I've wasted too much time in this shit-hole - too many pointless arguments, creating/being a part of drama, etc. Lifting was taking over my life to the point where it was - eat, sleep, work, lift, reddit (about lifting).
A couple of things I want to say to the general Reddit population,
I'll be on chat, Fitocracy (for now), and Facebook and am more than willing to help with lifting questions or whatever. If you can't reach me there then die.
Asked a girl on a date, but got turned down.
However, Accodring to our resident anthropologist, all is not lost. Also I got an 82 on a midterm and a 94 on my paper about crabs.
I know this is the fail thread, but I had a pretty good week for the first time in a long time.
I don't think it's on the dollar menu any more but Taco Bell's Beefy 5-Layer Burrito was 540 cal for $1.
Burger King's Spicy Chicken Crisp seems to have been winning when I put that together.
Edit: Near me the Beefy 5-Layer Burrito is $1.19, coming in at ~450 kcal/$ and is fucking delicious: I'd probably take it over the Chicken Crisp for the taste.
something shortkid something
somewhere between a win and a fail, I had a fitting for fancy clothes, and thy fit perfectly enough that I can't cut more than 2lbs in the next three months or I risk a large and annoy alterations bill. But I also can't gain any inches in my chest, either, which, when you look at my lifts, was never a risk.
I also bought this hat to run in, because sunscreen always gets in my eyes, and apparently I want to die of heat stroke while getting hit by a truck since I no longer have peripheral vision. Cardio kills, folks.
I have a crush for Scotty's ability to clearly not give even half a fuck, as evidenced by that post.
Dude...
My burning question is to yougotposted; why u mad?
>Helmut Strebl doesn't want to look like you either
HAR!! That's the funniest thing I will probably read all day, thank you.
[4realz], it's exactly like the forum thread S_knight linked to earlier. "Oh she's really strong! Amazing lifts! But I wouldn't want to look like that!" Bullshit, if they put in the work to get those lifts, they absolutely would want to look like her...or better. So many excuses to not work hard. It just boggles my mind.
Lol Bikram, the most bullshit of yogas. I think it's the whole heat makes it feel more difficult therefore it must be better and sweating out all that water weight makes you look slimmer. Plus the founder is the worst in terms of personality cult.
At least it gave us this
I stole this from this Fitocracy post (cross posting is a time honored karma whoring technique):

> This guy left me this message in my youtube inbox because I commented "Auschwitz-mode achieved".
> "hey dipshit Fat fuck that thinks he's a bad ass- mode achieved. I have news for you.....no matter how much you bench, or curl, or squat to try and improve your body,,,you're still not going to be able to change your ugly fucking face. Have fun being a virgin the rest of your life, bitch. Oh, and thanks for viewing and commenting on my vid"
Whatever we do, it should definitely not be to download this chrome extension and set the filter for www.reddit.com to be blocked, because that would make brigading untraceable, and that's wrong.
Touche. For real though she's involved with some local CrossFits that I've had some run-ins with here and there. I knew about her a few years ago and thought she was pretty cute. Her current internet fame is strange and amusing though.
Commenters telling it like it is:
>She's an accomplished athlete, can bench press more than most people of either sex, but everyone is falling all over themselves to talk about how cute she is?
Yeah, the NBA isn't exactly full of super strong people. They made a big deal out of Steph Curry deadlifting 400 lbs
Edit: he beats a lot of guys on his team who are 50-60 lbs heavier than him too.
Edit: I forgot to add that I also have a crush on mkhockeygeek's ass...I'm not sure about the rest of him, but I don't think I'll ever get bored of seeing this pic
>And because of this, American's have a massive cultural obesity epidemic, not a cocaine problem.
Bitch, if I could get 40lb of cocaine for $67 I'd have a fucking coke problem.
...because his absence would be such a tragedy.
I think I've made it perfectly clear that I would sleep with ANY of the men here. I hate to name favorites because on any given day they can change, but as of right now, my favorite eye candy is probably Gabe. I'm always entertained by Nerdlinger's comments (I love you for your mind). My girl crush is smoftiebear cuz...damn girl!
I have no questions at this time.
People should be required to pass a reading comprehension test before being allowed to write shit on the Internet.
OP's summary: > I was reading this http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Are_peanuts_healthy and they basically stated that the 500 calories of peanuts added to their diet for 8 weeks changed nothing.
From the link: > The first trial entailed having participants reduce dietary fat intake by 500 calories and replace them with 500 calories of peanuts, so total calories did not change.
That's nothing.
This is my pride and joy. I track a lot of stuff. It's fun.
Edit: My favorite sheets are PRs, Monthly Averages, BodyFat, Weight Chart, Rep Maxes, Fun with Numbers
Here is the purchase page for the actual study.
> To test whether obesity and metabolic diseases result from HFD or disruption of metabolic cycles, we subjected mice to either ad lib or time-restricted feeding (tRF) of a HFD [high fat diet] for 8 hr per day. Mice under tRF consume equivalent calories from HFD as those with ad lib access yet are protected against obesity, hyperinsulinemia, hepatic steatosis, and inflammation and have improved motor coordination.
Not controlled for: activity of the mice.
I'd like to read it to see what they actually actually found, because in my experience abstracts are ... well almost always overselling horseshit.
Paper: we studied this small molehill. Method: we kicked it. Conclusion: yep, it's a molehill.

Hey there :) I'm a newfag...Started lifting/working out about three months ago. I'm female, 21, 5'4", 177 lbs, 41"-28.5"-42.5". Fitocracy here, Fitness blog here (Progress, thick, tight, etc). I am a mechanical engineering student at U of T & work at a gourmet burger place on the weekends (no one cares). I have good taste in bums. <3
You missed this part:

This is precisely what numpy/scipy do - offload the computationally heavy stuff to C.
See here for more information about scientific level python than you'd ever care to know
How Much Weight Should I Lift Being Six Feet?
>At six feet tall, if you weigh 165 pounds, 150 to 180 pounds is a reasonable weight to lift. Height plays minimal role in the amount of weight you should lift.
Edit: TL;DR: this girl logged barbell box squats on fitocracy, bragged about her PR on facebook, and is actually squatting in the Smith machine.
Did you see the recent travesty of "video proof" from the dude logging multiple 40-rep sets of parallel-grip pullups?
EDIT: this guy posted this rebuttal to 'all the haters" - you're going to love his moves.
I enjoy being unknown and stealing upvotes.
I'm like that kid in the corner who got the extra capri-sun and oreos because the teacher felt bad for me.
EDIT: Since everyone's doing it. and I suppose my secret crush is that fag GZCL, since I'm always texting him dick pics. IDK why he never responds though.
DYEJ?
Edit:
[4realz] The site is all about the points, that's the purpose. MMORPGs take actions to prevent gaming the system and that's what this about.
Granted, he doesn't think he is gaming it, it's clear he is just ignorant and/or an idiot, but to think he one is one of the top athletes of the last month is silly and that's what the site is about.
Edit 2:
Tell me these are equivalent workouts (only 7 pts difference):
I'm sure atticus_lock is a cool dude that doesn't afraid of anything, and I'd love to see what he's do for the quests, but I'm not sure he'd be the best choice.
A pint of whole milk with a shot of heavy cream. Do this 8 times a day and you've got 3200 calories, baby.
I don't know man, I played football at a pretty high level and I've never seen a strength and conditioning program where anyone suggested anything even in the same zip code as running 40 miles a week.
Try here
or
To see what they actually suggest.
To quote Alex Viada, who seems to be kind of a strength and conditioning coach du jour, “no junk miles”- every workout needs to have a purpose.
There's a lot of junk miles if you randomly decide to run 40 miles a week to become a better football player.

maybe it's because she's got neither speed nor distance
I like the points as a bit of added fun, so I don't care too much. I do wonder at how they decide the points when I see people on stationary bikes getting >4000 points while poor McMasochist has his cross-country skiing capped at 700 points.
My crushes are no secret: Sareon already knows how much I suck his dick, Hermy and Spazzy are my boys <3, and Ragehole makes my heart soar.

EDIT: Oh, and anriar and abes are my on the DL lovers.
DbC, 19, male, Australian (and overly patriotic on the internet), 6'4", 230lbs, still fatter than I'd like and my lifts are shit (mostly due to a back injury that I harp on and on about).
My Fitocracy account. Suck it down fagz.
I'd also like to point out (for some reason) that I've been here for ages.
It looks like you're more correct, but I'm not sure I'm incorrect.
Renegaded is an intransitive verb, and means 'To become a deserter or an outlaw'.
Either I've been reading it wrong my entire life, or other people have said it like that before, and renegade is a much better word than renege anyway.
OK, dozens was an exageration.
Here I am! NB: I suspect the Tanita scale under-estimates my body fat percentage, but does so fairly consistently.

yea but he trains his male clients the same way. None train for strength; not even the skinny 120 lb ones... they all do some weird circuit style shit. It's not "in" for the Hollywood guys to lift "heavy".. they all like doing the weird functional TRX, standing on one legged circuit thing.
His guy client (music producer) cant even do a pull uppp. and squats with 10 lb dumbells.. https://instagram.com/p/vrDHcwtSt6/?modal=true
Look at this skinny guy doing isoliations.. looks like he weighs 115 lb tops! This guy needs GOMAD and SS. I guarantee you I would outlif this guy https://instagram.com/p/r4XvnFNSiY/?modal=true Poor guy need a burger or a gallon of milk. Im more thick solid tight than he is
50s were better, you could use electrical stimulation and porn to make a gay man straight!
Also, the author's name is Moan, which makes it infinitely funnier.
At 150mg/protein per ejaculation, or 1.5g per 10 ejaculations, you'd have to perform at least 1,000 acts of fellatio per day to obtain adequate protein for gainz.
While I have no doubt that some of our colleagues here, despite their comments to the contrary, would love to try this experiment, it does not seem to be a good method for obtaining protein.
>Typically, semen contains rather high nutritional content. In one typical ejaculation (approximately one teaspoon), semen contains 150 mg of protein, 11 mg of carbohydrates, 6 mg fat, 3 mg cholesterol, 7% US RDA potassium and 3% US RDA copper and zinc.

Well that's good, because that looks more like a frittata than either an omelet or a quiche. And nothing about the word "frittata" sounds gay at all.
Use the raging boner you just got from eating the watermelon to glute bridge your girlfriend.
If you don't have a girlfriend, you better deep fry some butter and eat it.
I love you for not having a Fitocracy account. I don't have one either but last week I used a BugMeNot acct to check out something someone posted here.
All I got out of it was this. Scotty posted a profile a day or two ago about this girl who is 17 and posts the most ridiculous workout logs. The volume and sets don't even make sense, and she could be setting Junior National records with the types of #s she's claiming. Warms up with a 135 widowmaker, then does a 255 widowmaker, and then some higher singles and shit.
I commented with the fake acct to ask for a form video and say those #s are skeptical and she told me to fuck off. Numerous white knights defended her honor on the off chance it gets them laid.
They could even more easily check total time logged when there is a time component. That would allow them to catch guys like this more easily.
23.5 hours plus 20 miles of running. He says he was including workouts from the day or two before, but the day before that he logged another 21+ hours of work.
Context, after I posted my recent blog post on that red meat study (basically, "Leave epidemiological research alone!") there was a paleotard shitstorm. In the end, Dayne kept on fucking mentioning Pomegranates.
So now I'm researching Pomegranates as a fruit, as well as the Punicalagins and now Punicic bioactives.
(The 'Also known as' section is going to be changed in a bit, but is just an easter egg at the moment)
I'm switching to 5/3/1. That is not a fail.
Here's the fail; I have been away from the gym for 2 weeks. I tried testing 1RMs on Friday (getting a base for my 5/3/1 cycle). Link to fitocracy where I logged all my fail. Missed at 275lb squat, missed a 150lb OHP, missed a 225lb Bench.
TLDR: I'm weak.
Regarding my secret lady crush, I'm only going to say that I would never sleep with any of the women in this sub, even if you inundated me with naked pictures of yourselves. Go on, try it.
Hi. I'm a skinnyfat newfag with 4 months lifting experience (cue "All Hail Rippetoad!"), and bench less than edubation. I over-analyze random crap over on /fitness and /weightroom. Hprotagonist over on fitocracy.
I post around here sometimes, but not as often as r/weightroom
I know some of you, but a lot of you I don't know (as is obvious from the frequent "who are you?" questions I get on IRC).
Fitocracy profile is under the same as my reddit name, so you can get my numbers, picture and other shit from there.
My pizza dough recipe uses 150 grams of flour per serving (32 cm/ 12.6 inch thin crust pizza) which is 550 kcal. How the fuck do you get to 2000 calories a pizza without dipping it in ranch or something.
EDIT: Nevermind, I looked it up
I was thinking about a pizza with some mozzarella slices and a bit of pepperoni, not something with a kg of cheese on top of it.
In case of culling by the Nazis:
> Hi Reddit - here's a strange question. I enjoy picking up female friends of mine or women I get intimate with - I think it strokes that sort of 'caveman' part of my brain, makes me feel powerful. Plus they love it. > I know this is a bit unusual, but I was thinking of setting weightlifting goals based on the weights of various attractive celebrities. Then I could think "Ok so I could lift Ariana Grande now, time to work on lifting Maria Menounos". I imagine the top end of the scale would be Christina Hendricks? > My first thought is that finding out the weight of these women is going to be difficult as it's not exactly public information. My second is that lifting people is inherently easier than lifting metal weights as humans instinctively shift to distribute their weight to make things easier as in this link, so should I alter my figures based on that? > Can you think of any way I could work this out?
They talk about it in the Bigger Stronger Faster documentary. My cousin is working on her masters for flute and she has mentioned them before. She even wrote a pretty good article on them. Page 10.

>I bet you're willing to accept that on word though aren't you?
Yes, because the academic credentials of physicists and the peer reviewed research on physics are fairly substantial.
The academic credentials of those recommending juice fasting, and the peer-reviewed research available, tend to be somewhat lacking, to say the VERY least.
>There is still much we don't know or understand about the metabolism and various functions of the body, that is no justification for simply dismissing one facet of it.
No, that is EXACTLY the justification for dismissing things. You should not believe in something until you have a reasonable amount of logical or empirical proof that such a thing exists.
>Education is key and everyone should research what they do to their bodies; if you don't agree with it so be it. That doesn't make you anymore correct.
There's where you're wrong. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but not everyone's entitled to their own facts. It's pretty much a well established FACT that a diet containing an adequate amounts of proteins and carbs and fats and vitamins and minerals is superior to one that is deficient in protein and fat and a fair number of vitamins and minerals.
If you have research that shows that fasting for a period of time would be better for someone who'd been eating the "SAD" than just switching to a healthier and more balanced diet for the same period, I'd love to see it.
You might also be interested in the movie "Fathead" (available for free), in which a man loses weight and lowers his cholesterol and improves his overall health by eating at McDonalds EVERY DAY for a month.
who the fuck is barbara spectre? What the fuck do you mean by "you guys", and lastly, why haven't you killed yourself yet?
No seriously, if you think calling this girl, let alone anyone, an "imported coon" is in any way, shape or form acceptable you should just kill yourself right here and now.
I've got a feeling this girl is both stronger than you by a ridicolous margin, and whiter than you.
Even if she was black as night, she could still be fully swede as nationality has nothing to do with skincolour.
Remember the etymology, from latin. Privi-lege -- privi- like private, -lege from legis, "law."
Private law=privi-legis=privilege.

>Exclusive early access Supporting us as a Hero means the world to us. To show our gratitude, we will give you exclusive access to new features before they're released to the rest of Fitocracy. And yes, we will continue to add more features that only Heroes can enjoy.
>This was the biggest draw for me to become a hero (I don't need more routines or to copy someone else's, nor do I care about a silly title or a badge), and I have yet to see any exclusive early access items. No point system testing, no early badge feedback, still haven't seen the much talked about iPhone app, etc.
>I'll believe it when I see it ... there were big plans for September 2011 and those still haven't happened yet.
>This hasn't been addressed yet - the entire thread was misdirected to the iPhone app, not the backlog of promised features from over a 1/2 year ago.
>No point system testing No early badge feedback iPhone app was supposed to be live last month (http://www.reddit.com/r/Fitness/comments/ojj58/unlimited_fitocracy_invites_for_fittit_before_we/c3hydpl) Over-focusing on the Shorty awards (even posting to FCJ about it) instead of the numerous bugs [irrelevant to this thread] Telling advanced lifters that they shouldn't be using the site for it's intended purpose Etc., the list goes on

STOP THE PRESSES!
It's website to track and log your workouts where you earn points for what you do and can compete and complete quests and challances. It's got a pretty big population of r/fitness users.
If you want an invite PM me your email and I'll ship one out to you.
What happened is that the fittit group started a challenge wherein people have a week to get the most points. The winners are the top 15 but I'm not sure what they win beyond pride and maybe a sense of accomplishment. On the first day svunt logged a pretty sweet workout that was all heavy singles. The big deal about that was that the point system is skewed heavily towards the first rep. So, for example, squatting 250x1 will get you 90 points. But squatting 250x5 will only get you 95 points. (or something like that). Svunt ended up get nearly 10,000 points for his workout. Literally two days before everyone was shitting their pants when scotty got a ~3000 point workout that was done with just kettlebells, so 9000+ points was a total shock.
In the end, there was massive dramedy as people accused him of point whoring, gaming the system, and on and on. The admins ended up consolidating his reps into a few sets (svunt, being the magnanimous gent he is, consented) and his points were reduced.
phew. That was long. are you up to speed?
I'm finishing up Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl before I start Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. I'm on a psychology/stoicism kick and it's been the shit. All this nonfiction is a nice change of pace from my usual reading. If you have recommendations that fall into cool psychology based nonfiction books, I'd love to hear them.
Errrrr, I'm not sure how you can conflate demonizing ADA with saying DNP is poison. One of these is literally true, the other is handwringing.

vs
Universal enough that it's the subject of Derek Sivers TED Talk.
Talking about goals lowers the likelihood of achieving them.

WTF does that mean?
Calling out usually happens on their walls and is discouraged in the forums (unless they open themselves up to it). Though that would be a good group to make. A place to share all of the BS workouts you see on the site.
Hold on, I'ma go make one.

The sad thing is that there are thousands of comments from women thinking they are gonna get her body if they do the same workout...
That's part of what I'm working with now, yeah. Part of why I finally broke down and went back to using myfitnesspal. That way I can see for certain what macros I'm taking in. Up to now, I basically kept a running tally of calories in my head, and how many grams of protein I thought I'd taken in that day, and buffer it with additional protein powder.
This way I can see for fact what I'm taking in. I know, I know - probably should have done that a long time ago, but if you knew how much data I already collect on myself between sleep, exercise, lifting, and emotional/wakeful states, you'd understand my reluctance to further micro-manage myself.
That said, between walking around and lifting yesterday, I totally managed to justify eating half a pepperoni pizza in a single sitting without blowing my calories for the day, so there's that. I love how myfitnesspal counts calories burned from lifting as zero, so all of the exercise calories were from walking.
This is a bit of an inside joke between me and the Captain.
Have you heard the saying 'egg on my face'?
My comment above was a follow up to an exchange CaptainSarcasmo and I had yesterday in this thread.
I assure you, all links and euphemisms are entirely safe for work.
Google scholar their ass... someone should probably make an Examine FAQ question about that. "What is the relationship between exercise and intelligence"?
SOMEONE LIGHT THE SILVY SIGNAL, I R TOO LAZY TO DO THIS SHIT TODAY AND KINDA DRUNK RIGHT NOW.
Vanilla is a scent I prefer on women, and sometimes gender norms exist because of an inherent physiological different between men and women (as much as you don't want to hear something like that). Vanilla may contain a few compounds which mimic the hormone estrogen, which is why it's a preferred scent on women rather than on men.
I know as much is definitely true of lavender and tea tree oil. In fact prepubertal gynecomastia in males has been linked to exposure to these substances. So I've decided not to use vanilla in my deodorant just in case, because one of the main reasons I started making my own was the inclusion of parabens and EDTA in many commercial deodorants, which are xenoestrogen compounds.
[4realz] Just a lot of volume, frequency, and intensity on squats. I also try to keep rest periods short to increase my work capacity. For those interested, today's workout on Fitocracy and my squat progression.
I'm avoiding it, because of how popular you and shorty are with slow people.
I keep having to delete my comments on posts like this because even after a week the slow drip of inane comments fills my notification box.
That's not directed at you or spasmo. It's directed to the idiot writing all over your fitocracy. I mean the dude was writing on your wall early in the morning (could be time difference for me) and sounded like a retard. He was stating a fact that he was 'postive' about then backing down cause people were coming back at him

I'm not drunk, but I'm still going to tell all of you to fuck off.
I have a pretty public crush on smoftie, since we're going to be making quaddy babies any day now. So all you smoftie mirers can go fuck yourselves (or Jess).
I guess I kind of have a secret crush on septic? But only because she's Asian. 13 years older than me might be a bit of a problem though....
Smoftie, when are you coming over to my place?
Neonica on fitocracy as well, been lifting half seriously since about this time last year but have screwed around with programs and such so not got any good numbers out of it yet. On 5/3/1 as we speak, 3 week of my 3rd cycle. Applying to be a Royal Marines officer as well, so my cardio needs a bit of work at the minute (I'm English too). Been lurking for a month or 2
Sup bros? My name's Tom. I mostly lurk, though sometimes I post sarcastic comments. Sometimes I work out. I also box and bowl. This is me on fitocracy. I'm not Canadian.
no, I have my eye on her for these sorts of workouts. Maybe I'm just jelly, but whenever I see them my eyebrow shoots up into my hairline.
She is a darling of the site, though, which is why I hold my tongue. I actually stopped following her so I don't have to deal with it.
>p.s. super embarrassed I didn't catch that and remove it. ha.
That's one reason I use Gadwin Print Screen as it allows me to select what I want to capture. I usually almost never include the bookmark bar or address/search bar, just in case. ;)
No research on transmogrification. Please don't mention it again.
If you're interested in new stuff on a budget, I have this rack for less than $200 shipped:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I04Z52G/
Accessories for a 3x3 rack can be kind of a pain in the neck to find, but I've bought this one twice, I like it so much.
Not to scare you or anything, but I felt like the questions in Cracking the Coding Interview weren't quite as hard as what I had or what I found on Glassdoor.
I would look over Google questions in Glassdoor (there's a shitton) and The Algorithm Design Manual by Steven Skiena if you have time (I found a pdf of this book online).
Compared to my first meal of the day. I'd vote for yours, except I probably shouldn't shoot to weigh 250 :/
