I honestly kinda wish Bloodborne stuck with the Gothic horror and focused on providing a more cohesive experience and story, while keeping more subtle 'hints' at a cosmic going on, rather than having it be so overt.

Lovecraft is at it's best, IMO, when it's subtle. early game in Bloodborne was fantastic for this and I really liked it. Then the game, suddenly, just drops it on you.

Let's be real, here. Kirby has been doing the 'surprise lovecraft' twist for years before Bloodborne. It goes from this to this.

You should most definitely read Carmilla. It's a short story/novella(?) about a young woman and her father, they rescue a mysterious foreign noblewoman who quickly befriends the young woman. They have a romantic relationship, though I don't want to say too much more without ruining the plot.

Anneliese reminded me of Carmilla so I imagine you'll like it. I've never seen a good adaptation of the story, unfortunately.

Barnes & Noble sells a pretty sweet hardcover compendium of the complete fiction for only $18, I picked it up a few years ago and love it. It looks like an old bible with silver lined pages and a ribbon marker, and the cover is awesome and shiny... It also orders them all in chronological order of when they were written, and gives a little info about the story before each one. It's a truly great edition, and at that price it's a steal. Really, only Miyazaki directs Souls they way they need to. Even From Software couldn't do it quite right with Dark Souls II... also other companies try to do Souls-esque games and come up short.

I don't know your tastes. If you like Fromsoft RPGs, try Dark Souls 1. Just expect the combat to be slower than BB.

Opencritic is a lot more trustworthy than Metacritic, and their top PS4 games reflects this pretty well. Pretty much every game on the first 2 pages is a killer.

While Bloodborne has had issues identified, it is not on the list of games with critical issues.

The only thing I did to the wig was cut it, but I weathered the boots with acrylic paints and fake blood, and folded it down and painted the edge too! I bought myself this controller a while back for my PS4. Raze Raiju TE. It had Xbox style sticks. It’s the best controller I have ever owned so far. It’s ergonomics and the extra bumpers on the top that are pretty incredible! Plus it has extra paddles on the lower end too.

If the lower paddles were positioned in a more trigger-like shape I think it would be the best controller ever.

However, I don’t use it on my PS5, which is a bummer, because to get the PS5’s better audio you have to use the Dual Sense or a USB headset.

I had a lot of trouble finding a good rip of the Mindflayer Bell from Demon's Souls (which is the same bell the Bell Lady uses occasionally in Bloodborne). I ended up ripping it from my stream of Bloodborne and cleaning it up in Audacity. Weapons he has are Fire Saw Cleaver, Arcane Threaded Cane (ARCANE CANE!?), and a Saw Spear (not sure what element).

Have you tried a Fire Saw Spear? Completely wrecks anything that is a beast (Besides Watchdog of the Old Lords) since both of its modes are serrated. Saw weapons are great for PvP and PvE, and the Cane is pimpin. You do not need Ludwigs for an Arcane build.

The jacket was grass green, the hat was tiny and misshaped. I stretched the hat and cut the inside liner so it could be stretched and added wire to the fins at the top so they could be positioned. The jacket was a bitch to dye. It’s polyester so dying it took a couple of tries because you have to keep the dye bath at near boiling temperature. Because of the size of the jacket and not having a big enough pot, I had to use a metal horse feeding trough and put it over a fire outside to dye it black. Then, after dying it and letting it dry, I realized that it still had a green hue. I dyed it again and added a little red to the dye bath to counter the green. That ended up working pretty well.

What drive did you end up choosing? I wonder if I could get a better deal than this one.

This one is a bit too light, but you can make a pot of black tea and dunk the vest in there to stain it, and paint the buttons silver with acrylic paint (if you wish). I'd say amazon is a good place to look for a pinstripe vest, and look for accurate form of it rather than the color--you can very easily dye light brown or khaki fabrics with dark brown RIT dye (found universally in craft and even grocery stores!) to match the shade. Then you can dirty it up with acrylic paint and blood and such to give it that bloodborne charm! Keep us updated (:

Not sure if anyone will buy it at those prices but since you are not using it, it might be worth getting some cash for it.

This could be a running series of videos, if you were so inclined, because the premise is hilarious. You could even adopt a lens, like Sun Tzu's The Art of War or Machiavelli's The Prince and sarcastically demonstrate how those techniques can be put to "Great Use" in Bloodborne.

Well, as studies attest, lack of sleep causes permanent brain damage.... but that sounds scarier than it actually is. The brain is constantly losing neurons and gray matter as you age—you have plenty of spare capacity, more than you'll ever use.

The real permanent consequence of a sleep deficit is lost opportunity cost. You won't retain new information very well if you're skimping on sleep, you'll have trouble improving cardiovascular performance or making gains in the weightroom, and you won't have the mental juice to do difficult things. Basically, a month on limited sleep is a wasted month. That's what I've read.

But it's not like you're going to take a permanent hit to your IQ or whatever.

I'd say yes. Though Amazon is selling the vanilla version (digital code) for $20 at the moment, if that's what you're after.

I honestly wish that I had gone with this one because I have never used that volume controller and I don't have studio headphones so I have no need for it.

There's the DLC on Amazon, they give you a code that you can redeem if you go to the US account and go to the PlayStation Store using that account, then find the Redeem option, enter the code (they do not require you to associate your card at this step, I still have no card associated), and you will get that the DLC has been redeemed, now make the US account primary and you can use any other account on the PS4 to play the stuff that your primary account bought

If you're not a fan of the dualshock4, then there are a few third party controllers to consider. This is the one that I've been using for almost 2 years, and it's more than $100 cheaper than the pro controller.

I have one of these in 32gb I back all my saves up to and screenshots/videos. It's so small you can't see it in the front unless you look for it.

Are you more frustrated by the fact that there are multiple endings, or that the endings are unsatisfactory and anticlimactic?

For the former, as others have pointed out, save scumming is an easy way around having to replay multiple times to get each ending. It's nice if you're short on time.

For the latter, well...expecting Souls games to have a powerful ending that ties the story together and gives you a sense of accomplishment will always leave you disappointed. The endings are meaningful and thought provoking, but it's in the same way that the rest of the story is: obscure and relying heavily on interpretation. But now you have the exciting opportunity to reflect on what happened and try to understand its implications, and to read what others have posted here about it. :)

As for using guides...yeah, it's a tough call. If you're okay with needing to replay a game a few times to 100% it, then skip the guide. If not, I recommend trying to find a spoiler-free guide to help you make sure you don't miss much. Personally, what I find most infuriating is the easy-to-miss NPC questlines.

It's a vinyl sticker! This one in particular. Quality is very good for what it only costs, applies and fits very well. They only deliver in the US though, but I had it shipped to a friend of mine and picked it up when we were city tripping in NYC, so I was very lucky to be able to get it that way :)
