There’s actually been some good books written about the racist history of gun control, and how firearms played a role in the civil rights movement: https://www.amazon.com/This-Nonviolent-Stuffll-Get-Killed-ebook/dp/B00IHGVQNY/ref=nodl_
Buy a Sightmark laser boresight in the right caliber (<$30 on Amazon), put some clear tape across the front of the can, assemble and check concentricity. Bonus, you can do a rough sight-in of your optics with the same laser.
I heard about this technique from Dr Phil Dater who is basically the OG of the American suppressor industry.
As a certified fat-ass slob (FAS ^^TM ) who wears pajama pants or shorts 90% of the time (because I can), I carry a G48 in this off-body bag. It's a tad small for everything I have (EDC includes a pretty extensive PFAK) but it's nice to have everything at my fingertips. I also like that it just looks like a murse rather than a carry bag - that was my top criteria.

Security door. Or window film. Either will stop random tweakers. Of course a truly determined attacker could still make entry with significant effort. But deterrence is 90% of the game.
If you don't want to keep it in your regular wallet, get something really tiny like the Magpul micro wallet that holds 1-3 cards and will disappear in any pocket.
There's also the class at West Coast Armory North in South Everett, which has a Groupon for their 4-hour course, further away from you, but you get an extra hour plus the discount:
If you can drive down to Milton, I just bought some of these from a guy named Dave. My buddy has some and they work very well, the stands fold up so they're easy to transport and set up. Well worth the money we've been using them for years. https://offerup.com/item/detail/754973734/
It would appear that the url is registered and hosted with google domains, but likely the hosting is little more than space to run rocket.chat which presumably is encrypted. I do not know what logging rocketchat has, or how safe it is compared to what OP has provided.
All that aside, I would point out this relevant XKCD.
Good concerns and I'm glad you brought this up. I am the sole operator so I have not written a privacy policy but when I do it will more or less be a clone of Rocket Chat's privacy policy since the website is run entirely on their software. If you're interested in Rocket Chat's philosophy towards security as a whole I'd check out this page.
That being said, I do not intend to enable any logging other than error messages (within Rocket Chat). As far as nginx, the server software, the only data logged would be IP address / date / time etc. And then of course the standard cookies for people who want to stay logged in. The best part about open source software is any one can audit the source code at any time to look for any malicious scripts.
Might be worth trying a cheap left-hand bit to get that screw out and replace it. Certainly cheaper than taking it to most gunsmiths. https://smile.amazon.com/wesleydrill-Left-Hand-Drill-13pcs/dp/B08VHTSZPW
I haven't used a humidity card but I got one of these $50 sensors and it's been very useful to understand how the temp and humidity fluctuate in my basement.
For the upper, you only need three special tools --
Armor's wrench for the buffer tube castle nut (your handguard will probably come with a special wrench if it doesn't use a stock barrel nut.)
Either a Reaction Rod or a clam shell upper receiver vise block
Roll pin punches and holders, but some people swear you just need a hammer. If you have a set of punches, you can also stake the castle nut when you're done.

You'll also need a torque wrench capable of no more than 80 lbs-ft torque and matches the drive in your armor's wrench.

Not many tools honestly, and the vise block is a must vs trying to rig up some thing to hold the upper and risk scratching or denting your new upper and handguard.

This set of punches happen to include all roll pin punches I needed to build my first AR.

RE: Paper indicatiors:
There are many kinds of dessicant, if yours is "rechargable" in an oven and in a poly/paper bag the crystals/beads will have to be removed prior (unless instructed otherwise). Are there no instructions included?
If you want to stay with the dessicants and just keep recharging them, something like this can be kept in the metal container while in the oven and the color of the crystals change to indicate they are kaput: https://www.amazon.com/LOCKDOWN-Silica-Gel-750-grams/dp/B004QUIWAA
So for $40 all in your worries can be over, until you search for "vci emitters"...
I'll second SafariLand, have several and really like them. Also, they're not too expensive; you can find SafariLand ALS models for around $50.
Here are some left handed Glock 19 models available on Amazon with Prime shipping:
7378 - About $40 depending on options
6378 - About $60 depending on options
Hopes makes some too. I wipe down hands / exposed arms after shooting. Dwipe Lead Remover Wipes, 40 count wipes per canister https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01633BXLM/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_G0K6JP4FFQM8ZZZT91CZ
Advertised as being for Medicare cards but my CPL also fits.
This state has relatively high humidity so keep them either in mil type ammo cans with new looking seals or my new found favorite https://www.homedepot.com/p/IRIS-82-Qt-Remington-Weather-Tight-Store-It-All-Storage-Bin-in-Black-296004/300735811
Then get a bag of indicating/rechargeable dessicant packs for each can like these https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07Q39VZKL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_2KADKM8GDYAKJQJA8S3D
Avoid MTM ammo cans as those do not keep out humidity, all of their sizes of cans are terrible at it and turn my color changing dessicant from blue to pink in like 1 month.

If don't have the correct tools, buy them. AR maintenance is super easy.
Ah yes, I like Custer. Thinking I may join up this year. We have an event April 27/28 this year. Here is the Groupon (https://www.groupon.com/deals/project-appleseed-160?utm_source=&utm_campaign=UserReferral_ma) you should come out.
I may be out of line, but if youre not super fammiliar with firearms (assuming because you dont own any), jumping straight to concealed carry on public transportation might not be the best plan. i would suggest getting a simple rectangular hard case, buying the handgun, and either shop ranges until you find one you like, or shop around for classes and get more fammiliar. i had one pretty bad experience in seattle when I first got my CPL, I bent over to grab something and my glock popped out, and i ended up with some lady screaming at me in front of her kids.
It took me a little while to learn how to conceal it better, what to expect when i move certain ways, how to calmly talk to confrontationial people about it, and how to draw from a holster comfortably. it probably would have been a better experience if i just took the class from the get go, or got more range time in before i started carrying.
as far as long guns go, just get a generic looking long case. people more often than not stay out of other peoples business on the bus, unless they find a reason not to.
Well you can get a nice cheap gun cabinet from Walmart for 50 bucks if inflation hasn't caused it to go crazy I did that for my closet. Has a lock already as part of it.
Edit: this is the cheapest thing I found. Walmart carries them too same price.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08WR88Z5V/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_8SXSWVM1BZH0DADXE0KF
Just keep the keys. But make sure your stuff would fit. Search for something like this. This is a dumb law but he wouldn't have access imo.
I ended up going with this one https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08PK5Z4W3/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_T80WFVPD46H5P94SWV96?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I haven't gotten a chance to hit the range yet so I can't speak for how well it works, but it seems well built and the laser is very strong, no problems seeing it at distance in bright sunlight. My only complaint is the attachments for the specific bore size aren't labeled so it's guess and check when you are setting it up.
MOJO Outdoors Portable Shotgun Shell Hull Retriever Pick Stick - Shotgun Accessories, Pick Up Stick Grabber, Magnetic Pickup Tool https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QQQP8B6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_XPAAHFZBVRM1ZQRB0X6X
I use this to pickup shotgun shells every time I go shoot. Works well and it saves a ton of time cleaning up. Getting a lot more steel case left at the spot I go so I’ve been picking that up as well.
Grabs about 8-10 shells at a time. Wear a glove and sweep them off into a box.
I bought this one for the same reasons. Purchased mine in 2018 and no issues. Mrgunsngear has a good review up on YouTube about it as well.

Agree on Fort Knox as a bedside pistol safe. A slightly cheaper, but not as heavy duty one from V-Line i also pretty good.
https://www.amazon.com/V-Line-Brute-Heavy-Quick-Access/dp/B00K20E8S8
I have both and prefer the heftiness of the Fort Knox. Both utilize simplex mechanical locks which are fast and no need of batteries. With some practice you can open these and have the gun in hand in about 2 seconds from first touch. Please note though, someone with enough time and patience can still brute force simplex locks by trying every possible combination since simplex locks do not allow repeating of the same number in the combination. I think I read somewhere that for a 5-code lock it would take around 20 minutes to 30 minutes to brute force every possible combo. But for the purposes of keeping a young kid out, this is not an issue. Both Fort Knox and Vline also allows pushing two numbers at once as part of your combo which does significantly increase the number of possible combos.
That works for me . I keep AR mags separately in one of these mounted to the side of my safe.
I use rubber straps. The target recovers faster and stays put put better than chain. Some people cut up old tires to save money.
I have the Caldwell E-Max Low Profile (Amazon.com: Caldwell E-Max - ADULT Green - Low Profile Electronic 23 NRR Hearing Protection with Sound Amplification - Adjustable Earmuffs for Shooting, Hunting and Range: Sports & Outdoors) which work well when shooting rifles. The sound quality is ok - but I usually double up with foam earplugs when shooting the .308, so I don't really notice the sound quality anyways :)
They're only $23 right now...
Yes, I do. S&W M&P 9 with a Surefire X300U attached. I also use a DG switch, which puts a light activation button underneath my middle finger as I grip the gun. This means I don't have to shift my grip at all to activate the light.
I use a Raven Concealment holster which is designed to accept the gun/light combination.
Is it heavy and bulky? Yes. I consider a white light on a handgun mandatory, no different than a rifle, because you can't shoot what you can't see.
Sticking these on plain letter/legal size paper is also fast, cheap, and works great. You can vary up the locations on the paper, use them to plug holes on existing targets, etc... Uses as targets are limited only by your imagination. For a challenge, they have these in 2 and 1 inch sizes.
One drill I like is getting different colored stickies on the same target and have a friend randomly call out the colors for you to shoot. Really trains your cognitive ability to process information and fast sight alignment before shooting. It maybe a bit advanced if you are a self professed "newbie", but its a fun drill.
+1 to printing your own targets. You can do an image search online and get lots of examples.

For ammo, keep an eye out on r/InStockAmmo. I don't know a .22 but from what I've seen, .5cpr (give or take a couple cents) is a more reasonable price nowadays.
Is this it?

https://www.amazon.com/Sighthound-Ballistics-Blackout-Magazine-Marking/dp/B077TXTZMQ?th=1
I do for sure. It's super wet and humid on the west side. I've had steel case rust after a few years. It's worth it if you plan to store it for very long.
Not exactly a live range, but have you looked at virtual training apps?
There`s a new one called crackshot.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xksoftwaredevelopment.CrackshotLaserRangeTrainer
It is on IOS as well.
Still working out the bugs, but depending on your guns, it might be a start.
I like this for concealed carry.
Question 2) There are lots of options for your HammerliTac. They use standard picatinny rails, which means any amount of scopes, dots, new sights, etc can be added with ease.
For an inexpensive but solid reddot, look at a TRS-25
Pretty much anything that will go on a picatinny rail will fit on your HammerliTac
(edit: removed scope...missed that it was a weaver not a pic)
I run quite a few different calibers and I found that surplus cans got a bit cumbersome to take in quantity to the range or store...
I swapped all mine out to these sleds.
https://www.amazon.com/MTM-Ammo-Crate/dp/B08FS8JH7Z
https://www.amazon.com/MTM-AC3C-3-Can-Crate-Caliber/dp/B077N55R2N
The cans on them are good, they seal quite well. And the sleds make them awesome for going to the range or SHTF because you just grab the sled and go. I keep them all set so I could grab 2 sleds and have everything I would need and they stack. (edit: words)
May I suggest getting a dessicant dehimidifer rather than one that uses a compressor if you go that route. Inexpensive, operates at lower temperatures and best of all very quiet. Not sure what dessicant you are working with but doesn't 0% humidity cause problems? A cheap wireless humidity/temp monitor system will save you a lot of guesswork, this one isn't cheap but if you like looking at graphs and setting hi/low alarms it can't be beat: https://www.amazon.com/Ambient-Weather-WS-3000-X3-Thermo-Hygrometer-Wireless/dp/B01FXYQ8MQ
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00D1WYY9C/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_RHuwFbZ6FY9NV
This works well if you can easily get power inside the cabinet
That is solid work. If you can hold 8 MOA, you're shooting 8s or better. My personal goal at present is "all shots in the black" for offhand, which I could do if I stopped squeezing the trigger on bad shots. Once I make that, the goal changes to all 10s. For practice on the cheap, a .22 rifle is great for followthrough, as is the used Daisy M853 that the CMP sells.
Re: spotting scopes, I bought one of these about a month ago for my son, when they were $100. The eye relief isn't quite as good as my KonuSpot-80, which is another common budget choice, but I think the glass is better. If you can see .223 holes at 100 yards, what you have is fine: that's usually more difficult than seeing a spotter!
I have 3 of these drawer types: https://www.amazon.com/American-Security-Hide-A-Safe-Handgun-Safe/dp/B00VS9G6O6
2 mounted in my bedroom for his and hers bedside gun storage and one in my walk in closet for my OC piece. Sturdy and fool proof. I've had many 'auto-open' and bio boxes before and they all kinda sucked in some way or other.
Disclaimer, these (and most small boxes) are only to keep small children out of and shouldn't be considered a safe. That's what my safe is for.
You could look into getting an OWB locking kydex holster. I have a safariland one and the release to the lock is concealed slightly under where the grip of the gun is. It's also far enough inside that it would be hard to activate the release switch without having a thorough grip on the firearm which is considerably harder to achieve for anyone who isn't physically wearing it.
The one I have is pretty similar to this https://www.amazon.com/Safariland-Pro-Fit-System-Paddle-Holster/dp/B07662HR1Y
Okay, I do that a lot as well. A few months ago, I was in your exact situation, needing a range bag.
I have a hunting backpack that I was using, but it's camo, and I live in Seattle and don't won't to have a stupid conversation with anti-gun people any time I want to go shoot and have to walk between my home and my truck.
I also thought about using a tool bag, but I want something that is more convenient to use for guns.
In short, I was looking for tactical on the inside, everyday life on the outside.
I found a few of them on Amazon, but ended up going with this one. I don't have any complaints about it. I mean, I guess I wish it had more mag pouches, but that is a bit unreasonable given the number of mags I have. I have both a double stack and a single stack 9mm, and I like to load the mags up before I go to the range. In order to load ~150 rounds for the single stack, I bought a bunch of mags for it. In total I have 30 mags just for that gun, and another 5 for the double stack. I use the mag pouches provided, and just toss the others in the bag.
Other than my mags, I bring my guns in there carry cases, eye protection, hearing protection, a couple of wrenches, nuts, bolts, and washers that I use to setup my targets, a water bottle, a tarp, and a trash bag to pickup after myself.
The bag is small and convenient to carry around, but also has more space than I really need given the items I bring. Then again, I have a tendency to grow into these things, so who knows, maybe another gun :)
After shopping around and mulling it over for a couple weeks, i bought the Holosun HE512CGD. I cant speak on it as it still has about a week before it arrives, but the solar, battery life, shake awake, style, and such were hard to beat. Yes it was more than i wanted to spend on a dot, but buy once cry once. I went with the Gold dot because it is going on a build themed after my cat and she has gold eyes and i feel like the gold would be easier for ME to use vs other color options (ideally id have a blue dot but the only blue ones out there are not brands known for quality) Ill try to remember to update this when i get it.
My buddy got a cheap amazon red dot (CV life) and that is currently sitting on my gun. Held zero and works well enough, but im not personally into it. Mainly having to manually turn it on/off. my 2¢
If you're not looking to spend too much, there is a pretty good Amazon deal on the Centerpoint 1-4x optic. This is a decent little budget fast acquisition scope with quality comparable to Primary Arms - I actually like it better than my old PA 1-4x. Lots of good reviews out there for you to check out, it's really a sleeper. Even comes with an offset mount which will work well with most AK side mount rails.
I have two and I've been pretty pleased. I wouldn't consider it any sort of serious work optic by a long shot, but the ones I have seem durable for casual use. I have not put one on a 7.62x39 or .308 rifle but the reviews show that there shouldn't be much issue.

This is the holster:

It holds the gun well and it's comfy.
I was just thinking a whistle or an air horn might be a good idea to carry hiking regardless. There's a company that actually makes emergency whistles you can hook to your zipper pull so you'll always have something with you.
Edited to add: Found them.
If you have some Paracord and I know you do you can save some money and just add that bit yourself.
