Any time is a good time to go, but you should be aware that the jungle around Iquitos floods and sometimes makes access impossible.
Yes, definitely take malaria medication for Iquitos. Malaria is pretty difficult to cure and control once you get it. Call your doctor or local country health department to get a prescription. http://wikitravel.org/en/Iquitos#Stay_healthy
You must use Peru money, but credit cards are useful too. You will want lots of smaller bills for stuff like busses, and meals - but the atm's will only give larger denominations - banks will give you smaller bills. Lots of places will take U.S. money. You might want to check out /r/peru
Follow the diet they recommend.
BTW - I also wanted to avoid malaria, so I stayed away from Iquitos and took my Aya up in the mountains (The Way Inn). Don't worry - if you've done any psychedelics before you will be fine. You might find my book 'Stoner Meditation' helpful (on amazon). Make sure you visit the tourist sites like Machu Picchu, etc.
Thats a wicked concept for a story. I'd love to see where it goes.
The book - Singing with the plants by Steve Beyer. Has some great information.
Also this has some awesome information just download the PDF.
And this PDF. These guys have a medicinal garden with lots of experience. I'm sure they'd know exactly where to direct you if they can't help you themselves.
Hope that helps.
Once again please do keep me in the loop with this project.

Please look to Inner child healing if you feel called. I had a similar childhood and inner child healing was the most transformative healing - beyond words how powerful this healing was for me.
This isn't just about healing to life being tolerable. But about discovering your True Self underneath all the conditioning and learning to Unconditionally Love your Self. It's a beautiful Journey once you understand what is happening and how to heal through your own Self Love for the Infinite Light in your Heart. Wait till you feel the radiant Light of your own Joy again.
Grandmother is all about the same Healing. Her whole Being is Unconditional Love. She is the Essence of Divine Unconditional Love. You will find that you Heal much more effectively during the Ceremony if you approach Her with a Self Love practice already starting to Blossom. She can heal much more during the Ceremony if you meet Her as a co-Creator this way with Unconditional Self Love in your Heart or beginning to grow there.
Also if you feel called please look to the book 'C-PTSD from surviving to thriving' by Pete Walker. It is such clear insight into what is going on within you that is causing so much anxiety and existential angst. The book pairs really well with Inner child healing as the book brings up so much to be healed.
I Hope this reaches your Heart. You are not alone.
Blessings

If the enema will help you feel more confident, go for it. If you'd prefer something less invasive, I tried these in college and... hoo boy. I had nothing left in me after 3 days. They're still my go-to when I'm feeling backed up. Pretty easy on the stomach.
Acai looks to be safe with MAOIs according to the articles that I've found, but I'd love for someone to correct me if I'm wrong.
Happy journeys ❤

I think you should read The Immortality Key. It presents an interesting case that Jesus of Nazareth was trying to bring psychedelics to the masses as a way of enlightenment.
There are some fascinsting connections to Ancient Greece and the transition to Roman Catholicism and how religious dogma over the centuries has completely missed the orginal intent of the sacrament.

Very interesting and I’ve had very similar thoughts. I commend you for wanting these types of answers. One book that’s helping me is this one:

He doesn’t get into aya until the second one but I think it may help you as I am asking similar questions and so was he.
Right now i'm deciding whether to go to Santuario or Nihue Rao but to be honest location doesn't matter to me at all, I'm more worried about the language barrier and the means of commuting to the retreat. I haven't traveled much to be honest, and I want to make the experience as stress-free as possible.
I'm totally impressed with the retreat center that you're going to though! I'm tempted to sign up for the Sept 19-30 retreat but I just got a new job, so I have to figure out scheduling and so forth. Anyway, if you get to go to Gaia Sagrada, I would love to hear back from you.
If you don't want to process all the tobacco at once, cut the maso in half and store it in a jar like this it won't dry out and it won't mold up. These jars are also great for storing the tobacco you dry out.

Start with a book like this. Find connection with others, be in nature, take care of your sleep, nutrition etc. Take responsibility for your thoughts and actions. If you do a year of this dedication your life will tremendously change.
Here is a video I recorded to help you learn about connecting to self as learned from mother.
I am happy to chat with Far_gurantee_3635 and hear him out and share many other things that may support.
Tommy is this more satisfactory to you?
She has a book out now, too! I’ve seen a resource list from this group a while back. I wonder if it could be added? I’m not sure who can edit that list.

If the magnesium supplement has been working well for you then keep doing that. The one I use is https://www.amazon.com/Ultima-Hydrating-Electrolyte-Gluten-Free-Magnesium/dp/B01IIGQ5KG/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?crid=XAEDAUOXWHC0&keywords=ultima+electrolytes&qid=1649640866&sprefix=ultima%2Caps%2C174&sr=8-4
The ceremony I went to had these Thai inhalers that made the experience more pleasant. You ideally want to hold the aya in as long as possible to get the full effect. These helped do that trick but as most people have said if the purge needs to happen it’s going to happen
Thai Traditional Thai Herbal Inhaler 1 Bottle https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QZA193Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_8KHEJ0FG0R0KW016DAHB?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It's almost impossible to get someone to look at their shit when they really don't want to deal with it. But maybe try getting This book on CPTSD. You could try running her through the 13 flashback management steps or the critic attack bits towards the back when she's struggling. It's helped me and my partner a tonne. But you will have to be patient, it's a very slow process at times.
Read/Listen to this book.
It'll provide you a better answer than anyone on this sub.
If you need it, DM me and I can send the audiobook to you.
All I'll say is that earthy hippy communities and Facebook are full of people who do or know someone who does Aya. Meetup.com has groups devoted to sacred plants and some of the people in them will know. You just got to get some email addresses of people who do ceremonies.
Been thinking about this post a lot recently. I came across a section in Ayahuasca: 5 Books in 1: Expand and Awaken Your Mind to Understanding the Healing Powers of Ayahuasca, the Sacred Psychedelic Plant Medicine of the Amazon Jungle that I've been listening to on audio book that really reminded me of what you experienced:
>If you are dealing with feeling lost, or a life threatening disease, you will likely visualize what is known as "The Void". This is a space which is infinite and completely black nothingness. It has been thought this place is death itself, as nothing seems to exist in this place. But it is The Ultimate herself. You can face your deepest fears in this space and be creadled by her. If you find yourself in this space, be certain to be in a surrendering attitude, and your spiritual aspects will soar in ways you never thought possible. This is a precious gift and is not to be feared. This is also the attitude the attitude you need to maintain throughout the entire ceremony.
Chapter 3 ~ 55min in.
Don't know if that will help after the fact, but it sounds like you had a glimpse of the Ultimate.
Hope you are recovering well <3
The Iodine Project is formed of doctors who believe in much more iodine than the RDI. https://theiodineproject.m.webs.com Unfortunately, it is not reader friendly, nor is it uncontroversial.
The nootropic phosphatydl-serine improves by 20% the speed of counting backward by seven from an arbitrarily large number. Phosphatydl-serine is a phospho-lipid. Phopho-lipids all contain a backbone of uridine and the fat known as DHA found in fish oil. The enhancement of phospho-lipid synthesis is itself an effective anti-depressant. However, uridine monophosphate also modulates dopamine release directly, which improves mood: https://www.slideshare.net/mobile/DannyFries/the-uridine-supplement-stacks-help-repair-dopamine-receptors
I am on mobile and will attempt to find a study on methyl-B12 later.
Hey, thanks for answering!
>The wrongs in this world are an example of evil works occuring.
I'd like to debate that with time... I think it's just misuse of human freedom, in nature you won't find these good/evil cathegories.
> For ayahuasca to be a medicine of "love and light" then why are ceremonies conducted in the darkness? this is an occult practice
Well, I find this argument quite weak. If I want to sleep I turn off the light, too, and sleep isn't definitely evil. Material world darkness isn't equal to spiritual evil.
> while dismissing those who had a negetive or traumatic experience.
>this was something i was shocked at as i am a loving and caring person.
Yes none of us are angels though. We've all been exposed to evil, our cultures are kind of spiritually sick, so none of us is free of emotional scars: fears, guilt, shame etc. I'm no expert, but there are plenty of reasons for a bad trip.
Related read, which I suscribe:

My initial position, as you can see, is favorable to the plant. I'm far from having the last word about all this, since I'm a novice, but from what I've read so far, my explanation of these phenomena still differs from yours, or the articles you linked.
You are very welcome. This isn't exactly what I got but look for something similar to this
Sydney-sider planning a similar trip (I do think it's possible your departure city could make difference to prices)
Here's what I've found in my research:
From memory most of the return flights I looked at to Lima were around $2k AUD and I did find a few cheaper than that. It does depend hugely on the season, so it's worth keeping that in mind and checking prices at other times of year. But as I say, your specific departure city could also make a difference as Aus is not only far away from everywhere else, but also big.
that is super weird/interesting.
do you have an interest before that happened with the Quetzalcoatl?
You should look into daniel pinchbecks the return of quatzelcoatl. havent read it but he's pretty interesting. https://www.amazon.com/2012-Return-Quetzalcoatl-Daniel-Pinchbeck/dp/1585425923
i do think what psychedelics tell us might not always be true objectively but only in symbolic form perhaps.
Someone on reddit told me this stuff was good for shaking from ayahuasca
https://www.amazon.com/Natural-Vitality-Anti-Stress-Supplement-Raspberry/dp/B00BPUY3W0
Magnesium is good for muscles and helps with tremors in general. I've been preloading with it for the last few days with my first ceremony being this Friday
Edit: here is the original post that told me about this

My heart goes out to you.

The Jaguar that Roams the Mind: An Amazonian Plant Spirit Odyssey is my fav Aya book. There is a whole chapter about a beloved cat who dies and then returns for a ceremony. I cried all the way through it, it is the most moving story in the whole book.

I can't imagine. My dog is how get through the week after an Aya Ceremony. I don't believe our beloved pets really leave us, at least not energetically. There is so much we don't understand about the universe, I hope you find a way to connect.
Gift her a copy of this: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00HQM20NK/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1
Rainforest Medicine: Preserving Indigenous Science and Biodiversity in the Upper Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/158394608X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Nx7nBb6TBF1MB
I didn't read all of this before my ceremony but I found chapter 3 to be very informative about the history of the plant, how, and why it is used and how it has been used in the past. The writer is an ayahuasca shaman who is well versed and knowledgeable.
I don't recommend reading anyone's personal stories due to preconceptions or expectations that they may give you. Be sure to set your intention and go in with an open mind towards whatever comes to you.
I don't want to rant here but feel free to message me if you have questions.
wtf, I thought I posted the link! hahahahaha https://www.amazon.com/Ayahuasca-Test-Pilots-Handbook-Journeying/dp/1583947914
Gulp it down fast, and if the taste really bothers you, take a mint afterward.
As for icaros, there are plenty of recorded icaros on the internet. Personally, I have found this even more effective on my journeys: https://www.amazon.com/Navajo-Songs-Various-artists/dp/B000S9A7F6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1522092335&sr=8-1&keywords=Navajo+songs
Thanks! Will check out the book: The Antipodes of the Mind: Charting the Phenomenology of the Ayahuasca Experience
Loved Supernatural
I am reading "the flooding" from his son Sean https://www.amazon.com/Flooding-Sean-Hancock-ebook/dp/B0727NGQ25/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8, very entertaining fiction book, and of course being Graham's son it involves Ayahuasca!
> I've read endless books, I've seen a psychotherapist, I've read loads into the workings of the mind, psychology, positivity, habits etc but nothing changes. I have fleeting states, periods where I'll get into a better rhythm in life and feel okay (but still not great and feel very lacking etc) and then I return to baseline, where I feel lost, helpless, lacking direction etc.
Hi, just a thought -- you mention you've done a lot of reading, but let me ask, what have you been doing?
I'm curious if you've read -- and actually done -- The Presence Process: A Journey Into Present Moment Awareness: Michael Brown?
My recommendation is complete The Presence Process (or any other mindfulness practice that speaks to you) and then go do an ayahuasca retreat. Also focus on your physical health, exercise, diet, sleep. Starting a mindfulness and health routine will make you more fertile ground for ayahuasca to treat.
I do believe that ayahuasca can be good for you. I've described ayahuasca as Drano for a clogged psyche that you can't see to clear out by gentler means. (FYI Drano is a chemical product in the US that you can pour into a clogged sink or bath tub drain.)
It was for me. So many psyche issues I had, for literally decades, that I couldn't seem to move on my own, despite doing many of the things you mention, ayahuasca just flushed out in one night.
So I think you should go. Good luck, and I hope you'll write back before, after, and then a few months later to share your progress.
The Cosmic Serpent: DNA and the Origins of Knowledge
