I use Jack of All Dominion on my phone:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.minusik.apps.jackofalldominion&hl=en_US
I don't know exactly how it determines how many events (or the other card types you mentioned), but it does not always have 2. It sometimes has none, one, or two. My guess is that it uses the method mentioned in the rule book.
I found this while digging through Amazon. Hopefully this should be enough!
I thought briefly about trying to integrate it with the Google+ hangout API but not very seriously; it's not clear to me if that can work with apps on outside servers.
What are you talking about?
Most chess games end in resignation and no one cries about it.
You can buy "linear"? Bearings that are in a ring with circular housing for these type of applications called "lazy susan hardware" https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071CPFM95/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_b4OSFbN5BYDVJ
The cards come out very easy due to the thumb slots I added. The only trouble is the last card, which kindof adds suspense when you finish a pile, so I don't mind it. However if you have fingernails, it's not a problem at all.
Funny enough, I just posted pics of my Dominion binder on G+ here. I used a 4-inch zipper binder I got off of Amazon - link. What's not included in my binder are the base cards, which I keep separately for various reasons, but I believe that they could fit in there easily. It's just that loading and unloading pockets and pockets of coppers might be a bit of a pain in the long run.
The one I've been using (for Android) ever since it came out about 2 months or so is Jack of All Dominion. It has pretty much every feature I'd want from a Dominion app - all expansions, lots of options for setting up the game in semi-non-standard ways including Veto, quickly shuffling out an unwanted card and getting a replacement, forcing various rules such as including X cards from a certain expansion or with a certain cost bracket, and a few other options like the Alchemy and Event recommendations that can be adjusted. It also allows you to check what cards do, has a built in VP tracker (if you want to use that) and includes all the recommended sets. And it looks clean and well polished.
You can do the top part twice - everything above the line. That's what happens when you "play" the card. Below the line is what happens when you "call" the card, which is not playing it, and the KC or TR would already be long gone at that point.
Edit: from Donald himself: https://boardgamegeek.com/article/19086442#19086442
I went with the same box, though I store the cards horizontally. (I am envious of the spice container for tokens!) I used this for the slip cases, which organizes them by expansion, and alternates tabs left-right. I use DominionKD to generate random kingdoms, and it organizes the results by expansion, so it's easy to quickly find the cards. I left the palette in, and store the mats in ziploc bags over it.
I currently have both sets of base cards, from Base and Intrigue, but once the new expansion comes out, I will have to pare down to a single set of base cards. We've only used both sets on one occasion, so I don't fear we'll be missing the second set much. If they have another expansion after this, I don't know what I'll do. :/
I ordered these for my entire collection.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QC2FTBV?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details
after sleeving every card I only had a single sleeve break and that was my fault.
I use these (long amazon link) or something similar. It's great becuase you unscrew the one you need and then you just have a container to pick the tokens from. (Credit AdamHorton for the idea)
Kingdom Shuffler for Android gives you a lot of control over them.
EDIT: You can set a range for how many events/landmarks/projects you want collectively and individually. For example, I have it configured to allow 0-3 collectively and 0-2 individually, so up to 3 total, but no more than 2 of any one type.
OP we are of the same mind!! I love player interaction and some Dominion kingdoms can be a bit lacking. I'll agree with many others that Dark Ages, Adventures, and Empires have the most player interaction, but they're also the most challenging expansions to learn and master.
My own personal solution is to have my randomizer app include at least one card with player interaction every game. To do this, I use Jack of All Dominion on Android, where you have the option to "star" certain cards. I've starred all 79 cards which involve some form of player interaction. I tell the randomizer to use at least one of my "starred" cards each game.
If you like, I can paste the whole list of cards with player interaction. Here are the # of interacting cards per expansion:
Intrigue -- 8 (1st + 2nd edition)
Nocturne -- 8
Promo cards -- 3
Prosperity -- 8
Seaside -- 6

>Currently all printing has stopped and we are expecting this to be fixed, such that newly-printed cards are indistinguishable from older printings.
Take a look at this:
https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/920733/very-nice-binder-storage-solution-large-dominion-c
I'm currently plotting to do something similar myself. Seems like it'd work really great for me.
https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/894203/why-does-processioning-duration-card-keep-processi
Logically, I agree that it's weird that a trashed duration card would still have effects on following turns. But the above thread has probably the best explanation from Donald about how Procession affects duration cards: >>The FAQ for Procession says that processioning duration cards keeps the procession card out until next turn... I'm not sure I understand why that's necessary (and almost feels wrong, I'll explain why).
>It's for tracking. If you play Wharf, then you have to remember that next turn you're supposed to get +2 Cards +1 Buy. If you Throne Room a Wharf, you have to remember that next turn you twice get +2 Cards +1 Buy. So the rules have the Throne Room (and King's Court and Procession) stay out as a reminder. If you Procession a Wharf, you do get +2 Cards +1 Buy twice on your next turn. Even though Wharf is trashed. This is because what Wharf does, it does now; Wharf when played causes you to get +2 Cards +1 Buy next turn, and once set in motion that effect doesn't care what happens to the Wharf card.
This could be a cheap and dirty way to go.
Make a list of all the cards, then randomize them, then pick the first 12-15 cards (depending on how many players) then veto them as needed.
Save the list in a word document so that you dont have to retype it every time.
Since Empires I've actually stopped using the Hobby Lobby case and moved to a canvas case I found on Amazon.
I cut a dry erase board and put it in the bottom for added structure, added some 1/2 inch thick speaker foam top and bottom for a little padding and found some basic 3200 card storage boxes that, with a little modification, fit nicely inside. I also replaced the shoulder strap and the d-rings it connected to because they had plastic components.
It's bigger and more cumbersome than the Hobby Lobby box, but it holds all expansions, with all components, and has plenty of room for future expansions. I also have no fear that it's going to pop open and spill all of my cards on the ground like the Hobby Lobby box can.
EDIT - I've posted some additional info about this solution, along with pictures, over at f.ds.
That listing isn't shipped or sold by Amazon like the other in-stock expansions are and the shipping is $14. I think there will be better offers available.
https://www.amazon.ca/Rio-Grande-Games-481RIO-Expansion/dp/B008GRI010/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1497307074&sr=8-6&keywords=dark+ages Similarly, is it wishful thinking to expect this item to actually restock and ship soon? It's strange that Dark Ages is being listed in Canada for less than half the price of the listing on Amazon.com.
I used these generic ones off amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B000Y4HI7A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_nQR3Eb7FPP1B9
But I recently came across these and have been wanting to try them out: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07QC2FTBV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_RRR3Eb83HMVCX
Here's a link to the Amazon listing for the soft case Adam mentioned in his article. It's no longer available on either Amazon or the Cases by Source site, but you can see its dimensions, which are very similar to those of Adam's case.
You realise how good Dominion is when you start randomising the game. Apps like Jack of all Dominion are great because you can even "lock" cards which you like; you can keep randomising until you get your perfect kingdom setup.
I'll link my storage solution because maybe someone will get some use out of it ( /u/TLan718 ?) but I'm not sure it will be a great fit for you.
http://adamhorton.com/flog/dominion-storage/
On the other hand, one of the components I use (the cardboard boxes) may work just fine for your needs:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000K41E6K/
You might not need to order these exact boxes from Amazon. Most local game stores will sell you similar boxes of varying sizes for pretty cheap so this may work out better for you.
I would recommend buying the update pack for Intrigue as a replacement if you don't have 2nd edition yet. It has the replacement for the somewhat lackluster Secret Chamber, which is Diplomat.
For the Tournament prizes, unless you can find a loose set on Ebay or somewhere, you'll either have to shell out for a new copy of Mixed Box or use 3 blank cards.
https://www.amazon.com/Rio-Grande-Games-Dominion-Cards/dp/B007MKLX84
Get that. We play with 5-6 people a few times a year when our friends come visit. We're all very committed Dominion players so the game is pretty serious / intense! And yes, very fun with attack cards...
I tried them, but found them difficult to read. I like ❻ better than ⑥ or ⓺ or ➏, but there's only 1-10 for that size... Ultimately I thought 6◯ was easiest to read, and easier to copy/paste. I could be convinced otherwise if people feel strongly one way or another, though.
In the future, there's a Large Yellow Circle emoji coming which would be perfect, but it'll take years before it's commonplace.

iOS beta is full unfortunately, but hopefully the release will be shortly.
Well, Potions are already in the "base cards" box you can buy to make any expansion work without the base game.
Sounds like you’ve got your issue taken care of, but I shall add that I just bought an extra pack of those Dominion base cards for $15, because I wanted to have 15 Provinces and Colonies (and 50 Curse cards) for 5- to 6-player games, and now I’m glad I have a bunch of extra Treasure cards in case any get lost/damaged.
I have definitely had games where the Platina sell out. Don’t listen to the people who say not to worry about it. You have good game-impacting reason to be “OCD” about it.
Do you already have the full-art base cards, and enough for a 6 player game? If not, this could be a great time to buy the Base Card pack:
I put these sleeves on my cards. The only cards that don’t fit into the original slot are the treasure cards and curse cards. I just have to keep some in the middle between the two rows. Not that big of a deal. Everything else fits fine.
I don't speak German but I saw these while browsing today: https://smile.amazon.com/Rio-Grande-Games-Expansion-Dominion/dp/B09HR2Z62B/ref=sr\_1\_1?crid=8V873ERCYD6Q&keywords=dominion+allies&qid=1645811749&sprefix=dominion+allie%2Caps%2C122&sr=8-1
I've had my Dominion cards in these sleeves for years and would never use anything else:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/158994514X (Fantasy Flight Games)
The thing that stopped me from buying thicker sleeves is I still wanted to be able to store the cards in the organizer since I don’t have many expansions yet.
Otherwise I would have gone with something thicker.
For what it’s worth, here is what I have on my cards. Not sure if these are popular or not here. Still relatively new to this game & community.
I randomize using all expansions. And include all landscape cards but there can be only 2 of them at maximum.
I recommend to use apps or websites. I personally use this one on Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.AppsForEverything.DominionRandomizer
Super handy and easy randomizer with card images and even functional Black Market!!
I bought the official one for the German release, which has 2 inlays for this and another box to store up to 3k cards, the dividing cards for all released cards, all 11 promos, a set of base cards and a bag for the tokens (which is neat I guess?). Sadly the copy I got 3 days ago doesn't have the dividing cards for Hinterlands, Renaissance and the Promos. A real bummer. But in and of itself, it's a cool product.
Do you play chess and/or go? Having played both games at high ranks and having talked to other players at high ranks, we all agree that very few games boil down to time controls (except chess endgame).
For most amateur players, unless you are at a very high ranking (i.e. past 2000 ELO), mistakes are generally reading errors, NOT time errors. So no, I don't think this is a valid point (for an introductory discussion to this topic, see: https://www.chess.com/article/view/longer-time-controls-are-more-instructive).
The bigger principle for not undoing a move in chess/go doesn't have to do with time (I'm not talking about bullet chess which is essentially useless for improving skill anyway), but as an established tradition of accepting mistakes and moving on. Also, misclicks happen in chess too, even under long games. However, you can never undo a misclick in a chess game, even if you have all the time in the world. Hence my point is: Players who are arguing chess/go have time constraints are missing the point or are not chess/go players. If you want to have a different culture for your game (i.e. online Dominion), fine. I think the decision ultimately boils down to the community and what the community wants. But to pretend like competitive Dominion is somehow vastly different from chess or go, in its competitive nature, is a fallacy.
If you want dominion art on the back there was a kickstarter recently for custom art sleeves: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/divingdragongames/your-art-card-sleeves
If you don't care about the art on the back, probably look into sleeves for MtG. KMC, UltraPro and DragonShield are all good names with respective fanbases claiming each is the best. I'm personally a fan of UltraPro Matte sleeves. They are not completely opaque and so are not tournament legal if using double-sided cards. It shouldn't be a problem with unevenly worn cards though.
These are pretty affordable. At 3.6 cents a sleeve and 4200 cards it will cost $154

On a serious note: I see 2 left in stock on Amazon:
[https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CKRSDLT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1](This) is the one I use, similar to the one you just replied to but has a lot of moveable velcro dividers which is nice for cards.
By a total coincidence, I just started reading this book on the Salem witchcraft crisis, where the term "familiar" came up in the first chapter. Of course this isn't the most common reading material, but the word is out there.
Do a majority of players know the term? I dunno. There's a lot of overlap between board game fans and RPG fans, so maybe or maybe not. I don't know if DXV is into RPGs but I know he's played a lot of Magic, so I'm not surprised he's at least heard it.
I just got the box and dividers off of Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000K41E7E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_4WANF1YP64R44WWPK8QH?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005LIF20O?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

This is what the OP is looking for: https://www.amazon.com/Rio-Grande-Games-Dominion-Update/dp/B01LYX2F3R

I've been hunting for it too at a reasonable price, but it seems to be out of stock everywhere. Used to be around $13 back when Amazon had it in early 2018.
Here's the page on Amazon (German only) for those interested: https://www.amazon.de/Rio-Grande-Games-22501421-Dominion-Sammler-Box/dp/B081KCVDY9/
Includes:
Pretty neat - it'd be neat if they sold something like this in the US - especially after the next expansion comes out this Spring.
Try this one out: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.minusik.apps.jackofalldominion&gl=DE
includes like 90% what the page offers you but a few more other things like minimum of attacks or cantrips etc.
Just be sure you're getting what you intend with the "2nd edition basic card". There are two possible interpretations of that. The base Dominion box (as seen here https://www.amazon.ca/Rio-Grande-Games-Dominion-Board/dp/B01LYLIS2U/ref=sr_1_7?crid=35GJSO5PFP96S&dchild=1&keywords=dominion+2nd+edition&qid=1601651782&sprefix=dominion+2nd%2Caps%2C191&sr=8-7) is the starter set that comes with all the treasures and victory and 25 kingdom cards you need to jump in and play. You'd largely only be able to get the 2nd edition in stores, which replaced a few cards with poor usage with better versions.
On the other hand, there is a smaller box of Base Cards (seen here https://www.amazon.ca/Rio-Grande-Games-Dominion-Cards/dp/B007MKLX84/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=dominion+basic+cards&qid=1601651813&sr=8-1) which only comes with the basic treasures and victory cards, which would require a different expansion to play with. So be sure you know what you're picking up.
I use an amazon basics ring binder (https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07D8P6L3W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_sbwhFb8JYABCF), with whole lot of trading card storage pages. You can fit about 10-15 dominion cards into each pouch, so can store a set of kingdom cards together - I have Dominion (1st ed), Intrigue (2nd ed) Seaside, Prosperity, Hinterlands & Dark Ages in one, which is now full, so you'd probable need 2 for everything. It has pockets & other storage to fit rulebooks and other pieces and it zips up to keep it all secure.
But you have to keep it flat, otherwise the weight of the cards bends the rings!
I'm not really a fan of the TCG game idea. I prefer games where everybody starts at exactly the same place (like Dominion). My brother and his sons play MTG and they spend a fortune on cards, and it never ends.
As far as the wear on the cards...it's probably just as cheap to just buy a new set of base cards (currently $12.29 on Amazon) once a year. It comes with replacement Gold, Silver, Copper, Estate, Duchy, Province, and Curse cards, as well as Platinum, Colony, and Potions. Also it comes with a nice Trash card which is regular sized and much preferred over the stupid 7x4 Trash mat that comes with Dominion base (2nd edition)
This isn't a knock-off, it's published by Rio Grande Games and even links to their website. Here's the link to the Amazon product:
https://www.amazon.com/Rio-Grande-Games-Dominion-Prosperity/dp/B003YXZB22
It's currently in the next print run and will be released by February.
My favorite expansion is Dark Ages, but Intrigue, Seaside, or Prosperity are also all good picks for your first expansion. I'd look on the Dominion wiki for the list of cards to see which one you'd think you'd like best.
> Also, if I want to play this game with 5-6 people, do I need another version of the base game?
You need additional base cards, which you can buy by themselves.
This is what I got. I'm guess that's the same as yours? I don't have access to my sets right now, but I've played 6 games with adventures cards and I don't remember noticing any differences in card quality. I'm guessing I would have been able to tell with the coppers/estates mixed into the deck etc.
Heres a link to where I got it.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TF7YMVW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

On the reviews it warned about poor card quality. On the box it said made in the us and from the little research I've done online it says that its because the first copy was made by hasbro and has worse quality
Is this what you're looking for?

Just bought some of these and I like them. Though they do have a little bubble on the front.
(600x) Ultra PRO Black Deck Protectors Sleeves Standard MTG Colors https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HNJ9SRM/ref=cm_sw_r_fm_apa_aJr3Bb2DMBPTZ
Yeah, that's where I preordered it from. I emailed them a week ago and they didn't respond about it. :/
It's on Amazon.ca finally from a third party seller for $61 + $10 shipping though.
I see everyone here doesn't like to play with 5+, when I have to agree it makes for better games to split up to 2 and 3, you should try yourself anyway.
And for that you need another set of the base-cards(can be bought alone like this , or through buying 1st edition Intrigue) . I will recommend buying the base cards itself because, the 1st edition of Intrigue isn't that great in comparison with other expansions.
When you have the extra base cards, and if you don't want to split your group the extra rules is like this:
Instead of 12 Provinces, you play with 15 for 5, and 18 for 6. All other victory cards are the same number(except the starting estates which ofc is three more). And the game is over when any four supply piles are empty, or the provinces are empty as usual.
Remember to also add 10 extra curses for each extra player, and add all the extra money from the base cards.
New cards in Dominion: Artisan, Bandit, Harbinger, Merchant, Poacher, Sentry, Vassal
Removed cards from Dominion: Adventurer, Chancellor, Feast, Spy, Thief, Woodcutter

Seems like the $26 would save you a lot of trouble.
Are you sleeved or unsleeved? If you're unsleeved, I'd suggest looking into the binder as another option. I use this binder and these pages to store the base game, Prosperity, Alchemy, Empires, and the 2nd edition updated cards, and there's room for at least 4 more expansions.
Check this thread.
I'd say Intrigue Second Edition is a safe enough choice.
Same token storage tins in a 6 pack for cheaper: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00S70QIJM
I use them as well, they work great.
edit: I use the six tins for 1VP, 2VP, 5VP, Coin, Embargo, Debt. I keep adventure tokens in small zip lock bags.
I bought This box along with 2k penny sleeves. The big box, doesn't quite take up one of the three columns. I still need to sleeve intrigue, which will probably take up the rest of the first column. I'm using index cards to sort the cards and finding what I need is super quick and easy.
I was using the Hobby Lobby box (just Google "dominion hobby lobby box" if you aren't familiar), but it wouldn't have been big enough for Empires.
So, I just recently got this case and two 3200 card cardboard storage boxes that fit it length-wise (15 in). I had to cut 1 of the 4 rows off one of the boxes and then they fit perfectly width-wise (22 in). I also added some some foam padding on top and bottom for protection.
This solution fits everything currently available, has room for Empires coming out in May and has plenty of room for any additional expansions that may get released.
The regular base set is just called Dominion. This is a fully playable game, and the cards have the simplest mechanics, so it is good for getting started.
Dominion: Intrigue is an expansion, but it comes with all of the base cards (coins, victory point cards, and curses) necessary to play the game, so it can be used as a standalone game or an expansion for the base game.
All of the other expansions require you to already have the base cards. However, you can actually buy the base cards separately, and buy an expansion that doesn't have them, if you really don't want to buy one of the two sets that includes them. You'll then need to download the basic rules online, since the rules for each of the expansions just describes the rules for that expansion.
I think the best options for starting out would be just getting Dominion, or maybe that plus one or two expansions, or getting Dominion Big Box which includes the base set and two expansions (Prosperity and Seaside). You could also just start out with Dominion: Intrigue if you wanted.
Dominion is best with 2 players, but I think it works well for 3 and 4 players as well. It's definitely a lighter, more random game with 4 players, while you can really get into the strategy with 2 players; both are fine, depending on what you're looking for. If you combine Dominion and Dominion: Intrigue (or add an extra set of base cards) you could play with up to 6 players in a single game, but I think it would really start to drag at that point. Better to just play two 3-player games instead.
/u/r2d8 getinfo long
I'm using this with a bunch of Ultra-Pro card binders. It's very snug, but it fits everything, sleeved, although I don't own Cornucopia or any promos. I've got a second binder in reserve for those.
I have the entire everything sleeved (all sets). When you play a lot, it's worth it. After LOTS AND LOTS of use, I don't have any complaints other than you will definitely be side shuffling and you may occasionally have one tear. Also, because of printing issues with the Adventures set, I think when it's time to upgrade I'll switch to a solid color backed instead of clear sleeves. Just my two cents.
It depends on whether you have sleeves or not. With the sleeves, they won't fit properly and shuffle properly in 90% of shufflers.
Without the sleeves, you will need a hand-crank shuffler to prevent(/minimize) damage to the cards, and it will take a couple times through to shuffle. With the ten cards you start the game with, it's pretty much useless, it takes too much effort for 2 seconds of shuffling. I also recommend placing a marble on top of the two piles of cards you're shuffling together to have a bit of weight to make sure the shuffler grabs all the cards; the marbles just roll right off the cards, making it a simple solution to the only issue, which was pretty minor anyway.
This is the one I have. My dad and I both have one because we like it so much
If you want to consolidate, you can always get this binder: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001GIP208/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have all of the sets in there pretty nicely, and then I just carry around the Base Set Cards in their box. I have my cards arranged by expansion and then alphabetically. When the next expansion comes out, I think I'm going to arrange them alphabetically across the board for the sake of simplicity (and give people who don't know the sets as well as I do the ability to find things more easily).
Here is one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ca.marklauman.dominionpicker
