BF4 is a game. It's supposed to be fun. If you are not having fun, it's time to take a break. Go ahead, we don't mind. We'll still be here when you get back.
Battlefield 4 is what it is. There is no one here at /r/purebattlefield who can change the game EA/DICE has given us. What PURE CAN do is provide the absolutely best environment for folks to have the most fun possible playing BF4. As bad as it seems, BF4 on PURE is still head and shoulders better than the game on rival servers because of our commitment to teamplay and fairness. You just do not see hackers or exploiters farming kills for stat/XP inflation.
EA/DICE will make BF4 the game we all believe it can be someday. Until that day comes though, there is no point in bitching about it constantly. Either play the game as best you can and help those around you be they best they can be or go to your happy place.
It's free now: https://www.origin.com/en-us/store/buy/battlefield-1942/pc-download/base-game/play-for-free-ANW.html ever since its 10th birthday: http://blogs.battlefield.com/2012/11/download-bf1942-for-free/
Running: I am training for a half - marathon this year :) Hopefully a marathon next year!
Baking: I bake cookies once a week and give them away! I made Triple Chocolate Oreo cookies this week, I changed the recipe and made it even better!:)!
I also try to read a book once a month for fuun! Currently reading : American Gods!
And top five games: Left Dead, which was actually my first PC game, battlefield bad company 2, left 4 dead 2, chivalry maddieval warfare, tomb raider!
As an east coaster, I actually live closer to London than LA. I'd almost never play on a west coast server.
In all honesty since we are discussing server location, having an east coast server would positively affect the most Pure players by a wide margin. A whopping 47.4% of regulars based on the Spring Executive Summary are in the eastern time zone and another 9.2% in Europe.
Yes, Chicago is geographically central in the United States, but is it central to the most Pure players? Forget about adding an East coast server, I call to move the servers to the ~~beast coast~~ east coast!

PURE Community Rule Number One: >Be considerate of others' experience.
>Heated competition, profanity, and off-color humor are welcome here. Mean-spirited comments (whether to opponents or teammates), excessive negativity, and a general disregard for others' experience are not. PURE BATTLEFIELD is a community, and if you are making it an unwelcoming place for others, we’d rather not have you around.
(emphasis mine)
You are making special allowances for women if you are treating them with more 'love and respect' than the guys at PURE. You are a sexist (or a philogynist) because you give preferential treatment to women. In your case, most people would consider your treatment to be benign. However, by calling attention to their femaleness, you may inadvertently cause them great harm when someone else tears into them for being a woman.
As far as PURE should be concerned, there are no men and women players, just gamers. Just as you should hold a door open for anyone who is trying to go through it about the same time as you (and not just the pretty girl you've been eying for the last half block), so should you should treat everyone at PURE the same. We are all human beings.
While it happens that the women you listed are not hiding their gender, not all who visit here are as comfortable as they are with the PURE community. Perhaps they have some reason for not wanting to be outed as a woman. It is our duty to treat everyone the same so they can enjoy PURE the way they want and not have to suffer from any indignities from either misogynists or well-meaning philogynists.
Also, there are numerous stores you can buy it at if you have cash, gift cards or have other reservations about buying online. https://minecraft.net/prepaid
You don't need to install the base game. Just make an account with Mojang and activate Minecraft. http://meliocraft.com/how-to-join/ You may need to upgrade Java.
I mean, just go look at the PURE Trello which is how a lot of the teams organize their past, current, and future workloads. It should shed some light on the going on's of PURE.
PURE is open to the extent that if you'd like to know more, there are resources to learn about it. Sometimes you just have to do some digging (Or request more information from a Communications Volunteer who can then direct you to the right person or Team that will answer your questions).
A few things:
Lamech made a video logo a while ago: link Y'all are welcome to use it (or create others) if you see fit.
I like how you guys came together to jump-start promotional video distribution here.
In addition to everything you're doing now, I'd like to establish the official "Pure Battlefield" YouTube channel more at some point, with heavily curated & polished content, but that can come later. I think there are other higher community priorities now, like getting a second server going.
If you're planning on adding forums and groups so you can expand to other games, rather than start from scratch, I'd suggest something like https://www.vbulletin.com/ it has a pretty robust back end and is really customizable. It can be modded to work with a lot of different front end packages and has the ability to have a custom app for your site.
I feel you. I'm on the west coast too and most of my late night gaming isn't usually on PURE servers. As part of the survey being currently conducted, we're evaluating where PURE should next open servers (US West is one of the options). If you haven't had a chance to fill out the survey yet, I'd encourage you to make your opinion heard!
The task list lists everything we currently have planned to do, but I don't see anything similar to your suggestion. It looks like Cosmic and Adama decided to test out Trello for the Web Development tasks. The link is in the task list, but here is the link to make it easier for you to find.
This seems like a good suggestion for the future, and maybe it will get added to the task list. For now, you can just make a "self" post for those types of shout outs.
