For anyone coming here from the front page interested in learning more about the idea of basic income and not knowing just where to start as far as reading goes, I suggest the following two articles as primers to the idea:
The first goes over a lot of evidence that exists for the idea in general, and the second goes over a lot of the evidence from the perspective of how it'll make our economy work better.
Here's an article about why Basic Income does not cause inflation.
Put simply, inflation occurs when the amount of money increases disproportionately to the amount of value in the economy. Basic Income does not increase the amount of money, but merely redistributes it. Various forms of BI have been implemented all over the world and none have never been shown to devalue currency.
It's likely that parents (or teachers or other adults) are reading Berenstain Bears with kids. Since "-stein" names are common and "-stain" names are uncommon, the parents know of people named Epstein, Bernstein, or Goldstein and thus misread it. The kids remember their parents' incorrect pronunciation. That's my personal theory anyway. It could also function as a verbal meme. Ask random people if Vader said "Luke, I am your father", etc. -- because sometimes the wrong version is catchier than the right one.
> That was 1 year ago and my computer already can't handle new games on max anymore
There lies the root of the entire problem. Game developers intentionally make maximum something that nearly struggles on the top-of-the-line $1000 cards. It's bad at first, but new cards come out years down the road that make the "maximum" much easier to reach. By the time the next consoles come out, this "maximum" will be reachable by integrated graphics in laptops.
FYI - The so-called "next-gen" consoles run games at a fidelity equivalent to that of an underclocked 750Ti, which in itself is already an outdated and low-end card for PC standards: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/149-nvidia-gtx-750-ti-unveiled-plays-titanfall-better-than-xbox-one/1100-6417813/
You can't just buy a high-end PC and complain when it can't play everything at absolutely perfect levels. If that was the case, why would top-end hardware even be created? Developers create their games based on what hardware is available on the market. Luckily for you, the PC allows you to buy any card you want and raise/lower the settings to your desired levels. It sounds to me like you strive for nothing but maximum settings, yet you're eyeballing a console. You're gonna be really disappointed if you make that mistake.
My advice to you is... since you have what appears to be one of the best-needed CPUs for gaming in the world right now, you'll be able to upgrade your graphics card a couple of times before you'll bottleneck that CPU. PC pays off over time, you just wait for a year or two when there's a nice GPU refresh and a friend wants to buy your old 7850 from you. You just wait ;)
I'm totally going to create a "comforting" multireddit including both and whatever other subreddits I find. Any suggestions?
Here's hoping it doesn't just make me more depressed.
For anyone wondering, the go-to Mac/OS X alternative used to be GeekTool but it's pretty old at this point and there's less active development. Übersicht is the best option at this point, and has a huge number of widgets. OS X El Capitan isn't as customizable as Windows because it's rootless (from what I've heard), but you can still use this to get weather, album art etc on your desktop and make it look a little more unique.
anime of the year IMO. There's an incredible amount of starpower in the animation team and it really shows. There's a great non-spoilery video here and if you aren't sold after that you can't be sold on anything.
edit: since I am shilling anyways, Daisuki is the licensed distributor which means you can stream it on their site for legally for free. go nuts!
r/nonfictionbookclub mod here. Just wanted to say thanks to r/trendingsubreddits, and everyone who has stopped by since this post.
We're just starting The Art of War, and we're having another vote on July 9, so I hope to see you there!

though yeah those are fair points. They could still lie on the survey, of course, but I guess neither of us has any legitimate arguments then.
Not really, but when they changed their EULA to crack down on that, apparently they reworded something else that seemed to put Bukkit's legal status into question. And that's where all the other crap started.
Uh, yeah. If you don't have car insurance when you drive and you get pulled over you get fined. And now with "obamacare" you have to have health insurance otherwise you have to pay a fee.
You can start with the wikipedia page for classical liberalism. Here is also the SEP entry on classical liberalism.
if you want to read more about early liberalism, Wealth of Nations is the classic text on it, but it's economics is somewhat antiquated in modern days. Two Treatises on Government is Locke's magnum opus. Capitalism and Freedom by Milton Friedman briefly goes into the history of liberalism from a modern American perspective. Thomas Hobbes Leviathan (I'm told) was the intellectual basis for much of liberalism, but I've never read it.
I know it sounds like inflation is that simple of an equation, but it's not and there are a lot more variables involved which are actually very interesting to look at in greater depth.
Here's an article for that if you'd like to learn about inflation and basic income.
It's got 4 appendix articles attached as well, if you want to go really in depth by also reading each one.
Hello fellow MTG redditors! I've created this 6Question survey for some personal research! If any if you guys would be so kind to fill them for me it would help soo much! Thank you!!! https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/LLPML73
You can actually disable the "rootless" (SIP) feature in El Capitan, it's not actually rootless. While the feature is enabled, you can't modify certain files even if you have access to the root account. This was apparently meant to prevent malware from locking users out of their accounts. You can deactivate it easily.
Simple tutorial on how to do so here: http://osxdaily.com/2015/10/05/disable-rootless-system-integrity-protection-mac-os-x/
Oh yes, of course. Sorry about that. I wouldn't have known because - hey, I don't have or use Origin. Steam has more interesting games for me. But thanks for clearing that up for me!
It looks like Titanfall is 50% off right now, only $10. That still beats consoles, I think. https://www.origin.com/en-us/store/buy/titanfall/pc-download/base-game/standard-edition
