Hello there! I'm MegaMasterX and I'm the Tournament Organizer for the events you'll see popping up here and on /r/BNBattles! I'm also ah....an avid battlechip collector. :}
Thankfully, JP Version on Amazon JP is still at its SRP (Roughly $37 CAD, maybe add $10~$20 more with shipping).
He was modeled in Tinkercad, and printed on a RoBo 3D R1 at school in Pink PLA.
Here's an STL download, in case anyone has access to a 3D Printer and wants to print one.
Hey!
I don’t remember the price before the shipping and the Amazon page doesn’t show it as it’s unavailable but it was about 30 something ? It came out to 45$ in total.
Here the link:

Definitely! Here are some coded screenshots on GitHub: https://github.com/IdeasNeverCease/hikari I started doing a rewrite of the OS before I stopped. I then took on another project I've wanted to do for awhile, but I have a little extra time to devote to my MMBN dreams now, haha!
Dribbble mockups are here: https://dribbble.com/nokadota/projects/127021-hikari-OS
I should start by saying that all of the battle network games are now out on the Wii-u... so if you own one, thats the preferred way considering it helps support the series in some way. You probably knew that though.
the best emulator in my opinion is VisualBoyAdvance. There are other builds that give you different features, I use This version which has better texture filtering options.
When it comes to an xbox controller, its as easy as plugging in, going to the options tab, input and then configure... its pretty straightforward from there.
I wont go into were to get Rom's or anything like that.
The key way to get Navi starter packs for the Link PET is to order from Japanese Amazon and use a proxy service to ship from japan. It's not actually too expensive to actually buy them straight from Japan.
I used to use this proxy service when I used to collect chips and they are extremely reliable: http://japonicamarket.com/smart-home.html
Heres the amazon link for what you want: https://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%83%AD%E3%83%83%E3%82%AF%E3%83%9E%E3%83%B3%E3%82%A8%E3%82%B0%E3%82%BC-%E3%83%93%E3%83%BC%E3%82%B9%E3%83%88-%E3%83%AA%E3%83%B3%E3%82%AF%E3%83%8A%E3%83%93%E3%82%B9%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC-5-%E3%82%A8%E3%83%AC%...
I personally recommend waiting until you have a few things from japan ready to order before doing this rather than ordering one thing. I remember ordering 4 or so packs and it was worth it for the whole shipment.
There's Phantom Rift, but it controls about as well as the originals on an emulator. If you want to get a BN fix in on your phone without having to press too many buttons there's always Battle Chip Challenge.
Roughly copied from an earlier thread to save time:
There's a BN6 netbattle community based on skype that uses Hamachi to netbattle online. We got ~30 people though not all are just as active. Most of us live in NA or the EU. Best way to join is to pm someone from the group (like me) your skype name and then we'll invite you.
We know some fixes so lag shouldn't be a problem anymore unless you're living really far away from us or are stuck with slow internet.
As to your second question; unfortunately it isn't possible to netbattle using a hard copy and you'll need to use a NA ROM coupled with the VBALink emulator.
Most stuff you need to play the game can be found here except for a ROM. I'd also recommend getting Hamachi from their main website itself rather than from the onedrive folder as it is an outdated version.
Hope to see you soon in the group, we're always welcoming new players.

Just making sure, but you did try "Export"ing the save file from DeSmuMe to .sav for melonDS, right? If that did not work, did you try this tool?
If you have an older DeSmuMe build with wifi, have you tried using it for local multiplayer instead? Then it's simply a matter of finding save files from other players (I can provide mine) which can then be added with a local connection in the game.
Legally, the only affordable option is Wii U VC, but only if you already have a Wii U ~~or wait for the uncomfirmed legacy collection like the rest of us.~~
You could also try looking for the physical games on eBay or other mediums for second-hand purchases available in your area, but they'd likely be very expensive.
I do not condone piracy, but if you have purchased the games legally in the past, then I recommend the mGBA emulator (compatible with Windows, macOS, and Ubuntu).
The emulator experience, however, is not very good compared to the original GBA/GBASP, or even DS/DSLite. If you still have a GBA/GBASP/DS/DSLite, then I recommend getting a flashcart to play the games in them.
Note that it's technically still illegal to download ROMs, but you're not going to get hounded for it, and I wouldn't consider it unethical if you have legitimately purchased the games in the past (even if you lost them since then).
I'm unsure of the emulator that OP is using here, but there's an emulator called Drastic for Android. That's what I used to run the game.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dsemu.drastic
I use these. Takes a minute to hold the chip in securely, especially in the top row. They get there, though.
That's not the save type for these games. The save type is "SRAM."
Here's a directory of games with their save types listed: http://offlinelistgba.free.fr/index.php
But you really shouldn't be using anything other than RetroArch. It will handle this for you automatically:

For those who are interested in connecting online, note that you can only connect using a Wifi network that's either secured with WEP, or not secured at all. Most wifi networks these days would use WPA2, which cannot be used for online connectivity in DS games (even if you use a 3DS). Some network service providers allow you to create a WEP-secured guest network, which should work, but otherwise, your best option might be to create an unsecured guest network. Be sure to deactivate unsecured networks when you're not going online on the DS, since anyone nearby can easily access it.
I heard that Android phones can create mobile hotspots that are WEP-secured, but I also heard that this approach is not reliable for DS connectivity. It may be worth trying if this an option though.
For those who are considering emulating, you can use melonDS, which should work even with WPA2 networks.
Thanks for the Great Info! i'm Definitely gonna make a Bass chip! He's my favorite navi (which is why i bought the Bass Progress PET).
As for the original topic, i couldn't get clear Pictures of the text, but i recorded it. See what you can make of it?
Build the most recent version here (make sure it's the development branch):
https://github.com/TheMaverickProgrammer/OpenNetBattle/tree/development
Then download the mod here:
https://www.filemail.com/d/tvnutstnqcxeuua
Then put the contents in OpenNetBattle\build\Debug\resources\mods\enemies and you should be good.
> software nightmare, maintaining the API for every popular OS imaginable
You're right, that does sound terrible and as a result I certainly don't recommend it. Instead, just focus on the most popular platforms. macOS, Linux (and the most popular flavors), and Windows. Thankfully, most OS-level APIs don't change too drastically between releases, if at all.
> Arguably we already have this "assistant" with Alexa, Siri, and Cortana
We do but I have no control over Siri. I can ask it a question and it won't adapt to an explanation of the response I expect back. You allude to this with learning and that's what having your own NetNavi would fix.
> net navis are most likely massive in file storage. Perhaps closer to Terrabytes in size because they are the machine learning (ML) part and the navigator/assistant.
I disagree with this. Our devices aren't terabytes in size and yet we have these assistants. The raw data is absolutely a monstrous size but isn't delivered to us. Just the output of the learned data.
Recently I learned of PyTorch Mobile, which allows for on-device ML. My expertise in this realm is minimal but I think it's the way to go.
> relying on a service for upgrades has a huge Point of Failure because it all depends on this new service
There will always be a point of failure somewhere. Tying upgrades to releases isn't uncommon though. My wife and I have two different versions of Siri (mine sounds more "natural" while hers sounds like a typical digital assistant) because I'm using the beta version of iOS and she still hasn't upgraded.

As far as a roadmap goes, that's still unclear. My OP was really writing as I thought so once I think about this more, the path forward should clear to me.
Got it off Amazon!
Mega Man 66 Action Dash Mega Man EXE Battle Network Sword Mini Action Toy Figure approx. 66mm / 2.6"in Bandai Shokugan https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XZMTSW4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_LO5qCb9RVP7JX
You're going to need a Motorola Z series phone with the special proprietary connector
If you have a phone with that connector, your golden. If you don't and you don't have an iPhone your going to pretty much be stuck with stand-alone controllers.
I've heard that the Switch's pro controller uses standard bluetooth, which would be another high-qualtiy option.
That's interesting. Looks like you just need an action replay dsi or a flash cart. If anyone is interested amazon has the action replay for $30: https://www.amazon.com/Action-Replay-DSi-Nintendo-DS/dp/B002N73PEQ
Edit: The star force series isn't on the supported list so it may not work: https://github.com/polaris-/dwc_network_server_emulator/wiki/Compatibility
mmbn4, if you import a battle chip gate you can unlock the hidden 'operation battle' mode!
you can get the bn4 chip gate on amazon for under $25
and it comes with a megaman soul data chip to start you off.
There's Phantom Rift, it's available on iOS and Android.
