You can set QuickSearch to use the Dictionary.com app. Install the app, got to Sesame Settings > Settings > Search Settings > turn ON Dictionary.
That will let you type a word, then tap to get the definition.
In general we don't put any content inline with the search results. We try to keep that super clean. That way you can find shortcuts in 2 or 3 taps.
Hey hope it's okay to post my thoughts here:
Lot of my shortcuts are disappearing. Specifically, ones I made as a QuickShortcutMaker shortcut (as in via the launcher shortcut selection (the old one, not app shortcuts))
I'd like to see the overlay as something more like App Swap so I can use it as an app drawer for non-Nova launchers and still have my sesame shortcuts. (Maybe collaborate with this dev like with Nova to integrate Sesame? )
Actually, the current "darkened wallpaper" overlay would be alright for my intention mentioned above but I need a better way to trigger sesame, like with a shortcut on my launcher or a widget maybe.
Or at least a swipeable area on the bottom edge of the screen, not just left or right
Thanks! I remember when this app first came it, it's come a long way and my launcher experience now absolutely requires Sesame as a part!
Edit:
Can you also add some search engines like Wikipedia? I know the app doesn't support it in the normal way, but this would be great!
How to add a custom search URI with my browser?
I am looking for a feature similar to custom search engine on Chrome desktop.
For example, I can add a search based URI as http://jisho.org/search/%s so that when I type 'js kata', the URI http://jisho.org/search/kata is loaded.
I forgot that they've taken it down from the Play Store, but here is the APKMirror link: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/ys-liang/all-in-one-gestures-2/all-in-one-gestures-2-5-8-6-release/one-gestures-5-8-6-android-apk-download/
I'm sure this won't be the most requested integration, but Library would be a hugely appreciated addition to the quicksearch options.
I'd also love to see dictionary.com, which is already on the request list, and the option for smaller fonts, or more compact results.
Thanks for a great app!
Good morning! I use sesame as nova integration on a Samsung Galaxy s8 with Android 7.0! Seriesguide is an app that tracks TV series (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.battlelancer.seriesguide), Sesame supports it by creating 3 links, but only 1 of 3 works, it does not work in the movie section or list section! Every time I click on movies go back to the seriesguide home page! Solid Explorer is a file manager, sesame asks me to create a manual link by telling you in which folder to log in! But as soon as I tell you which folder to choose, go back to the new Launcher home page! Thank you and sorry for my english!
IDK if anyone's here after 6 months, but we're hoping to get this thing going again and would love to hear from you.
The new version of Sesame Edge, with the Super Settings bundle, should be released tomorrow morning.
Oh, and if you have Sesame Lock Screen, you'll want to switch to Edge. It has all the features of Lock Screen and more (it gets the updates).
>Let me know if those tips for Reddit and Gmail help. Sorry about the Incognito and GPM situation. I wish we had access to those. Thanks for taking the time to reach out. I'll +1 the YouTube work.
Yes I ask before I fully looked.. Amazing app with a lot of options I get the GPM thing and TBH I'm a Spotify guy anyway only think is that incognito mode...
It might not be as long left down as you think .xposed can get last it: http://repo.xposed.info/module/org.ollide.xposed.incognitotab
You could use some of the source to do whatever they do to make it open in incognito.. ofc of be an xposed only future
Try this: go to Sesame Settings > Settings > Search Settings > Search Engine > choose Custom and paste in https://www.ecosia.org/search?q=%s
Does that work?
Simple Gallery Pro issue is likely due to how we detect apps. The short version is there's lots of ways to do it and ours is basically 99% good. To be totally honest, we could put in more time to get it to 100% but we've got a bunch of other higher priority tasks. That said, I'll bump this up a few spots on the ole roadmap. Thanks for reporting.
Yeah, are you on Nova 5.5? Could you try reverting to 5.4 (here's a download link)? Does the problem still exist on 5.4?
It looks like there might be 2 bugs out here. One is Sesame's fault and we're working on a fix. But we've gotten reports that Nova 5.5 may also be causing a slow down. We talked to the Nova devs, but they don't know what could cause it.
At this point if we verified that reverting to Nova 5.4 fixes it, I think we can get the Nova guys to take a deeper look. Thanks!
Thanks for the quick reply and explanation. I will add this in case someone else has the same problem. Some apps like Simple Contacts from Simple Apps will not let Sesame access the contacts. The solution as I wrote before, was to use a different Contact app like Google Contacts. Contact Search after doing this change is wprking as intended. Works fine on both Nova Search(with Sesame integration) and with Sesame Search.
Word of advice: Make a sticky thread in this subreddit with FAQs and common problems. Should help troubled folks and reduce the frequency of the same questions all over again. Anyways, thanks for the support. Cheers!
That would be awesome! Here's a link to our translation platform.
Shoot me an email if you have any questions:
We'd be happy to give you a few promo codes to share with friends if you'd like. And we'll add you as a contributor in the "About" section of Sesame. Just email me your info.
Thanks again!!!!
The iconpack is IconX, it's old and doesn't seem to be available on playstore anymore. A lot of apps have missing icons, but for the icons it does have, it's nice. may be you can find a safe alternate source for the APK.

The keyboard is Multiling-O. the row above the numbers is the suggestions bar but you can customize to show other keys when not typing or with text selections (for text transform).
Go to Settings>Layouts>Suggestion Bar>Defaults
You'll find the keys you can use on the 'Keys reference' on 'Suggestion Bar'
This keyboard also hasn't been updated for quite some time, it doesn't have cool AI and stuff, but is very light and powerful customizations.
>You suggested workaround.
Did you read my entire post? Did you click the links I provided? What you're asking for already exists in browsers. I'm not repeating myself.
>But I'm sure to add in Sesame the opportunity to make own search engine with own icon and own parameters will be great extension. I even will pay for it. But the app is almost dead.
The app is far from dead if you take the time to learn how to use it. This isn't Custom Search Bar Widget, which I uninstalled for good reason. Maybe it'll do what you want.
Actually. I found a podcast app that has a publicly available API on another webpage if that ever helps.
The app is called Pocket Casts. I don't know if this webpage will help or not. But, it should have the API for interacting with the Pocket Casts account; which might help with turning the users podcast subscriptions into shortcuts in Sesame.
This one allows you to remap the "diagonal from corner for assistant" swipe gesture to Sesame (or anything else you want):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=amirz.assistmapper&hl=de&gl=US
Set SwipeUp Utility as your assistant app and then have SwipeUp launch Sesame Search by default.
At the time I used this app called Podcast Guru and I used that in particular because it had a shortcut function that was compatable with sesame. But, now I just use a different launcher. Sh*t became too difficult when it came to the icon changing setting and how often they updated the app.
Please also add support for Fluid Navigation Gestures too. (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fb.fluid)
I use the lockscreen activity of sesame with this app but everytime I open it and select an action, the app I was using closes to the homescreen.
Is there any way to make the lockscreen activity an overlay like the screen edge?
Let me make sure I understand. You installed this app, went into Sesame Settings > Settings > Search Settings, and turned on Dictionary. The you searched for a word in Sesame like "radish". When you tap on the Dictionary app in QuickSearch (the very bottom row of tiny icons), it doesn't open?
Is that right?
LMK, the more detail you provide the easier it will be for us to debug. Thanks!
I am trying to create shortcut from ice box app but its not working.
Error message "unable to create shortcut from app".
Shortcut name: Quick start app
Sure thing. Is this the app?
If so, I'll add it to our next round of QuickSearch additions. Don't know if it will work, but we'll try it out.
Thanks for the suggestion!
You can use the app map assist for that.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=amirz.assistmapper
The rating is quite low but it works well for me.
Edit: sorry for the slow reply just realised this post is 2 weeks old lol
Actually I managed to solve the problem by using an auxiliary app: Rotation Control. The other ones I tried did not work as well. Anyway, this app has a "per app" control setting and I did just that for Nova launcher and sesame and set up the option "landscape sensor" that means landscape but it can flip 180 deg if you flip the device. Otherwise there is also autorotate mode that flips the device in any direction.
Well with this setting things work like a charm. The sesame search looks gorgeous! Thanks a lot, you guys.
I have Android 7.0 as well, but I don't think that is the issue. I found out this app that has what I needed, shorcuts that can be added in SS as secon click apps.
I can confirm Nova integration works with a physical keyboard. Also, if you use one of these, you would just be able to use a standard USB keyboard.
Thanks! This screen recording app is pretty good. It let's you upload to YouTube. Then you can link to YouTube here.
We're having trouble seeing what's happening, the vid will help a lot.
The apps need to be installed for each of these to work. Do you have the Wikipedia app and the DuckDuckGo app installed?
Update: I got the issue again with a different keyboard app (no physical keyboard). Seems Sesame Shortcuts just doesn't like when there's too much vertical space. The app I'm using now is Remote Keyboard.
With that in mind, I went back to Hacker's Keyboard and turned the keyboard height way down. I got the same bug. I was able to experiment with different heights and find the breaking point.
With my phone (Nexus 5X), Sesame Shortcuts will only work if the keyboard takes up more than 16% of the screen.
There does not seem to be a breaking point on the other end - HK lets you set a size anywhere from 15% to 75%, and it works at 75% (though the button is hidden under the keyboard itself at that point).
Edit: Also, normally, you can tap in the grey space (where there are no icons) to cancel the shortcut invocation. If this bug occurs, you can't do that. The system back button still works however.
(futures request) costom icon support
plz support costom icon like this.https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.themezilla.pixelui
in some thread party luncher, can use costume icon, so i want same appearance.
Thanks!
The Nova guys would have to write a bunch of custom code to work in the Uber/Lyft comparison. Given that Uber is threatening to shut it down, didn't seem worth it. That said we made a stand alone app for it called Ride Fair.
