It introduced my husband and me to dal, and they have become a staple at our house.

You used cold eggs?
I let them come to room temp in a tap water bath before putting them in & usually make 18 at a time with my OXO racks.
I bought these OXO brushes when I bought my Instant Pot.
The thing I use most is a 7 cup Pyrex dish with lid. It fits perfectly in the 6Q, and it fits 2 cups of rice cooked. With the lid, it can go right into the fridge.

Been trying out different tapioca pearls. Today's batch: (no flavor FYI, but good in my smoothie!)
Tried 2 methods:
The colander method had a better chew but was pretty sticky; I had to separate the pearls by hand. The PIP method took longer, but they didn't stick together. I was able to drain & rinse with cold water to lower the temperature quickly. 5 minutes was not enough (QPR) but 10 minutes was a tad too long, so I'll try 8 minutes next time.
Avocado trick: (saw it on TikTok lol)

I ordered a kit on Amazon and it came with it. It seems really expensive now, I got it on sale for $20 I think.
It's a danish aebelskiver (little round puffy pancake balls, usually filled with a chunk of apple). Japanese folks use a similar one called takoyaki.
You can find old Griswold or Wagner ones too. Got mine at a yard sale $1. They pop up at thrift stores now and then too.
Here is a Norpro knock-off of my Danish pan

If you don't already have a vacuum sealer I highly recommend getting one. I made instant pot carnitas a month or so back and they were phenomenal. Also ran into the problem of having too many leftovers. I used the vacuum sealer and turned them into lunch packs so I can have tacos at work and it worked amazing!

I just did quick Google search and found a place called Rice N' Spice about 25 mins away from Kannapolis...I can almost guarantee they'll have a decent brand basmati rice given the pictures of what they offer on the Google search. But if that doesn't work out, you can spend a little extra and get this brand off Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Daawat-Ultima-Extra-Basmati-2-Years/dp/B072L475FM/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=basmati+rice&qid=1573584072&sr=8-8

It's a 10 lb bag, so certainly a lot of rice...but keeps quite long and you can use basmati in a number of other dishes, and it can actually be a fun gift for any of your friends or family who like to cook :)
I use the slow cooker function simply because the IP is so much easier to clean than my crock pot. I purchased a lid ( https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Instant-Pot-Tempered-Glass/dp/B008FUJ2LK/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=instant+pot+lid&qid=1560527352&s=gateway&sr=8-3 ) from Amazon to use in this case. I didn't think I'd use mine that often, but I find I use it two to three times per week.
Recipe is mostly one from YouTube I will add.
Dried the ribs with a paper towel and threw on some regular seasoning but not sure if it did anything. Salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder.
I cut the rack in half place on silicone trivit with handles. Used apple juice as the liquid. I used about 6 cups because I had some juice that didn't taste good I wanted to use up.
Set for 32 minutes via the manual button.
After cooked I transfered to a baking sheet and brushed on BBQ sauce. I used sweet baby rays. Then broiled for 5 minutes.
YouTube video I didn't follow it to the letter. https://youtu.be/LYxQSt58zmA
This is what I set the ribs on just incase they fell apart. They didn't I probably could have cooked another minute or so longer.

I'd never seen such a basket before this post, but some browsing on Amazon turned up this one that looks very nice for a couple reasons:
The only one I've bought so far is this one from the butter chicken lady. If you like Indian food it's a good buy and some, if not all, of the recipes are on her website if you want to check them out first. I hadn't even attempted Indian food up until the butter chicken. Great recipe even if you skip on the book. At under $10 though, it was a quick purchase for me. Everything we've tried has been good and straightforward to cook.
After trying her butter chicken, her cookbook was pretty much an instant buy on Amazon for around $8. Some other great recipes in there also. They may be all on the website, but I haven't verified.
I used this silicon insert from amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076V9C817/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It was super easy, just put everything in a blender, bacon bits on the bottom (of the cups), fill the cups and cover with foil. Steam setting for 9 minutes and natural release for 10. Was super easy and I made my wife do it (she never cooks), which would explain why mine are a bit "overflowing", because she filled to the tip. I asked if she would make it again in the future and she said it was pretty easy and she would.
This strainer looks pretty neat. I saw a post about someone saying it's great for bone broth.
I've seen a few videos with people using a springform pan which is pretty cool too.

How 'cooled' was it?
You're generally not supposed to stir your yogurt at all until it's COMPLETELY chilled through. Like 6+ hours in the fridge.
Otherwise - you could get a yogurt strainer if you like it thicker!
The only physical cookbook I've picked up so far is the Indian Instant Pot Cookbook by Urvashi Pitre. I've only made a couple of the recipes so far, including this Butter Chicken, which I think is the same one from the book, but they were both great. The Butter Chicken was super easy also and even the kids loved it. Plus at like $8, it's not an expensive book.
Why are you adding any salt to stock, period, but especially at the start of cooking?
Stock often doesn't have any salt when it's made because that greatly limits how you can use it for sauce reductions, which will concentrate the salt to unacceptable levels. Adding salt is delayed as long as possible in the recipe as a final seasoning step to avoid oversalting and ruining the whole dish.
Here are two examples that use no salt.
https://www.seriouseats.com/pressure-cooker-chicken-stock-recipe
Absolutely! But, I think that you have a Steam Release Handle and not a Steam Release Valve.
The apparent difference is that the Steam Release Handle is asymmetrical with a handle protrusion that has to point to vent or seal. This is because it uses a ramp underneath to tilt it between the two positions.
The steam release valve, on the other hand, is symmetrical and instead relies on a lever in the lid, which either tilts it to release steam or not to allow it to rest level on the steam pipe, thereby sealing it.
This is a rhetorical question, but why would you use a shortened Amazon link to hide your spam affiliate link, when you can make the link say whatever you want right in Reddit?
Non-affiliate link for people: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M188L3L
I have several steamer baskets of various kinds. The official Instant Pot silicone one sold on Amazon is the best I've tried. The long handles sit above the hot rim of the pot, which is easier to access without burning my hands. The handles lock together to avoid the lid when cooking. It strains well, cleans well, and stores easily.
I have tried the quick cooking boba and feel it is just as satisfying. I think I’ll make one now. I buy from my Asian market but this looks like the one I buy. Not a recommendation or endorsement.
I recently replaced the steam release valve, pop up pin and seal on mine. Made such a huge difference! The seals get old and don't work as well.
Depending on your model, you may need a different version of these parts.
Edit: new link for your IP: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07V1QQPXY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_8EHSZDHKR1XJK3W73E4P
Unfortunately I’m not in the same place as it right now. However, this is it. Please note that these links are all for my 3qt Instant Pot Mini.
Inside the IP, there is a tiffin/steamer pan set, sort of like this one. I bring the steamer pan & only one of the solid pans. The latter is good for reheating stuff & also makes a decent cake pan.
The top container has an IP silicone lid for the inner liner, the IP “trivet”, the blue sealing ring (the red one is already in the IP, measuring cup & spoons, spatula, wire whisk, the IP mini silicone mitts.
Weird things I can make with this setup:
— Cornbread, using the solid tiffin pan. The texture is not what you get from an oven, it’s moist & dense.
— Banana bread, also in the solid pan. I actually prefer making it in the IP instead of an oven.
— Iced tea concentrate (in the IP liner).
— Scrambled eggs, in the bottom of the liner using the Sauté function.
— In a 6qt or larger IP, popcorn. (The 3qt Mini doesn’t get hot enough to reliably pop the kernels.)
(Edited to reformat, grrrr.)

This one was recommended when I bought my instant pot off of amazon so I included it on a whim, and everything I’ve made from it has been really good! I like how it helps you learn the different features of the pot too, by generally including a few of them in each recipe.
No need to thank them; posts such as these almost always use a referral link so that they get a commission. You can tell because they always give the percentage discount without stating the actual price.

You can individually package your leftovers into meals with none of that dried out freezer burn of the past. Not to mention reseal most all bags of chips, nuts, dried fruits.
I found a neat tip for when you need to cut a lot of hard boiled eggs at once: pushing them through a metal cooling rack like this one*.
I'd imagine combining your method of multiple eggs "hard boiled" in a bowl and then pressing that loaf through the cooling rack could be really fast.
*I have no opinion on this particular cooling rack. It was just the first link I found to use as an example.
Sometimes I'll prep everything, throw it all into the IP inner pot, then put on this silicone lid and throw it in the fridge. Then it's ready to cook as soon as I get home from work.

This is not nearly as good a deal as Walmart had a few weeks ago.
I never use my slow cooker/s now that I have an Instant Pot. All the same foods and dishes can be cooked in the IP as a slow cooker but much-much faster (and even from frozen--really handy and time-saving), and they usually turn out even better because the flavors from the ingredients are being forced into each other and more deeply than when slow cooking.
The IP will also do more things than a slow cooker (which is a one-function appliance).
It can also function as a rice cooker, boil eggs (with shells that easily slip off), make yogurt (if a 7-in-1 model), make cheesecake and dulce de leche and even breads and lasagna, as well as make cook, soups, chicken stock, individual veggies including whole potatoes/squashes, etc, much more quickly. And if sauteing is needed, it can be done right in the pot on its Saute mode (and a lot more I can't even think of at the moment).
I also like it because it seals completely so I'm not smelling the food cooking all day, it's easier and lighter-weight to clean, easy to operate and can be left completely alone after the initial steps, will automatically switch to a Keep Warm mode if no one is home or does anything to the unit to change that, it's well built so lasts, has a stainless steel pot (rather than a non-stick coated one), etc, etc.
If she wants to check out the breadth of things she can make and do with an IP (and also ask questions if she wants), you should have her join the largest Instant Pot group, called "Instant Pot Community," at Facebook (she can just read the group if not a Facebook member) and also read some of the 15,000 glowing reviews at amazon:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/InstantPotCommunity
https://www.amazon.com/Instant-Pot-IP-DUO60-Multi-Functional-Pressure/dp/B00FLYWNYQ
Interesting. I have a lot of Monoprice cables and they're definitely good bang for buck. I'd personally still wait a while and see what reviewers say before buying an appliance from them since that's rather a different animal than a cheap cable or adapter. I'd be interested in the vacuum sealer depending on the price point.
This Monoprice/Strata Home pressure cooker most closely competes with InstantPot IP-LUX, not to be confused with the IP Duo or higher tiers. The LUX (currently in its 3rd iteration) is $79 on Amazon already so not sure I'd risk an unproven model to save ten bucks, but that's just me.
I would have expected MP to price more competitively since that's their whole thing, but maybe it'll drop down after launch. If not, might just be that electric pressure cookers are already pretty good value (which I kind of suspect, apart from the shiny Breville one).
Something to keep an eye on though! Interesting find.
If you pans fit in between, egg racks can double as stacking tools.
Yeah that should fix it. I bought a 3 pack of the rings on amazon for like $10 and swap it out every time I use it, throwing the used one in the dishwasher. I never have to worry about the leftover smells anymore.
Edit: here’s what I bought https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XVYMFLV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6xtGCbX2J1SD2
I never heard of that cartoon... but the way I understand it is that malfalda pasta is the short version of malfaldine...

I basically only use it for drying really hot peppers or making beef jerky (all on dehydrate). Haven't used it on any other setting. While it is pretty small with the pot and rack that comes with the lid, someone once posted this rack to help expand the exposed surface area. Not perfect, but it works.
We do different dals almost every week in my house. I would recommend this cookbook if that interests you.
Not quite the same ones but Amazon has many varieties
I ordered a Mealthy Multipot from Amazon last year and had it shipped here to Thailand. Almost forgot about the voltage difference, but before it arrived I realized and ended up ordering a heavy duty, good quality voltage converter. Like others have suggested, you don't want a cheap one as they can possibly fail. Here is the one I bought:
UMI 220V to 110V Step Down Voltage Converter 1200Watts Continuous Full Load Capacity https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078GS87N1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Cxq6Cb1AW1BRT
A bit pricey, but totally worth it.
I saw this in paperback today at Target, nestled among 4 other instant pot cookbooks. Any meat recipe that isn't dry heat works in a pressure cooker, you Google abstaining walnut. https://www.amazon.com/dp/198482239X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_tcIIBbHRSA1N5
You might have to buy a stainless steel pan that goes inside the IP (the official IP company sells this accessory: https://www.amazon.com/Instant-Pot-Stainless-Official-Compatible/dp/B082VTZJ29 ) and transfer the meal from the tray into the stainless steel pan and put it on a trivet inside the insert, add 1 cup water to the base of the insert, steam for 2 minutes on high pressure. I reheat leftovers like this all the time.
Because overall, people VERY rarely use them. Say for each $18 someone pays in, maybe $2 goes to paying a claim. The rest is profit for this insurance company.
http://www.consumerreports.org/shopping/dont-buy-extended-warranties/
Edit: if it gives you peace of mind, then get it. It's only $18. I'm speaking from a purely mathematical point of view. Protection plans and extended warranties are nearly all profit for the company selling them. You'd be out a whole lot of money if you bought them on all your purchases. I never buy them, and would use the money saved to just buy myself a new instant Pot if it broke.
I’ll just leave this here

Need a special large bore straw like this.
This is not an endorsement or recommendation. Strictly for illustration only.
We bought this one. To be clear, we have a DuoCrisp, but I can't imagine it wouldn't fit in the ProCrisp as long as the insert is 6 or 8 quart. We haven't used it as a dehydrator yet (we bought it to increase our air fryer capacity), but when we did use it, we took out the air fryer basket (it doesn't fit inside the air fryer basket, so we went with what seemed right based on that) and used the dehydrator rack by itself in the stainless insert. I'd assume you do the same using it as a dehydrator rack.
I came here to recommend Two Sleevers also! I agree that the butter chicken is one of my favorite instant pot recipes. I was reading about the founder of the site and she has a cookbook of traditional Indian dishes written for the instant pot!

Sooo many delicious recipes, pictures of just about every step, teaches you how to use the IP while you cook.
Hi, random internet advice about canker sores so ignore if unwanted: switch to a sodium lauryl sulfate (sls) free toothpaste. There have been multiple studies like this one that shows “period. The results showed a statistically significant decrease in the number of aphthous ulcers from 14.3 after using the SLS-containing dentifrice to 5.1 ulcers after brushing with the SLS-free dentifrice (p < 0.05).. It really makes a difference to me.
It’s hard to find one that also has fluoride but I normally use the Whole Foods fluoride toothpaste

The exact ones I got aren't listed any more though, I have black + white ones.
Gurley if you have a 6 qt IP, this pan is what you need - it's great for their cheesecake, and u/ophelia917 is correct - it's wonderful! I also use this pan to make lasagna in the IP.
I love this OXO Sling that I got at Target. It's really nice if you're doing any pot in pot cooking. Or if your pot has a sous vide function, I put this in first to easily lift out whatever I'm cooking. I also have these stacking pans which are great. Though the handle thing isn't great which is why I got the sling. I decided against one of the kits because I didn't want a bunch of extra stuff I wouldn't use. Besides those two accessories I have a silicone lid so I can just toss my inner pot in the fridge with leftovers and a few extra sealing rings.
Are you referring to something like this? I use it for cooking chicken in one and salmon in the other when we want different things for dinner. HTH.

That said the correct response is to purchase a second instant pot or a third - I currently have a 3qt, 6qt, and 8 qt for this. I have stackable steamers but because different things cook at different rates and steamers modify how long things need to cook - I prefer using multiple instant pots instead :)

This thing. There's a few different brands but as near as I can tell they're exactly the same. Heavy thing too. I don't know what it would be on Korean Amazon but you're looking for a 'step down voltage converter' in English. There's smaller profile ones too but given the resistors involved in making the magic happen, I'm not sure how reliable they are.
Induction countertop stoves are really cheap anymore, you might do that instead if you've got a pot that will work with it. This is the first one to come up on Amazon, and its only 50 bucks https://www.amazon.com/Duxtop-8100MC-Portable-Induction-Countertop/dp/B0045QEPYM/
I have this. I didn't realize that it was for the 3 quart until just now when I went to copy the link. I had excitedly bought it on a lightning deal without reading any of the fine print (that's how I ended up in the Army 40 years ago, too; some people never learn). It is available in sizes specific for the 6 and 8, though. While it can be a little harder to clean than other steamers, with one of those standard scrub brushes for dishes, it's not too hard. It's a great size for mashed potatoes for 2-3. The silicone legs serve as a trivet, I toss peeled and halved potatoes to fill the basket, add a cup and a half of water, cook, and when it's done it's got a great silicone handle to pull out and dump into a bowl for mixing. I haven't even had to drain the potatoes after I've let them NPR for a bit.
I tend to toss the basket itself into the IP and fill with sudsy water, but that's because I'm lazy and want to keep the taters from hardening up in the nooks and crannies.

what u/harleyquinn1234 said. its basically a fryer, but instead of regular deep frying with oil, it fries stuff with hot air convections. and the lid works on most 6qt IPs. i bought it from amazon https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07VF7J5VQ
I purchased this one from Amazon. It works very well:

Oh, and just remembered: someone recommended to me to just get the Instant Pot 3 qt. pot for pot-in-pot cooking. They have the 6 qt. model and it works just fine for them. I have the 8 qt. so I imagine it would work just as well for me.
Triglycerides can sometimes be momentarily elevated. If someone who usually has healthy levels gets a blood test after a weekend of heavy drinking, they might be high. Or after a rather excessive Sunday dinner. I once tested normal for cholesterol, but high for triglycerides the day after a half marathon and a post-race meal of fries, burgers, and beers. A month later, my levels were normal, and have been normal in the tests since then.
It's still a good idea to start eating healthier, but another test not too far in the future might also Play store link: Boost for redditbe a good idea before you worry too much about this, especially if your cholesterol and blood sugar were fine.
I add ground flaxseed to my daily bowl of oatmeal. Its not really noticeable in the taste or texture but adds health benefits and is very cheap.
You just need a new steam release handle / knob / piece. The same one is used on Duo Nova, Duo Plus, Viva, Ultra, maybe others. Same one is also used on 3 /6/ 8 qt models. And the generic ones should work fine. I've bought a few on ebay and Amazon. Sometimes you can get 2 of the generics for less than what IP wants for one. https://www.amazon.com/Release-Pressure-Instant-Programmable-Zonefly/dp/B07J51ZN7F/ref=sr_1_7That's the correct one if your lid has the pushbutton steam release.
Both of y'all should probably get metal cooling racks and just leave them on top of your stoves unless actually using said stove.
I use these pans for cheesecake in the instant pot. No need to deal with the spring form latch.
I bought something like this (but not this one exactly). I put the rice in one compartment and soaked beans in the other and it works fine for me.

While others lament the limited portions, I consider it a feature. Limits the portion sizes and helps prevent overindulging!
> Other stuff I need to buy to use it?
Consider getting something like these to help lift the top rack out.
Amazon sells all the liners. No the 6 qt would not work in the 8.

dont know the model, but that looks ancient, going to have to saute on the stove I think, maybe keep an eye on sales and get a newer one, I got this one for $101.69 in December 2019
I use 80/20 ground beef because it's fattier & tastes better (I keep the juice from it too & pour it into the IP, so don't drain it out!). The silking technique is really great & I HIGHLY recommend it! Heavy cream is the easiest to use for that process because it's liquid & stirs in more easily. Side note, I do a lot of ground beef (chili, tacos, burritos, etc.) & have a great little chopper tool:
Anyway, as far as additional meat chunks go, I typically will do something like a 3-day chuck roast or London broil, something cheap & tasty, but that I can tenderize using sous-vide (you can get an Inkbird wand for like $79 these days, or some of the newer Instapots even do sous-vide now). Not a requirement, but if you like meat, chunky chili, it's a pretty awesome way to go!
Again, looks like a big huge process with a zillion ingredients, but it's really just brown the meat, cook in the IP, and stir in flavorings after cooking until you love the flavor!
One thing that will help a lot is after you cool it down and before you add your starter, skim off the film at the top. That will help make it a little more creamy.

We have this strainer and it works great: https://www.amazon.com/Euro-Cuisine-GY50-Greek-Yogurt/dp/B0091XNL0I
I don’t have a particular one that I use anymore. In college, when I used to do this, I had small cheap plastic hotpot that I used to boil ramen noodles. That said, did a quick search on Amazon and here’s a small one that would work and has good reviews:

They come in all sizes so any hotpot that can reach the boil point should work.

I got the cookbook (and instant pot) for xmas!
I used an official instant pot steamer basket. Some of the reviews posted that they used it for their air fryer lid (which kinda makes sense if you think about how the Mealthy works).

This book was gifted to me when I got my instant pot and it was a game changer!
There are so many great recipes in this and it does a wonderful job teaching you how to use the instant pot and its functions. There are also a number of dishes that would meet what you are looking for.
From the book, I highly recommend the no-stir polenta with chanterelle mushrooms, the lamb stew, and the turkey chili!
Oh there's so many other sets they're all generic. You get like 100 things for $35 lol search "instant pot accessories" on amazon and you'll see a bunch of sets

Lol it's part of a set I got on amazon. I got it for this strainer specifically but it's cool it also came with the egg holder and cheesecake pan, amongst 100 other cheap things

I realized this recipe might sound kind of snobby insisting you have to use Hatch Green Chile when it isn’t always easy to come by, if at all depending on your region.
u/bouncingdeadcats kicked my brain into gear.
Not sure if this is against the rules of the sub, but 505 Southwestern is a great brand of Hatch.
