Or if anyone is on Android, I really recommend PocketCasts.
The free version is a great podcast app with lots of features (remove silence, variable speed playback, 30s skip, etc.). I listen on my desktop at work and being able to resume podcasts seamlessly from platform to platform works great for like $10/yr.
I currently use Pocketcasts, it is multi-platform but that now costs $10USD a year (I am grandfathered in from before they went to a sub model). It works well and does the job. People have a few gripes (e.g no folders for organizing, they want you to use filters. but it does the job). /r/pocketcasts
There is another multi-platform app which I may swap to (I have an account and it's loaded with a load of my subs but I've not made the full jump across yet) Podurama. They are still showing this on their main page "Early users get lifetime free data sync on unlimited mobile and desktop devices" so I presume it is still applicable. /r/Podurama
There are lots of others out there, but those are the two I have used with any sort of regularity.
I'll answer in reverse order.
Here are my current top ten audio dramas:
I use Pocket Casts Plus for any management and playback of audio files I own. It has mobile apps, including Android, as well as a browser-based Web app and native desktop apps. It syncs as well as Audible does.
Pocket Casts might be the app you need, based on your requirements
A lot of the big podcast apps offer advertising. We have done campaigns on Podcast Addict and Overcast and have seen way better results. The best part is that they actually show you how many subs you get during the campaign.

So far, we've had the best performance with Overcast.
I've had success with adding authenticated feeds through this page:

Just make sure to tick "Private" before you Submit.
I have used Pocket Casts for years. It's available for both Android and iOS. You can even stream via their web site. It will also coordinate between devices (I recently switched phones) and all of my subscriptions carried over and the podcast I was listening to (Glass Cannon, of course) was queued up at the last place I paused it.
It's been a while since I imported my personal link for the Patreon Glass Cannon Champagne Room link, but as I recall it was simple.
Pocket Casts. Habe viele kostenlose ausprobiert und dann doch die 9(?)€ dafür ausgegeben, ist schön übersichtlich. Für mich wichtig war noch eine Desktop App für Windows.
Download Pocket Casts and sign up with email (free). Get your private link from your Patreon email and go to this browser link. Paste your Patreon link on this page, go to the bottom of the page and it'll link you back to your Pocket Casts app, with a playlist and interface that looks like Spotify.
Required for me, I'm sorry I can't do Ray unless it's 2x speed lol sorry.
iOS podcasts are a mess, the app, the settings, it is not great BUT, they should be playing. Finally, I deleted the Podcasts app and went with PocketCasts. It plays in the background, no problems.
The audio lessons also play through in iOS 15.
I use Pocket Casts at some point it was for pay, but absolutely worth it. It's user friendly and intuitive, you have lots of customization options as well.
it has a paid version that offers sync in between devices.
Try it!
No clue regarding Pocket Casts. I tried submitting my podcast but it "failed" because "Podcast error: Html page found." Whatever that means. There's nothing on Libsyn to push it to Pocket Casts that I'm aware of.
<shrug>!
Pocket Casts has issues with private feeds. Per their instructions, you have to enter your Patreon feed into a submission tool which returns a different URL you must then paste into the app.
Both of these are multiplatform although Pocketcasts has a sub, Podurama may still be free.
Pocketcasts has "wrappers" available that act like desktop app
maybe pocketcast plus?
they have a free trial if you're interested. I did the trial and decided not to do a subscription at the moment but may end up back there at some point for the "Upload your files" feature
thye are free just ask alexa to play by name. for example "alexa, play planet money"
personally i use a service called pocketcast https://www.pocketcasts.com/ that for $10 a year keeps track of which podcasts i have listened to and supports everything from alexa to having a web site you can listen through
May I suggest pocket casts? Spotify is nice from a one stop place, but they're buying out and walling off some of the best podcasts. Also their interface for podcasts just isn't there yet.
I think it's because their service needs a manual input of the rrs feed so that it can prioritize it, once it's in their system it's not toto bad but ya it can be improved, regardless if you have the iTunes or the RRS submit hear and help improve the search:) https://www.pocketcasts.com/submit/
>to access the stored favorites on a profile I can log onto both windows and android.
if this means "cross platform sync" then https://www.pocketcasts.com/
but requires payment of either $1.19/month or $11.99 a year to use the web/desktop player
This worked for me with PocketCasts!
You just search your email for an email from Patreon with the subject "Here are some rewards to go along with your pledge to Kinda Funny", copy the provided the link (make sure to copy exactly, don't right-click and Copy URL), then go to https://www.pocketcasts.com/submit/, de-select Public podcast, paste the Patreon private URL from your email, then use the private link that PocketCasts generates for you to add it to your account. I use the default messaging app for those people I know dont use other apps, Telegram or Viner for those that use it.
I use PocketCasts for podcasts. If you pay a few dollars they even sync location and up next to their web player (and it syncs across all platforms). Well worth the money for me (I use android, iOS, and the webplayer)
For reddit I use Relay for Reddit. It works nice and the dark theme is great.
I'm an Android guy, which eliminates iTunes as an option, and I currently use Google Podcasts to listen to and manage my podcast subscriptions. (Pocket Casts might be more popular among Redditors, though.)

I don't have anything against Spotify, and your podcast sounds dope, but I don't want to have to download another app and create an account on another service just to listen to one podcast.
Personally, I like the following shows, in no particular order:
What I usually do, is load up a few of the podcasts into my preferred iOS app (Pocket Casts) and then scan the episode subject/description and decide if I want to listen to the show. I don't really follow the shows religiously, but rather look for interesting topics.
