Yeah, me too. Aliens is one of my all time favorite franchises. If you want that feeling out of a game, the only two that have ever made me feel like the movies are I) the alien cooperative card game. This game truly captures the experience, because it’s a group game, and everyone starts out thinking because of that you’ll just run right through it. That’s what you think...
and II) to some extent, Alien: Isolation. Although since Isolation is a single player game it didn’t exactly give the entire oh shit group being whittled down to nothing horror experience. But being trapped in a locker while the xenomorph looks for you, yeah ...
I'm sorry for your loss.
I would recommend the Name in Game pack on steam, it lets you select the name/nickname and gender for the pawn name to generate with.
Its been a while since I did it, but you need to log into https://rimworldgame.com/creative/index.php after purchase and log in with the steam link on the page. That lets you submit the name, and should hear back after a few days if it has been accepted.
Bought DLC on rimworldgame.com now can't get a steam key, says:
"Apologies, we are temporarily out of steam keys. Please try again tomorrow."
What can I do? Is this normal
Sorry about that. This was a temporary (<30 minutes) problem related to the massive load on the server around release. It was never out of keys and you can redeem any time at https://rimworldgame.com/getmygame
Taking a guess by the look of it, it was some kind of paint pen.
I can't vouch for the quality of that specific product, it was just the first result.
Please just buy directly from. https://rimworldgame.com
The developer gets more money without giving steam a cut. You will also get to register it on steam so you can run the drm free version and the steam version to access the workshop.
"All versions can be immediately registered on your Steam account through the automated Steam registration system."
http://puush.me/ best screenshot tool imo. So easy, ctrl-shift 2-4 for window, screen or region capture. Auto uploaded with link copied to clipboard.
edit: Really? Link to a really useful tool that might help the OP and get downvoted?
Proportionally though its not a good comparison because the 'standard' size of a game back in the day was tiny anyway.
I always find it insane how quickly games have ballooned in size in the last 25 years...Early-mid 90s was a few Mb per game, late 90s to early 2000s was 500Mb-1Gb and now nobody bats an eyelid at 30-50Gb per game, that's like 10,000-20,000x bigger than 25 years ago.
Brogue (Open source Rogue, https://sites.google.com/site/broguegame/home) has been my go to for a long time as a timewaster, spend an insane amount of time playing that game and its both free and about 1.5Mb as a standalone with the extra unneeded files stripped. (3Mb without)
In the Advanced Tab (the one at the bottom of the screen you get when you're on the planet screen before you start a game) there's a bunch of options. Just click it. It has options for you to go for:
... Although these last two might be from a mod I have (but I really don't know, I haven't played vanilla in years) I'm pretty sure that at the very least 325x325 is in the base game as well.
It can be a little frustrating to get into it, but trust me, it is worth it.
Issue is, Rimworld has a lot of small things that are easily missed by newer players, that can significantly influence the welfare of your colony. It can be pretty tough to understand at first, but you should be able to get the hang of it fairly quickly.
You get a lot of playtime for the $30 you spend. The game doesn't have a linear story, events are generated by the storyteller AI, so you can play it over and over again, and no two games will ever be the same. It's great in this sense, because while the same skills and strategies are applied to most smaller components of the game, the way they mix and interact requires every colony to be different.
It's really a great game. If you decide to get it, make sure to get it on the official Rimworld page. This will give you both a DRM-free copy AND the Steam version, plus buying it from here means more money goes to the developers, helping them create more awesome content.
Even if you decide against getting it at this time, make sure to bookmark it somewhere, as it really is a great game, and you could always buy it in the future when money isn't so tight.
Downvoted for a genuine opinion given respectfully with no personal attacks, on a topic that the creator of the game has expressed concerns about.
Buy it on Ludeon. You can use their tool to get also a copy on Steam: *All versions can be immediately registered on your Steam account through the automated Steam registration system. *
I don't think I've ever sat on a bean bag that had foam in it, they all had round plastic beads. individually hard but moved, thus comfy.
Sorry I didn't really read the discription on amazon just grabbed an example, Here's one with beads https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B015UK85EW/ref=sspa_dk_detail_3?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B015UK85EW&pd_rd_wg=GFK0W&pd_rd_r=E4QXT5487CZ6137KQV6P&pd_rd_w=U26WO
According to SteamSpy, RimWorld has ~700,000 players. This subreddit has ~50,000 subscribers, Psychology has ~20,000 subscribers on the Steam Workshop, this thread has 3 comments about the mod being broken, and 4 upvotes. Last I checked, the fix on the forum thread had 15 downloads, 4 of which were from me.
I did fuck all to the popularity of that broken fix.
Where in my comment did I spread misinformation (at the time of posting).
Also note how I made sure to inform the reader that it was a user-made fix, meaning it would not reflect poorly on you, or the mod.
What does reflect poorly on the mod, is the mod being broken for just over 12 hours.
And what reflects poorly on you is the contemptuous tone you have been directing at me. Completely dismissing a user's qualms. And getting angry towards users rightfully reporting that the mod is broken.
So, please stop villainising me for informing people when there was no official response.
Ahhhhhhhhh. You should play DF. It's free from their website. http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/
Be warned, theres a hot and heavy learning curve. You can get a Lazy Noob Pack (LNP) which give you a lot of QoL stuff and easy use tile sets (texture packs) however. I would suggest going vanilla for a bit, but not too long or you may get put off.
If you end up liking it and playing I'd suggest donating them some cash. Or wait until the steam release. It'll be way, way more user friendly. I think all rimworld players will enjoy it and the modding community will have a lot to do.
/u/TynanSylvester here as promised.
Now, I've just noticed that I forgot to label some of the Forced Miss Radius Weapon's DPS lines (human error), so here are the missing ones in order from top to bottom:
Explosive Mortar
Frag Grenades
Incendiary Mortar
Inferno Cannon
Molotov Cocktails
Important Notes:
DPS figures aren't indicative of an incendiary weapon's performance due to fire's effective disabling ability.
Security weapons (i.e mortars, turret gun) have their installed warmup/cooldown times (e.g. 0/5.15 for turret gun) factored in here.
All forced miss radii + blast radii are taken into account for the forced miss radius weapons
All figures are around hitting a single tile, as opposed to a group. So this is by no means indicative of dealing with crowds or anything; just a single target
Single-use weapons (i.e. the rocket launchers) don't have their cooldowns factored in for DPS as they won't be re-used.
I skimped out on the skilled forced miss radius CSVs to save time; only using 182 instead of the full 270 generated.
Seeing as the data can go a bit spaghetti at times, you can download the source CSVs here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vxnlx12u7mt3v3x/RimWorld%20Weapon%20Graphs%20CSVs.zip?dl=1
With these CSVs, you can mix and match desired sets of data on a graphing tool of your choice such as Excel or Google Sheets. I used Plotly (https://plot.ly/create/) to create all of these graphs. As previously mentioned, you're not going to be too short of diversity with a whopping 270 to pick and choose.
Paint.Net is free, and a good step up from MSPaint too. With the added benefit of layering and some good default adjustments and effects, and its own plugin support for user-made plugins.
I wouldn't normally encourage the use of CNET, but here's a Download.com link, as the advertising on the application's parent site often loads up those fake download button ads to confuse the user.
This name isn't in the database - you probably want to check the status of it on rimworldgame.com/creative
You can also email [email protected]
Note that as a matter of policy we don't allow people to put Internet handles into the game since it's too distracting. The guidelines on the site above have more info.
That sounds stressful. I'd stop checking.
Rimworld's bright and cheerful art assets in conflict with its gritty subject matter have become iconic, and the game's following is probably too large to re-invent the art style at this point. Nor is it needed; I like the style.
Compare it with Factorio, another mid-priced indie game with a small team and a large following. Factorio has the gritty style you prefer, and a professional artist on staff, but ... I think it's ugly. And I don't care; I played 500+ hours of each game.
Yeah, you'll just have to save. It will never go on sale.
Also, buy the game on the dev's website. More money goes to him and you still get a steam key.
(Link off ludeon.com)
Sounds like you want to check out "DDMM - Dual Display Mouse Manager"
It lets you configure when the mouse can move onto the next screen, only when the ctrl key is pressed and/or after you keep the mouse trying to move over for a time.
Directly from the kickstarter page here
>It looks a lot like Prison Architect. What's up with that?
>Blame my (Tynan's) lack of art skill - especially with characters. I made the character art you see in the trailer as a stopgap, and borrowed the Prison Architect style because I'm not a good enough artist to develop a new one. They were never intended to be final. With this Kickstarter, we'll be able to get a real artist who can sit down and develop an original style for RimWorld.
>I've talked with the original Prison Architect artist, Ryan Sumo, and he's fully supportive of RimWorld. We didn't share any art or code with the PA guys.
If the art style bothers you but you want a game with even more detail put into everything with a much larger scale, AND FREE, try Dwarf Fortress. Guaranteed not to have any silly worm-people graphics!
You need Progress Renderer, then you could use something like EzGif (or Photoshop) to merge the renders.
And if you do try it this way, and you happen to enjoy it, purchase the game on the dev's site! Gives the money to Tynan in full, and you can still redeem a steam version using the "automated steam registry system"!
If you're into automation (a huge ass factory that produces everything with no human intervention while you fight aliens and find more resources for the huge ass factory to grow), it's more addictive than crack.
Give it a try, their site offers a free demo.
It's under \Mods\Core\Defs\ThingDefs_Items\Items_Luxury.xml .. for some reason.
Those bases are really defined in the weirdest of places. It'd be nice if all of them were grouped together or had their own file.
If you change it from there, then it'll most likely affect everything that has that 75 stack limit.. which is a lot of items. Since medicine and meals have a limit of 10, I'll leave you to find where those are defined. Just use some kind of text search program like astrogrep and it'll be a piece of cake.
Yes you can. "Xfce has its own screenshot tool, <strong>xfce4-screenshooter</strong>. It is part of the <strong>xfce4-goodies</strong> group."
There is a list of modules on the kickstarter page that are tentative.
For simplicity, here is the image.
edit: accidently words
You need to go here: https://rimworldgame.com/getmygame/
Enter your email address you gave when you purchased it, follow the link you're sent, choose Ideology for the "sign in through Steam" option and it'll be added that way
>HE IDEs
From now on when someone complains about Eclipse crashing I'll advise them to stop using explosive IDEs.
(What you were probably looking for was IEDs, or improvised explosive devices.)
"Decent killbox design" can be as simple as "a line of sandbags with good sight lines," which works fine with open-plan bases. That's not really AI cheese so much as it is Battle Tactics 101. You're not depending on particular routing calculations, forced pathing, or anything else at that point, just on The Art of War levels fundamentals (control the battlefield, etc.).
Here are the system requirements for Mac from Steam:
Minimum: OS: OSX 10.5 Processor: Core 2 Duo Memory: 2 GB RAM Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000 with 384 MB of RAM Storage: 500 MB available space
I also like to use http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/rimworld/13585 assuming you're currently using the computer in question. I've heard Rimworld does not run great on some laptops that are meant to be used as netbooks but I dunno if it's been optimized better since then. Some people have reported lag if there are a lot of explosions/fire on screen but that doesn't happen often. There are no graphics settings in the menu. Mine runs beautifully with no lag on my old, crappy computer. For reference, here's my specs:
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33 GHz 2.34 GHz Memory: 8 GB RAM Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 120
And I'm running Windows Vista. Good luck! I played prison architect for ages and this game is just like it only better imo :).
Others mentioned monitor brightness, so I should add: I'm using f.lux, which adjusts the color temperature of everything, including RimWorld, when the sun sets IRL. I also keep my monitors' brightness at the minimum, and the contrast around 50%. I do get eye strain on lots of setups, such as monitors at work that are way too bright. But with this, I haven't had any problems.
Kovarex initially started the project in Java (Just like Minecraft) but after realizing that the game would be very computationally demanding he reimolemented it in C++. This happened super early on (12 days after the project started), you can read about that here: https://www.factorio.com/blog/post/fff-184
The main difference being that Java is a memory managed language, its easier to write code in it but also slower. Its also easy to port games over many systems because you only have to write it on one system, a virtual system, the JVM. Everything else is handled by that. But these extra layers do make a large performance overhead. RimWorld is written in C# which is very very similar to Java (It is literally started as a Java clone at Microsoft)
tldr: C# Java (High level languages)- Easy to program but rather slow code, C++ (Low level languages) Hard and slow to program, if done right its damn fast.
Have you tried the Pomodoro technique to help you focus? https://today.duke.edu/2020/08/formula-better-manage-your-time
I highly recommend not using your 5 min break for video games, as we all know how that turns out. What helped me when I was unemployed was setting a specific goal each day on the amount of jobs I would apply for, and THEN launch Rimworld or w/e. Don't beat yourself up too much for slipping up either, just get right back on the job train.
It has to be related to that dwarf fortress bug where cats died bc they got drunk by cleaning themselves : http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/mantisbt/view.php?id=9195
>If you did a graph you could probably find the intercept for optimal number of colonists to use autopistol vs shortbow given a 4000 exp survival goal.
It's really complicated by the fact that each colonist has different shooting skill and probably slightly different weapons. Also, we'd have to figure out how much damage a prisoner takes on average before being incapacitated.
I made a graph, but it's a huge simplification based on some very rough estimates/assumptions. 1. 100 damage to incapacitate a prisoner. 2. Weapons are awful quality, at 20% hitpoints remaining. 3. Weapons are being used at 1 tile less than their max range. 4. All shooter have roughly the same per-tile accuracy. 5. Shooters have no passion for shooting. 6. Clear weather in daylight.
The y-axis is the max number of colonists that can train on one prisoner and still have them all get 4000 exp. The x-axis is the per-tile accuracy of your colonists. Red line = Autopistol Blue line = Short bow
From this graph, it looks fairly easy to train larger groups on a single prisoner, but this is under optimal conditions.
This second graph is under less optimal conditions, but is maybe more realistic. Weapons are only damaged to 50%, and are 'shoddy' instead of 'awful'. Shooters are 5 tiles from max range.
Side notes: Smokeleaf reduced the per-tile accuracy of a healthy colonist with 6 shooting skill and no traits from 95% to 93.8%.
A stoned, 1 shooting skill colonist had per-tile accuracy of 87.6%
Why am I doing this? I'm supposed to be doing a physics assignment :D
If you bought it but never submitted a name I would you should still be able to submit it. You may need to contact Ludeon/Tynan though as I can't recall what the submission process is.
I think this is relevant.
Nope. From their website:
>RimWorld follows three survivors from a crashed space liner as they build a colony on a frontier world at the rim of known space
It's a world literally at the rim of known space. A Rim World.
Whoops, my bad, yes it is $30! I remembered it as $40 for some reason. Same comments apply, I'll correct above.
DF definitely does itself no favors with its UI and controls. Every time I go back to it I have to re-teach myself certain things, and it's pretty annoying until I get back into it. Once you get over it it's pretty engrossing though.
The level of detail in that game is just ridiculous though. Especially what he did with the machine / power / lever / trap / water / lava systems. But everything really. I remember the first time I noticed that a wall engraving dwarf had made all his engravings about his dead wife and the goblins that had killed her! (And check out this awesome bug report which wouldn't even be considered a bug in most games.) I hope that level of storytelling and character development comes to RW.
I might have stumbled upon an alternate answer to this problem...

I will provide updates once I grab it.
The only game I can think of is the FPS .kkrieger at 97kb. Edit: It's not 100% generated from code I think because it mentions using MIDI data, but I guess all the content you actually see/hear is generated.
The "characters on a spectrum" idea made me think of a chart like this: http://www.chartjs.org/samples/latest/charts/area/radar.html
Instead of months the chart would display concepts, and each point reflects the colonist's opinions (positive or negative) on the concept. This would drastically change the game though since things wouldn't be so black and white. Instead of traits like prosthophile and prosthophobe, your colonists have a range under which they can fall. Same would go for cannibalism.
I made one real quick for you: LessInfestations
I reduced the base chance from 3.0 to 1.0 and I also raised the event cooldown to a minimum of 30 days instead of 20 days so you'll get them less often, and even if RNG hates you and you get another one as soon as the cooldown for the event is over, at least you will have more time between the infestations.
Let me know if there's any problems with the mod, I'm new to this but willing to openly help people out with their needs.
Sort of... Here is the list of proposed modules from the kickstarter page.
There are also the rewards on the kickstarter page that should be implemented (pirate kings and item designers) that will take some work.
I don't think it's even being made anymore and it's ultimately a massive troll because me and my SO as well as a few native japanese speakers spent a few days scouring obscure Japanese websites and forums looking for it and while we did find some rimworld mod sites that were in Japanese they were ultimately deadends as the mod wasn't on there.
If Lost Forest does still exist it's so well hidden that not even actual Japanese players can find it.
If you want to look for yourself you can use https://www.deepl.com/translator to potentially comb through. The auther did say it was published in China so you could go that way and find it perhaps.
Well, the best I can give you at this point in time - or better; the only thing - is this here: https://rentry.co/2cngr
It's the last thing I played around with, but it's a <500 list and I really can't say for sure in wich state - it's simply the last thing I have set in RimPy.
That aside;
> so you argue your mod list is a stable and better one?
I don't think I've actually made this claim. The main point of my post was that throwing together 1k different mods just for the sake of raising the mod-count is a rather retarded thing to do and that quality outweighs quantity in most cases by far.
> Conquerer 1086AD
Apparently it's abandonware now, so anyone can play it for free. http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/3509/Conqueror+-+A.D.+1086.html
Looks like a really old Mount and Blade: Warband.
For anyone who is interested, here is the bug report on the bug tracker.

I imported the screenshot made with the progress renderer mod into Krita. Next, I created a vector layer with the text. You need to install the XKCD script font if you want the same style. Finnally, I added a normal layer and painted the lines pointing to the text by hand. Export as JPG and post :) Of course you don't have to use Krita - any image editor like Gimp or Photoshop will do. Heck, even MS Paint may work.
They really weren't taken care of in the courts. The FCC tried and was sometimes partly successful but several times their decisions in favor of NN were reversed in the courts. Designating ISPs as common carriers is what do alot gave the FCC authority to enforce NN, before that was a lot of uncertainty. You should read the Wikipedia article.

Just food for thought:
Stonehearth (http://stonehearth.net/) are on Steam but are a "private" game that isn't purchasable nor is it even displayed in the store anywhere. However, they sent out Steam keys to their backers and push out their game updates through it. Gives them the advantages of having Steamworks, updates, beta/test channels, etc. without the pressure of having a flood of users buying the game without thinking it through with it being in an Alpha state
A lot of people are quick to shoot this down, but I feel like Open RTC2 has proven that games like this can really work well as co-op. I'd love to play long distance with my significant other and would be more than happy to deal with some oddness in gameplay to do it.
If you haven't already, definitely try out OpenRTC if you're at all interested. I think a solution to deal with the time (choosing the lowest of the selected settings) is a great idea. Doing this right would be an undertaking for sure, but look at Stardew Valley.
In Stardew while the devs are still working on perfecting the true multiplayer, modders managed to get out a pretty decent 'lets just put two avatars in the single player scenario and let them do their thing' sort of mod that allows for a rough multiplayer experience.
If Rimworld took hints from OpenRTC2, though, we could see a pretty cool permissioning system with the possibility of a human story teller as well, giving someone the ability to both administer the scenario and possibly play in it as well.
I normally direct people to https://rimworldgame.com/ let them watch the video and then read the page. after that every person I've showed the page to has purchased the game
I'll try to clarify:
I bought the rimworld and the expansions from the official site: https://rimworldgame.com/
I received the email with the download links, but the links provided in said email still point to v1.3.3066.
I have not received further emails for the v1.3.3067 patch
So how can i download v1.3.3067 ? I would really like to play with the last fixes
RimWorld is a story generator. Just because that's the story you want doesn't mean everyone does.
More and more ways of choosing what story you want the game to tell have been added over the years. You can choose which storyteller, difficulty level, biome, and built-in scenario to pick. You can choose whether to play permadeath or to reload when something you don't like happens (what this whole post is about). If that's not enough, scenario editing and dev mode (and mods) mean you can cheat to do nearly whatever you want.
OP can avoid malaria entirely by playing in a hot or cold biome instead of a moderate one (temperate forest, tropical rainforest).
No, Tynan is strongly against sales during early access. I don't want to misquote him but I think one of the main reason is it creates a ton of people buying it just because its cheap, then giving it a negative review because its early access. I've seen that happen with other early access games.
All that said buy it from the website https://rimworldgame.com/ and you still get a steam key and DRM free version the company makes more money from it.
OBS is free and works great. You might want some editing software. I recently used Lightworks (also free), but I haven't used it enough to be able to recommend it. It did what it had to do.
I'm not an expert at all when it comes to translating RW but I recently tried and learnt some things:
-This tool - RimTrans - can do most of the works for you - Except the actual translation ofc ;-D
-This translation site - DeepL - seems to make well phrased translations, at least for French-English translation. I'm not fan of automatic translator and it's always required to re-read, but I was positively surprised by this one.
Hope the best for your project
Website looks neat :). Although I would recommend to enable gzip compression on the web server ;). Or you could install the Pagespeed module for apache?
> Besides, up to this point many serious mod creators make their money from donations, and some have stated elsewhere on /r/Games that they prefer donations rather than pay-per-mod.
True, and I'd be happy to see some of the better ones get on something like Patreon to receive recurring support payments/donations.
I don't see any problem with giving people the freedom to determine their business model. Why get upset if some people want to sell piecemeal rather than rely on donations, rely on patrons, or just give it away for free?
On windows, you have to choose between Notepad++ , SublimeText or Atom.
I tend to prefer SublimeText but it's totally subjective. Notepad++ is the less "intimidated" if you ask me. I used it almost a decade before swiching to SublimeText because I'm coding a lot and I was needing more specific tools. (my screen while modding - this is SublimeText)
If you don't know which, just go with notepad++ :D
wanted to play this game again after a year.
updated some mods and downloaded some cool mods too. mostly QoL stuff.
not sure why i can't right click stuff to save my life.
no dropdown menu options on the things i click.
error log of my mods here.

Extracting skill values would actually be as simple as measuring the width of the skill bars and comparing to the maximum of 20. As for text (age, traits etc.), there's a great open source OCR app called Tesseract which can be called from the command line. At least that's the approach I took when cheesing myself some "perfect" colonists. Also, OP's post explains why decent cooks are so damn hard to come by.
You could also look into drawing monitors (much cheaper than a laptop) if you already have: a desktop computer, a spare hdmi port on your graphics card and a spare usb slot. But don't be like me and make sure you have the space for it on your desk. Like a lot of space. And maybe a laptop stand so it doesn't cook itself and your hand. Make sure you have space. Very important. Space.
cata dda adnroid version its not like rimworld but you may like it

I'm still waiting for ANY modder to create the PorTable mod. A stuffable portable table should be easy to make, AND they do exist IRL.
Difficulty scales based on Wealth. You don't need to build the entire ship. You can build JUST the reactor, power it in, survive the 15 days of attacks, and then construct the rest of the ship at your leisure. That assumes the reactor survives the 15 days of power up.
Here is one example of what occurred when a ship was powered up. You want to be able to complete crush raids. You want to be able to completely crush raids in multiple ways. If one form of defense is currently non-functional another type of defense would be able to handle it.
For example, active fighting, spike traps, sentry trap killbox, melee fighting chokepoint, animal reinforcements.
Allies may come to your aid. You also may be able to use the Comm Station to call in allies at a specific point.
Here is a Google Photo high res image of my colony after 15 days at Merciless difficulty. I was not prepared. Many of my defense systems were far from ideal. I did survive, though.
That is a great question, that Tynan has stated he is, but we as consumers only have his word for it.
He has demonstrated many of the warning signs that are common among indy developers who have burned out and are looking for a new project...
And looking at his work history, the timing is correct...https://www.linkedin.com/in/tynansylvester
That reminds me of the Thug Kitchen Cookbook, and while I've never bought it, I would hope in at least one recipe there's directions like "Beat the chicken like it owes you money'.
If American decisions were rational enough at the national level to be for the sake of securing resources then we would actually put effort into setting up stable puppet states. Looking at the evidence I am convinced American interventions are almost entirely about domestic politics and have almost nothing to do with actual national interests. (They intervene if they think it will have a net positive effect on the political positions of the group they care about (either themselves or the party) within the timeframe they are operating in.)

ProtonVPN doesn't keep your data as at least it claims. If doesn't sell your data secretly, it's safe. The downsides of its free version is that you can connect only through US, Netherlands, and Japan. Many people trust it. If someone uses it and knows that is not safe, I will appreciate if he/she tell me.
naw, all the major vpns were recently bought out by a malware company who just changed their name. (they also bought a bunch of vpn review sites.)
the only major vpn they DIDNT buy is Mullvad VPN. i just switched to them a few months ago for this exact reason.
I got this thing! It's super sturdy and helps a lot, and looks nice to boot! I recommend hanging the middle lower than the sides, or else you have problems with the front of it sagging and guys falling out.
Decades of watching anime have taught me that you can adapt clothing to all kinds of body shapes, including monsters, foxgirls, transforming shapeshifters, etc. just hope the clothes don't become sentient and try to take over the world.
500 mods, nice. Here's an XML of my mod list exported from Rimpy Mod Manager.
https://anonfiles.com/ndW0o6Z2uc/Test_xml
I saw you mention Empire and SOS2 (I assume it's Save our ship 2), I don't have the latter but I'll disable Empire and see if that does anything.
Also happy cake day.
To be fair with /u/RMuldoun (who I happened to know a bit) he already explained me he can't do it personally. It was more a taunt and a way "to be remembered of" for me. ;-)
In fact I was meaning to "just" keep BMing guides from here (something I already do, regardless) and organizing them a bit. Not only mods list (even though it is something I already did :-p back in the days ...) but all kinds of guide/information, etc.
And yes it will be nice if folks like you, could participate (Noticed I don't let you the choice ? :p )
You can also buy it directly from the game's creator. If you do that then all the money goes directly to Ludeon Studios without Steam taking a cut, and you still get a Steam key you can use to download it from Steam and access the Steam Workshop. Everyone wins (except Steam).
The dwarf fortress bug is spreading. http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/mantisbt/view.php?id=9195
But more seriously, if you have drugs of any kind, have a separate storage for them on the opposite end of where most of your colonists are. At the very least make sure it is surrounded by food so that the food is closer then the drugs.
anyone who doesn't use Colony Manager has sinned for Randy shall now unleash the hell known as The Chain of Death: Psychic Drone -> Psychic Ship Crash -> Bonded Animal Death -> Berserk -> Raid (Center Drop Pods)

Side Note: While I love Colony Manager, it could have more capabilities, much like the Dwarf Fortress feature by the same name.

(Check Out Dwarf Fortress, like Rimworld but super complicated)
10$ is absolutely worth the comfort and ease of mod installation/maintenance. You can live without it, but the 10$ is money well spent that will provide you with a lot of value.
And this is just a personal opinion but were it not for the workshop integration, the place to buy Rimworld would be GOG.com, not Epic. Even considering the coupon value.
Acer is a good brand to check out as they are solid budget computers, its a little above your price point at $750 you could probably get it for 650 on sale. It tends to gets a little sluggish if you're pushing a hundred mods or so, This was the old laptop I used before upgrading.
Acer Nitro 5 $750
Lenovo $675
On this website you can check price of the game on different site's platforms

You might need to choose your country on top left.
Here's my base. Dining/rec room is always in a central location. Hallways are 3 tiles wide for easy infestation defense. Living spaces are zoned in 2x3 blocks and growzones were created in circular formations so I can quickly roof off the area and set up sunlamps in event of toxic fallout or winter growing needs.
Well, for starters I'd try the default crash landed scenario before you try with only a single pawn, at least just to learn a bit.
Try to keep your defense spending high, as your wealth increases the raids and events will get tougher so you need to spend some of that wealth on security.
Try to get crops and medicine going asap to deal with any injuries or diseases much more quickly. Try not to spend all your best medicine on bruises and scrapes early game, get some herbal medicine for that until you can afford to make better medicine.
Don't build everything out of wood, in b19 raiders will try to light fires rather than just attack you sometimes, and zzt events and lightning can all cause serious issues if you only have a few pawns to handle the fires.
Try this for effortless screenshot sharing https://getsharex.com/
Its pretty damn convenient and allows you to upload and share any screenshot with one hokey.
If you're a Windows gamer, snipping tool is included for free in Windows, and lets you select an area to capture.
If you're a Mac gamer, Command Shift 3 takes a screenshot of your entire display and saves to your desktop.
I personally recommend GIMP as a free, cross-platform image editor to crop screenshots.
So first sorry, I was without internet for my house for about 2 weeks (they had to run a new line and needed a 20ft pole between the street and my house that I had to put in myself), and I wasn't confident taking a picture with my phone (since those seem to get downvoted into oblivion fast).
So here is a link to my newest colony with their blossom tree "garden" behind their bed and two small Hyperweave flower gardens at the front (I used the Terraform Rimworld mod to be able to place the rich dirt in specific spots), it's surrounded with small slate pebble floors (from one of my many floor mods, I think I have like 4 or 5 of those, my floor's tab nearly takes up the whole screen when opened), and quartz small brick flooring for the main pathway.
Also found a slightly more efficient method for putting down the trees since they need 1x squares of space between plantings so I just made 3 1x1 grow zones at spaced intervals and that keeps the planter from accidentally putting one tree down in the wrong spot preventing a 3rd tree from being planted and I feel the small slate pebble flooring between each tree reminds me of some trees at parks where they have their one spot their growing from surrounded by some nice looking stonework, then your pathway. Mini-gardens around bedrooms
I think that I messed with the size of the map and land coverage and just made the world large and zoomed in on a spot I liked and just screen shot it when it seemed a bit more flat. Never got it flat though and not for the whole world.
I did find a good map generator though: here
You can play a demo version of Kenshi for free anyway. Direct from their site. https://lofigames.com
There is a skill level cap and a limit on some of the available things, but the limitations are way beyond the scope of "try before you buy" and if you're getting to that point then you really ought to be buying the game.

The one thing I disliked about Kenshi was the lack of any direction/meaning. The only goal in the game is to not die, anything else you want to do is up to you.

You can read about this at the end of the Ideology page.
People had been saying things like "when I win the game, I want to bring my colonists to a new planet and start over" for a long time. This is a victory method that does let you start over, unlike the previous ones that are just "game over, you win, here's the credits song".
Yep. You can have a whole group of people who are not psychopaths, but don't care about corpses. You can have people who actually prefer to live in darkness. You can...All sorts of stuff
For anyone struggling with this, you must first link your steam account with the email you used to buy the DLC from the rimworld official page from @ https://rimworldgame.com/getmygame/
You aren't given a code, in my experience.
You should have gotten an email with the download links.
Edit: You can also go to https://rimworldgame.com/getmygame/ and enter your email to have the download link resent.
YAAAAAAAS!
edit: Wait ... can't be bought through rimworldgame.com yet...? And what's this i see about not downloading for others...? Never been more happy to be expecting company soon so that this might be sorted out before I get a chance to play ... :/
For reference, the link is in the DLC description on Steam ;)

I see - however, reading Rimworld's website, it seems they do not give out a key that we can activate in Steam? It's as if it's a direct registration system of some sort:
https://rimworldgame.com/getmygame/
Have you used it before and you're then saying they do actually send a key to your e-mail address?
If you bought it through Ludeon you should have a permanent URL to use. https://rimworldgame.com/getmygame/
If you have bought it through Steam then it auto-updates, but you can select the version to play by going to the Properties for Rimworld and changing it on the Betas tab.
