I made an account this morning to post this, but dumb low karma rule. So thank you for posting this! I have been waiting for this forever!

I don't know your location, but you can get them on Amazon prime for $134.99 USD. It still sucks, but it's better than $174.28. HTC's shipping charges are insane.
Facebook doesn't believe in treating others especially well including their customer base
What incentive would I ever have to allow software remotely related to Facebook on my personal machine anymore. I was completely on the fence in the early days about what to buy, but there was zero chance after the Facebook deal. Stories like that new one just reinforce my decision.
FRIENDS: there's so much amazing feedback and bug reports, but it's hard to reply to everyone and keep track of it all; we made a trello board so we can keep it organized and everyone can see/upvote things:
(please upvote this comment, but leave replies empty!)
After an hour + of googling every variation and combination of words such as " metallic, clip, clamp, bracket, brace......" I finally fucking found it on amazon and available for prime. Metal tool clip were the word that brought forth this glorious result.
Hi guys,
I'm the one-man dev studio behind Tales Of Glory. First thanks to ImmersiveGamer83 for the pre-release review.
Feel free to ask all the questions you want. I'll be pleased to give all informations on Tales Of Glory.
As for the first question, yes damages, like many other things use physic, and are calculated with weapon mass, swing speed, displacement speed, and hit location.
EDIT : The public features roadmap for Tales Of Glory is accessible on Trello. you will be able to follow each improvement and vote for features.
https://trello.com/b/4W4cbqXU/tales-of-glory-roadmap
EDIT 2 :
Hi guys,
I've been updating the game with new features. - refined animations with better blending - Full haptic feedback based on physic - Ability to push foes with your shield - Update for the order system with the ability to select your whole army or all units of a class (light infantry, heavy, lancers, archers) in one click. U can still select units one by one - Ability to spawn distinct class of enemy in the tutorial - Foes fighting against you dynamically follow your weapon with their gaze - The lag system have been updated with new parameters and is more realistic - I've managed to create a quick reaction system for combat based on IK and move detection. Foes are now able to parry your swing with a quick move of shield or weapon. It's not easy see it in game but combat are a bit more dynamic. I really like the result
Everything have been fully tested (i've lost my hand in the process due to a full speed impact on my office door during testing... ouch)....
I still have to update the tutorial with new texts and i'll be pushing everything on the main branch before launch.
As an Oculus user, I'm just happy that they've been kicking ass for 2017. Artika.1 is great and Dash is exciting- tho atm its kinda buggy on Robot Recall. Valve managed to beat Oculus with SteamVR Home for the longest time- so in this way Oculus is just catching up. But overall, I'm really happy.
For you Vive friends, I highly recommend you take a look at Virtual Desktop. Right now Virtual Desktop integrates itself into the SteamVR dashboard- giving you the closest thing to 'Dash':
You can get it here:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/382110/Virtual_Desktop/
Giving a shoutout because the VD developer was proactive on helping me out on a issue previously.
Save yourself the trouble and get an extension of the cable instead of the PCI-E card! I just got this cable in and it works like a charm.
TRENDnet Low Loss RP-SMA Male to RP-SMA Female Antenna Cable, 2 m (6.5 ft.), 1.45 dB Max Signal Loss, TEW-L102 https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B071Y7FXWW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_GRtdCb88BX6F0
For UE4 devs it's: $7.00 on the Oculus store until $5million in gross sales, and then it would drop to the same $6.50 ( https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/blog/oculus-to-cover-royalty-fees-for-unreal-engine-developers ).
Steam would go the other way, $7.00 after $10million in sales (affects almost zero VR apps), $7.50 after $50million (it is likely no VR apps have reached this).
Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop, 15.6" Full HD, Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB SSD, GeForce GTX 1060-6GB, VR Ready, Red Backlit KB, Metal Chassis, G3-571-77QK https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y4GZS9C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_yjE5Ab3WS2GRB
I, too, am a teacher and recently purchased three vives and three of the above mentioned laptops. They’ve been great. My only complaint is touchpad sensitivity. GTX 1060 is plenty powerful for educational VR applications. Hit me up, would love to discuss and maybe collaborate on ideas for VR integration.
The Croteam bundle is the best deal at 83% off, as it has all Serious Sam games and Talos Principle for $35. Also, if you have some of the games already, usually you get an additional discount applied when you upgrade to the bundle.
Yes! I use my Vive in my living room, and my PC is upstairs in a separate room. There is no problem doing it this way, provided you have the right cables. I can't speak for the ones that you have linked, but I use this USB and this HDMI. It works perfectly, and allows me MUCH more space than I would have otherwise.
Amazon has it back in stock right now
~~EDIT: ONLY 4 LEFT AS OF 12:41 EST!~~
edit 2: They are gone. Restock next Thursday apparently
Just to address a few of your points:
Is the slowest setting too fast for you? I can decrease it if you like. I bought a pour spout for research but apparently it was shite haha.
I have not ever been a bartender and basically used recipes straight from Wikipedia so if you have a better recipe for a more "traditional" whiskey sour I'd gladly implement that as well.
"Dark n Stormy" is supposedly trademarked according to Wikipedia
The cool thing is, if you have a better idea for a recipe or would rather use a different glass, you can disable the original recipe in game, create your own drink, and it will then be a part of the game like any other recipe.
There's a lot to do yet, that's why it's in early access. You can check out the content roadmap for what I'll be adding soon. (Shaker, stirrer, etc). Basically there was a lot of comprimise in what is easy to do and what is realistic. I hope I can make this better for you in the future!
Instead of Audioshield, I'd recommend picking up either Soundboxing or Holodance. Both aren't as well known as Audioshield but are quite a bit better in my opinion. Audioshield was nice as a launch game but it's very bare-bones.
Soundboxing has a great in-game editor and uses user-created beatmaps instead of automatic ones. Currently my most played VR game and a great workout.
Holodance has a lot of customization and game modes with the developer pushing out lots of great content updates. It can do Osu beatmaps as well as Audioshield-style automatic beatmaps.
You need the 64bit Firefox on Windows and you need to go to a page that supports the WebVR API. There are a lot of examples here: https://airtable.com/embed/shr2Lc7pmlJis02R4/tblZbV2S0W0T5DDth?viewControls=on
I get downvoted by the fanboys for saying this, but my reasons for not supporting that store go beyond managing multiple storefronts. I don't trust Facebook related software at all
As an audio guy I can tell you that you don’t need a pop filter at all. You need a wind screen. I found one made for digital cameras that have a similar “mic hole” that it sticks around.

Hmm. I don't mind people buying assets... but at least customize it some. Here's the same asset in a more polished looking bowling game for android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alienweb.bowling&hl=en
I am buying/grabbing assets for a game myself, but I'm also making it my own, and wouldn't charge 20$.
She talks a little about VR in this interview: > (Music is) not intellectual, it’s impulsive. Virtual reality is a natural continuity of that. It has a lot of intimacy. As a musician to be intimate is really important. If you want to express certain details, it’s an opportunity to do that.
> It’s no coincidence that the porn industry has embraced virtual reality. The penetration is really intimate. It’s really exciting to place to be.
The new 4.14 release, it's a yesterday news so I'm pretty sure Survios want to upgrade his project to this one.
> Unreal Engine 4.14 introduces a new forward shading renderer optimized for VR, enabling crisp multi-sampled anti-aliasing in your games
If nothing else works, you may want to just waterproof your electronics with conformal coating. Take apart the Vive to get to the mobo, remove the mainboard, spray one side, put back the mainboard and reconnect, cover-up sensor connectors, spray the other side. Reconnect the sensors and put them back together. Of course, observe the drying times needed.
https://www.amazon.com/MG-Chemicals-422B-340G-Silicone-Conformal/dp/B008O9YGQI/

I never did it for a Vive. But that's how you waterproof everything else (super popular DIY for drones since they can crash into water).
It creates a thin silicone layer making it waterproof. It's pretty thin so it's not too hard on the electronics. It does make manually repairing it a bit harder though.
Since it sounds like you have a bunch of broken vives around you can even try spraying it on a broken one just to get the feel of the process.
Technically its more like 7.27TB after formatting
I worked on this project in the mid 90's. Huge counterweighted boom arm with a 3D display at the end of it that you held to your face with one hand.
VR requirements for this project - 10 FPS, response to user within .1 second.
It was pretty janky.
It are here on amazon for same price with free shipping.
Edit: US amz
If you have to use HDMI for your monitor, I'd say just get something like this HDMI to DP cable. It's less than $10 and you plug in HDMI into your monitor and DP into your graphics card. That's what I'm doing because I'm using the VR computer with a fairly old TV that needs HDMI input.
You can try Natural Locomotion, atleast for Skyrim. It adds armswinger locomotion.
It costs 8,89EUR, but there is a free demo you can try.
Using your body/feet as the joystick has been tried before, and it's generally super weird, and unfortunately doesn't mitigate motion sickness.
When it boils down to it, DDR-pad style locomotion would be normal smooth locomotion, except you've got one foot touching a button on a DDR pad in a way that's even less like IRL walking than just walking in place.
You might be interested in checking out Natural Locomotion - it lets you move in (almost) any game with smooth locomotion by letting you walk in place and measuring the slight natural swing of your arms as you take each step to give you roughly 1:1 IRL and in-game movements.
Hey man, if you're serious about getting into the stock game, I highly, highly, highly suggest reading The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham. If you're only going to read one book this is it. It's the investing bible by the guy who taught Warren Buffet and Jason Zweig who both wrote addendums to the chapters to bring it up in modern times.
It sounds to me like you're trying to chase things that have already increased in price based on public perception. It's a very risky game you're playing, and any gains will be mostly based on luck rather than insight.
Please read this if you get some time!
I'd suggest
> maybe an aircraft sim?
DCS World is free with 2 aircraft (you pay for additional aircraft).
For a more arcade-style flight sim, try War Thunder (free-to-play, optional micro-payments).
Both work pretty well in VR.
Pretty happy with how our sword smithing and assembly system is shaping up in Yore VR. Full tutorial vid was uploaded last week and can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcKr4WvJH9A
A couple more days left to save 25% during the Steam Sale as well so fill yer boots!
It's called Demon's Plague. It's a zombie apocalypse book, but unlike every other one it takes place in a semi-realistic version of Medieval England instead of a modern / military setting. When I say "Semi-Realistic," it means a low-fantasy world where the cities and characters are fictional, but the weapons, places, and technology are authentic or at least plausible within the setting. No magic, dragons, or other fantasy creatures. The zombies are heavily inspired by Max Brooks, no runners. I also did my best to avoid common tropes for the genre. Characters are intelligent and learn quickly how to handle the infected. And best of all, the story focuses on exactly zero children or babies.
It's available on Amazon now in digital and paperback.
$123 for a USB 3.0 PCI card? For my rift, I bought a card specifically recommended on the Oculus site for about $25 from Amazon. No tracking problems for me personally.
Oculus is engaging in business practices that are incredibly immoral and hypocritical, as outlined in the OP and the other front-page posts about exclusivity. They are also, in my opinion, actively destroying the growth of the one piece of technology that I am interested in at the moment: VR.
One definition of evil is "Immoral." So you can quibble about semantics and hyperbole all you want, but to me, Oculus and it's business practices are evil.
Gate health permanent display is definitely a good idea, it's on the list
Shooting up/down is also already on the list :)
Need a fire animation or something for the death of the fort, will be more flair eventually :P
Multiplayer stats are coming soon!
Posting again because there is more bullshit in games than there ought to be.
I was particularly grateful for the Alien Isolation page while setting up the MotherVR mod.
^Disclaimer: ^I ^have ^been ^supporting ^the ^development ^of ^Star ^Citizen ^since ^several ^years ^with ^several ^thousdand ^€
OT: No, it is definitely not in shambles. In my personal opinion Star Citizen is the victim of it's own (funding) success. SC currently has raised more than 190 million USD and thus expanded it's scope drastically. Its vision went from regular space-flight-sim to first-person MMO-Universe within a single-shard where you can land on each planet and moon you see in all the universe, seamlessless (no loading-screens).
It is still in alpha, multiple features and core-gameloops as well as core-tech (esp. regarding network-tech) are still in development. It has bugs and crashes and is definately no early-access-title. But, and that is why I continue to support the devs, they are exteremely transparent by e.g. showing their roadmap which reflects their active/closed Jira-tickets. I mean who does that? They listen to backers/players feedback.
It will take years before it's published and enters Beta status, but we can already dabble with it. It can be described as a live-game-environment withing active development.
As with all companies, big or small, the devs (Cloud Imperium Games) can fail. I simply hope they won't.
Hey, just a wild idea/question: When i see footage of your game i always asked myself if there will be something like a "story mode", something with real tasks. Because every time i see it, i think your game could be like “Papers, Please" in VR, very simple tasks at the beginning but it gets very tough later which leads to funny chaotic situations (and it has nice humor in it).
HTC is not repairing anything, they have hired independent repair centers like Dynafix or others to do repairs. Dynafix in europe is quite on the lower end of the customer satisfaction scale. https://www.trustpilot.com/review/web.dynafix.com they might not really be in touch with their replacement part situation and just ran out, or its something they just didnt have in storage, so they had to order it from HTC.
HTC hired similar "cheap" service centers all around the world to process damaged vives. people who sent stuff to "htc" for repairs always report mixed results.
I'm in a similar situation but heres an alternate to tape if you're interested, tripod mounts with clamps. Relatively cheap solution (there are other types out there too) and they fit and replace the standard mounts. I've been using them for 2 years attached to contractor's poles with no issues.
I got this after I punched the walls and ceiling a couple times. I don't need them anymore but they go back on anytime I show GORN off to guests.
(shameless selfpromo)
just uploaded our games there, just made it in time for the sale - cosmic trip, starbear: taxi

Hi! I'm active on game gifting subs, so I'll tell you a few ways you could go about it.
1) Make your own Steam account. Then buy the game and send it as a gift. You'll need his account added as a friend or his e-mail address ideally to send it. You can also generate a URL to redeem it I believe, but that's not often used. The important part here is to make sure it's selected to buy as a gift and not for your library. Otherwise it'll be stuck on your account and non-giftable. I've done this before when buying gifts and ended up buying a second copy of the game.
2) Buy a Steam code. You can go to a website that sells Steam keys, such as <strong>GreenManGaming</strong> or <strong>Amazon</strong> (US version linked). You can there buy a code, which he can redeem for the game.
3) Buy him a Steam Gift Card. Sold in gaming shops, some electronic shops and some supermarkets here. Availability varies based on country and area. He can redeem that for credit that he can spend on Steam to buy the game.
4) Technically you could just go onto his account if he's left it logged in and buy it with your payment method. May leave that method attached to the account though.
Except for option 4, you'd not need access to his account. If you wanted to install it and then delete the icon (it'll still appear on his Steam sidebar list of games), you'd need to be able to get into his account.
SCP Containment Breach has a 'monster' that uses the same mechanic (and actually hit the internet before the weeping angels episode). The character you play has a 'blink meter' which you can blink manually to refill, or it will automatically blink if it's empty.
Not sure what it would take to get this playable in VR, but it would be pretty scary.
Grab openhardware monitor. https://openhardwaremonitor.org/
Run it
Play a song or two on beatsaber, once it starts lagging take your headset off and tab over to it.
Check to see if it's system temps throttling.
Other thing to check is to make sure your vive's HDMI cable is plugged into your dedicated GPU and not your onboard. It's a simple thing people sometimes forget, even us tech savvy folks.
I had followed his Twitch streams for a few hours. He responded to my questions in the chat session. He actually tipped me towards pre-ordering the Vive when I was still on the fence.
The most influential posts are from his family and friends trying it out.
We use the same dual-grip resize feature in Universe Sandbox ² and you can also use a single grip button to move the entire universe around you.
Being able to scale the Earth from a 1:1 scale (true size) until it's a small little marble floating in front of your face feels magical.
Now I want to see huge city scale photogrammetry with things like Carmack/id Software's megatexture tech. Others are finally starting to implement it: https://www.unrealengine.com/blog/two-thousand-gigapixels-of-textures-anyone
First, no, you cannot use the wireless adapter with the VP2 without buying the correct cable and strap. This isn't new. It's the same if you attempt to use it with the Vive Pro 1 or the HTC Cosmos. The OG Vive used HDMI, which at the time, didn't have enough bandwidth to support the Vive Pro and Cosmos resolution. So you need to use the display port on the adapter.
Here is the Vive Pro 1/2 and Cosmos kit. (it says cosmos kit but, it fits both the Pro series and the cosmos)
https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Adapter-Attachment-not-machine-specific/dp/B0849S7FRN
Second, any battery that supports a true Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 is supported. Quick Charge 3.0 is 21w by default. So the older battery is likely just fine.... Most decent batteries put out closer to 25w but, some cheaper ones do drop to under 15w, so be weary of super cheap batteries that claim to support QC3.0
I use these. They're 24w and work perfectly. Fit in the same battery holder too.
They're actually on Amazon already, they dropped the 5ks on there last week or so
Here is the description from that page, not a big confidence booster.
cheaper here, http://www.dx.com/p/soft-sponge-spandex-3d-eyeshade-black-112558#.Vx699DCLTcc i can attest to its quality as an actual eyemask since i work nightshifts. hadn't thought of using it as a vr cover. delivery takes a while via this site though
Edit: Also on sale on Bethesda's website for $6.66, for anyone with GMG concerns.
Edit2: Bethesda's website has a character limit on the sign-in screen's email text field, so I can't log in. You just lost yourselves a sale, Beth.
I would say no chance as it probably runs at the universal windows platform, locked downed to the Microsoft store, running in an unmoddable sandbox with 60 fps lock.
Here is a article about it https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/mar/04/microsoft-monopolise-pc-games-development-epic-games-gears-of-war

Here is the US Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y2GDXMC It's not available for preorder yet, but you can ask to be notified. It lists release date as July 4th, even if they don't do preorders, I'd still probably get it from them sooner than via DR.

Same app. Two different stores.
Writing your app for iOS vs Android is more or less the same thing as writing your app for Oculus SDK or SteamVR. Actually, porting between Oculus SDK and SteamVR is way easier, but the point still stands.
If you're really paranoid about Valve shutting down the account, you can just use family sharing. As long as he isn't playing anything, you'll have access to all of the games on his account.
960GB for $127.50. Were almost there guys!
Why do you assume that the Vive has complete overlap while the CV1 only has partial? Do you suggest that the Rift has very poor depth perception? https://www.twitch.tv/giantbomb/v/57170410 at around 2:10 you can see the Rift rendering side by side. It's clearly overlapping way more than it does in your graphic.
Question 3: I would recommend both. If you have the time... Question 4: Unity3D has VR tutorials: http://unity3d.com/learn/tutorials/topics/virtual-reality There is also this: http://learn.vrdev.school/courses/vive-developer-mini but you'll have to sign up first.
Good luck.
Hey! So we're develpoing a two-player local co-op game that'll be released in June, it's called "Carly and the Reaperman", and basically one person is in front of the screen platforming, and the other person is in VR; both of you helping out each other to progress in the game.
We hope you'll find this exciting, because we're really excited about VR and we're hoping to bring the VR-community something new, fun and exciting to your library!
Carly and the Reaperman is on Steam, so if you're interested, please wishlist us so we can keep you updated! https://store.steampowered.com/app/547480/Carly_and_the_Reaperman__Escape_from_the_Underworld/
> I want to show them that there is alot of people that will buy their product if it supports the vive so they will decide to bump it up in priority.
Having used viveport for 2 years, it's really not that bad. Say what you will about the content, the software itself is much less abrasive and thunking when you install it. Since my favorite type of experience usually involves exploring some rich persons' apartment, the (well over a dozen) real estate showcase apps very much appeal to me. There's enough good free shit on there itself to warrant the install. It can also be useful to launch SteamVR and all that without steam running at all, if you're playing other third party apps, or stuff you download of itch.io.
Blah blah.
The HBO Silicon Valley experience is worth it.
I recommend unity by Ben Tristem, very good materials perfect feedback of comunity. http://www.bentristem.com/ Also consider udacity: https://www.udacity.com/course/vr-developer-nanodegree--nd017 But it didnt start yet
Cheers
Prey is also worth considering. It's only 7,97 € right now (you have to login and add it to the cart to see this price). The main game doesn't support VR, but the DLC "Mooncrash" will receive 2 free VR game mode updates called Typhon Hunter and Transtar VR later this year. So you would have to buy the main game and the DLC (15,99 € on GMG, but you can get it for ~13 € on other sites) to get the VR game modes.
did you disconnect the cables directly on the hmd as well?
http://www.drivethelife.com/uploadfiles/20160707/Check-the-HTC-Vive-USB-Related-Hardware.jpg
its the most stupid thing, but its mostly just the power or hdmi cable being disconnected in there
Okay, first you're going to need to download dnSpy. Here's the official Github page. If you don't want to compile it yourself, you can use my compiled version from here.
Open dnSpy, and then open the file "Assembly-CSharp.dll" located in your Steam directory\SteamApps\common\Job Simulator\Job Simulator\JobSimulator_Data\Managed. Look for "Assembly-CSharp" at or near the bottom of the list on the left. Expand that, and then "Assembly-CSharp.dll". Then expand "{ } -", and finally "SaveLoad".
Right-click the item that starts with "Save(string, SaveStateData)" and click "Edit Method Body". Under the Opcode column, look for the item that says "ldsfld". Click that, and change it to "ldc.i4.0". Click OK, then go to File, Save Module, OK.
Open Job Simulator and then do something that will cause the game to save. I haven't beaten the game yet so I don't know if there's anything that will update a save when you have, but if you haven't then just complete a single task and then exit. To verify it saved a decrypted file, press Win+R to open the Run dialog and enter "%AppData%\..\LocalLow" without quotes. Double-click "Owlchemy Labs", "Job Simulator", and then "User". There should be a file called "JobSimulatorSave.save"; open this file in Notepad. If you see XML, it's decrypted; if you see a bunch of gibberish, then it's encrypted and you should try again.
Go back to dnSpy, right click the item that starts with "LoadFullPath", and click "Edit Method Body". Once again, click "ldsfld" and change it to "ldc.i4.0", click OK, then File, Save Module, OK. Start Job Simulator and it should load the decrypted save.
Or you could, y'know, just go to Amazon and check the price for the Vive in USD ... which is gasp $799 USD!
There's literally 0 point in warping the math by starting with the already-marked-up-due-to-import-fees UK Vive and porting that dollar amount over to USD when the product can be purchased outright from a US retailer without converting a thing.
I ended up getting a two-pack of balaclava's from Amazon, they actually do fairly well at keeping the sweat contained.
I was actually browsing for them online while eating lunch at my desk and a passing co-worker who happened to look over my shoulder said, "please let me know before you come in to work with that on."
Hi, I'm using the Portal Case I made a year ago and so far that's perfect! I re used the foam from the original box to set up every thing inside and that's perfect to me.
https://captain-kiwii-stuff.tumblr.com/post/143762053100/asvis
I know there is some littles bags for vive on amazon, could do the trick too if you want something less "big" for the plane.
Hope it helps you.
Holodance supports auto generated beatmaps from local music as well. Youtube support for this is planned, but not available yet iirc.
Also worth mentioning:

Pants Pants Revolution - Virtual pants-ripping rhythm action. Okay, meme tracks, but legit game. Certainly not for everyone
Firebird: The Unfinished Release date: 27th April
More experience than games. But excellent if this is your kind of thing. Cheap too!!
Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin Release date: 19 April
An all-new adventure that takes players back into the mysterious and paranormal world of the Psychonauts for the first time in over ten years!
SoundBoxing : better than audio shield. User created content so there is always something new. I have 36 hours played for $8(Now $4). That's great bang for the buck.
> R/Vive tell us about your favorite Dev.
The Cosmic Trip devs are great.
Disclosure: I tried a blatant subtle hint to get a testers key prerelease, and /u/kalin was generous enough to let me.
The team is friendly, open, communicative, have an open Discord for anyone to chat to them, as well as an open Trello page for anyone to post bugs / ideas / issues / tips etc.
Great bunch of guys!
For the record, I ordered this headset from GearBest in China for $10.99 including shipping on June 14 and it arrived here in Atlanta, GA, USA on July 2. The face gasket I harvested from the device is a just a touch smaller than the wide gasket the came with the Vive, but it still fits the Vive without foam padding relatively well with small pieces of sticky-backed velcro (loops, not hooks) stuck to the back of the gasket. Here's a photo of the finished product. Note the lack of wrinkles in the gasket!
The fit is good for a slightly narrower face than mine, but it is otherwise comfortable. The surface of the gasket looks easy to clean. With this, I finally feel comfortable demoing my Vive for others. Thanks for the tip!
The Vive does go on sale. Lately, it has been $100 to $200 based on what you get with the bundle/coupon.
> Steam, the place where people look to buy the Vive, does not allow Vive reviews.
Is this particular to the HTC Vive? I thought this was the case for most hardware featured on Steam. Steam lets you review products you buy from Steam, and since HTC is responsible for selling the Vive, Steam can't verify that you purchased it. The Steam Controller and Steam Link, which are sold directly by Steam, do have reviews.
Also, to be honest, while shipping and customer service complaints are not entirely useless they're kind of annoying to sort through when you're just trying to figure out how good the actual product is. They're the bane of Amazon reviews. Especially if you're reading them months later or buying from a different seller, which makes the issues irrelevant.
I stand behind wanting Oblivion/Skyrim and I would be perfectly happy with Walkabout and normal dpad motion.
I've used walkabout in THIS game and contrary to popular comments, I found it more immersive instead of less. I would gladly walk back and forth all the way from Anvil to Leyawiin.
And I need source2 to come out so Garry can start on gmod2. I have almost 3k hours in gmod and I need that in VR, fantastic contraption does not do enough for me.
Average american bedroom is betwen 120 and 150 square feet, If you're a teenager stuck using your bedroom and "aren't allowed" to throw out furniture for gaming, if you have children or dogs and aren't willing to flail around blindly in the living room, if your computer is in room that doubles as a guest bedroom...these people probably have their computer in a room sharing a bed and a dresser, plus a computer desk.
The most common size was 2.5x5 meters. So, 8.2 x 5.6 feet. If you're confined to a 12x12 foot bedroom, that'e the width from the edge of the bed to the wall, with something in the corner of the room stopping you from using its full length.
I agree, it seems a very small space compared to what should be possible. I think the takeaway here is that the typical person isn't moving any furniture. They're simply plugging the headset in and using what they have.
They already do and have even released it in august ( https://minecraft.net/en/vr/ ), but they have decided to support only the Rift and, as far as I have heard, the control scheme seems to be a bit lackluster (maybe due to the focus on the Rift without motion controls, maybe they just didn't put enough effort in it).
Most people seem to prefer the inofficial Vivecraft mod by a mile.
That's correct. Windows Mixed Reality will only be compatible with the WMR headsets and controllers from our supported partners. Here's the list: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-mixed-reality
If you are already moving your PC then the Vive itself shouldn't be that much more work.
The standard equipment that comes with the Vive for mounting the lighthouses requires you to fix them to the walls/ceiling with screws but the lighthouses themselves detach fairly easily. So either buy yourself a second pair of mounts or use something completely portable like the alternatives described here. You might not be able to buy exactly the same mount but the bolt is pretty standard so there are plenty of cheap alternatives.
For reference, this was built using Project Tango's Constructor: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.projecttango.constructor&hl=en
There's a video of it functioning here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbG2KcbLLIk#t=40s
It's pretty quick.
Gabe Newell said that porting games to VR would not work well and new VR games is the better route to go. I think he's wrong because
1) It costs a ton of money to make all the assets for a new game
2) You can port an already successful game so it's less of a risk
3) People are willing to rebuy and replay a game that they love but in VR
4) VR is a small market now and it's hard to justify making a huge AAA VR game on it's own
5) Old games can run at high framerates on new hardware
6) VR makes old ugly graphics cool. Try COMPOUND demo
These are some of the reasons Skyrim VR is one of the best selling VR games of all time. It's awesome even when it's VR implementation is mediocre. My VR ports wishlist:
Bioshock, NOLF, Fallout 3, Black and White, Halo Combat Evolved, Descent 3, Mirror's Edge, Portal, GTA: Vice City, Ark: Survival, Evolved, Metro, Golden Eye, Perfect Dark, Warcraft 3...
There's like 3 ways out there. I was partial to this for fast on/off, just need a velcro loop: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipOO_UnQyWTHdbLQt9xD3YsArFJJTofSk3o_gjo7RmMgCYBt1Ng8Su-3jPluwMXzqw/photo/AF1QipNIbgd_44yOUNrAB8XqXpzeXmVpBEi0SAFQ-jBg?key=OHZBa0dfcks2VXRwbVpoVkJhVHFXWXNZVnZNTjB3
It isn't really 'basic' but have you looked at Tales of Glory? It's like Mount&Blade in VR. It isn't polished or perfect, but it's fantastic for what it is, and it's only getting better. Campaign is coming!
That isn't saber-y though. Just typical melee weaponry. https://store.steampowered.com/app/636970/Tales_Of_Glory/
Here you go. It would be easier for me to buy a Rift than to fake this: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipNJdnScixO_Jz_kH0H327eqTJ2TVFjYI1JAexk8IHOeEAhZmEw6PLucLbMxJhrdNg?key=MjRLaEgzNGtyU2JIWGRFVng5R1VZWU1qdUpqR1hn
I'm really curious how far you'll go to avoid saying those three little words: "I was wrong"...
I'm running it on Ubuntu and technically, it is totally free for a year with the tier I'm using. After your year is up, even running 24/7 this server will be roughly $10 a month give or take a buck.
It's fast as the storage is SSD and Amazon reliability is incredible. It requires knowing your way around Linux, FTP, Firewall configuration, that sort of thing so it's not for the absolute beginner that's for sure. There's other hosting options out there that just all FTP access and have a web GUI for all the Minecraft stuff, but that's not free for a year and will probably be around $8-15 a month minimum.
I can answer any specifics if you give it a go, just PM me. Get started here:
The dream for me would be basic mod support. Playing through something like Afraid of Monster's Director's Cut for the billionth time but in VR is what I've wanted to experience for so long.
Obviously can't expect it all to work perfectly, (especially when it comes to weapon models) but bare-bones support would be enough to blow my mind.
I kinda got it working in the original 2017 version, but AOM:DC requires some pretty tricky jumping so I couldn't get far. It was awesome though.
Ninja-edit: Must-have for me personally, probably a nice-to-have for everyone else though.
Congrats to the dude getting hired! Best of luck to them and I hope they have a long and successful career at epic.
That being said, I hope this isn't an Underhell Chapter 2 situation where like, the devs take on their own studio and the older project gets abandoned even though they say they're working on it.
I've seen great things end before not because the dev isn't interested in them anymore but rather because they can't find time for them in their new venture or they're contractually obligated to fuck their old project over.
In any case, they've earned this, well done to them.

Not confirmed VR but so far this looks like our best chance, being built on unity. For now I've been trying to get the original running in bigscreen efficiently. Apparently Alliance runs decently with vorpX as well.
Look at (VR tag at itch.io)[https://itch.io/games/tag-virtual-reality]. These are mostly demos from young devs, but you can sometimes find something good and interesting.
I'm pretty sure Gorn was there before it hit steam.
