This is a nice idea, but it can be anecdotally disproven by real life examples. Many celebrities, who have every basic need met, have friends and family, extensive community ties, and every reason for high self esteem, suffer from depression or commit suicide. Depression is an illness. The level of needs you have met, how successful you are, the strength of your social ties, don't necessarily have any impact. In the Western world, even when we don't get a gold star for every level of the hierarchy, we still live lives that are orders of magnitude better than the rest of the world--if we have food, shelter, entertainment, opportunities (and time) to build social bonds and pursue self actualization, how could we ever be depressed? (MHoN also seems like a Western, atomistic scale that might not readily transfer to other parts of the world where self perception and societies are built on very different ground). Any cursory search of depression on the internet will show you that income, success, friends, etc, are not a bulwark against depression. Idk/idc if Saitama's depressed or not, but you should know a bit more about depression.

Tl;dr--Clinical depression isn't affected by how high you've climbed MHoN. It's an illness.

In Japanese, he uses the word &quot;Shumi&quot;, which generally translates to "hobby". That's the translation the fan-translators went with ("I'm a hero for a hobby").

I don't know if there is some connotation with the word "Shumi" in Japanese. As far as I know, it really just translates to "hobby". But either way, the official translators choose different wording, which is supposed to have the same meaning. But as you can see, that doesn't always happen, as different words have different connotations, and people will read into it differently depending on the words used.

So yeah, "lost in translation" is exactly right. Happens a lot, even in English->English.

I think you haven't read the webcomic enough.

In the meanwhile, I will explain to you the sit meme : it became a meme because 3 people (Garou then Saitama then Bang) said to Rover "sit", making it a repetition joke. The first two said it and punched it. But the fun thing is that in fact, if you don't attack Rover, he will actually sit if asked, as proved with Bang.

So yeah, my point still stands : Rover is a dog, he can sit if asked. I guess Gouketsu knew this, so it would be hard for them to fight.

So I went to the OPM databook too check. This is her page and her disaster rating is 虎 which is Japanese for Tiger. So he's right, Kombu Infinity is officially listed as a Tiger level threat.

Could have been both. Why not? Maybe since he didn't have a job, he wanted to save money on A/C, and then also rationalized it as a training method.

He didn’t fight EC because he believed he could win, he fought EC because it was fight EC or die. It was fight EC or try to run and allow EC to rampage in the city as he chases them down. The decision wasn’t made out of cockiness, it was made out of lack of a better option.

Genos statements aren’t unreliable, they just come from someone who hasn’t seen the S-Class in action. Remember, even the S-Class hardly ever see each other fight, let alone go all out against an enemy.

I’ve read the webcomic, but the manga isn’t following the webcomic page for page, stuff changes. Like Genos becoming more humble and recognizing his limits. Genos wasn’t that far off, they were going to need the S-Class heavy hitters to take on Gouketsu.

Hm! That's worth explaining. 'Murder your babies' comes from Stephen King's lovely book 'On Writing'. In saying that, he means that it's vital to separate you the author from your characters so that they can develop as they have to, rather than as you'd want. Much as you'd like your favourite character to succeed at everything, sometimes what the story requires is that they don't get the girl, that they fail at what they try, maybe that they even die (early). Maybe your favourite scenes need to be cut back on or even removed. Being able to do this requires distance.

In this context, I think it's vital to separate the critical reader from the fan. The fan is free to have favourites and to that end doesn't want to read or write critical things about their favourites. The critical reader needs to examine the roles those characters play and if that means saying harsh things about a character, so be it!

Garou has better technique then Bang but observation based off of combat experience is an entirely different. If A. Garou can beat people that are leagues faster then him by using observation and combat experience then Bang can do the same thing to a higher degree since he has much more combat experience than Awakened Garou.

There is a webcomic that is (was?) drawn by ONE and which originated the series. The webcomics drawings are pretty terrible tho so when it took off they got Murata to redraw it into a manga that you can actually buy at the store. One doesn't really update the webcomic anymore but it is still much farther in the story than the manga is.

My Saitama bunny I finished up for Anime NYC this past weekend!! I'm really happy I got it all done T0T I finished the bodysuit, ears, and tail over the summer, but I couldn't make the jacket until this month.

It was based on the Demon Slayer bunnysuit that came out a while ago! I loved how it looked, but I knew if I ordered it I'd end up needing to alter a bunch of parts of it anyway, so I figured I'd just make it from scratch. The only parts I didn't make on my own were the stockings and boots--everything else I patterned and put together, either for this cosplay, my other Saitama cosplays, or my casino bunny Genos cosplay.

It isn't aluminum--it isn't even metal at all! It's just a cheap plastic bat like you'd use for kids or a costume. This is the one I ordered. I'm sure you could find other similar ones, though, especially if you need a specific size. What I did was sand down the seam in the plastic so it was totally smooth, spray paint it silver, and then wrap the handle in electrical tape. While I'd love to have an aluminum bat for him, you can't bring any weapons or props made of metal into conventions, so this is the safest option. Although a little bonus to spray painting it: as it gets beat up over the year, the black base shows through and looks like scuff marks. I didn't plan it but I like it anywho XD

How is popularity in WSJ judged? By people buying individual issues online? I checked the volume sales, and Black Clover sold less than 2M in 2017. Solid, but not top tier. Sure, it's a new series (only 15 volumes/started in 2015) and has room to grow, but I doubt it will get higher than 3M on average. Maybe 5M in it's best year. (I'm betting OPM will get to 6M or higher regularly after S3, assuming JC Staff does it right).

Sorry, I was confusing anime and manga. Technically Bleach was vastly inferior to both Naruto and One Piece in sales, it simply had comparably popular anime in the west. Recently i being having some fun trying out the DeOldify project that add color to black and white images.

It first glance is easy to tell that the AI really like the color red/orange, but still it can create some cool colors here and there. Maybe in the future we manage to combine artists and AI to create fast colored mangas.

To me personally the curtain makes the image feel like it should be racy, and like the curtains should be the only covering, the bra feel off to me because of that for some reason, because from a composition standpoint, the curtain is there to have some sort of covering, if the bra is there, there is no covering needed.

I know it is a flimsy covering, but I don't know, I think it's enough for me to respect it. It also might be because I think Murata has said that Fubuki might be a model as a side job, it really looks like a pin-up image, and I feel like braless is more appropriate there.
But who knows, I might just prefer it because I want to see her naked XD

I will rant about slow motion glamour shots! Hear me out! That's the thing that has been grinding my gears since episode four. I've noticed that over the course of the released episodes so far, that the studio behind the anime has developed a phobia of slowing the action down. Now they have done a good job of the action they've portrayed, however when you look at Murata-sensei's work, there have been some moments that have, in my opinion, suffered because of that fast action pace: the Sonic fight and the training vs Genos part. To elaborate - the tracking shots were, if not nerfed, altered heavily to make room for more action shots. Now you can make the argument, that it's an adaptation of an adaptation, but the reason the remade manga was so great wasn't because of overabundance of action, but because the villains and protagonists were given the chance to look amazing. And I will make the argument, that some of us would welcome some slow-motion shots! Maybe the anime studio doesn't have the talent to draw those tracking shots, hell - I'm no expert, but I do feel that in this particular case less is more - less action, more bad-ass slow motion. I feel like the direction the show is going is good (very modern animation style), it is certainly a dream come true for the manga fans, but I was hoping for that slight bit more, that genuine "Matrix" moment - and it just feels like a missed opportunity to me. I use Medibang Paint Pro, it's free and basically made for making manga. I use it to make my memes and typeset the chapters. And they have 'CC wildwords', my favourite font to use.

I've heard a lot of people had issues with the subtitles on Netflix. If it's down I assume it's to address that. Sucks that it happened while you were midway through.

How about hosting chapters via torrent? If one is afraid of legalities, a user can download with free torrent download services like Seedr or similar. Whole chapters should be like 200MiB and below, it should be very well below the limit of most torrent download services' free offer.

In Seedr for example you can stuff your personal drive up to like 1.5-2GiB for new accounts (up to 4GiB with referrals and stuff). Even if it gets full you can just delete from your Seedr drive. Create your account from a referral link so you have an extra 500MiB (I wasn't able to do this sadly).

Just trying to suggest, but there should be better solutions out there.
