There's an app for that. I don't use it much, but it did help me find a nice compliment for the jade green I chose for the lizardmen I mentioned elsewhere in this thread.

May I suggest checking out the paintRack app to help you track all your paints and your sets (or recipes) for models? It also will do color matching for you across manufacturers.

Supports all the big names and a lot of little ones! Citadel, Vallejo, Reaper, Warpaints, on and on.

I'm a little biased because I made it ;).

Keeps an inventory of your paints. So when you're standing in the store and looking at a miniature and trying to decided if you have all the colors your need for a miniature, you can just look on your phone and see what you have. Most of the apps also have the ability to scan the the barcode on the paint pot and/or dropper bottle to add it to your inventory. They also show a color swatch of each color, so you can kind of make a shopping list of colors you want, as well as the ones your ran out of of. And it will let you make paint lists, so you can create a list for a certain miniature, and add all the paints for that miniature to the list.

I think both apps are looking to add some kind of social functionality where you'll be able to create lists and share them. I'm hoping they can add a recipe manager, so I can record custom paint mixes I do.

Now, I am not painting wargaming minis. I'm painting Fantasy RPG minis. There are usually no pre-defined color schemes for these things. So, keeping lists would be very helpful for me.

I think Paint Rack is (imo) the de facto standard for Android. It has a huge paint range, easily manages your inventory, wishlist, and has a nice "set" feature for remembering recipes and such.

Plus it has tools to find matches within and across paint lines, along with complementary colors and triads as well.

It's free, with a few features behind a small fee (might be $5? worth it).

I looked at a few others (Hobby Color Converter I think was the other, but I never found it to be all that great), but haven't really seen much else worth having. Citadel's app isn't bad, but obviously hyper focused on their paint and miniature lines.

Will be interested to see if there are others out there that I've just missed!

I'm a developer at Courageous Octopus and we recently released our app called paintRack, an app for painters of miniatures and models (think Warhammer/Warmachine/etc. minis).

It contains a library of all the paints from 5 of the biggest model paint manufacturers (Citadel, P3, Warpaints, Vallejo, and Reaper), allows you to track your collection, create sets of paints to remember what paints you used for what, and gives recommendations on triad/complementary paints to use with your main paint.

I like the Paint Rack app on Android
It's a paint inventory app with some color tools and color matching stuff thrown in.

Sometimes I'll be looking for a color similar to a citadel one, but in the Vallejo range, etc.
(Citadel paint pots are a pain for airbrushing, sometimes I'll transfer them, sometimes I don't wanna bother... or... I'll watch a video tutorial and try to replicate it with a similar color I already have)

I've used an app called paintRack on my phone for a while. It's pretty nice for finding similar colors from other manufacturers as well as doing the Complimentary, Analogous and Triad colors. Being partially color blind, this really helps.

The Paint Rack Android app has some great color tools for things like this. You can throw in (or scan the barcode of) any color in any brand and get some really useful things out like complements and triads.

It also has a very useful color tool that, based on a source color, will provide the complimentary, analogous, triad, etc colors from the color wheel. For the color tool, however, you need to get the full version for 2.99, but I think it's worth it.

Cheers :). Below are my notes for the whole colour scheme. It was basically get a base coat of the green down then drag the brighter green to the corner and the yellow right in the corner. Then highlight pure white on the top edges. You could do the faces only used 3 colours the brown for shade, have a go!!
