Yuuuup, its wild. You can get them direct from ksafe for $60, but if you have prime you get free shipping, so it kinda evens out IMO.
I wish K-safe did scaled pricing per size. If the mini was $40, I'd totally just buy that. My little DIY one cost me a little less than $30, so I think $40 would be reasonable for a nicely manufactured thing.
I have a habit of seeing expensive things and thinking "I could learn how to make that"... not gonna lie I was down the rabbithole trying to teach myself basic electrical engineering so I could convert a regular padlock into a timed lock and have it be part of a whole IoT system ... Then I figured I should just start with the crappy little $20 amazon lock and see how that does first :)
It's Loop Habit Tracker for Android (Google Play link)
It's a neat little open source, ad-free app for tracking your habits. You can export data to .csv file as well.
So I literally just purchased this generic “k safe” which is a time box that opens based on whatever time you set. The original product is called “k safe aka kitchen safe” for like people who have sweet cravings. But they made some for cell phone use, ciggs, pills, etc. I put all my vape pens in there and I’m testing how the first 24 hours goes. Once I do that I’m going to increase it a day at a time I think. The name brand one was $60 and this one is “only” $38.
I meant this

I brew it in a French press and have it over ice with some orange slices. Way stronger than the canned stuff. Lasts quite awhile.
Good luck to ya! :)
Even though we're still within the dregs of this dumb pandemic, it's still really important to get some good socially-distanced fresh air if you can. Getting out and going for walks outside can be really helpful!
I also used to do "self-testing challenges" when I didn't have a good gauge of how long it took me to pass a urine tests, so maybe invest in some at home testing kits. Oddly, it gave me a sense of motivation during my breaks.
When I tell myself I'm finished consuming for the time being, I make sure ALL the weed I have is gone. This may not be possible if you smoke/vape and such, so I have a KitchenSafe on standby for if I ever decide to keep a vape around but don't want to use it during the week or something.
This also may sound odd, but when I would get high for the last time in a while, I would try to mentally savor it while also thinking about how great it would feel to be fully sober, and about all of the things I would do, and how happy I would be. A sort of "reprogramming" my mind if that makes sense.
I put up another thread with books and stuff that helped me if you like reading too. :)
You can do it!
this is a great idea! I've recently noticed just how much weed dehydrates me—even though it's DEFINITELY not as bad as alcohol, it's significant. In addition to ^this comment about boredom & dopamine, I'd like to recommend this book on binge eating to everyone: https://www.amazon.com/Overcoming-Binge-Eating-Second-Program/dp/1572305614
The American Psychological Association cites that text as the most current and evidence-based approach to treating binge eating via CBT. Which is just a fancy way of saying that any educated individual can read this book and gain valuable psychoeducation about how to deal with binge eating. If you're looking for additional support, look up some therapists in your state that provide treatment for individuals with eating disorders. You don't have to meet the criteria for something like anorexia or bulimia to benefit from some additional support!
I appreciate your position by I do believe it is unhelpful. Most drugs have pros and cons. You have fallen into the trap of demonising nicotine without learning about potential positive uses (just like cannabis prohibitionists do).
The long-term effects of measured, responsible drug-taking by healthy adults with their life together is very safe. This is true for heroin, THC, nicotine, alcohol, caffeine, and many more.
Smoking, on the other hand, is definitely unhealthy and has many negative long-term effects. That's why most of the harm of cigarettes is not from nicotine; it's from the combustion of tobacco and added chemicals.
Healthy, well-rounded adults can quite easily enjoy and benefit from drugs, including nicotine, regularly without becoming addicted or experiencing any long-term negative effects. And many do.
This proves that addiction is more about the person than the drug.
Nicotine is similar to caffeine in that it's a stimulant that improves focus, energy and working memory.
I gave up smoking tobacco about 5 years ago after smoking for about 10 years. Didn't touch the stuff for 4 years until I learned about the benefits of nicotine. Now, I can enjoy nicotine in low doses a couple times a week. I don't smoke it. I can also go without very easily. I don't crave nicotine or cigarettes. I don't get withdrawals.

Thank you for your time overseas. You're a brave person! and let me tell you, marijuana can be extremely helpful when used appropriately for what you've listed you've been diagnosed with. Things like CBD oil could really help you out :)
I too have been diagnosed with anxiety, and used weed for a long time to help me out, and found I actually got more anxious once I stopped. But the best thing you can do for yourself in the meantime is practice self-care and self help. Can i recommend two books?
1) DARE - The New Way to End Anxiety and Stop Panic Attacks 2) Mindfulness in Plain English
Both will aid in your journey, and they are both extremely interesting.
In the meantime, I know what you mean about just needing sleep. Try out what I've recommended tonight. Also, if you're into supplements and herbs, I can recommend a bunch that have helped me get to sleep (melatonin is not one of them as it does not help me at all).
I'm on day 2 right now after a stretch of daily vaping and I'm with you for at least a week! If you're thinking of meditation try headspace. It's a paid service but there's a 10 day free trial that will get you through the week.

Don't feel embarrassed. If anything, you've come to the right place. This sub is for those who want to manage their consumption. I also smoke every day, and decided to take a t-break that started this Sunday just gone. It has only been two days, but I've already noticed that the brain fog is starting to clear.
Your reaction to a break will entirely depend on your current life situation and mindset. I've tried taking a t-break before, and I just couldn't do it. I was in a shitty corporate job that basically fed into my cravings for weed. Now that I've left that job, I realize that it's a lot easier to cope with everything, although I still do have trouble from time to time.
Seeing as you're going through a break-up, you might find it a bit more challenging if it's what you rely on. However, this isn't to say that you can't do it. It's going to be hard, no doubt, but you just need to remind yourself why you're taking a break (or slowing down).
As for coping strategies, there are many. Do you have a pet? Perhaps you can spend some time with them when you're feeling down. Do you like exercising? Perhaps you can go for a run, or go for a workout at the gym. It's hard, since I don't personally know you, but you know what I'm getting at I think. Find something that brings you joy, and when you're feeling down in the dumps, force yourself to do something to distract yourself.
It gets easier, I promise. I would maybe suggest starting with a week-long break, then re-evaluate when that's up. After a week, your first blaze will be a lot more rewarding.
Also, the Grounded app is a very popular app in this community for tracking your consumption. I'd suggest checking it out, I'm using it also. Link for iOS and Android.
I didn’t look too much into it but these were the ones I got. It’s quite literally a capsule filled up with a ground up root so I imagine many of them are the same as long as nothing is added and for the most part, there isn’t so most brands should be fine
It's called Grounded. They have it for iOS and on Google Play.
Hey friend, that's great to hear! I too have gone from being an everyday smoker to only on the weekends at night as well.
I find personally these three rules I set up for myself to work best for staying on your chosen path:
1: and this is the MOST crucial rule of them all if you don't follow the others if nothing else FOLLOW THIS RULE. And it is-pick your days to smoke and DO NOT DEVIATE from it! Because I guarantee that even just breaking it here and there will eventually lead you back to smoking every day.
2: Have a coping mechanism for when the cravings hit, you mention meditation which is a great one and one I need to start doing again. I find going on a walk if it's in the daytime or reading a book helps me too. Basically, I pick something I know I can never really do while high as my distractions if the cravings hit hard.
3: Consider having a trusted friend or family member hold onto your weed until your smoke day(s) comes up. Or if that's not an option for you maybe even consider getting a timed lockbox to keep your weed safe and out of reach till the time comes. Something like this even for around $40 bucks:
Anyways, good luck with your moderation, and you're absolutely right, you are in control and you got this!
I feel like the Nootropic Mushroom Complex I take has helped a lot with cognitive abilities and counteracts the negative effects from marijuana.

>Can you give an example of his sexism?

“I read Betty Friedan’s book [The Feminine Mystique] because I was very curious about it, and it’s so whiny, it’s just enough to drive a modern person mad to listen to these suburban housewives from the late ’50s ensconced in their comfortable secure lives complaining about the fact that they’re bored because they don’t have enough opportunity. It’s like, Jesus get a hobby. For Christ’s sake, you — you — ”

“You know you can say, ‘Well isn’t it unfortunate that chaos is represented by the feminine’ — well, it might be unfortunate, but it doesn’t matter because that is how it’s represented. As someone who also primarily smokes concentrates, it’s going to be hard to find flower that has any effect on such a high tolerance.
I’ve found the only way to get my tolerance back to a reasonable level is not using ANY thc/cbd product but I know that’s not an option for you.
If I was in your shoes, I would try to get by with smoking flower 1x or 2x/day, if that won’t lead to a relapse with your old drug of choice.
One product that helps me and others I know with anxiety is magnesium. This helps me with anxiety and sleep: https://www.amazon.com/Natural-Vitality-Magnesium-Stress-Original/dp/B000OQ2DL4/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?adgrpid=57688641084&gclid=CjwKCAjw46CVBhB1EiwAgy6M4kOKvJ4RXGxSKIypjNi91sIWvPz9smDfK4NiFWhy6Py1V5-MtfSX8BoCZnAQAvD_BwE&hvadid=274750469185&a...
But that may not work for you. Either way, concentrates are really good at making our tolerance way too high. It’s hard to believe you’re even getting high at this point after that many years of concentrate use.

Honestly I think your being unreasonable, but I don’t really have a grasp of the situation. What I do know is that a smoke buddy could probably solve your problem.
As with all medicine, it's really person to each patient. I think that's especially true with weed. It's all about finding the balance that's most productive for you (and working towards more productive states).
I'll just bring up, because you mentioned them, one different between weed and psychedelics. Weed used for medical purposes tends to be used everyday, multiple times a day. Psychedelics have shown, as I understand it, great promise I improvements after only 1 dose, in a controlled environment. If you're interested in learning more about this, I have heard this book recommend, though I haven't read it myself yet.
You described addiction so accurately. I'll be honest, I don't even smoke weed, I was just perusing this sub. But I recently quit nicotine and really relate with the way you described your relationship with weed here. I used Alan Carr's "easy way" book which they make a different version of for pretty much every substance and it really just made things click for me. Like you, I felt like I was in a tug-of-war between not actually wanting to but somehow just always going back to it. For me, it was also that I didn't have a good "why" and this book seriously gave me that, I feel like quitting is really gonna stick for me this time. Again, I haven't read the weed-specific version of it but I have a feeling it could really help you (the way it's written sounds kinda corny at times but it takes a really shame-free approach to just changing your mindset around the substance).

I listened to the audiobook version and just tried to kind of "meditate" on it lol. Hope this helps. Good luck :)
I had to stop smoking during the weekdays cause I get really blank eyes, even 24 hours after a mini j (0.2-0.3 g). So it was a choice between a job and no job. Now I only smoke friday and saturday. In the beginning I kept my stash in the forest, far away from my apartment. Now I can keep it in the basement (that would not have worked half a year ago).
A couple of years ago I had your mindset of only smoking a little bit in the evening. Could not do it. I have no will power. Looked at box with time lock (like this), but never tried it. Maybe it will work for you.
best wishes for your path and check out jewelers loupes sometimes to look at the beautiful trichromes of the bud. That is what really helped me start to appreciate the plant, looking at it super close up. There's many on Amazon but this is the one I got!

apologies for the delay in the reply
I always had problems starting tasks. I was always amazed at the self control of friends who could wake up and then do different things all day and remain super productive. I was mega frustrated as I couldn't work out why weed actually made me a better person as it allowed me to be able to relax a little and brought me back into the present. It was only after my summer episode when someone suggested that a symptom was a sign of ADHD, that I looked at all the other symptoms and realised that the inability to focus was what I was struggling from.
Right now I am vaping one chamber of weed in a pax over 2 days (one day at a low setting and then one day at a higher setting). I don't vape after 9pm as I don't want it to affect my sleep patterns and will only use it if I feel I need to chill out (at times of hyper focus).
I was vaping a lot more through the summer - small amounts but throughout the day. I did find I had built up a tolerance and had a week break in September. I will admit that things went to shit in my life in that week - nothing accomplished, living in a complete daze and feeling very very flat. I was concerned that it would be affecting my other meds (Venflaxin) but after a week I was really struggling. My wife has a career in medicine and she agreed that the weed was seeming to work medicinally for me. I am now vaping under half of what I was before September. If I have more I do feel a bit of lull the following morning and the small amounts seems to stop that.
I get my mushroom complex from Amazon - https://www.amazon.ca/Limitless-Mushrooms-Nootropics-Supplement-Cognitive/dp/B07HCR4LF4/ref=pd_ybh_a_19
I take 1 tablet a day - recommended is 3 but I get headaches with that and 1 does the job really well.
Depending on your college you might have a department of student affairs or something. My college had a grand list online.
You can ask that department for some information about student groups around leisure activities (like boardgames). Then it's contacting that group for meeting times and location. You can try searching around your uni's website(s) as well.
Depending on where you live it might also be worthwhile to checkout meetup.com, as they have a lot of social shit that might not be connected to your university at all.
I bought one of these and found that it helps a lot. When I’m done smoking Saturday night, I can set the timer for the following Friday evening and I can’t physically access it until the timer completes:

Hi there, another stoner with a classic style depression/anxiety combo platter!
I recently cut down to .5g per day (I wasn't keeping track of my consumption until then, but my supply is lasting waay longer), I got myself a dosette box (like this) each section holds .5g pretty neatly, and that's what I'm allowed that day. I vape it, maybe that makes it last longer.
It's not a k-safe, so if I'm having a really bad day, I can have some extra from my main stash, but it forces me to keep track. I think my tolerance has adjusted to it as well, which is a relief, I think it got way too high.
Do you think you could plan an activity for you and your friends that might not include that much weed? Go to lasertag or something! Or go for a nice walk, and then have just one bowl at a nice quiet spot along the way.
Good luck, I hope things go well :)
Hi Eggydoodoo. The advice that I can give is that it really helps to educate yourself on how addiction works in you brain and recognizing the thoughts that it plants in your mind. I once had an other addiction which I’m now free off thanks to reading a book by Allen Carr. He got famous by finding a reliable way to quit smoking and apparently his method works for all different kinds of addictions. Apparently he has a book on cannabis to: link But you might be able to find a free PDF version the web somewhere… If this helps you in any way in the near future, do let me know. It changed my life by giving it a try and I’m passionate to help others with it.
Exactly. I didn't really think of weed as medicine until I became a medical card holder in my state many years ago. I never really used it as such until then either. Now it is more of a medical thing. I take some if I need to sleep, though I do partake at times I'm feeling anxious. Though sometimes, I don't, simply because I want a clear head. I use CBD more often for things like aches and pains - in place of how people use aspirin or ibuprofen. Even medicines can be abused though, and for some, weed becomes addictive just like anything else.
I agree that weed and alcohol aren't even in the same league. Weed comes from a plant. Alcohol is ethanol, a toxic chemical that is not meant to be ingested. There are so many ill effects of booze, it's mind boggling that it is even legal. Posting a link to a book below that sheds light on all of the reasons why intaking ethanol is bad for the human body. It's a real eye opener. I guess the reason I compared the two is the addiction properties in it. I don't even think ethanol should be treated as a medicine, it is straight up bad for the body and brain (any doctor would agree).
I found this, but it’s $200 and not prime. I’d rather $70 for something that’s not so strong than $200 and have to wait a month for it to arrive
I couldn’t recommend it more highly, it does exactly what I need it to, plus it’s super easy to program. It’s also really easy to use while sleepy and just reaching over to it. Everything is accessible. Once you set it up how you like it, it’s one button to enable what you need at night.

This is the L-Tyrosine. The purpose is to get your body to create its own dopamine again. This is why you normally feel depressed as fuck after about day 4 or 5 because your brian isn’t receiving any pleasure chemicals.
Aw sorry, that sucks. I'm just regurgitating what I heard from the author of Why We Sleep.
I am happy to help, it was therapeutic and productive for me to share this with you as well, reminding me to take my own advice haha. The book was How to Stop Feeling So Damn Depressed (The No BS Guide for Men). Despite the title I think it should be fine for men and women.
Today I ended up cleaning and getting inspired to improve my spaces. This helped me decrease stress from being in a cluttered, gave me something to do, made me enjoy being wherever I am more, and gave me something to feel good about making progress on.
Have you tried a kitchen safe? It’s on Amazon for like 70 bucks, but it is worth it imo. It is a rather durable container that has a built in lock that lets you lock away your weed for a set period of time. You can force yourself to smoke once every week if you wanted to.
I recently bought the cheap-ass alternative, and find it very useful. Max setting is less (99 hours) and you obviously need a container that you can use a padlock on, but it’s fine for what I need.
(In the UK where I am, OP’s box is more expensive - £70/$93 - and my padlock is cheaper - £10/$13 - so there’s even more of a difference)
Basically yes, the tubes on top are activated carbon filters. The wooden part at the bottom is a tool that came with the tray. The small shovel helps you pick things up and the cradle is a joint holder.

For drug tests, I recommend Highly Sensitive and Easy@Home. They both test for the 50 ng/ml cutoff. I recommend buying them both as I've done; a negative result for two different branded tests gives me great peace of mind. They've served me well before; never failed a test.
Good luck! I think you should be fine :)

Looks pretty good for a cheap one.
Grounded helped me a lot understanding what was happening in my body during my t-break. I totally recommend it. Sweating is totally normal, this is your body getting rid of toxins.
To feel better physically, I just do a 7 min workout I can extend when I feel in good shape and motivated.
Totally! I get where you’re coming from. There’s these boxes call K Lock Safe’s. They literally will not open until the time goes off on them. Making it so you can forcibly lock away your bud until it’s a good time to use it again. Check them out, I’m ordering some myself this week. Other than that it’s all about discipline and learning control. It’s hard at first but as your tolerance break continues it will only get easier. :) best of luck to you,

same problem. i’ve had a poor appetite before i smoked weed regularly. what’s helped me a bit is ginger tea, two cups a day, with a bit of honey. prilosec too, if you have reflux issues. if you have problems with keeping weight on as well, i highly suggest japanese/taiwanese ramen snacks. my current fave is GGE hot spicy flavor. they taste just like tacos!

One thing that I found very helpful on the booze side at least was a little free app called Easy Quit Drinking. It had little counters and heath improvement meters that I found very motivating. There are a dozen more apps like it, too.
IMO, getting off the booze will be a bigger challenge than the green. Use the folks around you and groups like this online - while you can just do it alone old-school, it's generally more successful and lasting when you have some peeps behind you.
i feel you. weed, fap, munchies, video games - in that order, is my favorite thing to do. it's amazing, but you gotta have it under control. limit yourself to what you feel is acceptable. i think this book will help you: the daily stoic by ryan holiday

I have had success with creating more than 2 good habits at once but I have noticed that piling up the habits is counter intuitive as I am prone to fail more easily. I definitely recommend you give 'The Power of Habit' by Charles Duhigg a read, I am reading it at the moment and it is definitely helping me understand the psychology behind my actions and I always value science and research heavily, which the book has plentiful of. One habit that I know I have created and will stick to for the rest of my life is meditation and I have been doing it for over 90 days now with missing about 3-4 days in that timespan. I think it has been one of the best habits I have created thus far because it has been opening up my mind a lot and I think it will help my willpower and work ethic for future habits I am going to create. I will however mention that PMO has been my ultimate struggle but I havent given up and I think that is the key to succeed in nofap. Good luck!

Edit: I should note I'm only 7 pages in
It appears the $55 → $60 is the cheapest price range you'll find, although, this model is $5 off, and to me, it looks very enticing: safety safe .
Yes, but that requires will-power. Have you seen these yet?? . This might be the way to go.
Also, t-breaks ALWAYS suck the first two or three days chem-free. That is your body, and habit, pulling at your heart strings. Be strong. Once you really realize you're not going to get high, you'll forget about reefer until... the two week mark, and it is because of this:
By that time your body has pretty much flushed all the cannabinoids from your system, and you'll be climbing the walls to get high. That point sucks, too, and that point will require as much tenaciousness as you can muster.
Have you tried CBD? It has helped me immensely when I've been horribly anxious but undesiring of actually being high.
Though if you can make some headway actually getting to the root of your issue that will ultimately be healthier than constantly medicating. Easier said than done, I know, but never lose hope for yourself. The human mind is an incredibly versatile thing. You mention you've tried various therapy methods - just because you haven't had success with these doesn't mean that therapy can't help you. One that has helped me a lot is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), a combination of mindfulness practices with CBT. It addresses certain methods for taming intruding thoughts/emotions in the moment. I suggest you read this article to help understand the biological underpinnings of anxiety and what you can do to combat them.

I recommend the book "Mindfulness: an Eight-Week Plan for Finding Peace in a Frantic World" by Mark Williams and Danny Penman. It's basically a self-administered MBCT regiment that you can do on your own with a minimal time commitment. Don't lose hope for yourself, anxiety is a vicious cycle than can easily consume you, but just know that careful mental effort on your part CAN begin to break that cycle.
