You're right. I just downloaded version 2.0.14 and there appears to be a new objective to maintain your health bar at 30%. Anyone have any tips on how to avoid damage?
Edit: nm, just found a market selling health potion
> How has it worked out in-game?
Oh man, player created lore is the best. Let's see if I can pull up a few good bits...
Right, so one of the early players over in the {China} server did a lot of research and experimentation and came to the conclusion that all the constant PVP was draining a lot of resources that could have been better used on buying server upgrades and faction buffs. However he knew that all the powerful faction leaders didn't care because of how much they liked doing PVP.
So what this dude, Sun Tzu, did was he wrote an open source guide on how to do PVP properly. It's absolutely amazing, one of the best guides ever, and it's applicable to all kinds of PVP too, not just combat. Thing is, the way it's written means that anyone who actually goes through with the advice will only fight when they can win and not just for the hell of it. Since it's open source you can find lots of versions with comments from other really smart dudes as well, so it's kind of self updating like that.
The best part? Dude called his secretly pacifist manual "The Art of War". Goddamn brilliant.
If you're a newer player I would HIGHLY recommend going through the Outside wiki whenever you wonder about, well, anything really. It has absolutely tons of advice for advancing and explains much of the lore.
I just started this working on this perk a few days ago. So far it seems that the reward to time commitment ratio is quite high. Would recommend getting a tutorial plug-in to get started. Been using the Headspace tutorial myself.
ITT: People convinced that they all rolled higher than average INT.
Fun fact: Nearly everyone thinks they're average or above.
There are plenty, but they are all player organised and none has been endorsed by the devs. I guess it plays into their whole "open platform" ethos where the game is what the players make it. Seems kind of lazy to me but whatever.
You can find many different competitions in practically all the skill sets in the game, even the non-competitive ones like target practice. There are many speed run competitions where players compete to travel set distances on land, water, snow, ice, air, you name it. they can do it on foot or in vehicles depending on the rules of that competition. Search the game wiki and see what you find.
I found a cool cheat guide that can help you here. It's called "So Good They Can't Ignore You" by Cal Newport. It uses currency as a valuation metric, but shifts the focus squarely away from it. I may not align 100% with all the different cheats but it's a good guide to play the game with.
This guidebook was incredibly helpful for helping my now 7 month old daughter achieve uninterrupted rest for 12 hours straight since month 3. I daresay its meta-breaking and has made our playthrough much easier. Can't recommend this strat enough.
Well according to some humans, balance debuffs like sunburn and back pain are because humans are supposedly designed for another planet. It’s astoundingly stupid, but even intelligent people need a good laugh.
I think they sold out to Alpha&Omega corp. Still, I think we're being lucky. The demo version was really boring.
But we never learn, some are at it again
Michael g hopf - those who remain.
Never read the book just loved this quote so much go google it.
Never before have i seen such a quote eloquently sum up human history before.
I attached the book on amazon. Not affiliate marketing , just a guy who saw a quote that i liked enough to google and post

Nah, I don't know who you were talking to but the art-skill tree does require grinding and re-doing the same things over and over to get better. Like all fields there are some that make it look low-effort, but that's just not likely for most of us.
Reminds me of this comic: https://tapas.io/episode/923459
Do you mean the knowledge texts that up the skill? If so, I mean, I'm not saying it would be a good idea to do things that go against the laws in your player-region but COUGH COUGH /whisper there are methods.
Beyond that, yes, direct trading is extremely useful. Craiglist is a player-run auction house that most people know of. Another good place is Freecycle, which is an auction house with an emphasis on charging no gold; you merely trade direct items, rather than money, which can be useful on a tight budget.
> now if only there was a way to organize my internal skill tree and quest list
Habitica or SuperBetter perhaps.
There are lots of quest guides, from ones dedicated to an specific purpose (the "...For Dummies" series is definitely worth a read) all the way up to generalized hints and tips (Sun Tzu's "The Art of War"). The real problem is that the game is so open ended that even with guides, no quest is the same for any two people, and there are nearly infinite ways to approach every problem. Just too much material to cover.
Hey, Plasmablaster123, just a quick heads-up:
seperate is actually spelled separate. You can remember it by https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/separate.
Have a nice day!
If it's what I'm thinking of, it can help remove bee stingers (which do have the venom property) but wouldn't be effective against mosquito bites since those don't leave behind anything to extract.
So what you do is...
keep you base's door locked... this buys you critical seconds for set up.
Purchase online some stage blood.
get a window-blinds/mirror/security camera/door-peep-hole that will let you identify the other player without them realizing that you are looking at them.
When they knock on the door, strip completely naked and draw a pentagram in stage blood above your groin. (Best to practice this a few times ahead of time for best effect). Mess up your hair and rub your eyes so that they appear reddened.
Right before you answer the door, scream to your imaginary cult members: "The Summoning finally worked! Our Lord Satan has inhabited a corporeal body and is at the door ready for the Black Mass!"
Swing the door wide open with a flourish.... "Uh... Bob? Ummm, this isn't a good time... I'm sort of in the middle of something.... err... delicate. Could you come back in an hour, hour and a half? Maybe message ahead of arrival?"
Solves the problem every time.
acquire rare upgraded item
[PESTZILLA]
OP-AF
At Amazon. Item: “Melomania 1” by the guild Cambridge Audio. Here’s an in-game link to the item. Some people complain about connectivity issues, but mine have been pretty good to me. Works with your character’s left or right ear independently. Total battery life of both case and buds is ~45 in game hours, with ~9hrs per charge. This can be doubled by using one at a time.
Happy hunting, and have good luck and good fun!
Some very good in-game text I found, labeled "The Richest Man in Babylon", had some good advice:
> A man of action is favored by the goddess of good luck.
I guess that means you'll find your luck gets better if you are more active in the game versus putting in little effort in hopes of a bigger return on the time you invested.
They did the opposite in one place around here. A rural road was very hilly (basically a roller coaster) and ended in a downhill with a sharp turn at the base of the next hill. Well one night a car full of drunk/high teenagers were enjoying the roller coaster at high speeds and crashed headlong into the side of the hill. They all died and the county filled in the dip between hills and made the road connect straight into the main road so next time the car full of idiot kids will end up in a ditch on the other side of the highway, much less lethal.
https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=17/46.62829/-111.78780
Keir Road used to connect to the highway and Keir Drive, with a 90° sharp turn. You can see how they filled it in and made Keir Drive straight.
Intelligence is the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills. It comes from the Latin word 'intelligere' which means 'to understand'.
Wisdom is the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgement; the quality of being wise. It comes from 'wis', an old Germanic word.
So basically the difference is that
INT: (capability of) learning (new) things
WIS: knowing things
So most of the examples in this thread (knowing that tomato/Frankenstein/something is fruit/monster/something) refer to wisdom but not intelligence.
There are several minigames which are perfect for grinding the communication stat when transferring to a server that speaks a different language.
These minigames are called spaced repetition systems, and use a sophisticated algorithm to determine the best time to have you review a piece of information you've previously learned. My favorite of these is one called Anki.
Yeah I joined one of the scholar guilds for a year or so then quit, because the quests they were giving me were far too outdated.
Have a look at Microsoft and Amazon's guild certifications:
If you get one of each of these I think guilds will start to take you a lot more seriously.
Exercise can actually level up INT if you mix it with mental training and study. There are ways to get free tomes for cheap leveling. Game mechanics analysts think it has to do with growth factor release and hyperthermia increasing proliferation of synapses in your avatar's brain.
If you want to get things really going or have a special occasion, there are buffs. /r/Nootropics, Longecity, and other online communities are dedicated to the discussion of INT buffs. Be careful, though--serious INT buffing has a lot of complicated resource management minigames, and alters other stats.
At the end of the day, though, boosting your INT score is only useful if you know how to play a high-INT character, which many find to be a complicated build that isn't worth the hassle.
Try the minigame called 'geocaching'. It's basically a massive set of mini-quests everywhere around the game map. You can even trade loot through it.
Heck, if you pay for the premium version of the game (Yeah, they treat it like DLC -_-) you can even set up your own quests.
Your body is never burning 100% fat https://www.webmd.com/diet/news/20140529/fast-weight-loss-may-mean-muscle-loss . Fasting for longer periods of time is believed to have negative impact on the ratio. You might hear a recommended 2lbs a week tossed around. https://www.muscleandstrength.com/articles/rapid-fat-loss-muscle-mass
I'm planning on doing more exercise minigames, but struggling to find any fun ones. My favorite is [skateboarding], but it seems to be a seasonal minigame, and I don't have enough gold to try out [snowboarding]. I recently got a new accessory, [Fitbit Force], which will help me keep track of my [END] and [STR] experience.
Any tips on good winter exercise minigames, or any year-round exercise minigames?
The Africa map is so big that you have to be incredibly unlucky to end up in such a location, though. It's sad how much the Mercator projection has bent the global mind that even our general conversation and judgment is biased by it. See here for a nice size comparison tool: http://thetruesize.com
Classic Doom, particularly Complex Doom Invasion. The official server is Canadian, the developer is active and updates frequently, the gameplay is top tier and supports playstyles ranging from Troll to Team Player, the game [Doom 2] is $5, and it's often full of furries. So it's basically perfect. I would have joined Outside for this minigame alone.
Happy first cakeday, I'd leave it as a gift if my comp took dollar bills. Oh, about setup: get Zandronum [it's free].
Sure there is. There's the Vaccine. The quest to get it is only available to really high level players, though, so it's sort of pointless for 99% of us. There's a mini-game you can play to assist them, but it's basically just an idle game.
In terms of loot ... you've got hand handsanitizer as another person mentioned, flour, yeast, eggs in some regions. Stuff like that. It's kind of dumb imo though, because it's literally just stuff that was common last month.
Yes it's an app and every time you complete one of your sidequests like do a workout you get xp for your charakter and ingame money. Ingame money could be used to buy animals, equipment, to unlock the next Episode of your favorit Show for you or for some chocolate. Habitica
Rule 1: It’s not a bug, it’s an insect.
Mosquitos are the bane of every mammal, and are commonly regarded as the worst troll character build in the game. For advanced mosquito PvP techniques, purchase two items: The first is a defensive potion known as the “Insect Repellent”. Applying it to you and your party creates an AoE that deters insect players, including those horrible mosquito mains. The second is an Electric Flyswatter weapon. When swung, it one-shots any mosquitos whose hitbox it connects with using an Electric-type attack. Keep in mind, multiple mosquitos can be eliminated with one stroke because their hitboxes are so tiny.
Nice to see some actual content on this sub. Anyway, hope that helps!
That’s what your starting clan was saying at your spawn. We were all there at one point, with stats at 0 and only the ability to spam the Cry emote. It’s a part of the main quest, and sometimes you can die on it (with advancement in Healthcare abilities, so this been reduced). At level 5 or so they can take on your diet and playstyle.
Also, there are mounts, smart one: https://www.amazon.com/Safety-1st-Sounds-Discovery-Activity/dp/B00EVLIHWM/ref=zg_bs_322268011_1/134-4593337-1145124?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=E7MYXPF4Y21TAA8P19AP
I think it’s more of a guidebook to the Karma meter and the Morals feature.
Also, you can use basic Fire magic by acquiring this legendary rarity item. I know it’s a technically different spell, but it’s still awesome.
Engineering main here who unlocked the Masters of Science achievement last year. Found this skillbook in a loot drop during my Sophomore year of the college questline. The book assigned an x4 multiplyer to any exp I gained from grinding mathematics, science, art, and other branches that require deep learning. The difficulty is set to an early high-school level, so it's accessible to most players Lv 13+. I wish I had found it as early on in the main quest as you.
Good luck and game on.
This item is supposed to make it easier for players with asthma etc debuffs. I have no direct experience but here it is https://www.amazon.com/Silicone-Homemade-Comfortable-Breathing-Washable/dp/B08931ZQZC
I use these because they give you +5 cool during the day and +10 cool (but with +2 stumble) at night
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Premium-Military-Sunglasses-Polarized-protection/dp/B00W266R8O
I've also heard that Evangelical Lutheran quests tend to be accepting of differences if you are wanting something a little closer to Catholic quest formats. But that is just based on a book I read that was recommended to me by a friend more than personal experience.
For keeping drinks cold you can purchase petroleum byproducts that contain water and can be frozen and act as ice without weakening the drink as they become warm. They are reusable but not dishwasher safe. plastic ice cubes
You could always put in console commands and summon a dishwasher. My character's guild requires long hours walking so I generally only care about restoring HP when I get back to my base, not doing more quests.
Some players in the [taoist] guild put together a nice Skillbook in healing the majority of ailments, including the eyesight debuff. https://www.amazon.com/Complete-System-Self-Healing-Internal-Exercises/dp/0942196066/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
This lore book may help you enjoy thinking about your question, "Sages Speak About Immortality (The mananam series)": https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1880687089/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
In addition to skills on the [Exercise] skill tree, which others have mentioned, I have found the [CBT] skill, which is skill on both the [Wisdom] and [Therapy] trees that starts out locked, to be the most useful mental health buff both for my own and others' characters whose players I've recommended it to. One easy and recommended method to unlock the skill is by trading with a bookseller or librarian character for "The Feeling Good Handbook". Read it and follow the exercises within regularly, and the [CBT] skill can act as a passive buff against [depression].
GLHF.
The [retreat] side quest has significantly improved my characters [equanimity] and [concentration] skills, which I have been told is critical by other players who have unlocked the [enlightenment] achievement. The item [Mastering the Core Teachings of the Buddha by Daniel Ingrim] is helpful in preparation for this side quest.
Have you looked into fish oil? The Omegas turned my life around with zero negative side effects and arguably it's otherwise quite good for you. Plus it's way cheaper than any of the three anti-depressants I was on when I was younger. This [merchant] sells my favorites at a reasonable cost although it tends to vary quite a bit.
I'm gonna attempt to rack up a high score using nothing but my initial Gold investment. My first item purchase should get me rolling but not sure when the AI will stumble upon it. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009VPUSB6
Like a lot of other skills in /r/outside, grinding the Cooking skill requires a lot of crafting. There are some shortcuts that will give a good skill boost, however.
Of course there are recipe guides, but without knowing the theorycrafting behind the Cooking skill, these guides are of limited use. I highly recommend the skill guides The Flavor Bible and The Science of Good Cooking. Both of these skill guides go very deep into the theorycrafting behind the Cooking skill, allowing you to create your own ad-hoc recipes and not have to rely on community-produced recipes.
Depending on your level of commitment to the Cooking skill, I also recommend visiting a local trainer for the Cooking skill. These exist all around, and in exchange for in-game money, will increase your Cooking skill rather quickly.
Depends on what zone your in and what kind of players you are up against. Personally for common zones and everyday travel I'd recommend a sturdy leather jacket (or a motorcycle one) to help reduce slash damage, as well as cut proof glove (http://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Steel-Wire-Mesh-Gloves/dp/B007TSJHGO/ref=sr_1_5?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1426827986&sr=1-5)
I personally use these everyday as well as keep them on me at all times in my jacket and or bag, you never know when they will come in handy. Id also keep a pocket knife as well, however laws in your zone may restrict these so be wary. Good luck
Well, one of my guild mates has had some success with Takos Japanese, so much so that he's got me starting it.
For a language-learning minigame, it's not bad!
