It's almost impossible to brick a switch (unless you throw it in the water while powered on - roó hou, 2021). Don't buy a premodded one just an unpatched one. If you buy a already modded then I really recommend you to mod it yourself, otherwise you may be really confused as what does what and how to update things. There are many great guides and resources to learn from. I used the rentry.co guide. It's pretty easy to follow, sets you up with ban protection and sigpatches.

You need an unpatched V1 Switch. If you bought it before summer 2018, theres a good chance your switch is hackable. There was an oversight with the base switches that let you install payloads when the switch is in recovery mode.

v1 unpatched switches are exploited via a hardware issue wherein a payload can be injected into the switch when set into recovery mode, which is initialized by setting a jig in the right rail to press certain pins down and holding volume and power buttons at the same time...

if you're here and don't know what a jig is and what it's for, I recommend checking out all this subreddit's stickies, guides and wikis. because really before you get started, you need to read all of this guide from top to bottom. then a second time. and then a third.

like the title says, your goal is easy. but you need to be prepared and ready to handle everything before you get started, otherwise you might end up confused and messing up a step.

1) most people use an emunand to keep the real nand clean and unbanned. You can run cfw and install custom content on sysnand directly but it hurts the resell value and you won’t be able to use any Nintendo services, even the free ones. Also, having an emunand is safer since it’s a sandbox. If you install something meant to ruin your system, you can just delete the emunand and make a new one. It’s easier on the switch than flashing the nand to repair it.

2) you won’t be able to (and shouldn’t be able to) access the eshop on your emunand if you set it up properly. This includes not being able to use “free” titles online either. But if you ever need to, you can boot into sysnand and download any content you need.

3) firmware can be updated manually. The files are usually available on the internet a few days from release. Usually you don’t need them until moooooonths after since most games don’t actually need the new update if you’re installing them using Tinfoil installer.

Good idea, I think this is especially worthwhile for building a network outside the confines of Reddit.

After they took down all the other subreddits the typical user here lurked or posted on (chapo and cumtown mainly) I became concerned stupidpol would be next -- and I'm sure it will be gone soon enough -- so I began compiling some documents into a git repo which are essentially collages of anti-idpol comments from people on Reddit, mostly this sub. But reinx and sxos are no longer being updated. Also, I think NS atmosphere is just a black market paid version of atmosphere. Atmosphere has always been free for anyone to use and those people just take advantage of less experienced people. Once you get used to using setting up atmosphere on your own. It’s not too bad and very easy to keep updated.

XCI files are cartridge roms that can only be run with SXOS.
NSZ are are installable packages. There's no need to keep these after installing them.

This is some sort of a guide to torrent, I've never in my life have to torrent something before but this was so useful for when I first tried it, it was made by a mod in the Kaguya sama discord server btw.

Edit: download the episodes from GJM, they do better subs but so far they only have up to Ep 5 of season 2 cuz some technical issues.
