Critical score inflation for games is pretty ridiculous. Three out of four stars would be considered a solid endorsement for a film or book, but it's equivalent to "not very good" for a game. Why? It's accepted, for other mediums, that individual taste accounts for much of one's enjoyment of the artwork. If an individual reviewer gives a film 2 stars out of 4, he's saying "I didn't much enjoy this film." But if a game reviewer gives a game a 50 out of 100, he's understood to be saying "this game is bad." Again, why? Why is there no acknowledgment of differing tastes? It's not acceptable to rate a game that you hated, but that someone else might enjoy, with a 2/10, but film critics do this all the damn time without compunction.

Honestly, I'm afraid the process is too ingrained to change at this point. It would require nothing short of a simultaneous pact among game journalists, who are themselves a large part of the problem.
I'm not sure about the last four years, but they have been losing money over the last two or three. Still, that isn't as uncommon as it might seem for companies that are growing (or attempting to grow) almost always see red on their financials for a while. EA, for its part, is making serious moves to dominate the gaming market and digital distribution channels, all of which takes some serious money to accomplish.
In any case, the company has roughly 5 billion in assets and 2.5 billion in liabilities. So, the PopCap purchase is significant but isn't so large as to be either impractical or impossible for EA to manage. Analysts are undoubtedly concerned about how well PopCap will be integrated and managed by EA over the coming years. Given EA's history, however, I'd suggest that the PopCap has seen its best days.
Check out Xenonauts. I love the first two X-Com games like no others, and have played every knock-off since. Xenonauts seems to me like it has the potential to fill the original X-Com's boots.
So someone went to Metacritic, looked at the "Top Games" list, filtered out the games that weren't released in October (inaccurately filtered, might I add) and made a blog about it -- why is noteworthy?
Give Ni No Kuni a look., sounds like you would like it. I grew up with FF and I am in love. I wish Square would make this shit.
It's the RPG I have been waiting for since FFX forced the series into a linear pattern. I love FFX dearly, but I can see how it set the tone for the games that followed.
FFIX was the perfect Final Fantasy game IMO--from a purist's view that is. VII is still my favorite
I've heard it described as "a simpler and prettier version of Dwarf Fortress," which isn't saying much in either regard.
Also going to urge people to be mindful of the consumer response to Towns on metacritic.

To celebrate exactly ten years since the initial release of Braid on August 6, 2008, I am putting out a big new mod called “Braid: More Now Than Ever”. The original game’s time-bending mechanics are further explored via a curated compilation of over 60 of the most surprising, cunning, and elegant puzzles from multiple fan mods (“After the Epilogue”, “Silverbraid”, “Stone”, and “Tim's Modysee”), plus many completely original levels! All-new writing continues the story of Tim and the Princess, paying homage to Braid’s complex structure and themes while also introducing fresh images and new directions.
Diablo 3 is rated 16+ and M(17+) according to this page: https://www.igdb.com/games/diablo-iii/age_rating . With ratings like that, it is not unimaginable that the sequel would be rated 18+ even. Is it rated 12+ in your country?
"English-speaking RPG fans and Studio Ghibli enthusiasts alike can now breathe a sigh of relief, as Ninokuni: Shiroki Seihai no Joou (subtitled "Queen of the White Ashes") for the PS3 has been confirmed for a North American debut in early 2012."
Yeah I honestly don't mind banner ads and some pre-roll ads (if the video is long enough to justify it). I don't even mind the occasional mid-roll ad if it is cut into the video properly. But, if they keep on the way they are then I'm just going to keep on using adblock for the wider Youtube and just disable it for channels that I watch regularly. (For anyone who wants to know how to do this, simply install Grease Monkey and this script: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/4168-youtube-whitelist-channels-in-adblock-plus)
Orb Shifter is a Shmup based around the polarity mechanic also seen in games such as Ikaruga and Kyotokei. Players can absorb enemy attacks of the same color as their shield and must alternate between red and blue in order to survive.

Don't get caught in the hype of the headline - it's misleading. The bans of these games wasn't in response to the children's suicides nor in retaliation to the Blue Whale game. (Source: https://thenextweb.com/gaming/2018/07/17/saudi-arabia-bans-popular-games/)
Although there is a conversation to be had regarding the Blue Whale game, it's an outdated one. This game was an issue across Europe in 2016 where a psychopath (and subsequently copycat psychopaths) would instruct children over a Russian social media website to self-harm - ultimately convincing them to commit suicide.
This issue wasn't ever gaming related but definitely raises questions as to how much guidance the youth of today need when it comes to social media and the internet in general.
They also did some very smarmy tactics to make a buck wherever they could.
This quote pretty much summed it up:
>I knew that i wanted to control my destiny, so I knew I needed revenues, right, fucking, now. Like I needed revenues now. So I funded the company myself but I did every horrible thing in the book to, just to get revenues right away. I mean we gave our users poker chips if they downloaded this zwinky toolbar which was like, I dont know, I downloaded it once and couldn’t get rid of it. laughs We did anything possible just to just get revenues so that we could grow and be a real business…So control your destiny. So that was a big lesson, controlling your business. So by the time we raised money we were profitable.

Dumping scamware all over your users systems and giving a direct tunnel to data theft and misuse of information is never forgivable. So, I haven't. Trying to say that you are sorry after you win means nothing. You don't sell your soul to the devil and ask for it back after selling out other people for a moneygrab.
Too bad most people can't hold a point of conviction for more than a month at most.
I didn't look closely i just saw railroad and figured that maybe they meant a railroad car in slang.
Out of the two games you mentioned, one isn't out on PC yet (and may or may not have a beta when it is).
Ultimately, though, I don't think betas aren't as good as demos. If a company offers an open beta it's only going to cover the multiplayer gameplay, and it's going to be shut down when the game comes out, which kinda sucks for anyone that hears about it a week later and wants to see if they'll like it.
Here's a very recent example, a forum I'm a member of had a thread about Zachtronics Spacechem, which has a demo. If I were to look the game up on youtube I would probably think... nothing because I wouldn't know what the hell I was looking at, instead I've been playing it all day because after playing the demo I bought the game.
Making a demo for Spacechem earned him at least 20.00 that there's no way he would have got otherwise, and I'm damn sure he has made more then that, and will continue to make more, solely because there's a demo. it's also why I bought Arkham Asylum on day 1 (for the PC).
Demos are awesome, betas are ok, neither kinda sucks.

IIRC that's the link that I used to fix it. It took A LOT of tweaking the screws to get it to work (adjusting how tight the heat sinks were pulling on the chips). Once in a while (maybe every 2-3 months) it would stop working again and I would have to re-adjust the screws. The most recent time it stopped working I just decided to buy a new one. It got me an extra year or so of use out of my system (until the new slim systems came out and came down in price a bit).
On a side note, there's no guarantee this will work. I had leftover parts from my fix and we tried to do it to my buddy's system w/ no luck. Then again he was impatient and didn't want to deal with adjusting the screws for a long time so we gave up on his fairly quick.
Hmm, I did a hdd speed test on my external drive using majorgeek's HD Speed and read at 29MB/s.
I wonder if that will be fast enough for all the texture loading in the game.
While it is streaming the game. The software is running on google's stadia servers powered by linux. So the game is already developed to run on Linux+vulkan.
I think that greatly increases the chances for the games to be released on Linux since its already running on Linux for Statia.

Simple controls using swipes.
There are two modes in the game:
"Classic" mode to train logic. The player must think a few steps ahead before every swipe to reach the exit with a limited number of moves (from 4 to 10) each quantity of moves has 50 unique levels.
"Explorer" mode to train memory as the player sees no obstacles at the beginning of each level. Therefore, first he must explore the labyrinth, find and remember many different wrong routes and find the only one correct way to escape. To play this mode open Modes -> Explorer
All your feedback and suggestions are extremely important for me. Hope to discuss any of them bellow ;)
Having more uses for a bleeding edge drive that's not commonplace drives demand UP not DOWN.
The only 2230 1TB NVMe drive I know of that's easy to get is inside: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0855C4FR9/
Yeah, they snuck in that drive for about what it costs if you try to find it on your own. EVIL Microsoft!
Vita didn't come with sufficient storage to install games. The Vita card was a necessity. This is not. You can easily get by until the prices are what you're willing to pay.

I can recommend BADLAND. Best mobile game I've played. Easy to learn, hard as fuck to master. Gorgeous level design and hours of playing. Can be played for 2 minutes on the dump or for half an hour. Starts fast, saves often, runs smoothly. Gets the most out of simple controls (touch anywhere, don't touch anywhere, that's it). Loved it.
