this stuff for them over the past few days). Don't blame me if they suck :)
Are you sure you were using the EEST app?
The other one is to check if the QR on the digital or physical card is valid. As Daell, pointed out this is the app you need: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hu.gov.eeszt.mgw.app.allampolgari
Make sure you are using this one.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hu.gov.eeszt.mgw.app.allampolgari&hl=en&gl=US
To make this work, you have to pair your mobile app with this https://www.eeszt.gov.hu/mobilalkalmazasok site. If you haven't made your reservation for your jab on this site - and probably you can't even login - then you have to wait for your physical card. So you either have to login (to get to your QR code) or you have to have your physical card which also has the required QR code.
There's a Kindle version for $12.69, I don't think someone would digitize it for you for less than that.
Hey,
I always tend to order the stuff of amazon germany. The shipping takes a little bit longer (1 week) but sometimes you have some good prices because of it. The go pro black is actually now on sale there:
Someone marked this as spam. I'm undecided on the issue, because the LikeLocals account is obviously not just some guy/gal, but the posts are themselves pretty high quality, there isn't any distracting ad on the blog. However it's clear that this is a blog for some app/venture ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.likelocals - made by Digital Natives Zrt a local developer company, there are allegedly two founders somewhere (Gabriella and Constantinos), but not a world from them anywhere, there's no "team" page, and the contact page is just a form).

So, for the time being let's just wait this out.
You can buy it online with this application. But if you buy it from a machine it will be validated on the bus so you can buy it in advance.
If you are into history or just want to find out what something is and why it is there I find Pocket Guide good. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hu.pocketguide It will try and sell tours and extra guides to you but has good base data.
