The online version of SketchUp is free. It's a little jank but you can make a model of your room with exact dimensions and there's lots of furniture models you can import.
Thanks! I’m pretty happy with it! If you want to learn how to draw 3D just follow this link and check out SketchUp! https://www.sketchup.com/products/sketchup-free There is a tutorial which will get you started. And if you want I’ll do some videos on how to draw some things! I’ll post them on Instagram and here If you want to see more then check out my Instagram @ickabod_007 Cheers
What I do is browse the google images for designs. I pick ones I like and I create my own design based on what I saw, and with attention to dimensions and features customized to my situation.
The I start drawing it in Sketchup.
Look into Sketchup Free to build out whatever shaped cabinet you want. There's a ton of youtube tutorials for any task you want and there's a nice compass tool to figure out all the angles of your finished mockup.
SketchUp, yes it's free for non-commercial use. There is a desktop version here, I would say this is needed as only the desktop version supports the plugins I used to create this model: https://www.sketchup.com/download/all , there is also an online version here but it does not support plugins but you can use it to practice with: https://www.sketchup.com/products/sketchup-free
If you want this list of plugins I used in SketchUp then they are:
Vertex Tools
SubD
Artisan Tools
Fredo Round Corner
You can make game ready models and export them into Unity or Unreal Engine, I use UE myself.
I will be giving a talk in September on how to make scifi models and illustrations and it should be uploaded to You Tube some time after the talks: https://3dbasecamp.sketchup.com/
Sketchup Free (formerly Google Sketchup) is what most of the maker community uses. If you're a professional, you should look towards AutoCAD, but the fact that you're looking for free software suggests to me that you are not a professional.

Take the time, and learn sketchup. But you should be able to pull that off, and just wing it. I always find out something I didn't realize, when I build it in Sketchup.
agree on Adobe Dimensions. and most likely this is overkill for what you're wanting, but Sketchup is widely used and has a free online version. IIRC the only difference between the free version and paid is the ability to import CAD files.
I personally really like to use the free version of SketchUp. It's even available In-Browser. :)
It's a little more complex than a standard pixel-painter, but once you got the basic controls down, working with it is super fluid. As a bonus, it's 3D and you can plan your whole build, not just a layer of it.
