It's not a no damage run, you have to be VERY clear about that. It was a no-hit run. He didn't get HIT the entire run (except for seathe's first scripted death, he talks about that during the VoD).
" don't believe the player who says he completed the original Dark Souls without taking a hit -- it would be amazing but I think it's just an elaborate rumour! " - Miyazaki.
VoD Run starts like 25 mins in I think?
Here's the change log on SteamDB. Means nothing to me, but maybe someone with more knowledge can glean something from it.
Whatever it is it looks like it broke the mouse fix and PVP watchdog, which is frustrating.

Not normally possible, is it? The calculator comes up with SL712 but I think that is where it tops out.
From what I understand, invaders get 10% of the souls the Master of the world needs to level when they win.
You gained 2,309,854 souls (10% of 23,098,540)
SL712 to SL713* requires 8,879,350 souls.
Does the Silver Serpent ring/Symbol of Avarice also increase the number of souls won from invading?

The thing about HTML5 gifs are that they are not actually gifs, they are more so a video.
Without getting too much into it the reason they run/load so smooth is because they are not individual images being loaded separately by a plug in, they are run form the browser itself using a codec to play segments of a video.

I already updated the gravelord mod. You can download it here
There are no hotkeys assigned, but they are very easy to to (Right click either of the table entries and then go to 'Assign hotkey')

If you're using Adblock Plus, that's because they started allowing ads to pay them to get through the filter. Anyone can get their ads through Adblock Plus now, if they want to (and have the money).
I highly Recommend uBlock. I've been using it for a couple months now. It uses less resources than Adblock, lets absolutely nothing through (unless whitelisted by you) and has an interface similar to adblock. I haven't found a single downside yet.
Plus it's open source!

yep, the option isn't there anymore, but i still have text that says "Buy this game for a friend" which i thought was kinda funny.
/r/DarkSoulsMods is technically the place for this, but there are more people here, so this is probably fine.
You'll need to learn about how the .msb files are stored, which is to say, as binary data. Someone has helpfully compiled the basic structure of the file here, although I think that some of it isn't quite correct / up to date. The best way to learn is to open up a small .msb (m18_00_00_00 is the smallest, since it is the Kiln) in a hex editor and see if you can follow the basics of how the file is packed. When making the Item Randomizer, I probably spent ~6 hours total just staring at my hex editor, so get used to seeing it.
I have some Python code lying around that I wrote to quickly unpack parts of the .msb file when I needed to figure out how item lots correspond to locations in game. I've uploaded a copy of it here. It won't do anything close to what you want, but by looking at it, you might get a better feel for how I parsed (parts of) these files.
Of course, it's then up to you to take the decrypted data and figure out what needs to be changed / randomized. Keep in mind that some parts of the table are not shown in the MSB Editor, but need to be correctly preserved for the game to still function correctly. For example, the Editor does not show any entries from the EVENT_PARAM_ST table, but this is where the .msb stores all the information about event locations, including item locations, sound emitters, etc. If you delete these, the game will not function correctly.
Then, you need to write code that takes your modified table and writes it out as a valid .msb that the game can read. You'll need to correctly re-compute the offsets, etc. so that the .msb file is not malformed.
And, if you want it packaged up in a GUI, then you'll need to learn about that, I suppose.
Sorry to tell you, but I am familiar with this piece of artwork and it is definitely not anything new, and I think at this point it is safe to say you did not draw it either. This is Yuria the Witch from Demon's Souls and was created by a Japanese artist on pixiv almost 2 years ago. Nice try, buddy.
Artorias in blue in very poor indoor lighting, I should add. I really need to find a way to fix that, huh?
Anyway, the listing is here if anyone is interested. Interesting fact? You guys here in /r/darksouls account for well over half of all of my sales. Thanks!
I was working on a Solaire design, but Benji came back with 400 hoodies to sell of the design everyone originally wanted so I stopped work on that one. It was particularly time-consuming and difficult, so I moved on to some other designs for now. I will eventually come back to it, don't worry.
Three ideas I had in mind for my next design, if anyone wants to offer feedback:
"Home is where the /\ is" where the /\ is a bonfire stencil. All text in the Dark Souls. Text would be in two lines (Home is Where)(the /\ is).
A shirt with Tarkus that has the text, "Tarkus is my co-pilot." Alternatively, Tarkus with no text.
Ornstein, because Ornstein is badass.
Thoughts?
Again, thanks for all of the support, /r/darksouls. You folks are pretty amazing.
Edit: I should add that there are several other colors, too. The full list is black, brown, royal blue, navy blue, purple, red, cardinal maroon, and forest green. I'm working on assembling a palette image that shows all of the colors with what they all look like bleached.

Nope it's not. Like, seriously, it is not. Don't just jump to conclusions. There hasn't been an update to the depot, that also means the binary is still the same, which in turn means it's still asking for worldwide lobbies.
That's what I've been thinking. They haven't updated the Depot for 4 days (Source: https://steamdb.info/app/211420/history/), and the size has been cut back down to normal... so I'm assuming they've finalized whatever changes they wanted to make.
I'd estimate either tomorrow, as you've said, or on the weekend (Perhaps as a weekend sale + Free weekend?).
Bear in mind that when you upgraded your Iaito +10, it became a Lightning Iaito +0. You can upgrade Lightning weapons up to +5, at which point it will do a lot more damage.
This is exactly why str/dex scaling is broken, because even at 99 dex The Iaito +15 will only do 407 dmg, a lot less than a fire or lightning weapon, and those require 0 stats.
After posting that, I remembered that Lordran and Beyond has stayed up for some time now, so hopefully you'll be safe. I wish you the best of fortunes - legally, financially, and artistically. I only wish my own financial situation was stable enough to pitch in.
With 2.0 yesterday I introduced an issue with the HUD modifications. I fixed it now. That’s all that has changed.
People are also reporting some stability problems and physics issues since the patch, but I’m not sure those are related to DSfix. On the bright side, it seems like in addition to fixing the stereo downmix, the patch also somewhat reduced the CPU load of the game.
Namco has already shown themselves to be a bit tone-deaf on the franchise. Do you recall them "teasing" a Souls-related announcement only to reveal merchandise branded with souls-memes?
Here are his credited games:
(Source)
This is actually pretty likely.
Ever since work started on the transition on Steam two months ago, a new "bundle" was added to Steam for Dark Souls.
It is possible that Bamco are releasing a "graphically enhanced" version of the game alongside the no-GFWL patch in order to boost sales when it comes out-- since everyone owns the original game, and is going to bundle them together at a discount.
They just employed this marketing strategy with Dark Souls 2 and Sin of the First Scholar (making people pay for a new version of the game that includes dynamic lightning and DX11), and probably realized that employing it towards fans of the first game is more profitable.
I did a little sleuthing for a bigger version and found what looks like the source. Seems its' original size is 750×563, your post is the biggest I've seen.
optimized gfy(html5 video) version of the gif
The souls you're carrying don't matter for invaders, sorry. Only your Soul Level influences how many souls an invader gets. At SL60, if you were to jump off the invader would only get about 2100 souls. See here, and plug 2100 into the highlighted field.
If you have 25 str, 25 dex, 40 int, 40 faith, it is barely more powerful than a lightning claymore, but with a worse moveset and 10.0 weight vs. 6.0 for the claymore or flamberge (other greatswords). You can see for yourself exactly what the damage will be with given stats here.
I don't think that's an "official" collector's edition. It might just be a deal that you can order through that specific website. You can buy the statue and keychain individually on Amazon.
See for yourself.
Hey, guys, I thought this would be really useful so I made a publicly editable spreadsheet that you can all use to make a list of Dark Souls/Demon's Souls jargon for player's who are curious.
I'll sort through all the things you folks put once it's done and then post the finished list for you all next week.
Thanks man, I'll probably make a trailer similar to this but made for dark souls and not dead space, and I'll post it here. Almost certainly the +15 Uchi w/DMB. Let's look at it: the +5 Lightning Uchi will do 498 damage, and doesn't scale. Assuming you also have 40 Str, at 40 Dex the unbuffed +15 Normal Uchi will do 420 damage, which puts them pretty close together. Without knowing your class or Faith (or Int if using Velka's Talisman) we can't know how much of a buff the DMB miracle will give you, but unless you've put no points into either of those stats the miracle will almost certainly give you more than the 78 point difference between the elemental and normal weapons, especially if you're a few levels into the DMB covenant. Of course damage done will also be mitigated by the enemy's armor/buffs/resistances, but that varies by situation and we can't account for it here.
If you didn't get very far in PTDE, it's worth it. You can get the upgrade for less than $20 at IndieGala: https://www.indiegala.com/store/product/211420_remastered
If you are very far into the game I wouldn't bother restarting but if you're interested in doing more playthroughs it could be worth it.
So what you’re gonna want to do is look up the defense values of different armor sets and compare them to the attack ratings of different weapons at different levels. The defense vs. AR function for DS1 can be read here: http://codepad.org/FqnBrhc3
You can look up the defenses for every enemy and boss and armor set on wikidot. Keep in mind that every level adds something to your defenses irrespective of your particular stat or armor. Play around on soulsplanner, as it can give you both defense and attack ratings. Then just plug those into the function above (for split damage weapons you calculate phys. AR against phys. Defense & elemental AR vs elemental defense independently, then sum the two values together to see about how much damage you’ll do with a single swing).
You know, I wondered about this too... At first I thought the same thing; I knew that Ash lake was the bottom of the world, so to speak, but it seems as if the world is staggered a little bit more than I originally thought... I read this message board on gamefaqs and found out my perspectives on how the places were laid out was a little wrong... Read this and maybe it'll give you some idea... Any additional insight is definitely welcome; the lore and backstory in this game fascinates me.
I did O&S for many hours. With both of them up 1 R2 attack from my club would take S down a full 1/4. With help it was much less. I'm just going crazy then? There are also many references to this: http://www.preparetodie.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=5130
http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/606312-/61594310
So I guess try it yourself and see.
Hmm, what is your DEX stat? All the numbers show that +5 lightning and fire weapons have wayyy more damage than +15 normal weapons even with a stat of 50 or so with just about every possible weapon.
For example, my +5 fire murakumo does 632 damage. The +15 normal murakumo only does 512 damage if your strength and dex stats are both 50.
The theory that elemental weapons do less damage because they are double-filtered by armor is not proven, and doesn't quite make sense to me. A given elemental weapon does, say, 50% damage normal, and 50% elemental damage. Each of those values would be filtered by armor separately, but that wouldn't change the ultimate percentage of damage reduction compared with a single source of damage.
https://sites.google.com/site/darksoulstats/dark-souls-calculators/normal
Try the CanIrunit website. It's a helpful tool that's helped me figure out this stuff.
You might be able to run DS1, but I doubt it'll run DS2 or DS3 (particularly because the graphics card). I know I can't run DS3 myself.
It's difficult to calculate exact damage values because there are quite a few weapon specific variables that are harder to take into account.
Weapons all have a unique modifier based on their AR when calculating damage, which is why often times you'll see something like a Black Knight Greataxe with a higher AR than a Claymore do less damage per R1 swing (even though the Claymore has lower AR, and both are straight physical damage).
What you can do however is calculate an approximation within a specific weapon for different upgrade paths, to see the damage different in relation to those upgrade paths.
To summarize and clarify, it's difficult to calculate the damage difference between an Uchigatana R1 swing vs a Balder Side Sword R1 swing, but it's much easier to calculate the difference in damage between a +15 Uchigatana and a +5 Lightning Uchigatana.
You can use Mud-Chan's MiniCalcs at the bottom of the page to get an idea of how the different upgrade paths will do based on your current AR and your opponents current Defense.
Please be aware that Mud-Chan's calculator isn't exact, as I've said before it's difficult to find the exact values simply because internal weapon modifiers are still unknown (as far as I'm aware). However, it will give you more than a good enough idea of the relation between AR and damage dealt, and at what breakpoints it becomes more beneficial to use a specific weapon upgrade path over another.
It also depends if they are the host or invader/summon. A host will give 10% of the souls required to level up whereas an invader (and I think summon) will give 50%.
Here's a handy calculator: https://sites.google.com/site/darksoulstats/dark-souls-calculators/mini-calcs
What are you 14? $33 for a good quality hoodie (or even a shitty one that just has a neat design) is obscenely good value. It's not like this $100 monstrosity.
I love Hobbit's stream. The guy is a true inspiration for perseverance alone. I saw him do the Any% run and have been watching him attempt the 100% all boss run since. The guy streams every single day and is constantly trying to improve the run. Honestly if it wasn't for Artorias / OnS, he would have done it by now.
I was requested by someone in a PM to post my DSMfix files, in hopes it works for all of you guys, here you go!

EDIT: Here's my Dsfix.ini, incase it works with both together: https://www.mediafire.com/?9ow2kul4w50x9n9
It unlocks the ability to "Modify" weapons to that specific ember type. Basically if you get a weapon to +5 you can then choose to modify it and depending what ember types you've given to him you'll have different options. See this chart: http://postimage.org/image/21hfz31pg/
Thanks for pulling/translating so much useful data from the big Engrish spreadsheet, Javong_C! I'm surprised that the modifiers are so uniform as some old tests (like this GameFAQs thread) show a lot more variety between different weapons' modifiers.
Also, question: what counts as a "multiple hit animation"? Could you provide an example?
And so it is - but that doesn't prevent Fromsoft from subcontracting work to another development studio. It's like how Eidos Montreal outsourced boss fight design in Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
It's unlikely that official releases would mention this sort of subcontracting arrangement. It would take the spotlight off BandaiNamco and Fromsoft, which they don't want. I see no reason to doubt these sorts of specifically-reported details just because the publisher and official developer didn't go out of their way to introduce a subcontractor.
For this off topic thread, I want to propose something really on topic. I keep seeing posts about people asking about fun builds to try, and I share their desire. Can we get some kind of list compilation for the sidebar, or some kind of "build of the week / month" thing going? I think this could be really fun.
But if we're on the topic of off topic, I'm building a sort of Milan Cathedral (of Anor Londo fame) in Minecraft :D https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=462c7a40dfb894c3&id=462c7a40dfb894c3%21121&ithint=folder,&authkey=!AMyi6GrmPQm4EAc
I wouldn't worry about Vitality too much to be honest. You have access to healing spells seeing as you use faith.
16 strength shouldn't really matter, unless you really want to use Silver Knight weapons one handed. Unless there is some DLC weapon idk about, 14 strength is a good cutoff.
If you go to 39 faith, you get a 188 Magical Adjust with the canvas talisman. A +3 darkmoon blade buff will add ~395 damage. Compare to level 30, which 172 magical adjust with the canvas talisman will add ~361 damage. Other spells like wrath of the gods will also benefit from this.
(I will assume that you are 2 handing the weapons. Damage will be the two handed value) Adding 9 points in dexterity will make the Uchigatana go from 368 to 414, the Great Scythe go from 416 to 477, and the Balder Side Sword go from 333 to 381. Look up more weapons here.
Personally, I would go with the dexterity. It increases casting speed for some spells, and the 9 points in faith add less damage that the 9 dexterity would. Depending on what weapon you're using, you might consider adding some points to endurance. I use the great scythe, and in order to hit the dead zone, you need to use a lot of stamina. If you're using the Uchigatana or Balder Side Sword, I wouldn't worry about it as much.
>The Newsweek research.
Several people criticized Newsweek's methodology and interpretation choices. Here are two:

In regards of "I've never seen ethics in game journalism" - the reason why GamerGate rose so prominently was because:
1. People have been frustrated with the journo websites' blatant controversy-based methods, when they're not serving as AAA's third PR arm, for years.
2. People who switched over to YouTube LPs and Twitch had started to look at these websites again and were rather surprised to find that the hobby they love is apparently worthless and MUST BECOME A POLITICALLY CORRECT ARTFORM OR ELSE YOU'RE "The problem".
1) 40 dex 27 str is a basic and optimized str/dex build. A plus 15 regular weapon is best for this. 27 str is ideal because 2 handed damage stops increasing around that level. (it increases a bit but not worth the points). Technically +5 crystal weapons will do more damage but their low durability and the inability to repair them precludes their serious consideration. Elemental weapons will do less damage and waste all your stat points above the minimum needed to wield the weapon as they do not stat scale
2) If you use lighter armor you cannot take hits without being stunned and open to another hit. I recommend having some poise. Here is a great reference of optimized armor combinations.
http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/606312-dark-souls/63919796
However I often go with style over optimization.
3)If you want to use crystal magic weapon you need the INT stats. It adds a massive buff. If you go this route then I recommend 40 points into dex as well. Why? Because the damage the buff does is fixed based on your catalyst and INT points. NOT on the damage of your weapon. So...the fast swing of the dex weapon allows you to add the buff damage more often. Thus maximizing its effect.
4) My current favorite weapons for PVP are the composite bow and the Halberd +15. Ultra great swords rely on your opponent making a mistake and you punishing it. Or you getting a OHKO with a backstab OR just simply backstab fishing, which nobody really likes. I like the big swords but for me they are less effective in PVP. Hope that helps.
Final note if you go str/dex then forget the Crystal magic weapon. If you go dex/int then go for it.
Found it!
The file is called "soulfire". Here you have it.
If you are looking for more sounds, check my post or make me know!
Wait for the Steamworks patch coming in November.
The reason why nobody "plays" online is because GFWL uses Peer 2 Peer exclusively. Peer 2 Peer has to search for other players constantly generating an IP pool-- this isn't a problem on PS3 and Xbox 360 because the being connected to PSN/XBL usually streamlines the process to connecting to other players because their information required to connect can be easily fetched from the PSN/XBL servers.
When the Steamworks patch hits Dark Souls: PtDE, the game will most likely recieve a dedicated server like Dark Souls 2-- this means that summoning other players and being invaded/invading should be almost instant, just like Dark Souls 2.
Also, there's a strong chance that the patch is bringing much more to the game, as the total size of the game files were increased by 3.59 GB. My bets are on an official implementation of Durante's graphics settings, and maybe some extra content in the game.
Two days ago this package was added to steamdb with Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition as the only content inside.. I have a feeling that some sort of promotion is going to happen where people who own Dark Souls are going to get a free gift to give to friends when the update rolls around. Odd that JP isn't allowed to receive or use them though.
Disconnect your PS4 controller. Download and install DS4Windows. Run the program as an administrator.
Tick the "Hide Controller" box in the settings and then restart the program as an admin. With the controller tab on the top left of the program window selected, you should now see an option to connect the controller exclusively. Click that, then CMD pops up. Plug in your controller and it should return you to your desktop.
If there's red text at the bottom of DS4Windows then it didn't work. Unplug your controller/restart the program and try again. Eventually the red text will go away and your controller will function properly.
Sorry, I got the wrong developers in the last reply.
We are still talking about a developer (q-loc) which did some good stuff so I just give them the benefit of doubt.
Do you think it would be possible to find the person who designed that on pixiv and maybe kick them a free hoodie out of the deal? I bet they'd be thrilled about it. Or maybe pissed off.. I don't know how to gauge these things. Regardless they're most likely in Japan.
EDIT: Here's a link to the original artist's page with the design on Pixiv. I don't know Japanese though, so no idea how to contact them or anything.
Yeah. They ran out of time and had to cut some stuff. His dialogue is still on the disc though.
I did a quick search and could only find Shiva's extra missions/dialogue, but you should be able to dig up Oscar's in a few minutes of poking around: http://www.preparetodie.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=20981
Since I'm not at home I don't have my the full description for this but this is something I threw together and has been pretty popular;
It's a compilation of fixes and textures including lowest common denominator, HUD icons, DSFix etc etc. It's a huge pack with no lore breaking material and plenty of nice little extras as well. Better than downloading 100 separate mods. Plenty of readme's to help you as well but most of it is virtually copy paste.
Hmmm. Not media but I love this story posted by DocDelicious on the gamfaqs board in response to a thread asking why talisman's all look like folded napkins:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/608635-dark-souls/63795303/713779357
"This one time I was eating dinner at Macaroni Grill with my fiancé when I had somewhat of an epiphany; I crumpled up my napkin, held it in my hand and ran around screaming "Sunlight Spear!!" at the other patrons. After defeating a few of the closest Dark Spirits I grabbed one of their giant steak/butter knife things, ran my napkin across it while saying "Darkmoon Blade!" and proceeded to attack one of the waiters whilst making lightsaber noises. Seconds later the manager came out of the kitchen and was clearly intent on asking me to leave, so I waited until he got close, folded my hands in prayer and yelled "Wrath of the Gods!" as I pushed him into a nearby table. For the following 20 minutes or so, I continued my rampage; doing backflips through the restaurant, stabbing people in the back with my lightsaber, throwing Lightning Spears, Force pushing any who got too close, so on and so forth. Then when the glorious battle began to wind down, much to my dismay, the police arrived and kindly "escorted" me outside and informed me that I was going to be placed under arrest. That's when I realized I was still clutching my napkin! So, I got down on one knee, whisperer "Homeward" and found myself back in my living room sitting in front of my fireplace.
The end."
By the way, I've also got a poll going on gamefaqs on what day we should make Fightclub day, be sure to vote! I will leave the poll open untill Saturday when I wake up.

Oh right, I forgot that basically nobody knows this is happening.
It’s a four part comic series. I think the community has largely ignored it because the same company made other Dark Souls comics in the past and they sucked.
You can buy it here. It will probably show up online for free at some point though.

It might be possible if you do a shit load of high level PvP, however I believe the max level is 713. The strategy guide has a fair amount of information that was incorrect before even the first patch.
The max level varies slightly depending on your starting class. It's 711 for some, and I think the Sorcerer can reach a max of 713.
The number of souls an enemy player drops is dependent on their level. As an invader, killing a level 712 player gives you over 1,000,000 souls.
https://sites.google.com/site/darksoulstats/dark-souls-calculators/mini-calcs
edit: Ouch, it will cost you 1,692,567,156 souls from level 1 to 713 overall. So unless you win over 1,600 matches in PvP against a highest level character... yeah, almost impossible to do legit.
You can't in-game unless you message them and ask. You can also go here and enter the amount of souls you received when you kill them to find out what level they were. If you die to them, though, there's no way to deduce their level short of messaging them.
>But in practice, I've found that (at least on my personal version of the game) holding down two directional keys and trying to dodge will only work about a 1 in 5 button presses. There is no excuse for this other than the terrible PC port, and if your version of Dark Souls doesn't do this then I envy you.
... that's your keyboard ghosting inputs. that is completely unrelated to dark souls, and has never happened to me in any of the three games.
get nohboard, have it visible when playing the game, and see what keys light up when you try to roll diagonally. I bet you the spacebar won't light up, because you're holding down three keys already and it's being ghosted.
the solution is to just get a keyboard that supports more simultaneous inputs.
>but the skill ceiling of the player will be crippled by the binary nature of keyboard movement and the lack of mouse optimization.
literally never been an issue for me. 8 directions is enough, and in DS1 and DS3 everyone's limited to compass direction rolling when locked on, so that's not an issue either. DS3 just adds the diagonals.
a five button mouse (and apparently a keyboard that supports more than 3 inputs at once) makes kb+m play just as good as controller play. I've put about 750 hours into the series with pure kb+m and it's fine.
This should be a pretty helpful resource regarding poise in general. I can't definitively speak to weapon buffs affecting poise damage, but I don't think buffing your weapon affects how much poise damage it deals. But I'm not sure about that.
Try This site for checking computer specs on many modern games, including Dark Souls.
It's a shame you had to sell your Xbox, as the console version is probably the more satisfying one to play (fewer cheaters, easier connections, more active player base), but the game is still great on PC- and you can make it look all the more beautiful with some tweaking, so it's not without some perks as well.

Here is my DS fix. I didn't have issues with that area, before when I was on an FX 4100 (or 4300, I forget) and a 5770, and now on an i5 and GTX 570.
Try it and see your results. You probably have one setting absurdly high? Are you forcing AA through your graphic card?
A +15 Uchi with your stats will do 422 pure physical damage, that means it only has to go through the one resistance stat. A +5 Lightning Uchi will do 498 damage, that's 247 physical 251 lightning, and both of those have to go through each resistance. Add on the fact that you can throw on an enchantment or a resin onto your +15 and you're doing a hell of a lot more damage with an A scaling weapon than a lightning.
Edit: Just saw your original post's edit, enjoy:
https://sites.google.com/site/darksoulstats/dark-souls-calculators/normal
The game doesn't let you know explicitly but you can calculate the invader's SL using this calculator. The principle behind the calculator is that the number of souls a player receives is equal to half the number of souls that the defeated player needs to level up.
The calculation to get damage from the attack rating and defense rating is not straightforward, but there is a damage calculator here that you can play with. I don't know how accurate it is, but it's the only resource I've ever seen which addresses this question.
The problem still remains that, mathematically, lightning weapon X +5 will always be stronger than normal weapon X +15; Even with stat scaling. The only advantage to the normal weapon forging would be the ability to enchant it with magic/pine resin.
I've been using Mud-Chan's Dark Souls calculator: https://sites.google.com/site/darksoulstats/dark-souls-calculators and I've checked the lightning zwei +5 vs zwei +15 with 99 Str and Dex and Two-Handed; lightning zwei is STILL stronger by 50+ points.
Using the aforementioned calculator, let's check Divine/Occult/Magic/Enchanted weapons against Lightning, with zweihander as an example:
(All of which are being two-handed with 99 in all scaling stats)
Divine Zweihander +10: 767
Occult Zweihander +5: 770
Magic Zweihander +10: 775
Enchanted Zweihander +5: 785
Lightning Zweihander +5: 721
So, by maxing out your stats AND two-handing, you CAN outscale the damage. However, the question then becomes, which is more efficient? Capping 2-3 stats or forging lightning +5 for a trade-off of about 50 points of damage?
TL,DR: Lightning weapons are mathematically OP.
Ds 1 is a tricky maiden for controller support. You may need to soath her with a little software known as ds4 http://ds4windows.com when you use this program and the controller still isn't showing up on the program or for games go to your device manager in control panel and right click "Hid-compliant game controller. Slap it with a wee enable device and it should work super. This program helps a ton with other dark souls games. Another thing I should point out is on the DS4 program itself go to the settings tab and tick hide DS4 controller. This will prevent your computer messing with the camera stick in game ^_^
You'll probably have to download a program like DS4 (which you can get here) and remap the buttons yourself. I assume it is something conflicting between Sony's software and Microsoft's.
Download and use this tool. Make sure you have the "Hide DS4 Controller" option ticked.
Just open the tool before connecting your DS4. You might also have to unplug and replug your controller a second time for it to work properly.
Dude keep trying, you can't miss this game.. yes it is that amazing...
The PC port is a piece of shit. At the beginning area it seems to work particularly bad for me but sometimes it gets better if you push a bit through the game. Sometimes the game runs like crap and is almost unplayable, but other times it has run smoothly enough for me to be able to enjoy it.
Use DSFix and also try adjusting the settings of your graphics card. A certain configuration worked for me somehow although I had to try for a while. But once it is fixed it should stay fixed.
Go through this stuff and keep on trying... even if you spend 3 or 4 hours... it's worth it: https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Dark_Souls:_Prepare_to_Die_Edition#Performances_issues
What I am trying to say is that I'm sure that you can make it work.
This game is very worth the effort. It is basically one of the best games ever created.
Hope you manage to make it run and enjoy it
Also, perhaps you could use a xbox controller since it has better compatibility with pc. I remember in my first time trying to play I had controller issues (I was using a replica of a PS controller, I didn't manage to make it work) and then I switched to a xbox controller and the controls were perfect.
Even if you have to buy an xbox controller, IT IS WORTH IT. BUY IT
/u/therearesomewhocallm is correct. I am currently using x360ce to play DaS:PtDE just fine on my pc :) Heres the simple list of steps for the lazy:
NOTE: If you get an error and cant load 'XINPUT1_3.dll' make sure you install both the x86 and x64 vcredist's (helps some people, not others)
If I were you, I would look for a second-hand laptop containing an Intel Core i5 or Core i7 processor and an Nvidia GTX 850m or 860m (preferably the GTX 950m or 960m but as they're newer chances are they'll cost more.) I'm located in the US so many of those sites are unfamiliar to me, however, I did look over Gumtree real quick and found one listing for under 400 that looked pretty good. I'm not sure if that's within reach of where you live or whatever, but I figured it would be worth posting.
Here's a link: https://www.gumtree.com/p/laptops/asus-i7-4710hq-8gb-1tb-15.6-inch-touchscreen-gaming-laptop-gtx-850m-gfx-computer-windows/1263165644
My apologies if my link is against the rules of this subreddit. Just let me know if it is, and I'll PM it instead!
Edit: Typo. lol
This is the best site to get good deals.
You also can make an account, place a game on your wishlist and you get a email notification as soon as the game drops below a chosen value.
Here the current deals for dark souls

There already is a Dark Souls Fight Club.

I already joined these guys and can say that this is active and the duels are always different and fun.
How to get the themes once in the japanese psn store (Thanks to gamefaqs user FFIXMaster)
Here's a quick guide for how to get there without using the What's New shortcut: * Go to the PlayStation Store, it's the same with a Japanese account as with a North American one: XMB > PlayStation Network > PlayStation Store.
Choose the option that starts with "PS3" before a bunch of moonrunes, it's the fourth one up from the bottom, above the one that starts with "PSP".
From this point on I am assuming you're going to hit Square until you get the list menu display option instead of one of the grids.
Now you want the third option down from the top, its icon has the "themes" logo on it so it's hard to miss.
From there, as of time of this writing, you want the second option down, the icon for it is a dark grey square that says PS3 on the side and inside that is a black square that says "DARK SOULS" above some moonrunes.
Now you're at the list of the themes; just hit X on one you want and hit X on the orange button (it should be the one your cursor defaults to, if you can't see colours it's the second option down) and hit X, this will bring up your cart, just hit X on the theme in your cart and it will start the download and then install it automatically. Congratulations! You have one of the new Dark Souls themes downloaded and installed on your PS3, now just repeat the last step for as many of the themes as you want.
They can also be found on the 'what's new' section.
Googled a bit, all I found was this (Google translate)...
Since I can't translate the picture and barely understand the site, I have no idea what's going on, or what pixiv is. Some kind of Wiki? Tags on the picture seems to suggest people there are looking for the source too. Perhaps this is a mockup uploaded directly to that site, not actually existing? That would be a little weird though.
it (and most of the others) comes from pixiv.net, here is that one specifically - you might need to register for this link to work.

I had said something about a month ago about your tool and will say it again: > I already see in the games "update news" in steam page saying
>>Dark Souls player and redditor eur0pa releases tool that locally bans hackers
I am very interested in this, so I can ditch manually adding IPs on peerblock.
I PvP 2-3 hours daily.
I've seen the tool in action by a streamer hosting a fightclub, Querns. It is awesome.
Waited a long time (shipping from the US to Europe sucks, especially over christmas), but they are really gorgeous. (Unfortunately the shop around the corner only had two frames left, but I will get two others soon.)
If you crave some Dark Souls art for your walls, I can't recommend them enough.
Apparently it's based on the Xenomorphs from the Alien movies. There's a source for this somewhere...

I read about it here.
> Player1 used eye of death, Player2 saw the gravelord sign almost immediately... The sign updates position pretty quick, every 10 seconds or so.
> I was surprised by the frequency that the sign updated as well. I had my gf follow me all around the level, and through the darkroot garden. The sign kept refreshing, was pretty neat to see it keep popping up right before she reached where it was.
If you want people to find your Gravelord sign, that means you should probably stand still and wait somewhere with a lot of traffic. :)
Yeah, there was a lot of dialog which was cut from the game, but still remained in text files on the disc. Shiva was supposed to be a pretty bad guy.

Not so much in the graphics department. But nothing has made me rage as hard as this. You think beating a boss is a good feeling in DaS? Just wait until you kill the 4 hell lords in this game, nothing compares. (Not for casuls)
Wine is not going to cut it, he'll be running at 5 fps even if it manages to run.
Also, it really IS that simple: https://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
I've done development before, and sometimes you need triple or quadruple boots to test on a variety on systems.
