The Fed's authority right now (and the reason why Ron Paul has gone from extremist to making a lot of sense) should be to control interest rates and maintain a stable and steady money supply growth. QE1/QE2, and the various LTRO operations by the ECB and all shady practices therein have demonstrated that Central Bank power is much more than just setting interest rates, and this is pretty dangerous.
So it's not so much "End the Fed" circlejerking as it is "The Fed has over-reached it's mandate and should go back to setting interest rates like it's supposed to".

It doesn't work how you're thinking it does. It's normal in the vast majority of non-depressed individuals, and, while the effect can be mostly tempered by a persistent awareness of it, it's not possible to eliminate.
To put in in other words: It's really a fundamental feeling that can't be changed, but can be observed given some small effort.
I'm not familiar with other people's usual thoughts, but I imagine that if you developed a curiosity like the one you described, by yourself, then you don't have anything to worry about in the intelligence department. Trust me, constant connection of the most abstract ideas is not always enjoyable.
I highly recommend the book Predictably Irrational, by Dan Ariely.

Actually, this is another case of homonym confusion. Political libertarianism / liberalism is not the same as philosophical libertarianism / classical liberalism, but I haven't the time to explain it at present. If you're much of a reader, pick up Liberalism by Von Mises, The Road to Serfdom by Hayek, Capitalism and Freedom by Friedman, Anarchy, State and Utopia by Nozick, and finally Illiberal Libertarianism by Freeman. Then you'll have a good understanding.
Also, Ron Paul isn't really a libertarian, it's just the sort-of next-best label we can put on him. He's really just a republican with even crazier ideologies.
