My suggestion is to buy a portable AC. They're not super expensive ($300 for a unit that can cool 400 ft^2 ), you can set it up in 3 minutes, and it'll save your sanity if your AC goes out.
We bought ours in July 2015. We had a newborn who had just gotten out of the NICU when the house flooded. It knocked out the AC and bathrooms for 2 weeks. It was awful but the portable AC made it livable.
We used it again last month when our AC went out multiple times. (The old owner did some very against-the-book things and wrecked multiple components).
It just lowered to category 3 for 8 AM Friday and now it's barely gonna be hitting Orlando if at all. A little disappointing tbh, but still great news nonetheless.

You can get them from Amazon for even cheaper, but led lanterns are even better. I have these and they work remarkably well.
Don't forget!
If you have an Alexa enabled device, you can always ask her if they are on sale!

I don't know why you are getting so many downvotes. Here is a picture of a 12x12x6 bag
It seems like you can feet a lot of stuff in that bag.
Assuming you searched this subreddit for your answer (Doubtful)... Here is a link to find how the weather was in Orlando in the past because I'm sure you googled it too...
Long story short: Born in Florida, here till I was 3. Wisked away and raised in the Midwest till early adulthood. Moved back to Florida in 1999. Regardless of your definition of "rain" I'd always heard if you're windshield wipers are on, you're required by law to have your headlights on. (this could be a myth but if so it's a good one).
Edit: Found the source citations at the bottom, linked to PDF
>Florida statute 316.217 stipulates a vehicle must have its headlights on between twilight and dusk. Headlights must be on during the time between sunset and sunrise, with no exceptions. There is a windshield wiper law in effect for headlight use. When the windshield wipers are on, the headlights must be on. Rain, fog, smoke or mist conditions require headlights be turned on.

If you're in the downtown-ish area, I recommend eating at Pom Pom's Teahouse and Sandwicheria and Dandelion CommuniTea Cafe. Both places have a great atmosphere to boot.
Pom Pom's has excellent sandwiches (i.e. Thanksgiving; smoked salmon with capers and cream cheese, brie and fresh berries).
Dandelion is also for the bohemian set. Everything is vegetarian and/or vegan, but you won't miss the meat. Right now they have a sweet potato and quinoa burrito that is absolutely off the chain. Like Pom Pom's they also have a great selection of tea and unique beers.
The best Thai food in Orlando is at Sea Thai. The location is in a tiny strip mall, but the food regularly gets the Orlando Sentinel's top awards year after year. The soft shell crabs are great, and so is the lychee salmon.
For night life, my new favorite place is [blank space]. I personally hate clubs and most of the downtown club scene. But this place is a craft brew bar built inside an art gallery. And the craziest part of all is that if you can strike up a conversation at a normal speaking volume.
I have a couple of friends who work at OLV. It's another restaurant, but Wedneday nights are Art Night. Painters show up, both on canvas and on bodies. It's a classy joint for food and wine.
Drive to Winter Park. Walk down Park Avenue. There's wine bars and boutiques and Turkish food and gourmet chocolate makers. You don't need plan. Just find walk around and you'll find cool stuff. My wife and I took our engagement photos there.
Let's see... there's the Orlando Science Center, Lake Eola, Loch Haven Park, and the Lowdes/Orlando Shakespeare Theater.
Too many locals will bitch and moan about there not being anything to do in this city. Those people just don't have any imagination. We're a worldwide tourist destination for a reason.
Enjoy!
Not really -- Private Internet Access works up to about 100 Mbps. While this is definitely a bottleneck on a 1 Gbps connection, it is still considerably faster than the broadband connections in use by the majority of Americans. Either way, bandwidth is getting cheaper and cheaper, and I would honestly be surprised if PIA and the like don't start offering gigabit pipes in the next few years, especially in light of the fact that gigabit connections are becoming more popular.
Not exactly a spa, but I recommend you get her a massage from Park Lake Health & Wellness and a 60-minute float from Total Zen Float for right after. Perfect combo. I've never seen my wife so relaxed. Grand total: $49.
I did my first two years at Valencia, then went to UCF and got my B.S., then back to UCF to get my M.S., so don't let anyone tell you community college is bunk.
The best campus is whichever one is closest to you, unless you're going for a certain program (like how the West Campus specializes in nursing and engineering, East Campus does film, not for sure about the others). I rather liked Osceola, though, as it was a small campus with lots of parking, it wasn't too crowded, and it was fairly easy to get into your desired classes.
Spend awhile before class registration begins to figure out what classes you need/want to take for the upcoming semester, the professors you'd like to take for those (use ratemyprofessors and myedu to figure out the ones best for you), and a general weekly schedule (I alternated campuses throughout the week so I wouldn't have to drive from one class to another). If you try to figure all of this out the day of registration like everyone else does, you're probably going to end up with a horrible schedule and not-so-good professors. If your registration time is at 5:30am, it's worth it to wake up that early to register for all your classes and then go back to bed, as classes will fill up in a very short period of time.
Rock your GPA the first semester or two and then get into the honor society Phi Theta Kappa. I was only minimally involved during my two years at Valencia and ended up with a few transfer scholarships to UCF. Wish I had been more involved as they go to different conventions across the country, students are completely paid for.
Things may have changed a bit since I was last there 6 years ago, but I bet most things are the same. Please let me know if you have any specific questions about anything!
Run smoke ping because it'll generate graphs and you can start talking to tech support every week/month about 'down time' or 'service interruptions' to start getting credits. You'll also have these logs for when your issue finally gets escalated.
At my last place I ended up getting about 3 months free because of 'service interruptions'.
If you have Firefox or Chrome any of the javascript blocker plugins will usually do the trick, or at the very least get rid of the absolute worst of the modal windows, popups, auto-play videos, and other garbage they seem intent on smearing all over their page.
I wouldn't mind one or two ads here and there but all of the local TV and newspaper websites in the United States are atrociously over-burdened with ads and popups. I don't know who's teaching user experience and design to the folks maintaining these pages but they need to be tried for war crimes and violating the Geneva Conventions.
BTW for the nincompoops suggesting that OP just pay the $1, paying that doesn't get rid of all the ads.
I wish I could block the sentinel from my router settings. gonna look into it. as an alternative for important weather alerts - MyRadar is a great app, sends out instant NWS alerts. I've gotten all the tornado warnings timely tonight from them. the radar map shows a pink overlay of the tornado warning alert, and tapping on it gives you the full text of the NWS alert. it's pretty perfect as far as radar / weather alert apps go.
and BONUS - this company is based out of Orlando! noticed their office was next to mine after seeing a bus wrapped in a MyRadar ad parked there and looked it up.

This is the one and only correct answer. I would like to piggyback on this to mention that using a VPN will totally fix this problem. Not to shill for a specific company, but Private Internet Access is $40/year, and is fast enough that it it is basically transparent (the only exception is for gaming -- it does necessarily add 100-200 ms latency). On top of making Youtube not suck balls, it can definitely help protect your privacy, and it is a nice way to force net neutrality from the end user perspective (all your ISP sees is encrypted traffic to and from PIA, so they have no way of throttling a connection to Netflix or Youtube).

Maybe not local, but I love my 4k 55 inch Roku. Amazon link. I bought one for our gaming room, and less than a day after installing it my wife said that she loved it and we needed to get another one for the living room. We just bought our third (the 32 inch) for a bedroom.
What is this "Cress" that's top-rated-on-the-same-level-as V&A's ...? Is it referring to Cress Restaurant in Deland (which I had never heard of before now, and isn't in Orlando...)? Or is it a mis-spelling of "Kress" ?? (which while is awesome, I don't know if it's quite on the same level as V&A's...)
If you find a place you like, call them and ask if they work with a furniture rental company, or have any suggestions. You may just need to do the apartment + a separate rental if no furnished places are available.
Also, AirBNB does monthly subletting as an option. You should look into that, too. https://www.airbnb.com/s/Orlando--FL--United-States/homes?checkin=2018-01-01&checkout=2018-04-01&allow_override%5B%5D=&s_tag=qEr1lS-q

This sounds like my grandparents. When they were here last we took them to Enzian for a movie. Next time, I'm thinking to take them on the Orlando Eye. I was also browsing Groupon for ideas and came across this hot air balloon ride and this museum and sculpture garden.
Out of curiosity, how did you like the boat tour? What kind of stuff do you see? I am considering buying passes as a gift but I've never been.
Hard Knocks near UCF. Here's a Groupon. I had a couple first dates here in college.
This groupon has been on and off for years. There's a new, better one which I just noticed last month which is actually better.
https://www.groupon.com/deals/dealflicks-85
If this one pops up again it was $13 for $20 credit on dealflicks. Dealflicks always offers $10 for 2 tickets at cobb, so theres no real reason to buy the 2 for $10 groupon deal OP listed.
So with the dealflicks groupon it brings the individial ticket price down to $3.25. Also the dealflick bucks don't expire

Putt Putt is great and there are tons. I've found that you can have do a walk around lake eola and then stop for dinner somewhere thats not too terribly expensive. There are movie theaters that are really nice all over. Since you live in Oveido, I'll link you to a comment I left someone who was looking for good secluded nature spots to take pictures. Oveido is right near some really awesome nature trails that no one really knows about, you'll find some great places to get away if you look a little bit!
Comment:
There are tons of realllly awesome places just around UCF area. On the corner of McCollough and Tanner rd (opposite of the 5/3 Bank) is a beautiful Part of the Econ Corridor Project. It's close, and a really cool walk. About a mile back and you'll hit the Econ river, which is a cool walk.
Same river but different park is the "Little Big Econ State Forest" In Oviedo. This is probably my favorite park, and the one I recommend most because of the accessibility to really cool spots just a few hundred yards from the car. And just a cool hiking spot in general. See here: https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Little+Big+Econ+State+Forest,+Geneva,+FL&hl=en&ll=28.680046,-81.138325&spn=0.044126,0.090637&sll=28.692244,-81.131287&sspn=0.088242,0.181274&oq=Little+big+econ&gl=us&hq=Little+Big+Econ...
Just north of that is the Black Hammock Trail, which will take you up to Lake Jessup. Wanna see some gators and cool swampy stuff? Go here. Very dense and lush. Probably wet though due to all the rain. I know that place retains water pretty well and doesn't dry super quick.
Hope this helps! : )

We have done a series of polls to help with this. I and some other users are slowly working on a more comprehensive wiki. We are always open to people doing their own write ups as well. I will be taking all of the information and compiling it into a new wiki page for people visiting the city once I have enough information.
This already exsists, and frankly is the a great place to start. I am also not even sure most people know about it. http://wikitravel.org/en/Orlando
Have you thought of ordering through Alibaba? I haven't had experience using them yet, but from what I'm seeing on their site, you could bulk order some notebooks for as low as .15 a piece. Perhaps another teacher with the same problem can join in. Anyway, PM me your paypal, and I can pitch in some.
Here is an example of a supplier from Alibaba. Might be worth looking into! http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/2014-cheap-price-composition-notebooks-bulk_1814208923.html
Get a bike. You will need it if you are adamant about not using a car. We have buses, but they are never, ever on time and don't go to all parts of town. Best bet is to stay more or less near the downtown area: Colonialtown, Thornton Park, Eola area, or the Audubon Park/Baldwin area, or the Lake Ivanhoe area, or College Park. Check it out on a map so you can see what's near certain spots. Google Map some of the places mentioned here if you like, to get a handle on where things are oriented. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g34515-s204/Orlando:Florida:Neighborhoods.html
You don't need a large LCD to change streams.
A simple solution would be to have "presets" as you do now. You could program these presets from a web interface on a regular computer, tablet, or phone.
In 2001 I purchased an Aiwa CDC-MP3. This deck allowed me to play MP3 off of a CD. This was unheard of at the time....it is now difficult to find a new cd deck that isn't able to play mp3.
It isn't that far fetched, or even close to unreasonable to think that most cars will be offered with internet connectivity of some sort within the next 5 years.

Use this link after midnight. At the least, I expect the Kissimmee store to change status. Maybe others.
I don't know the exact time to check or how reliable this is.
No. Check BB in store search after midnight to see where next. Kissimmee is tomorrow according to a rumor.
Earlier posts say lines have already started, see the inventory checker.
Before, all stores were unavailable and now millenia says instore only.
Is it possible for us to set up a donation site? Money won't fix the whole problem here, but it will at least give her a chance to get insurance, pay the fines, and reinstate her ID. Even if she finds a job, she is going to need some basic capital to take the bus to her job, get clothes, etc. I remember the generosity that poured forth when the video of the school bus monitor appeared on Reddit. Do you have a video of her explaining her situation? Maybe someone can use indiegogo to set up a page for her like they did for the school bus monitor.
I searched on indeed.com for you.
That's all I got. I've never heard of anyone needing a sysadmin. But you should be good, tech companies are prevalent around here.

Sorry about your bad luck :( Here's an article about used tires that you may want to consider. Also, whether you shop for new or used tires, you may want to be careful about which brand and model you choose. Hydroplaning resistance is very important in Florida (can mean the difference between life and death), and it that attribute can vary considerably between tires. I know it's only my anecdotal experience, but I can tell that the time I hydroplaned off the road (and could have been killed) was the time I put cheap tires on my car. Never again. They're one of the most critical things to "get right," since they're basically the interface between your car and the road. I recommend checking out reviews on Tire Rack.
When you say it isn't being read .... does the computer give an error when you insert it, doesn't recognize a device has been inserted or claims it needs to be formatted? Also, does the SD card work as expected when plugged into the device it is usually used in?
The first two may mean it is a physical failure and you'll be looking at spending some dollars to have a chance at getting the data back. If you go that route, make sure you go with a company which only expects payment if they succeed at retrieving your data. Also make sure it is spelled out what "success" is.
If the OS is claiming the device needs to be formatted, odds are the file system on the device became corrupted, but the data is likely still on the device.
In this case, I recommend downloading a utility called PhotoRec -- http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec. It will search the device for all the file types it recognizes and save them to your hard drive for you to review. PhotoRec has a Windows version, Linux version and OS X version available for download.
That sounds ridiculous!
Join your local Nextdoor.com neighborhood and community Facebook page. People are giving away kittens on mine all the time.
We got our kitties from the Seminole County Animal Shelter in October. One was nine months and the other eight years old but they had very young kittens there, too.

Trying to get a hold of this for a 5 year olds birthday on Friday. So I can’t wait on Amazon. I’ve looked at the Disney store in the Florida mall and Disney springs. Any last ideas on where to go in town before just giving up?
We have some batteries/solar (1-3 hours) but we usually only run it if we have an outlet to plug extension cord in to.

There's a tigerdirect store on OBT if you NEED IT TODAY. Otherwise, Amazon has one with Prime shipping too :D
EDIT: I posted a 4 pin link, updated to a 6 pin.
It's a bit late now, even if they are available with Amazon Prime. Look into the reusable bags. Don't kid yourself, plenty of places in Orlando flood. Especially when you could be talking about 12-16 inches of water over a day or two! (Ever tried to cross Bumby and Colonial after heavy rain? It takes a while to get where it needs to go.) Anyway, we bought these last year, and they helped keep us dry: https://www.amazon.com/Quick-Dam-Water-Activated-6-Pack/dp/B0085S0612

Yeah I got tired of that as well so I got this from Amazon. A little on the pricier side (compared to Wawa's free) and you could probably shop around for a different model but it inflates all my tires without the need of praying to RNGesus that Wawa's machine is working or getting the death stare from the guy behind me waiting to use it next lol.

Another point to add, is that every time you do a factory reset, you have to have it connected to itunes, which checks with Apple's database to see if its stolen. The guy at the apple store in your original comment probably had access to that database on site.
As for Android phones, a bunch of 3rd party providers (including Verizon, At&T, etc) have phone locators and remote memory wipe. There's also beefed up versions from independent parties like cerberus that have insane features to lock down your phone, and even survive a factory reset.
People would never admit it, but you're right. People need to educate themselves why minority communities in this country are too often left disenfranchised and poor- its from systemic racism.

You want a multidirectional outdoor antenna then. The kind you would see decades ago, they still look the same. Something like this: https://www.channelmaster.com/products/pro-model-uhf-vhf-tv-antenna-cm-1776 There are other brands and models but all should be similar. They are just big pieces of metal that pick up signals bouncing around out there.
They can go in your attic too if you don't want to mount them on the roof, just put it in the corner of the attic facing the stations that the map on the antennaweb site someone else linked.
Inside if you want to split it to multiple TVs you will want a powered signal booster/splitter. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Bi-Directional-Satellite-Amplifier-Splitter-Booster/dp/B0792P8SP1/
Run the antenna to that then find where your coax is already split in your house to all the rooms, unhook it from whatever cable stuff spectrum put up there, and run it into this thing and all your rooms will be lit up with the antenna signal.
Check the search map, you should be able to get dozens of stations, all the local networks, pbs, and non stop random religious stuff you had no idea existed
I really like their Amanda’s Cuban Espresso I love a dark, smoky, heavy, full-bodied espresso so I’m not sure what you prefer.

I would also recommend Torrid. Keep in mind though that a lot of retailers allow store returns of online purchases. Torrid is one of those places and local stores can be lacking in options which makes online ordering the way to go. Also Amazon is a great alternative, and easy returns... Costs a hundo but will last you for a very long time. You'll just replace what you use as needed from here: https://tftestkits.net/TFTestkits-Refills-c11/
On the TFP website register for the forums and hang out in the Just Getting Started section and everyone will have a lot of the same questions. They will also tell you to get this test kit before you can hope to be helped because if you don't know your numbers you can't be helped, which is true, otherwise you are just dumping things in blindly and then complaining your pool isnt clear and don't know why.
Is your pump variable speed or just on/off? Does it power a cleaning vacuum at all?
You can buy WiFi power meters that keep track of whatever appliance is plugged into them --- maybe try plugging your AC into one and track how much energy it's using in a week and then see if that jives with your power bill? It won't tell you where every penny is going, but it would be a good start.
Yeah it's like a "quick-and-dirty" alternative to soldering when you need something simple for a low-voltage application:

I use this and it seems to kill anything. Its the nasty cancer stuff. But if you use a sprayer you can spot spray it so you can kill just those and not the grass... I'm sure you know how. Anyway this kills everything for me.
This has made the FL heat so much more bearable to work in and I bought one of the cheapest ones. Just don’t forget to charge it.
It’s going to be a long hot summer, hope this helps.
Buy this, set up an account, and you're good to go.
Also, once they are on there, this stuff is excellent at removing them.
Fruit flys! I hate them ... Also could be fungus knats from your drain.
I have two solutions that work very well together, after dealing with this my whole life these are my tried and true:
Natural Catch Fruit Fly Traps-6 Traps https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0073YKY0W/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_FMJQF6BQGQJWRJKKRVEH?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Garsum Fruit Fly Sticky Trap for Indoor and Outdoor, Fungus Gnat Killer for Houseplant,Mosquitos, Flying Insect, White Flies, 12 Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZSC4CK1/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_V8CPB1J6D92ZQ72JWSCT?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Other fun fact: if you purchase a house plant they could be already living in it (babies, they breed at an alarming rate of hundreds per day!) and then infest your home ... I have had to put the sticky traps on all my plants even the orchids, when they start to become a problem. If you think it's from your drain they sell something for that too!
I bought the older model but Anker Roav was good:
Roav by Anker Dash Cam C2 Pro with FHD 1080p, Sony Starvis Sensor, 4-Lane Wide-Angle Lens, GPS Logging, Built-in Wi-Fi, Dedicated App, G-Sensor, WDR, Loop Recording, Night Mode(Renewed) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TPCVYMB/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_TB5FJ5266GEANYWZ2BSX
This one is really upgraded in the features. And $75? That's a great investment into protecting your asset (your car) from accidents, fraud, etc.
On this subject, on the subject of emergency refrigeration and packing up and leaving, make sure you find out what other new stuff exists.
I found this
Maybe there’s smaller fridges, portable freezers, travel medicine freezer, emergency backup fridge type of stuff.
Just a reminder, in case you have tunnel vision on the generator for the house for the kitchen fridge.
I've never been, but I've heard good things about ICE! at Gaylord Palms. I believe this year's theme is The Polar Express, and it looks like there is a groupon for it currently as well. https://www.groupon.com/deals/ice-featuring-the-polar-express-at-gaylord-palms-2019

Go to Disney Springs (free) and take a ride in the Characters in Flight balloon ($17.25 with coupon code SAVE). You can see Epcot, the castle, and a bunch of other landmarks.
Thank you for your response
Have you tried any of the following? If not, I suggest trying them in the order listed. Plugging cable into a different port on the router.
Tried this and it seems to be working quite well. BUT, in no way do I want to keep my laptop directly connected to any source as I prefer to be mobile.
Also, just want to point out: After concluding that the new port was working faster, I unplugged the CAT. 5E from my computer and the same slow Internet connection still greeted me.
Trying a different cable. You want to make sure it says "CAT-5" somewhere along it in little letters, or preferably "CAT-5e" or "CAT-6".
Doing a full reset on the router (some of them have a reset button you can hold down with pin or pen tip; should also be a way to do it from your computer).
Updating the router's firmware (from your computer).
Hope this helps, and thank you for your time.
You can call your local nurseries and ask for 3 milkweed species: Asclepias tuberosa (Butterfly Milkweed), Asclepias incarnata (Swamp Milkweed), and Asclepias curassavica (Tropical Milkweed)., but make sure they do not spray them, because caterpillars will get sick. Alternatively, you can also pledge on Kickstarter, and support the project, some rewards include organic milkweed plugs or mature plants.
I would not agree in the slightest that Narcoossee's is similar to Red Lobster. I do agree that the food is a bit overpriced, but the experience was nothing like going to a chain.

Hey. I don't have a kid's bicycle but I just searched "kids bicycle" on Facebook Marketplace and someone in Oviedo is selling bike parts at $1 and above. You might be interested. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/533788814210510/

I would like to see Mike Doughty. So much blast from the (90s) past with these bands, holy crap.
Zombietoberfest is also going on. More info on their Facebook event.
