Slitherlink is one of my favorite puzzle games of all time. There's a free version with tons of puzzles and a paid version with unlimited randomly generated puzzles. It's a fantastic rule-based puzzle game that requires a lot of geometric intuition to solve harder ones.
I recommend starting with Hex grids as the easiest, then square, then kite, then cairo. Despite having the exact same ruleset they each have their own unique behaviour due to the differences in grid intersections. However all of them are fun.
It's from a different game altogether! It's called Alcazar, and it's available on Google Play (and probably the Apple store). It's a great little game for those who love panel puzzles. Absolutely would recommend, but it's mainly a 'time waster' game. If the free levels and online puzzles intrigue you, I'd definitely recommend getting the 'whole package' as opposed to book-by-book. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.theincrediblecompany.alcazar2&hl=en http://www.theincrediblecompany.com/alcazar-1/
> Given that The Witness runs on an engine used by only 1 game, I think it will be a long way down Valve's list of priorities to get working on Proton.
Oh, I dunno about that ;) I still post here 2.5 years later, after all.
We haven't tested it thoroughly, and it's not a supported title, but The Witness should work pretty well. Like you said, the most likely problem is you need to update your drivers. The Witness is a DX11 title, which means it uses DXVK in Proton, and DXVK requires nvidia>=396.54. More info at these links:
https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/blob/proton_3.7/PREREQS.md

(As a caveat, the game does depend on a lot of graphics features in order to complete certain puzzles, so if this is your first time playing it's possible there's a Wine bug that will halt your progress. Not saying that this is true, just that it hasn't been verified as 100% functional.)
I'm not sure to be honest but I would think that having the minimum graphics card is fairly important.
You could try using Can You Run It but they don't currently have The Witness in their database.
If you have an android, you could try out "Push Line - Puzzle Game". It has same mechanics and 250 level (2D only)

I've been using Squid/Papyrus but mostly because I already had it and it works really well with the stylus on my Note 3 (I took almost all of my college notes in it one semester).
Tips for console users:
If the thirs one takes too long, just restart because you haven't lost a lot of progress.
For the maze:
Before starting the record player, have you Phone camera open beside you, ready to be used. Once your at this puzzle, quickly take a picture and finish the puzzle.
For the 4 puzzles that switch order and place:
Just a lot of practice, specially on the shapes one and the 2 colored line one. You can win massive time by completing puzzles fast, even is the order is less ideal.
The shapes don't have to fit together as long as each shape is inside of the one you make. If the shapes can fit together, they don't have the be in the corresponding shape, ad long as they're in the whole shape. *Just made sure the stars are together, both inside or outside the shape, not being separated by the line.
For the 2 colored lines, watch the colors of the dots. If a yellow ar blue one is close to a starting point, let that Color start there.
For the choice puzzles: *Whatch this tutorial: https://youtu.be/ifDl8cwbZHI
On his channel are also tips for the other parts! * Basically, try to identify the wrong ones fast.
You can practice here: A puzzle called looper (great app btw) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=name.boyle.chris.sgtpuzzles
see patterns: 3 must have a U shape, 2 only L or I I (all in any rotation of the shape) .
For the columns Start with the dot one. The channel i linked above also provides tips on this.
Pratice a lot a don't give up!!
You have a bit more than your word. Found this if you are the same Timothy Steen http://www.mobygames.com/developer/sheet/view/developerId,747785/
I also may have found you on linked in, 75% sure... but I wont give that away considering you didn't. And I think I need to stop searching now. :P
I believe that there was an article stating that originally Jon tried constructing a concrete narrative but now the audio logs are apparently (something like) "more in line with the philosophical writings that Braid had" -- when I'm motivated I'll try to find the exact quote, I may be off-base here.
It's far easier to interpret some works as a collection of feelings and thoughts used to evoke some mood, I think
this hip hop tune serves as a pretty good example of that -- the verses are filled with meaning, but the connections are more like a spiderweb than a traceable line

this is how people have deconstructed it
Also all it says im debug window is: 'Godot Engine v3.4.2.stable.official.45eaa2daf - https://godotengine.org OpenGL ES 3.0 Renderer: GeForce GT 630/PCIe/SSE2 OpenGL ES Batching: ON' So i dont think that means something is wrong but maybe im wrong. please help ;-;
I found something. There's definitely an option, on Steam you can right-click the game in the library, click properties and change the language in the "language" tab.
I would be surprised if the Epic Store hasn't hidden that option somewhere, but because it's newer it might be something less documented (or indeed missing).
You can definitely set the language, but you'll have to set a launch option, which I don't know how to do within Epic Store. It's basically like you're doing a link to the witness.exe file on the desktop and set "-language english" or "-language en" or something as a launch option.
I'm really with you here, my OS language isn't English but I usually prefer to play the original (English) version for many games. I don't know if this is your problem or you want to set it to something else but it's definitely annoying when there isn't an easy setting in the menu!
Add a Game → Add a Non-Steam game → Browse, then went into the game folder and selected the .exe file (I think it was witness_d3d11.exe), and then Add Selected Program. PC Gaming Wiki too says it's DRM-free after installation.
First I used the windmill website to make the puzzle. Since it can only make grid shaped puzzles, I had to edit it in Photoshop. Then I used a simple android app to make the clock. Honestly the hardest part was designing an interesting puzzle to fit around the hands of the clock.
Slitherlink is actually one of the more common puzzle types of the Grid + number/letter/symbol genre. I'd say it's under Sudoku and right next to Kakuro.
If you want more, you'll find dozens of apps on your phone's app store that supply these kinds of puzzles. My personal favorite is 100 Logic Games - Time Killers. It's a bit jank, but it's got thousands of these types of grid puzzles.
...as explicitly stated on the Google Play Store: "Requires SHIELD Android TV, a controller, and 3 GB of storage."

It would be awesome to wipe the all memories of the Witness!
If you like to play a similiar game, there is an android game "Push Line - Puzzle Game" which has 250 levels of same mechanics like The Witness. It's 2D.

Check out "Push Line - Puzzle Game" (currently Android only) Its gameplay mechanics are like The Witness but in 2D. It has 250 Levels :)

It's not a phrase I'd specifically heard before, but I don't think it's a terribly new or original concept.
One book I quite like that is not specifically about this concept but does touch on it a bit is "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance."
Beyond that, you might try r/philosophy or a similar sub and see if they have anything on the topic to recommend, as I would fully expect there to be something out there.
Long before The Witness I got hooked on (still am) the puzzle game picross. I've been playing it non-stop for like 6 years now, and nowhere close to getting bored with it. But anyways I discovered if I start a new round I get a blank canvas grid that I can easily fill in the squares by tapping on them and then removing them by tapping again. I first tried the paper cutouts method and this way was so much easier and faster.
