It’s like I’m reading a diary entry...
Getting diagnosed is a great first step to momentarily “ease” the brakes of the ADHD mind. Right? After that validation of YOU and your struggle, you have a newer focus to attempt to empower yourself as you can.
Lots of great resources available—here’s what’s helped me the most:
Best to you!
Yes.
You're no good to content creators if you have a wide array of emotions to account for. In fact, you're no good to anyone trying to seize control of your attention. In the past we were all led by fear through Iron Fists, and in modernity we are led by greed disguised as fear of missing out. The only way to free yourself is to expand your emotional vocabulary.
Fear nothing but fear itself.
To start, check out the groundwork laid by Robert Plutchik on the Theory of Emotion, and if you're feeling adventurous, check out how it's been used to aide in developing AI to identify emotion.
Finally, use a journal like Daylio to help track your emotions.
I use an app called Daylio which I log my general mood, activities I was doing, and have sub-categories for any particular thoughts/feelings that I had at the time. Over a period of time, I can look at associations - activities/thoughts that occur frequently, the relationship with mood, etc.
It's also handy because I can export, print off and freak my GP out. I'm sure the psychiatrist might show some raised eyebrows, but then they've probably seen/hearing it all before...
I use an app called Daylio to track my mood. It's useful to see if dose changes or meds are making a difference. Also when I'm feeling hopeless it's hard to remember that I ever felt differently; I can open the app and see that most of last week I was fine.
I remember reading that most people who recover from BPD aren't taking meds anymore. My understanding is that meds can help with coping but to actually get better you need DBT. Which is annoying because (for me at least) it's taking a fucking long time.
There are many apps. I use an app called Daylio and it helps me a lot. Use it to organise your day, food, mood, exercise, assignments, goals and a whole lot more. Set reminders and deadlines too. https://daylio.net/
Daylio https://daylio.net/. It is commonly used in the forum. Free version is good, backups are optional. Charts and reports are clear.
You can tinker with the graphics and mood names to fit your particular way of feeling your emotions.
Just stumbled onto this thread and this comment, and since you like the moods attached to TickTick habits, I wanted to suggest an app you might love: Daylio. I use TickTick for to-dos, but Daylio is fantastic for habits. It's wildly customizable, and provides a great way to see, at a glance, how your moods and accomplishments and habits affect each other.
Sounds like a cool idea. I don't think this would be do-able with Todoist.
I use Daylio, it has similar features to what you describe: a "Look what happened last week!" and the same for each month and year. It shows statistics and what impacts your day and mood.
Let me know if that works for you! I'd be curious to hear how it goes.
I'm very late in commenting so this will probably not be seen, however, for those interested:
There is an app called Daylio which basically does this. It's highly customizable and you can attach photos and fill in activities done each day as well
I recently started using Daylio and it's such an amazing app! First app I have ever paid form. It is way cheaper than bearable, more optimized and much more ethical/private. Data doesn't leave your device (unless you wish you back it up). Really recommend it!
Unlike bearable, Daylio does not spam reddit with ads.
As a previous chronic pain patient, this chart was the most helpful in me assessing my pain properly. I also used an app called Daylio to journal my pain and mood.
Hey there, sorry to hear you've been struggling with the way you've been feeling on some days and despite being around others that you feel close to.
Someone else had suggested a mood tracker and I'd suggest the same too, particularly as you've stated you'd like to manage this yourself. This or this mood tracker app might be a good place to start.
I'd also consider factoring in how much any steroid usage may be contributing to this if you're currently using them and particularly if this wasn't as much of an issue prior to that:
> When an anabolic steroid is misused or abused, you may have withdrawal symptoms (such as depression, irritability, tiredness) when you suddenly stop using the drug. These symptoms may last from weeks to months.
i use daylio. it's branded as a mood journaling app, but it's incredibly helpful for low-spoons activity tracking.
the basic idea is that instead of writing long journal entries, which can be a barrier for a lot of people, you just assign common activities to buttons, then press that button when you did that activity. once you get your custom activities set up, journaling your day only takes a few seconds.
i have "activities" and groups of activities to track things like: basic hygiene, sleep quality, pain, medications, mobility aid use, physical symptoms, social interaction, errands, household chores, hobbies, etc.
tracking all these sort of things helps me when i'm having flare-ups. i can look back a the last couple days and identify where i pushed myself too hard. ("why am i too weak to get out of bed today? oh, it's because i swept the floor yesterday.")
the app creates statistics for your activity and mood trends. for example, my activities for "poor sleep" and "laundry" both show trends in preceding flare-ups.
i usually hate journaling, but this app has made it painless, and i've used it for four years now.
Daylio. A journal, activity, and mood tracker. Daily journaling helps keep me sane and course-correct when I'm not. Good analytics reporting and best reporting design I've found across multiple tracking type apps.
There are many forms of journaling out there. You don't have to just write a stream-of-consciousness summary of your day every time.
I recommend (in addition to seeing a therapist) doing some CBT worksheets to start. The Centre for Clinical Interventions in Australia has some great resources that helped me in the past.
You can also try some journaling apps. I recommend Daylio as a journal/mood tracker.
Another thing that helped me out after procrastinating on it for a year was the Self Authoring program. It's basically guided journaling designed to help you understand yourself better and create a plan for your future. Fuck, I'll even buy it for you if you really want.
Obviously you're trying to find a solution to your problems but posting here every day isn't a solution. Take a break from Reddit and just try some new shit.
Buenas, estaba en la misma hace un tiempo, se me ocurrió la misma idea pero revisé que no existiera porque todo lo que he pensado en mi vida ya existía, la que encontré fue esta: https://daylio.net/
Capaz te sirve para robar ideas.
won't help for past data, but my friend used this app https://daylio.net/ and really felt he gained useful insights from it.
you input both activities and mood, and it helps show you what activities contribute to what mood
Another tool you might want to consider is Daylio. It helped me discover that one of my medications was destroying my mental health.
I don't get anything from them for saying this, just a very happy customer.
Completely understand! I started using the Daylio app and it helps because that’s how the moods are broken out: rad, good, meh, bad, awful (all assigned to different colors). Super simple and like yeah, “caveman” emotions.
It actually helped me get MORE in touch with my moods because sometimes when none of those emotions quite fit, you’re able to create unique ones and assign them to a color.
So now I have access to tons of emotions I wouldn’t have been able to articulate months ago.
It also helps with visually seeing my episodes happening.
I’d attach a picture for an example but I don’t know how. Here’s a link to the app: https://daylio.net
