X-Plane is pretty much the current gold-standard for flight sims in the home and is also used commercially in multi-axis hydraulic professional flight sims. It is pretty incredible how much realism they simulate. And the feature set between the home and commercial versions is virtually identical. Home is pretty much only missing the stuff required to control spherical/cylindrical projection screens and software to interface with physical high end flight control systems.
Pretty nuts what you can get for $60 these days. And a nice bonus is the founder and CEO of the company that makes X-Plane is a major fighter of copyright trolls.

Update 11.05.2016 (Server Update)
This is a server update that will be implemented on the game servers within 24 hours. During this time, bug reports regarding specifics mentioned here and their effect in a battle will not be considered as a bug and as such will not be taken into consideration.
- LMS Feature disabled in RB and SB modes.
The LMS feature, while providing a realistic effect on 2-3 crew member ground vehicles, has an unnatural effect on vehicles with larger crews with complex internal path-finding in many cases. We don't want have different controls/gameplay mechanics on different tanks, so we have decided to rework the effect. Today we will disable this feature in RB and SB mode. We plan to add new functions in the next major update that will make it possible to heal one or more crew members. This will give more gameplay options on the one hand and will not create the disadvantages that players faced previously.
To give more detail.
Red Orchestra 2 is set on the Russian front, it's certainly not like Battlefield 1942 or Cod. It's a lot more "hardcore" so to speak, death is very quick. But it's a very fun and great game.
Rising Storm is the same game as Red Orchestra 2, but set between the pacific island conflicts between Japan and the USA. You can play all the maps for free if you own Red Orchestra 2, but you'll be locked to only one of the classes unless you buy the expansion.
War Thunder is a flight sim/arcade (it has a few game-modes) starting with late bi-planes and moving up through world war 2 and eventually ending at the end of the Korean conflict (1953). 90% of the game is world war 2 planes, however. Name a plane and War Thunder most likely has it.
Oh and War Thunder is working on a ground forces mode, which is tank combat. So far it's Looking pretty damn good for a closed alpha.
He is definitely using a wall hack. Just look at the replay from his point view (you must have WT already started before pressing REPLAY). Report him with the replay page link near his name.
What you are describing is pretty-much what the "World War" mode is supposed to be whenever it finally gets introduced. See Gaijin's own talks about it here.
Long running confrontations spread out over a number of battles/locations within one larger map which you can join whenever you want and leave whenever you want. They've also said WW is going to be a large-scale campaign style thing where leaders (don't know who these are going to be) can pick and direct more localised battles, with air/ground/ships working together towards certain objectives.
Sounds great but as with all WT things it seems to be taking a hella long time to get put out there. EC seems to be some sort of beta-test for it but that's about it. I don't think we've even had a soon^^^tm yet.

Mine thoughts? Dagor Engine 4.0, new vehicles and maps look awesome. Other things not so much. New spotting system for tanks might make World of Tanks out of War Thunder (invisible tanks -_-). New crew system takes a lot of progress that players made over the years and basically blocks it behind a paywall. Grind is still unresolved. So are BRs of tier V planes and tanks (I don't know why I would grind Hawker Hunter if I already fight Sabres in my Mk3 Meteor).
This patch proves again that gaijin has better programmers than managers. Technically even more astounding. It's the gameplay that gets hit once again.

Sorry, I was too excited! If you notice suspicious behavior (e.g. in this case magical ability to spot/track through cover), there is now an easier way to tell if the enemy player is a cheater or just good. Check the server replay, use view 2 (player perspective, includes their scopeuse unlike local replays), and use the handy Report button.
This annoying guy and his ill-gotten RB GF 6:1 K:D in all major Rank IV grinders (thanks Thunderskill) is now history. And days of his life and a dozen premium vehicles.
Wow! I was really not expecting this news at all. It's great to see Gaijin working on things to cater towards the SB crowd recently.
It's incredible how much better the game looks in this screenshot just because of the open cockpit. It adds an amazing amount of credibility to the planes, and makes them seem more like real machines and less like airfix models.
I think the SB community deserves a more in depth explanation to "Upcoming changes to Simulator battles". Replacing "to battle" SB with duels (as they currently exist) isn't much of a replacement at all. People are very concerned. Please explain your vision of the future of SB for us.

Economy and Research
- Maximum RP rewards for a victorious battle have been increased by 10%.
- Successful actions in air battles (such as kills, assists etc.) will bring more mission score points. Now aircraft and ground vehicles will receive the same amount of mission score points for all activities.
- The Battle activity calculation has been changed. You will need to earn more points in order to get over 50% activity.
The British ground vehicle tree
We are introducing three starter ground vehicles for the British tree, which will appear in the next major update.
With the the three starter vehicles, we are planning on introducing five specific lines:
- Self-propelled AAA and anti-aircraft tanks.
- Light and cruiser tanks.
- Medium tanks.
- Infantry and heavy tanks.

Luftwaffe fans, rejoice! One of the most unusual and dangerous aircraft of WW2 - the Do.335 “Pfeil” has arrived with three modifications!
The Do.335 is the first aircraft with tandem-mounted engines in War Thunder, that’s why designing its model was a bit of a challenge for us. We believe that we did well. Both engines and both propellers are operational, the animations of the radiator shutters, the flap system and the chassis all operate correctly.
Besides the unusual look of the model itself, observers may also notice the canopy design that is uncommon for a German fighter aircraft, also the unique front undercarriage leg.
As for the vehicle performance and the aircraft’s combat characteristics, it should be noted that experimental models built by Claudius Dornier featured a superb speed in level flight (perhaps they were the fastest piston powered aircraft of WW2), a powerful armament consisting of 20mm and 30mm cannons and also its capability of carrying bombs both on the wing pods and in bomb bay.
In War Thunder, the Do.335 is represented with 3 modifications:
- Do.335A-0. armed with 1 МK 103 30mm gun, and 2x20 mm MG151’s
- Do.335A-1 able to carry 1x500 kg bomb in the bomb bay and 2x250 kg bombs on the wing pods.
- Do.335B-2 - a premium vehicle armed with 2 additional 30mm wing-mounted cannons - a true flying artillery battery!
The Do.335 is one of the most advanced prop fighters in history. Get ready to meet it in War Thunder Update 1.57!
For the biggest and smallest planes this infographic they released shows them. The He-162 is the smallest and the G5N1 is the biggest. I don't think anything has changed.
As for tanks, I believe the Jadgtiger is the heaviest tank put into production, but the T-35 might still be the biggest. The smallest tank is probably the t-60 as /u/Stone_CyberStone said.

War Thunder recently enabled serverside replays after a match, which can be viewed in-game in the "Battles" tab of recent activity, where you'd go and find in-game information on victories, losses, purchases, achievements, etc.
It will direct you to a page where you can view the server's version of a replay. This is great, because you can see ever player at any moment, as well as what every player sees, through the eyes of the server. Not only that, but you can REPORT PLAYERS, and even add a timestamp, from the website interface implicitly for illegal programs, which you can't do in-game. These replays also are good if you want to capture a neat match you had, as you can record from more interesting angles without vehicles disappearing because you did not have LOS at the time.
I thought this was an amazing feature, because I found out that some people I was suspicious of turned out to just be good players. But then there were other cases, like this one. I wasn't actually even that suspicious about this player until I realized he had 12 kills near the end of the match and seemed to know exactly where I was at a few moments later, unrecorded.
If you have a few moments, check out one of your matches with this system. It's great, and you might pick up some tips by watching other players.

War Thunder is killing it again with tier 9 tanks and helicopters event and theirs weekly show focusing on quite interesting concepts.
Please, don't pay for anyone for things like that. Press accounts are easily revoked without a notice if they are misused. That would mean that money that you payed for something like that will be gone from your account, but you won't receive anything.

There is always a difference between safe operating parametres and capabilities. If wing deformity happens at 700+ km/t dives, you set the dive speed at what aircraft under most circumstances can handle without losing integrity. There is a world of difference between a slight deformation, or a pink wing and wings flying off the instant you hit a speed.
ULQ for replay to show that forest doesn't magically disappear, because someone will say something about it immediately otherwise.

Basically, this dude killed me through a forest, through a house that I was sitting behind on the other side of the map. Decided to find his replays and have watched a few.

The 'White Rock Fortress' battle on Nov 11 was another one that was pretty obvious. Some are hard to tell because the guy is just so insanely bad at the game, and also has the Panther with the worst turret traverse, but after you watch for a bit it becomes pretty plain to see.
You missed my point. I don't like the FB comments because they are "funny", but because they engage with the community in a great way.
The clowns I am talking about did more damage to Gaijin's image than anything. What I mean are all those arrogant and passively aggressive answers that count in hundreds over the years. It is better to be silent. Not at all connected to delivering bad news. It's nice you are trying to protect your colleagues, but turning a blind eye to all of that is not going to help you.
I think there are hundreds of examples in the comment section of WT.com and the forums. Last one that stuck in my mind is here:
The news is about opportunities to get vehicles via warbonds, one player says: "And all Gaijin ask for is 10 hours of your life everyday!"
To which Stona_WT answers: "Amount of time you spend on warbonds tasks depends mostly on your skills ;)"
There is no point disputing whether it is true or not (it is not, warbonds require time, not skill). This is a typical example of doing a shit job as a community manager or whatever. What is the point of this comment? It's exactly what I am talking about. It's not funny, it's being a dick in name of Gaijin. Passively aggressive arrogant dickness. This guys is the clown. There is no way anyone at their right mind would think that this is an appropriate way to respond to such a comment in a name of a gaming company.

Well, it takes a few minutes to place the picture right. And then you launch the game which takes about three minutes, then apply the skin and test flight. That all takes about 8 minutes, and then the actual opening of Bandicam or whatever and clicking film. Plus Photoshop takes about 2 minutes to open up.

The changes aren't really sneaky for the most part, they were listed (all be it vaguely) was in the patchnotes.

At a quick glance it looks like the mantle on the Panther D and A has been slightly tweaked and sideskirts modeled for all variants of the Panther, the gun mounting on the Jagdpanzer IV seems to be more complexly modeled. For the M3 Lee the frontal armour now appears to be modeled in segments and increased complexity ~~on the turret, mantles and casement~~ all round to be honest. If I'm wrong on any of these don't hesitate to say, my memory is awful.
I think you might have a typo-it is the he177, not the he117 AFAIK. However, that and the hs-123 are in the release tree, but not the other two.
It is in beta - a lot of things that are in game already are still work in progress and a lot of things are not there yet. We don't plan to wipe the progress. Here is the roadmap of what is planned to be finished before game release.

For a more arcade-style flight sim, try War Thunder (free-to-play, optional micro-payments).
Both work pretty well in VR.

It's from Operation S.U.M.M.E.R. Everyone who completed two tasks (not two marks, but two tasks) got one of these once 125,000 total tasks were completed (which was a couple days ago). We also broke the 300,000 mark, so everyone with two marks completed should get a "Follow me, comrades!" title that they can use.

New Top Tier MM will try to "balance teams".
- E.g. There is a limit of 4 top vehicles per team, except at BR 7.0-7.7 - here we have a limit in 6 top vehicles per team.

- 6.7 -> 7.7
- 7.0 -> 8.0
- 7.3 -> 8.3
In theory, flying at 7.7 BR, in 3 matches you should have 1 Game in each group.

I'm super excited for naval warfare as well, and that Swordfish v Bismarck sounds like a fun event. Aircraft carriers are going to be in here is a screenshot from WT from a long time ago, I imagine they'll work like aircraft carriers in Battlestations: Pacific where the player controlling the carrier launches flights of AI controlled planes at designated targets. Submarines I've heard mixed reports about I really hope they make it in though, there are a lot of very interesting subs as well as a lot of interesting ASW aircraft/ships/weapons.

According to their CEO, nothing was changed in coding of RP income, only visual representation as well as displays in data notes are altered. It happened when gaijin announced the change to talisman/premium RP display.

BVV_d's explanation refers more to ricochet mechanics, how APC/APCBC ricochets less than AP/APBC does, rather than penetration, which makes me think that either he didn't understand the question or that Gaijin is possibly avoiding answering the penetration question for one reason or another.

They just did a commemoration for Roll on the Ace of the Month. Link here It was very honest and painted him in a good light (even though he was successful against Russians). I rather doubt your theory is why in this case, but I do suspect with Nazi's they are more careful about what media, pictures, etc.. they 'support'.

Cheaters do get banned in WT, as evidenced by a bunch of posts on this subreddit, you just have to use the proper channels to get Gaijins attention.

For the record- Gaijin posted a very in depth explaination of why they did this.
The basics of it are thus; In real life, our eyes have a much greater field of view and acuity than can be conveyed in the (comparatively) small amount of pixels we have on screen. With the amount of pixels we have, aircraft wouldn't even be remotely visible at a fraction of the range they are now, wheras in real life it's possible to make out distinguishing features of aircraft at a much greater range. Their solution to this is to put a silhouette of the aircraft, more akin to what you would see in real life with our visual capabilities, over the top of the otherwise indistinguishable dot. It's a compromise between reality, and the limitations of the game & display medium.
From the devblog linked above; "More than anything, game cameras are reminiscent of the image that action cameras such as the GoPro provide. If you want, you can easily find various videos shot from such cameras on YouTube, and take a look at how small the people look at just a few meters.
Naturally, at such a viewing angle, an aircraft at four kilometers on a full HD monitor is about four pixels wide and only half a pixel tall – in other words, it disappears from view. And even from two kilometers, the aircraft has a wing thickness of significantly less than a pixel, while the fuselage is around one pixel. This means that with an ordinary game camera, an aircraft will start to flicker and disappear at a distance of two kilometers and will fully disappear by four kilometers."
Now to be honest, I think this is a really fucking awesome way of compromising between reality and virtual reality. If you want aircraft to disappear at 4km and be practically invisible at 2km, (and everyone threw a hissy when dot visibility range dropped slightly, remember), then feel free to voice that opinion. But it won't be popular.
As far as i remember, the E-4 didn't had bullet-proof front glass (or any other kind of bullet proof glass) so far, as it only had an armoured backrest and headrest - which seemed to be fully implemented right in the game anyway.
The Bf 109 E-7 finally additional introduced also the frontal bullet-proof glass. ^It ^was ^stated ^so ^even ^in ^the ^Devblog. ^^[1]
Only about 26% of the planes in game are Russian. Granted they still have more than any other country its because of all the useless repeats it has, like the 6 different I-16s, the 4-5 SB2Ms, the multiple Pes, Yers etc.
But compared to WoWP, WT has a way larger diversity of aircraft; hands down not even comparable.

In case anyone is wondering, the game is War Thunder , a free-to-play air/tank combat game. I really love it, but the grind is quite annoying.
It's got a fairly active subreddit over on /r/warthunder and an active playerbase, so try it out if you like this kind of game!
It seems that based on this, they intend to implement the T28 (only the inner pair of tracks) and T95 (full set of tracks) as two separate vehicles. Not sure how that's gonna work out, given that the idea is pretty WG-esque stupid.

Sparking has nothing to do with damage model changes. Sparking means you missed your shot on the server but your computer says you did hit. Sparking is more a less a feature to let you know your aim is correct, just not correct on the server. (Ping, packet loss, server issues, general internet fuckery, etc)

nope, the ventral turret is different (B17E vs B17E/late), IRL the new improved ball turret added a significant amount of weight to the aircraft, in response, more powerful engines were installed; whether this is modeled in-game i'm not sure (i wouldn't trust the statcards).
Please post me a realistic battle screenshot of an unsquaded Fw-190 A-4 (RB br 4.3, tier II) facing a P-51D (RB br 5.0, tier IV). Both are very popular planes so a screenshot shouldn't be hard to come by. Yeah.
The +-1 tier spread was confirmed by Gaijin when they first introduced the new MM back in December 2013 and they have never said it isn't in effect anymore.

Kinda funny how they announced this project right after their competitors, Gaijin Entertainment, announced their own restoration project of the StuH 42 with Kabinka.
Considering your knowledge on the topic you might want to also check out World of Planes which looks like it will be slightly more "realistic" compared to World of Warplanes.
Maybe they actually playtested this patch, and are fixing some issues instead of just dropping it anyhow like they've done in the past?

Not sure what you are expecting support to do for you, but Gaijin has a policy of not refunding/reverting any hack account. Unless you can show that Gaijin is responsible (ie: negligent in securing your password or ensuring basic account security) I don't think there is anything legal you can do to get back those GE/SL (you can still ask but I don't see Gaijin budging). Here is a sample support email answer from such a request:

Sorry to be blunt, but being ignorant is no excuse. You allow your account to be hacked in some way (ex: reusing same password or having your browser passwords stolen or your PC compromise, and not using 2FA) and your now seeing the consequence.
I would suggest an alternative investment for your 75$.
Around November 1 (WT 5 year anniversary), Gaijin SHOULD do their annual anniversary sale with 50% off on everything (including 1 year premium account).
So today, you could buy 15000GE for 72$, which you will use to:
- buy 90days premium for 4900GE
- buy talisman on the M6A1 or M4A3E2 for 1500GE
- buy 365days premium for 7450GE (on November 1)
You will have 1.5 year of premium account, one talisman on a very good tank and 1150GE left (to be use to buy something on November 1 sale or the 50% holidays sales). A talisman tierIV would cost about 2000GE (1000GE 50% off), and by the holidays you may have reach a TierIV vehicle you like.
A talisman gives you the same +100% RP bonus as a premium (but not 2x SL bonus), and a talisman cost 50% less then an equivalent premium vehicle. While I can't comment on the T20, the M4A3E2 is a very good tank which I find superior to the M6A1 (specially in Arcade if you play that mode). Check this video about how to use the M4A3E2 as a SL printing machine.
Alternatively, you could buy a 180days premium on November sale (2450GE) leaving you with 6150GE for other stuff (ex: talisman or premium vehicle) or saving you 22$ by buying the 10000GE bundle.

You aren't sparking though, those are hitting both according to your client and the server. UNHchabo is saying that you should go to the server replay and spectate him - look at the damage he is taking. Server replays differ from client replays, as the client replay shows what you saw (mostly), whereas the server replay shows what it saw. You can find server replays here.
I suggest you to go back to the devblog and notice that a couple of Japanese boats were announced. Heck during one of the pre-CBT we could play a Japanese one.

These statistics are useless anyway because it doesn't in any way specify what kind of battles these statistics are from, and what it compares them to.
For example, does the top kill count come from regular battles or EC battles? You can get ridiculous kill counts in EC, and to lesser extent in AB - these do not in any way compare to RB Air/Ground or SB Ground kill counts.
And how does it compare my efficiency to the rest of entire player base, when most of my battles are in SB and most of the rest of the players generally play something other than SB?
I guess it's cool to know that I used the Panther II the most this past year, but does the 60% victory ratio mean that 60% of all my victories were achieved with this tank (I seriously doubt it) or that I won 60% of the battles where I drove the Panther II?

Nothing happened, sadly. They released one batch of skins and that was that.
AFAIK there was some drama about sharing the revenue between the actual skinner and the guy who made the blank skins and after that the project just stopped.
(The guys who made it into that first batch actually got some money out of it, so it wasn't a complete failure)
Have you checked out Warthunder? Its got pretty realistic WWII-Korea tank gameplay. Not perfect by a longshot, but it may be what you're looking for to some extent.
This is a simulator tank battle- your view is restricted to the commander and gunner optics, there are no enemy nametags and there is friendly fire. Oh and damage is module based, meaning you can shoot out the transmission or the turret ring but not completely kill an enemy tank.
Pretty fun, I'd recommend giving it a shot if you haven't already. Completely F2P, no P2W aspects of it really.
