AIMP has best design and function (queue, sleep timer, playlist oriented,...) but uses Bass library as playback engine which does not work well with some devices.
Foobar2000, uses ffmpeg, great playback, volume control, but lacks certain features and design.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aimp.player is what I use.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.videolan.vlc does also. But I find it broken. It expects some characters encoded. Eg spaces to be %20, rather than a space character as m3u playlists have supported since forever. It used to be this way, but V3 changed it and the dev is being silly and telling everyone to fix their playlists. Also refuses to add an option to support the old style. But if your playlists have the vlc approved encoded paths...
AIMP is what I use. It has earphone control like you requested and it is a simple/lite music player in general, but it does have album art so I'm not sure if this would work for you.
This suggestion is awesome. The app even allows you to customize by how many seconds it skips/goes back! Thank you! App download link for future redittor's convenience: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aimp.player&gl=US
Im using 2019 myvi so I assumed its 1DIN in slot
If you find some photos of the car interior that matches yours, you can post here and I'll help you figure it out. DIN is where you see the whole radio is one rectangle only. 1 DIN is a flat rectangle, 2 DIN is a taller rectangle. Look at the pic/link i showed you in the earlier comment, can see the proportions are different.
> Is non-branded function thr same as branded?
I think the no-brand ones are very feature rich. It's essentially an Android Tablet with all the cables to fit in your car. So you can download Google Maps, YT, Waze, various music players (I recommend AIMP), Spotify. You do need to teether your phone's hotspot to this device for it to work online, of course. Alternatively just plug in a USB full of MP3s and you're done. I think you just got to ask the seller to show a video of it working. If it's really a bare bones Android OS, then you can just treat it like your phone in terms of how you customize the wallpaper and icon locations etc.
In fact, branded hardware that have their own UI can suck bad. My nissan's Clarion has a touchscreen and Android Auto. In the head unit's own UI (not within android auto), the menus are crappy. Nowhere near as refined as Google & Apple's years of UI development and philosophy.
AIMP | 4.0 ⭐️ | Free | 11MB |
> Attention! 1. App does not have built-in music library and uses old school playlist-based approach for music playback 2. App may works incorrectly on devices based on M.I.U.I firmware. Key features: + Supported formats: aac, ape, dff, dsf, flac, ...

For cue files, there is nothing better than aimp, foobar and Poweramp. I usually switch between foobar and usb audio player (UAPP).
Aimp - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aimp.player
Foobar - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.foobar2000.foobar2000
2 excellent players from devs whose apps are the standard for music players on desktop. Both sound extremely good and there are almost no bugs.
Aimp - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aimp.player
Foobar - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.foobar2000.foobar2000
OK so I talked to the guy after they were done, told him sorry I should've done my research before, asked him about a parking brake bypass and he said they grounded it, which I guess means the bypass? I'm not even sure.
The unit connected right up with Android Auto. I need to work with it a bit.
This audio app I was using AIMP, allows you to select folders and play everything in that folder, when creating a play list. I noticed that I would create a new playlist oh my phone while connected to Android auto and it would not recognize the new playlist on the head unit, at all. It wouldn't show. I don't really know how to refresh, but maybe that would fix it.
I took off the protective sheet. I'm going to look into getting an anti-glare screen protector. If you have any recommendations, let me know. It really does show fingerprints, badly. Kinda hate that. With and without the protective sheet, the screen is difficult to see in daylight.
Playing audio, GPS works flawlessly. I tested the calling with the mic as well, the guy had to install it in the drivers side corner, he was afraid of screwing up the interior. Call quality is great, but I was told there was an echo on the other end when the other person was talking, but I also was calling a mobile phone, not a LAN line. Not sure if that makes a difference or not.
Do you play local files for music? Just curious. If so, what music player app do you use?
Do you have issues with sun reflection or have you fixed it? Let me know what you did.
Answers are all over this subreddit.
I just have one thing to add. If you are looking for good support for cuesheets (.cue), i have found these two players to be the best:
AIMP - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aimp.player
Foobar - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.foobar2000.foobar2000
Audio players with no visual fluff and high quality playback. I have 40 GB of music on my phone and both players scan and play it effortlessly. Both have pre-amp. Foobar has ability to exit app by just swiping away notification.
Aimp https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aimp.player
Foobar https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.foobar2000.foobar2000
Musicolet...you’ll find those tiny rewind buttons just below the seekbar.
But, this rewind/forward thing becomes easy with AIMP, you double-tap on the right of the album art to forward it and double tap on the left of the album art to rewind it
I have tried a lot of players and settled now on AIMP. A no nonsense, high sound quality player. There are skins available as well for more customisation. Supports cue sheets and FLAC files etc. It goes with a default playlist view but you can configure it to show a folder view (what i have done). And extremely stable in everyday use.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aimp.player
I have mentioned it few times, went through most o the popular ones, not one is match for AIMP it plays every HiRes format, and great classic library management. Once you figure out
interface you are golden. No I don't own shares in AIMP, but certainly I am impressed with it's Russian author. BTW great Windows version as well.
It's way less user friendly, but you can set up cloud hosting, shared playlist, and host all your own files via AIMP.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aimp.player&hl=en_US&gl=US
Maybe you would want to give AIMP a try. It works on user customizable playlists rather than predefined album list or songs. And yes you can create multiple ones with repeated songs too.
The theme out of the box is pretty simple but you can always check their theme store.
Aimp is a great and free music player that fully supports album covers. In klwp, use $mi(cover)$ as a bitmap formula.
AIMP Player. It looks minimalistic, but has all the perks. Also author's name hints it's Russian- or ex-Soviet country-made, so it typically free, oriented for free (or stolen) content and rich in functions since ex-Soviet old-school programmers don't give a shit about copyright.
Try this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aimp.player
I have bought almost all the big boys (Poweramp, Jetaudio, GoneMAD, BlackPlayer Pro), yet I'm currently using Aimp. Simple to use and has all audio features you'd need.
The main difference with others is that it's PLAYLIST based, instead of Library based.
aimp is what i use. pretty much feature parity with winamp as far as im concerned. even has custom skins, and you can customize the order tags are read (except on the now playing screen for some reason)
I doubt it'll get support for newer Android versions, since development has clearly moved on to DDB2. I used to use deadbeef for a while, then switched to DDB2 briefly, then foobar2000 (you're spot on about the UI) and a couple more I don't remember.
Lately, however, I've discovered AIMP and it has become my player of choice for the following reasons:
If you like deadbeef and don't manage to get it working, give AIMP a try. It's one of those rare apps that are feature-rich, easy to use and free, all at the same time!
Before i turned to FLAC Audio,i used to listen to music in opus format using the AIMP music Player but that was 3 years ago,now that music player app seems more comfortable. Link
Hate on me all you'd like, but I'll stick with the free music player AIMP.
It has all the features your has and more. 10 band equalizer, search function, light and dark themes, lock screen integration, widget, sort files by artist, album, name and folder, notification controller, etc.
Aimp has a 'downmix to mono' setting.
It's far from being the best player, but it's free and I can actually hear the entire song when using it.
I like MediaMonkey. it has great organization and tagging features. My music library consists of flac and other losless/lossy formats. I also have allot of audiobooks in mp3 and aac
Mobile (android) i use Aimp for playing the flac files. Its the best free one I've found. Its file system is pretty basic but it works well.
I also use google play music to store all my audiobooks on so I can have them within reach if I'm away from home and want to listen to something
AIMP: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aimp.player
I wanted to use Shuttle but doesn't have Opus support. Tried GoneMAD and liked it but did not have lock screen controls. I tried out AIMP and it is a no-nonsense music player and stuck with it instead.
AIMP 3.91MB I prefer this to Blackplayer and Phonograph. I found them to be too customizable. AIMP has very few features compared to others but I found it perfect for my taste.
APKPure 2.81MB Alternative to play store. Download free apps apks. You cannot purchase any apps with this. This is not a piracy app store. Alien Companion If you are on a low data plan and love Reddit, Alien Companion is a must. It allows you to browse Reddit offline. IMO, it's better than Reddit Offline as it has frontpage and login support and a better UI. Only 500 downloads on the play store so very underrated.

Alien Companion If you are on a low data plan and love Reddit, Alien Companion is a must. It allows you to browse Reddit offline. IMO, it's better than Reddit Offline as it has frontpage and login support and a better UI. There's also a neat feature where you can like, dislike and comment on Reddit when you are not online and once you get WiFi, your actions will be executed. There's also sync profiles support. Only 500 downloads on the play store so very underrated.

If you want, you can download AIDS (not the greatest name I know) to download a lot of music for completely free. It's a Telegram link, you might have to sign-up. If you don't want to sign-up, PM me and I'll try to send you the file I downloaded from there
For audio players you can use the default Google Music app, but I personally use AIMP because Google's option was frustrating for me.
And if you want to download songs from YouTube, download F-Droid and then NewPipe. You can even download the video itself, if you want to watch stuff offline.
