They really smashed DayZ and didn't give it a chance (along with arma 3). If they took the time to learn how to actually play and find the populated areas then they probably could have had fun with it.
Also the game is in early access, so if they expected a bug-free adventure on a game that labels itself as incomplete then I don't even know.
I think tumblr is a good thing you could look into, since there are many other artists there and the platform makes it very easy to other people to share your content (if that's something you want) and for you to talk to other people about it. And you can also use a custom domain there. I've used it and it's very easy to do. A few years ago there were some free customizable templates you could try on and some that you could buy but I don't know how that works now or if Square Space is better. If you follow some other tumblrs that you like, your tumblr dashboard can be amazing amazing for inspiration.
Directed to the comment in the September 11th podcast about shooting videos playing Sims 3 and having people buy copies based on that experience:
I own Chaser because of IG. So yeah, it kinda works; but sadly, it's not as fun to play because I don't have 'Stanley and Waldorf' sitting behind me... :P
>"Careful... uh... Careful of the desperation of a lonely man... I'm at mars now." - John 'Chaser' Stone (James Willems)
Anyways, I have a question: Does IG ever have to script out any jokes in advance when it comes to filling in stream time? I ask because I noticed James's joke about how 'Joe Wood' visited a company to ask for more money for the Chaser development process, but got rejected because he only asked for $17.48. It seemed like it was a bit scripted, like he was mulling it over a few days in the past and thought "This would be funny to say just in case there's nothing happening in the stream."
I'm interested in knowing if there's any additional thought put into certain jokes, or are they actually mostly improv?
I mean, if all of this was off the top of your heads, then the improv comedy must take its toll sometimes.
Am I the only one who gets the feeling that their idealistic future of everyone streaming all their games on subscriptions is much further off than they think?
How would indie games fit into this environment? I think it would be rather difficult for them to survive using this system, but I also think they won't just disappear (considering they are becoming bigger and more important than ever before)
Also, the internet infrastructure of a lot of places in the world just isn't ready for everything to be entirely streamed. In Australia, our internet performance is so poor than Netflix doesn't even allow sales to us, and they require only 5mbps for HD content. We average 4.7mbps (source)
I think that Video Games is a different market than the TV/Movie industries, and will have a different ecosystem. Streaming will exist, and it will be quite big, but I think that it will be a LONG time before our shiny boxes disappear and everything is being streamed.
Although I do like that you brought this up, I dissagree.
I think it is a very small amount of people who download a game just to see if they can run it, and then buy the game immediately if they can or just uninstall it and move along if they can't.
Most people will either know that their PC is good enough, check to see if the specs match up online or use a site like Can You Run It.
If you want to play PC games on your mac, use bootcamp
If you want to build a nice meaty PC, this comprehensive guide should do the trick.
I would also go with Adobe CC but given the budget you can give the open source/freeware route a try.
Kdenlive is a open source NLE and has been compared to sony vegas in terms of power vs ease of use.(ie more rubust than iMovie/windows movie maker but less than the high priced editing suites)
Also there is Lightworks, a powerful freeware NLE which is probably closer to adobe premier with raw control of the look and effects.
And as /u/SpoolesArmpit said youtube will be you best friend :)
Get Chaser v1.49, the multiplayer demo, it's free! Have to use the CGP Launcher to play that too.
But there has got to be some limit...if I was to make a channel all about Pewdiepie compilations, I know it would get views (I might also die a little inside) but I wouldn't be earning it. I see so many people hopping on bandwagons to get themselves noticed and their work could barely be considered "creative" in my book.
I mean, just look at this ( http://gamejolt.com/search/?q=five+nights ), in my opinion, its shameful.
Hi. I'm a student and I'd like to show a project I've been working on in the last year.
The game is called Hives , as the idea came when I was reading something about bees and how they make their hives hexagonal because it minimize the border-to-area ratio.
Anyway, it's a puzzle, where every level is an irregular chessboard of hexagons. You have to move from point A to point B, using a limited number of moves. A move can take any of the six directions of the hexagon, and will take you to the last cell available in that direction.
