My psychologist recommends this book https://www.amazon.com/Natural-Relief-Adult-ADHD-Complementary/dp/1626251649
Of course, I haven't it read it because, well.... lol
This book helped me a lot https://www.amazon.com/Highly-Sensitive-Person-Thrive-Overwhelms/dp/0553062182. It showed me im not being a whiney baby, Im just naturally more conscious of what is going on. In my case it was because of Adverse Childhood Events (ACEs) cause me to be hyper vigilant and its very difficult to tone it down and it helped me work around it. I should probably read it again but I can't even finish a mushroom hunting 101 book that is less than 80 pages long and has pictures lol.
That's kind of ridiculous. Not everyone reacts to Adderall positively or at all. That's why there are other medications that are (a) different stimulants or (b) not stimulants at all... in addition to Adderall, I've tried Concerta and Vyvanse (both stimulants) and Strattera (non stimulant). The the only thing that works for me is Adderall.
I would maybe get a second opinion.
And for reference, heres a list of all the ADHD medications available: https://www.webmd.com/add-adhd/guide/adhd-medication-chart
Maybe not the 50 words part, but if you record them and run them through some transcription software you won't be far off. I use one for meetings/lectures/interviews and if the audio is clear enough it's usually pretty accurate and will detect different speakers etc.
I use Otter because my workplace does, but I've no idea how it compares to other software, there may be even better ones out there.
It's a real game changer for me as I just cannot listen and take notes properly at the same time and would just end up with the worst of both worlds. Now I can just set it recording and actually engage, which not only improves recall, but actually increases the value of whatever discussion itself if I'm able to raise questions and give input.
Hello! I am (or will be in a few days) 33. I was diagnosed at 30 and tried medication, but hated it. I have a B.S. in Marine and Environmental Biology and Policy and an M.S. in Evolution and Ecology. I am a professor of the biological sciences at a private university and currently working on publishing my research. To do this I have Post It notes everywhere on my desk, a whiteboard and I use Trello to try to organize what needs to be done. The whiteboard is also a must for chores or nothing gets done.
Aside from the ADHD I have social anxiety and very mild OCP which seems to feed off of the ADHD. It's an awesome combination! ;) No amount of work is stimulating enough for me and I tend to need to be involved in multiple things (I read 3 books at once; 1 audio, 1 real and 1 Kindle). I also can't just watch TV and need to also read/post on Reddit while I am watching or building something with Lego helps. It makes my husband insane. I really love exercise and find physical stimulation plus reading or listening to an audio book really helpful.
I have an unhealthy love of creating lists, trying new things for the novelty of it and collecting (books, Lego, Star Wars stuff, etc.). I really love new things for about a week or two then I quickly lose interest. I planned my wedding while working on my M.S. and the stress of juggling everything was glorious.
Nice to meet other women who are going through this! The racing thoughts, lack of sleep, notes everywhere and the forgetting (OH MY THE FORGETTING) - no one really gets it unless they are going through it as well.
I've gotta second your hair suggestion - I have something similar that I bought on a whim because it was like, 50% off or something ridiculous and I was just so over the whole drying/styling process. My hair isn't that difficult - there's almost no curl to it - but I have a lot of it so it takes forever to dry, and even longer if I'm trying to get any volume out of it because juggling a hair dryer and a round brush is difficult and I'm clumsy. Having the dryer inside the brush easily cuts my post-shower hair-styling time in half, which is great because I have a bad habit of waiting until the last possible minute to take a shower lol
What do you use for a foot mask? I recently gave myself a little foot soak and pedicure, and while it was really nice and the results were great, it took a long time and was kind of messy. I'd love to find an easier alternative because I neglect my feet too much.
Yes, do it. Even if it turns out you don't have ADHD, you'll at least have ruled that out and can focus on getting treated for whatever else you may have.
Also: talk to the department that runs student disability services at your school. It's slightly different everywhere, sometimes they're connected with the tutoring center, sometimes they're part of the general administrative services, it varies from school to school. They can help you out with getting testing and filing paperwork with the school so you can get accommodations. Especially for exams, since going by how you describe how your ADHD affects you, taking your exams in an alternative environment would probably do you a world of good.
Another thing, consider picking up a white noise machine from Amazon. The sound they make doesn't sound all that different from when the air conditioning is blowing through the vents, and they're effective at blocking out annoying noises all around you.
I don't know about you, but for trips longer than a weekend, I always somehow manage to forget things like tweezers and nail clippers. Plastic bags (either the grocery bag kind or the sandwich bag kind) usually comes in handy and it's easy to shove 5-10 of them in your luggage.
Since you're going abroad, have you looked into the outlet situation? I have one of these and it's pretty handy
thank you for the suggesstion. after looking at that book, amazon recommended this one and the title alone made me cry.

Lol
For alarms in general, Timely is great. You can customize the ringtone for each of course, but also the snooze timer, a challenge requirement (math, matching, or pattern), and whether it slowly ramps up the volume to wake you gently. You can also sync your alarms across multiple devices, and manage which alarms go of on which devices. It's great to have one alarm go off by my bed, and then 10 mins later, another one goes off downstairs. http://www.bitspin.ch
I also recommend Cozi for household management. It's got a calendar (with events you can assign to categories or people), shopping lists, and recipes (that can be converted to a shopping list). You can have multiple users sync between devices, send event reminders directly to your phone, and log in from a desktop browser too for easier access. My husband and I both have it, so we both add appointments and missing food as needed, so it's lot easier to keep each other in the loop. http://www.cozi.com
You could try one of the tools in here to block yourself from distractions: https://freedom.to/blog/8-website-blockers-for-studying-productivity-focus/ but if you find the subject super boring it won't get you super far...
I had luck setting timers. I can force myself to do something I don't want to for ten minutes.
You could also try finding an accountability buddy. If you have any friends taking the same classes as you get in the same zoom call (or meet in person if you can) and work silently together.
It's really hard though. Good luck!
In my workbook there's a section where your partner(s) fill out the same symptom form that the ADHD-haver does based on their observations of you. Chapter 3 briefly talked about how they could be supporters for you. I'm just halfway through ch 4 so I'm not sure if it's touched on again.
Here's the link to the assessment sheet (free): https://www.hcp.med.harvard.edu/ncs/ftpdir/adhd/18Q_ASRS_English.pdf
and this is the workbook (not free, $30 US): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Your-Adult-ADHD-Cognitive-Behavioral/dp/019023556X/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=mastering+adult+adhd&qid=1614740461&sr=8-2
I hope other TwoXADHD folks have other resources/thoughts, as I’d love to expand my (and my partner who might have ADHD as well) toolkits.
I had the same issue, so I’m just passing on a few things that helped me.
First suggestion: Hire a career coach specifically for interview help. There are a couple of questions that come up in 99% of interviews (“tell me about yourself and why you want this job...”) and having solid, well-rehearsed answers does wonders for your confidence.
Second: Get the audio version of this book and practice answering the questions out loud as he asks them.
Third: If you have a friend in the industry you’re applying to, ask what interview questions you should anticipate.
Final suggestion: Interviewers know that multi-part questions are hard to answer on the spot. Sometimes they ask these questions because they’re bad at interviewing, but sometimes they are trying to assess your ability to self-advocate and ask for clarifying questions. It is absolutely okay to say, “I’m going to start by answering the first part of your question - you asked about X, right?” and “Could you remind me what the second part of your question was?” and “Does that answer your question?” Don’t begin rambling and hope that you manage to answer the question along the way.
Hope that helps!
The only way I can get it done is handwritten! I put my over the ear headphones on with some background instrumental focus music and start writing until I fill 3 pages. I think this works well because it also reduces distraction. If I were on the computer, then I’d want to do other computer things. I’m a leftie, so I like lay flat Dutch binding - this is my favorite journal.
ooh, I didn't realise I could set reminder defaults by calendar :) yay! another fun schedule re-organise for me to... uhm... not do until sunday when I'm supposed to do those things :)
for OP: since I enjoy google calendar, take this with a grain of salt, but I find dtg gtd to be a great ADD-friendly schedule app. its biggest flaw is the lack of a traditional calendar view, but I have widgets set up with different views (main one has overdue, due today and anything with "next action" set; another has everything I starred, meant for fun ideas). I also have a very very useful widget on the bottom bar that takes me to the quick-add activity, so it's never more than two clicks before I can start typing. :) it also has global settings for how intrusive the notifications should be, so if I know I'm having a scatterbrain day I can make it really hard to ignore :)
I read it before getting diagnosed with ADHD and found it interesting but I was not successful at making use of any of it.
The one tidbit I recall that I thought was genius was setting up your environment to make it easier to do things you want and harder to do things you don't want. Maybe it's a stage of life thing but swapping leisure time for more productive hobbies doesn't interest me right now. My life is hard enough, let me do nothing in my spare time, you know? That's what I need.
But if I was engaging in unhealthy activities and wanted to change that, I would totally use that technique.
The one book in that vein that really spoke to me (disclaimer: as a mother of teenage kids who works full time) is ADD-Friendly Ways to Organize Your Life Second Edition: Strategies that Work from an Acclaimed Professional Organizer and a Renowned ADD Clinician
Taking Charge of Adult ADHD (2nd Edition) by Dr. Russell Barkley is a good resource.
He breaks down ADHD by the various executive functions impacted. There’s a series of questionnaires grouped by exec function you can go through. That provides a great starting point for a convo with a doctor.
In the US, a psychiatrist specializing in ADHD is a better bet than a GP for diagnosis.
I can't do them because it feels like I'll do them "wrong." Plus, I have mental "you can't write in books" prohibitions. I have a book of color-the-stickers, though, that I can use. I believe it's this one, but it looks like there are some on Amazon that are specific to other critters too.
Thanks so much! It turns out there are a ton of cursey word colouring books! This is the one I found (link) but I love yours too! The Paris one is nice as well, not too intimidating! Thank you so much.
> don’t let anyone near your food or drink once the staff/server gives it to you. This advice is probably overkill, but better safe than sorry. Actually, I need to look into those date rape drug fingernail polishes… ETA: they aren’t available yet. Phooey
This reminded me of another related product, that I may just get for my next concert I go to. It goes over the top of your cup and keeps anyone from dropping something into it. Pretty clever! NightCap Drink Cover Scrunchie- The Reusable Drink Spiking Prevention Scrunchie
This is the bin I bought. I looped it through my console’s lid and it fits perfectly!
Ok, not sure this qualifies but it's one of my favorite purchases:

If you want to drink more water, this thing is amazing. You feel this bad boy up with some ice and water (and a squirt of MIO flavoring, for me) and it'll remain ice cold FOREVER. Like, over night, the next day, etc. I love it.
https://www.amazon.com/FlexiKold-Gel-Pack-Standard-Large/dp/B07GH5TL35/
I love these. They're like a squishy clay inside, so they're satisfying to squish, and they stay cold for ages. I have ones that look and function good as new even after 7 years of near daily use.
I take one to bed almost every night, and so does my partner. We use them to kinda distract enough so that little aches/sensations aren't bothersome. Sometimes I just leave it on my pillow next to my face so I have a little pocket of cool air lol Usually I use them folded in half, so if I wake up in the middle of the night I can just unfold it to find a little pocket of cold that helps me get back to sleep lol
Also super helpful for anxiety for me if something's got me really bad. The cold helps distract and it's squishy.
I usually get the 2 packs of the medium size, bc I find the larger ones to be a bit excessively cumbersome
She got two ~10 packs of different ones actually! Part because she wanted to figure out which she liked best, and part because she knew she'd lose them. At least half have vanished over the last 3 months - but her favourite spinner has been on daily for at least a month. I think its from this pack: https://www.amazon.ca/BikBok-Unisex-Stainless-Anxiety-Spinner/dp/B09KRJZFFB/
(I'm really glad she got a bunch of cheapies to just address the problem, instead of spending a lot of stress looking into one that was fancier but would get lost (and stress her out). Sometimes its so so worth it just to take the easy road and that's something we've been trying to encourage each other to do to accommodate our ADHD)
Highly recommend something with active noise cancelling. These get rid of a rattly vent above my desk without music even playing.
Was very pleasantly surprised.
https://www.amazon.com/Skullcandy-Wireless-Cancelling-Over-Ear-Headphone/dp/B08G1ZBKGP
I’m the same! My friend has this chair and I visited her house a while back. It was a game changer. I could sit however I wanted to sit at the desk. It’s pricey, so Im having to save up for a while to afford one of my own, but it’s worth it to me just because I feel like I might be more productive if I’m comfortable at my desk. I always end up moving to the floor or my bed or the couch and getting literally nothing done.

It is so hard to remember to do self care with ADHD! I am guilty of forgetting to brush my hair for days on end. I've resorted to cutting out bad knots and covering my dry hair with conditioner to manually work out other knots (some knots can take 20+ min to detangle). I don't have the same kind of hair, but I do have super fine and long hair that knots like crazy if I don't have it pulled up in a bun/clip/braided. One.of daughters has very thick hair with curls and I kept breaking her hair and mine trying to get our knots out. I found these de-tangling brushes that are for black hair, but work for most types even when dry, that are amazing. If you haven't tried one yet, I hear they are fantastic and easy to use on your type of hair. I love them and my daughter doesn't complain anymore about getting brushed. Something like this: No Pain Detangler https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M18EDJO/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_ZB3ZF3ES119QTXF6EDH2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I hope it gets better as you finish school and can afford more. Don't feel too bad in the meant time, and remember you are not alone!
I got these and they are amazing.
Also use it for my cat’s medication and kid’s ADHD medication.

I love how this book frames deals with stress. Its all based on the latest science and centred on women Burnout
ADHD in Marriage is highly recommend for both partners even if you're not married. Super helpful in understanding the pitfalls and things you can do to try and overcome them.

Try Habitica. Turns daily tasks into an RPG game. I only tried it for a few days years ago so I can't really speak to it now, but worth looking into. Good luck!

If I may, I recommend something like this:

I love this question!
I use Calm.com of I want background noise to be more mellow, and then Brain Food playlist on Spotify if I want a bit more energy. I like these options because there aren’t really any lyrics to distract me lol
It's amazing because you can create your own soundscapes and the moment you start tuning in to something you can just go in and turn it off if it's distracting you!
Pomodoro works ok for me, but definitely feel free to customize it! I do 45 minutes of work and a 20-30 minute break. The break may seem excessive, but it's what works best for me after lots of trial and error. I feel like I'm productive enough to justify it (anyway, without it I'd be getting nothing done lol). If you want to stay away from your screen (or only have your work pulled up), consider getting a timer like this. I like this one because of the visual. If you're ok with using a desktop app, I really like Pomotroid.
I also use the "focus" feature on my iPhone to mute most notifications, but I can still get notifs from people like my boss and coworkers.
Binaural sounds also can help me focus sometimes, especially when I'm in the middle of my pomodoro work time. I just look them up on youtube, but I find some work better than others for me. There's tons of options so you can find what you like.
Ultimately the most important part of managing my symptoms is the medication, so I hope you find what works best for you!
i got mine from crate and barrel but i just googled and amazon carries it! i like that it’s not dated so i can just use it whenever necessary.

Apologies for my obvious wrongness (honestly, adhd moment on my part). At this point levels of certain gut flora species (nothing to do with taking bio similar oral probiotics) impacting ADHD symptoms is only a hypothesis in its infancy based on studies like this one:
I don’t know why I didn’t fact check myself like I normally would have when using a term like “empirical evidence”. I guess I got excited because I’ve just been officially diagnosed with ADHD after a lifetime of feeling like a total freak.
Loop Quiet Noise Reduction Earplugs – https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08MFDT65P/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_5FFYNCQ7SHPCQR6Q0HAF?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 My husband and I struggle with the noise stuff too (both ADHD). He has loved these so far. I wonder he's like you because I swear, the amount of times I've asked him to stop yelling since I've known him is too damn high. He's said what you've said, that with the other noise going on, he can't tell that he's yelling. I thought he was just loud but I'm going to go apologize to him after reading this. Maybe it's connected somehow.
I can relate. If you've ever read any of the current resurgence of writing on emotional labor, it's almost entirely stuff that is hard or impossible with ADHD AND it's stuff that tends to fall to women as default. I think this is the biggest issue with women and ADHD- in relationships (and in general) men tend to get more slack on things like caring about other people's needs and remembering details about their lives, housework and organization, planning and scheduling, etc. Generally, maintaining social relationships. WHICH IS SUCH AN IMPORTANT THING THAT IT SHOULD BE ALL HANDS ON DECK. So, yeah, part of it is that ADHD makes it hard but the other part is that in heteronormative pairings, the woman is the partner that is typically expected to take on this work.
Metafilter thread+article. Metafilter megathread, condensed.
Ooooh we have this in the main room bc I have allergies to dogs and dust, dust mites etc. It has 3 strengths. It helps so much. I also have one at work.
If you have central air, def get some allergy rated air filters!
I have this one from Garmin:
Garmin vivomove HR, Hybrid Smartwatch for Men and Women, Gold with Leather Band
I love it. It's cute, it's simple, it's easy. There's not so many options that you would get distracted. It lasts 5 days on a charge, but after it dies, it will still work for a week or so as a plain watch. It's not perfect, but it's perfect for me!

I like how flat they are for my pocket, and they are very discrete but also provide pressure.
HAI! Also 37! Diagnosed at 32 with ADHD-Combined, Dysgraphia, and a crapload of Complex-PTSD and its friend Agoraphobia. In the beginning I couldn't tell the C-PTSD apart from the ADHD, but with the PTSD symptoms calming down it's getting easier.
I couldn't do college - it takes me 5 times as long to write things as other people i.e. I've been tweaking this post for three days. I'm fortunate in that I can teach myself the computer things and get the jobs for them. I do fine in jobs that involve human interaction, are challenging technically, and super fast paced or laboriously meticulous.
I can't do stimulants. 3 days on Ritilan and I have to sleep 3 days to recover. Adderall had this come down thing... Straterra didn't do jack. So I'm onto other methods.
I did Lumosity for a year, 4 years ago, and ohmygod it helped my memory so very much. It also helped with impulse control - they have this horrible horrible game called Color Match where you have to NOT CLICK on things and IT'S SO HARD OMG! But it taught me pause, taught me how to keep my mouth shut. And nowadays if I forget to put something on the grocery list I can stand in the aisle and it COMES to me.
I switched to /r/keto, plus take 2000mg of EPA fish oil per day and 2000mg of L-Tyrosine.
Yes! I use a program called MeisterTask which is totally supposed to be for businesses, but it helps me organize my entire life in one place & set calendar reminders for anything and everything. Huge, huge help when I get into the routine of actually using it properly haha
I recently started using this timer at work: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07L2P9QFT/ref=dp_iou_view_item?ie=UTF8&psc=1
There are other versions of this type of timer, but the nice thing is that you don't need to really think... you just flip it over and it will beep once it hits the number you chose.
If I have a meeting in 20-25 min, I'll set this to 15 and just let my mind focus on what it needs to do. Then the beep shocks me out of what I'm doing so that I can get to events on time.
You could try this: Shock Clock 2-Silent Vibrating/Zapping Alarm Clock for Heavy Sleepers&Couples. Disable with Jumping Jacks/QR Code Scan. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P83FTR5/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_AXCV96MZT1WKXMN6GEHY
Of course it is expensive so I would try some of the other things mentioned here first, I got it when they came out with the first version. Mine stopped working and I never bothered replacing it but they seem to have made some improvements since then.
I have no association with the author or the publisher of this book, but I think you might find this at least interesting, if not helpful.

I'm fortunate that my temporary obsessions tend to be more relatable since I get really into lore-heavy fiction. TV, movies, books, video games, doesn't matter what media. If it has a good story, good character development, and interesting lore, I'm probably going to spend way too much time learning every detail of... well, let's face it, shit that doesn't actually matter because "relatable" doesn't equal "interesting to everyone in the firehose of yammering you want to do about it" lol. At least I'm starting to recognize when my husband's eyes start to glaze over when he's trying really hard to pretend he's still listening - I've told him he should feel free to interject when my rambling gets out of control, but he doesn't always do it!
My biggest problem right now is my current hyperfocus: Marvel properties. I've been an MCU fan pretty much since Iron Man came out, but got really into it over pandemic lockdowns and the lead-up to Wandavision. After that came out, it just got so much worse lol. Every week, after every episode, I was on YouTube, obsessively watching analyses, easter egg lists, and theories (because apparently everything is Mephisto lol). That continued with Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, and now What If.
And that's not even counting the comics lore that I've been deep diving! I even subscribed to Marvel Unlimited and am now reading comics. To be fair, I've always wanted to get into comics ever since I was kid but getting started always seemed so daunting. But I am starting to wonder if I'm developing a serious problem lol.
At least I'm still holding firm on my Funko Pop moritorium! I had kind of gone on a bit of spree earlier this year. I'm at least waiting until the last of my pre-orders comes in, which should be my new Captain America in December.
Giant white board!
Its the only way i can do any thing. I have one big one and two small ones.
On the big one i have move able white board magnets like this cut in to 5cm long strips
https://www.amazon.com.au/Dry-Erase-Magnetic-Strips-Refrigerator/dp/B07DQN1P78
It is great for planing my day cos i can move them around or move them across when they are done. They are so useful for planing all kinds of things.
I try not to put any thing on the big one for longer than a few days which keeps it fresh and helps with my attention, those kind of things are for the small board.
The two small boards are for more long term things and things like my exercise plans and meal ideas.
Still not perfect and slip up a lot, i don't think any system could be but it is my best tool so far.
a piece of plexiglass w/ some double sided clear tape? OOOOH These are cool.
My purse had all kinds of random stuff. I always win those shower games where you get points for having just generic crap all the time.
On a more useful note though, the main thing I "need" is access to all the medications I might want or need. This includes Rx and OTC. I have a pill case that I carry with me that has everything (or more usually keep in the truck since I don't always take my purse with me).
In here, I keep meds for headache/migraine, motion sickness, acid reflux, allergy, melatonin/OTC sleeping pills, Rx pain meds (as needed), Adderall (because I recently noticed that there are days that I don't need to focus per se but I do need help controlling emotions), nausea and more.
I also take meds daily and skipping a dose is really not an option for me. There have been a handful of times where I've had the spontaneous opportunity to stay somewhere other than home and my decision has been made by having access to meds. Therefore, I have a few doses of my daily meds that usually are in one of those Mon-Sun type organizers.
This organizer has worked so well for me (and my husband) that we have a total of 4- one for me, one for him, one for extended time away (like a long vacation-this one stays in my travel bag), and currently one spare. I used my label maker to add labels to the different pockets and sometimes have more than one thing in a pocket.
For my husband I also printed out a label with instructions on how to take the meds as well as what to take for different things.

I've put in the Amazon link for what I take below. It may be a completely different formulation than what you take, possibly not nearly as potent because it seems like it's way more micrograms than your dose. I've never noticed any acne problems, but as I said I can't ever remember to take them. And now I know what to look for in case I need to dial it back. Thanks again!
I put my pills on my desk, and I bought a these stick on thing to help me remember when I do or not take them.

OP, I clench my jaw at night and I use this customizable mouth guard: https://www.amazon.com/SOVA-Night-Guard-Custom-Fit-Night-Time/dp/B00NBU4QX8/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=sova+mouth+guard&qid=1614106507&sr=8-5
It's thin and doesn't always prevent pain, but it helps most of the time for me and reduces tooth wear. Make sure it covers the entirety of the top row of your teeth. If it doesn't, you could cause odd tooth wear, which could affect your bite.
Definitely drink a lot of water, too! I got a half-gallon jug so I don't have to fill it up as often.
I have used every app/notes in my phone etc etc, but the only way I can mostly stick to it is with a bullet journal. I loved the idea, but needed a little more structure to keep me interested, so I loooove this kind. It has a calendar overview in the front, the undated months and week views, but you can enter the dates as you go. So if you miss a week or a month, you don’t waste a whole planner. But it has enough structure to make it easy.
I use the blank pages for “brain dumps” and “projects to do if I have time” and “giant year end goal” with lists etc etc.

This book was suggested by a friend because he wished his ex wife had found the book before it caused their divorce. https://www.amazon.com/Highly-Sensitive-Person-Thrive-Overwhelms/dp/0553062182
He's an extrovert but quiet and his ex wife is a lovely woman, they still love each other but are not IN love. They get each other's struggles but she would avoid so much of the world because she didn't understand why her reactions were so strong to things.
My friend recommended the book because I said every time my townhouse neighbor came home and their door slammed I wanted to vomit.
There is some cross over of ADHD/ Autism Spectrum Disorder / PTSD and I did have quite the Adverse Childhood Expericen (ACE) which could cause quite the crossover/mélange of emotions but it was good to learn Im not just "crazy".
I still do this, but I'm getting better.
Just remember: you don't have to believe everything you think. Thoughts are not facts or even beliefs. They're just thoughts.
Also, think about just how much energy you're spending on the project of self-loathing. Hating yourself is expensive. What else could you be doing with that energy? I try to distract myself with a project when my brain starts to get mean.

I use the inner guide journal and I love it

I took if farther and got this spice stack thing that holds 30 spices in about a square foot of space. It has three drawers that pull out, and comes with lots of labels. I’m a big cook, and spice organization has been driving me crazy since middle school—this totally changed that.
This Travelon bag is my holy grail. Lots of little pockets for everything, big enough to carry my planner/journal with me, not so big I have to dig for everything, has a water bottle pocket.
I slapped a wallet on my phone case so now I'm super minimal.
Previously, I found small messenger bags work well like this: https://www.amazon.com/Classic-Messenger-Journey-Shoulder-Traveling/dp/B00PEOKUO8/
I use Business Calendar 2 (pro version, I think). It's similar to Google Calendar but feels a bit more sleek to me. I bought it with survey money, and I think I had some kind of discount (I've been using it since v1, so... idk how long), so upgrading to pro was "free."
I second the comments about hooks and buckets. I also found this book chock full of ideas: https://www.amazon.com/ADD-Friendly-Ways-Organize-Your-Life/dp/1583913580/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1483892460&sr=8-1&keywords=adhd+ways+to+organize+your+life Biggest take away: make the system work for you instead of adapting to the system.
Yup. I have a case for my iPhone six and have used the same one for years now:

I also have Tiles on both my keys and my work Id. At least helps me find them in the morning/make sure they're in my bag at end of day.
I kinda wish they were trackers though that alert me when they're too far away.
There's no right way to organize something. If you implement a system and things get disorganized sometime after, it's a failed system, not a personal failure on your part.
May I suggest this book?
It was a huge help for me, and laid out in a way that it's easy to read and easy to reference. The gist of it is that you recognize what works for you and your family, and then adapt the systems to your needs.
[Edited for grammar. Of course!]
I thought Scattered was a great read. Particularly since it approaches the topic in a way that focuses more on relationships (with parents AND partners) and emotional impact, rather than genetics and testing.
I have PI as well. Stimulants are fantastic for me.
That said, until you get an appointment and see a doctor, you need to figure out how to cope. I have found that it's fairly helpful to write/make notes compulsively. Specifically, start with a very high level overview, and then start filling in new levels of detail, rewriting everything with each iteration. You'll develop muscle memory for where things are and how they relate to each other. Something like this may also help you, since it combines rote memorization with coloring (sorta a physical activity).
Also, talk to your professors and see if your school will help you with accommodations and other services. It may be that you can get extra help, tutoring, etc., and if not, your profs will at least be a bit more understanding and may be willing to help you out. As a former instructor (grad student teacher) I always appreciated knowing when my students were having trouble (and why) because it meant I could at least try to help.
Good luck!
Is this something like what you mean to record:http://www.amazon.com/iGearPro-Voice-Activated-Audio-Recorder/dp/B00UW0VG2E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1437951990&sr=8-1&keywords=dictaphone+recorder
Many doctors don't know jack about how breastfeeding works and what does or doesn't get into your milk/effect your baby. This app is fantastic and recommend by Lactation Consultants. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.infantrisk.mommymeds.paid I was diagnosed when I was pregnant with my 2nd. She is 7mos and I am still unmedicated. That decision had nothing to do with the pregnancy and breastfeeding. Good luck.
