Animgif wallpaper app on play store for android
AnimGIF Live Wallpaper 2 Pro
It's outdated as shit in terms of UI as it hasn't been updated in half a decade, but it still works, and works well... if you want to have animated GIFs as your wallpapers as I did.
According to some of the reviews, it looks like the major drawback is that there is no thumbnail preview of the gifs you're selecting to be used in rotation. So if you're trying to pick acceptable gifs from 1000s of them, it would be quite tedious.
reviews on the android store seem to say no.
$2.99 pro version (ad-free): [link]
"lite" version (with ads and watermark): [link]
I'm on Android and use the app AnimGIF Live Wallpaper 2 Pro (the name is super long so you know it's good).
Honestly though, it works great and doesn't really affect battery life, unless you're using a crazy 8MB+ gif or something.
Don't know about iPhones.
Yes, it's a perfect loop!
I use this app to turn gifs into live wallpapers.
And here is a breakdown of what I did in AE
If you're on Android, there's a few apps that are designed to do that, but I can't vouch for them other than this one, and even then I haven't used it in years and when I did, it was a free version (which seems to have disappeared), so it's possible the app is quite different now.
It did work though, but it used a lot of battery and the GIFs always looked a bit low res.
I use this app on my samsung S8+ to use my own made gifs lol and it works really well I also upload my gifs to giphy [link]
You should just download the giphy app which lets you download the gifs I believe I only have 8 gifs at the moment but will make more later :O
Edit: nevermind cant download gifs from giphy I think I used somre other website that lets you download the gifs from giphy but I forgot which one it was :(
AnimGif LWP 2 is the only way I've found to have an animated background. There's a free version too, it just puts a very small watermark on your background. I would have liked to make this all with KLWP, but to have the animated background I had to use AnimGif and overlay everything else with KWGT.
GIF version I use AnimGIF Live Wallpaper 2 Pro to make it a Live Wallpaper.
I'm using a live wallpaper based on No Man's Sky art.
Here's a gfycat of it in action.
and all the stuff I used:
Edit: I just noticed it said homescreen layout. Dang, if this isn't okay, let me know and I can delete this comment.
On Android, yes. [link]
I posted this a while back so i'll just copy and paste my post from a thread on /r/Nexus5

Hey dudes, this is my first theme, I got no idea if I did well or not so I would love some feedback on how to improve it ( It's for my Tablet not my Phone )
Heres everything I used:
All the widgets were custom made by me in KWGT Pro ( The clock with date opens the calendar, The little bell opens the notification bar and the battery opens the battery settings )
Wallpaper is a custom (Removed the 22) flipped version of this by pixelMewr
The app used to put the gif as a background is this
Font used for everything is Pixelmix
The icons are a custom version of 1-Bit where all i did was extracting the images and colouring them purple with photoshop
Launcher is Nova
Edit : I put everything I used in this folder here if anyone wants to use it, including the wallpaper and the used Photoshop icons
This is what i use
I've used this app
and gif images to do this. Thing is, its GOOD BYE BATTERY if you do this.

AnimGif Live Wallpaper
The widget has double the apps as it seems because beside Photos is Snapchat, beside Phone is Facebook, the notepad is Google Music, etc. It's one big widget but I had to photoshop a border on the last box since it interfered with my home/back button. There's borders on the notepad because it's usually a frame for a picture of loved ones, but I took it out for privacy reasons.
I'm using this app
But I think there is a free version
[link] I used this for a while, you can even set it to slideshow with .gifs
I use an application. [link]
GIF and Zooper Templates here
Background set using AnimGIF
List of apps uses PopUp Widget
Apps like this, [link], it's to turn gifs into a wallpaper.
Animgif lw2 pro, it'll take gifs you feed it and cycle them as a live background.
This will make a great phone wallpaper. AnimGIF if you want to use gifs as wallpapers.
Here's the best way to do it.
I actually got this theme idea from /u/Stahlfan, with his original post last year. I edited the time, the apps, and the little notepad to my liking. There's borders on the notepad because it's usually a frame for a picture of loved ones, but I took it out for privacy reasons.

I wanted to do something minimal which can easily incorporate new apps and have a space for all my widget shit.

Widget: Zooper Pro
The Status bar thing is Zooper widget with a Lightning Launcher dynamic text in front of it
