I have a favor to ask you guys.
A local favorite, Kessler Park, has the opportunity for expansion. It's currently a quarter mile long hill, that's closed off to traffic 24/7. City council is open to suggestions for new additions, and we've been closely working with the park director. There's a possibility for a pump track, and skatepark being built near the hill we freeride and race. (park director is an OG Slalom guy, so he digs the idea.)
I'd greatly appreciate if you could fill out this survey, and help us out. It'd be rad as hell to have a hub for all things skating in such a close proximity. Our own mini Kamloops, if you will. I know the locals will do their part, but extra signatures never hurt. Thanks again!
As you guys know, Russia have Sochi. Sochi isn't just sea place with huge dick-looking pillar for olympic games.
Also it's a great place for DH Longboarding because of Caucasus.
There is race raw run from night: https://vk.com/rosarace?z=video6962422_170150998%2F7f9d4e1cf16d57ae97 (don't worry, you don't need to register on our social network haha)
Official video and photos coming soon. I'm very proud of longboard movement in Russia, guys.

Hello! Full disclaimer I'm affiliated with this company but I still think these are pretty good deals so I'll leave them here:
10/10 Arbor Highground Complete $100
10/10 Arbor Prodigy Complete $140
Both built with Paris and Sucrose, nice to have legit parts on the budget. If you're looking to get into the sport I would recommend the highground for downhill and the prodigy for freeride.
https://vimeo.com/55624399 - also just in case you were wondering, the helmet tested in this video that fails miserably is VERY similar if not exactly the same as a Pro-Tec soft padded helmet. I would never ride an un-certed helmet.
>that's a compromise for low profile
well there's your answer right there.
I stopped caring about amazon reviews for skate products. You wanna know why? This product has a rating of 4.3/5. Let me tell you buddy; that product is not 4.3/5, it's 2/5 if I'm being nice.
the ones i use at the moment are the hybrid kind (has one ceramic ball per bearing to "clean and cool" and they are one of the best investments i've made in a while. routine maintenance is a plus to keep them in pristine condition.
Before you get shit on for asking a question as a thread, YES! I'm sponsoring this event and it's right next to GA. One of our team riders is going (Frasconator) and so will other fellow redditors. It should be a fun event, definitely check it out.
With google hangouts and a decent overlay you could make the podcast a lot more interesting if you're sticking to just posting them on youtube. There are a lot of people out there that record group video chat podcasts with OBS. There's tons of resources out there to get it set up and its very easy. Yes, its more work but your production value would skyrocket over the current format.
For sure this backpack has to bottle holders in the back I can access as well for sports drinks or coffee. It was my favorite pack from my ultra running days. Now it's all torn up from a fall I took skating a few weeks ago. The shoes I'm rocking are Xero shoes prio. I run in their sandals and love em so I figured these would be good for LD skating and so far they are great! I even think I saw the owner of pantheon wearing them in a video as well. They are flat and thin, but not too thin.
Link to the shoes on amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07P38T9RS/ref=twister_B07BZCDP7M?th=1
I like to offer my son experiences. I'm working on my glider licence. So, naturally, I had him go up. It's not super hero. It's just spending time with him and including him and visa versa. His first glider flight 😎
try checking out your local hobby shop. Or amazon how ever you prefer. You could get some super bright LED strips that are super thin and wire them up with hardly anyspace under the board or above being taken up. The strips are less wide than the thickness of the edge. Run the edge and now you have illumination in front of the board on the ground. Mix that up with a high quality head lamp and maybe some friends and you might just have a good time.,
I've been thinking of doing this for some nighttime neighborhood strolls.
edit something like this
Mini dinghy if size is your primary requirement.
http://landyachtz.com/boards/mini-cruisers/dinghy-24-ghost-ride
They're actually more expensive than a Penny but I really dislike the plastic deck on a penny board personally.
My daughter wanted one so i messed with it in a store and blecch.. felt bad man.
I ended up buying her a cheapass wooden mini cruiser on amazon and it felt better than the penny (after a bearing swap)
ULTRA small though at 22" and it's definitely a cheap board... but hey even if it doesn't work for you you're out $40.
I'm a big dude... 260lbs and it holds my weight, no sign of stress cracks yet.
Also if it gets nabbed by airport security you're not out $120-150.00 But yeah the bearings are ass so prepare to upgrade them if you cheap out.
Amazon is selling a Twitch x LY Dinghy for $50.
Photos show Bears and Hawgs, so it looks like a regular Dinghy with a Twitch graphic.
I normally just lurk but had to poke my head out to say this:
OP please for the love of god don’t use these. You are going to seriously fuck yourself up when they splinter or flat out shatter on the asphalt and embed little shards in your hand that you’ll then probably need to go to the hospital for.
Worst case scenario they break in half and you slice through your glove and through your hand.
Just don’t do this. Please.
Amazon has cheap ones (https://www.amazon.com/IMPORX-Standard-Longboard-Downhill-Replaceable/dp/B01NCPVIAL/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=longboard+gloves&qid=1561357262&s=gateway&sr=8-4)
And if those are too much then maybe ask your parents or check out some clearance sales on various websites.
But ya don’t do that. You’re gonna cut yourself badly. Happy skating!
I don't see that this is against the rules (correct me of wrong pls).
I have this one in my cart. It is dual certified.
Retrospec CM-1 Bicycle / Skateboard Helmet for Adult CPSC Certified Commuter, Bike, Skate, Medium: 55-59 cm / 21.75"-23.25", Matte Forest Green https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NDTZSCX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_R5FeEb773YKKK
Adding some PSA notes - measure your head and get one that fits correctly.
Support your local shop (says the guy who posted an amazon link). I had a gift card.
It's a "speedboard"
A failed kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jacobsma/skateboard-longboard-speedboard
the funny part is that, in the risks section, they state: "The Risks we may come across include: The extreme bend in the middle of the board might be too much and cause cracking"
Uh..when asking for $15,000 that should be something that you've already overcome...
Thanks! It's the opposite, actually. I paint a blob of where the planet would be, then cover that with something round (even, say, a styrofoam asian noodle container) then black over that, add some light misc colors, then splatter the white on for stars. Here is the instructable that I originally learned it from about a year ago.
Edit: I also have a video as part of Churchill's whole upload a vid to youtube and get a free deck promo he mentioned. It took maybe 15 mins to do this. It's the waiting in between clear coats that is killing me.
The images in the imgur album are backwards. Here is a link to the original image, it is also in the album. http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=900067
Procedure: A. 1. Sand off spray on grip. 2. Apply a few coats of polyurethane. B. 1. An image of the board (to scale) was created in Photoshop and the custom image was adjusted accordingly to my preference. 2. Image loaded into cutting printing software and sent to vinyl printing machine. 3. Vinyl printed 4. Vinyl has masking layer added. 5. Applied to the board with soapy water, line up, and then squeegee out water for glue to stick. 6. Apply all of vinyl and cut out extraneous vinyl around board, and for trucks. 7. Spray more polyurethane, coat in tex tread, and apply more polyurethane.
That's a simple breakdown of how it went. I'm happy with the end product.
Seller wants 120. This would be my first real board. Is this a good deal?
Guys I need your help, going to order Caliber Trucks but have no idea which ones are popular.
Please take this 1 question survey to help me figure out what to order: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/J98P2NW
So at one point I pulled the trigger and bought some expensive ceramics. Specifically rocket rons ceramics. I could definitely feel the difference at first but the problem is with the nature of boarding it damages bearings over time so after a while they weren't much better than a cheaper pair. You'll hear everyone go on about zealous and they are a solid bearing. I use them on my free ride and techslide decks. However I don't like zealous for long distance because of the thick grease. So I prefer a cheap pair with just a thin lubricant. I saw a recommendation by some other long-distance guys for these ILQ7 set of rollerblade bearings since they're for rollerblades you get enough for two sets of wheels. I've been riding them for about a month now and they feel pretty solid. My rule of thumb is I won't spend over $20 on a set of bearings.
I reide zealous on my downhill boards but I hate that thick grease for long distance. A good cheap one for long distance that helps keep crap out and is a reasonable price is these rollerblade ones. There's a few dudes that use them. And since their rollerblade sets they are enough for two sets of wheels so on a longboard https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08NTWCRBX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_DB8EH2E4PQX8VHKVQDP0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
The design is RIVIERA Great Wave 41.5, and the design underneath is a bit miscoloured but not flaking at all or really distorted anywhere.
The bearings were really solid so I think they're good for some time yet still.
Based on my examination around the deck and just the feel of it and combined with the lack of rust anywhere of the trucks a bearing, I'd reckon the water damage is minimal, if at all. Either way I'm really happy with the state of it. Just a bit of sanding around the edges and it will get a really good trim.
https://www.amazon.com/lordofbrands-Monopat%C3%ADn-Longboard-Skateboard-Riviera-Great/dp/B01M4J9IY7
And also this is what they go for new today, for reference, but like I said the trucks and wheels seem different here.
You're pretty limited by just Amazon but this one is a pretty decent deal: https://www.amazon.com/Arbor-Dropcruiser-2017-Complete-Longboard/dp/B01N9EV19N/
You'll need to pay $30 on top of your gift card but Arbor is a good brand.
This is the giant eraser mentioned earlier. It is baiscally sandpaper cleaner, used mostly on belt sanders. They make them "designed" for skateboard grip tape, but the only difference is the packaging and the price. This is 3 x the size of the skateboard stuff @ 1/3 of the cost.
P.S. it works great!

Where I live, either parks don't have helmet rules, or no one cares enough to enforce them. For a source, I found a few possibly valid answers:
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_people_die_a_year_in_skateboard_accidents
"40/42 occurred out of skateparks" looks like you're right, dude. Sorry for the trouble. The more you know, though.
What? That shit is easy to find on alibaba.com. Triple 8 wasn't even the first company to bring that helmet to America.
I am making a longboard for my Design and Technology (Product Design) project. The project focuses on a skateboard or longboard as a mode of transport; however, they are difficult and inconvenient to carry on planes and trains. My project will address this problem in some manner. This questionnaire will help me to identify the exact problem and the preferred solution that would help the target market most efficiently. heres it is :) https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/YRB5R9B
thank you :)
I've never encountered any with a blue gel but it might be possible. The ones that I pick up at CVS or Walgreens in America look like this. You can get them cheaper and bigger off of Amazon though if you just search for hydrocolloid bandage.
For reference, I was planning on getting these zealous brand bearings specifically because they seem to last really long and don't need much maintenance once they're broken in, whereas something like bones reds seems to need cleaning/replacing a lot more often. Can somebody attest to the quality of these? Is there another good pair of bearings that's particularly low maintenance and a bit more "set it and forget it"?
For safety gear, you should absolutely get a dual certified helmet like a Triple eight sweat saver or a S1 Lifer
If you find a helmet that costs less than these two and claims to be dual certified, do not buy it until running it by us. Amazon in particular is flooded with deliberately deceptive marketing or outright fraudulent products. Those two helmets are the baseline and to my knowledge there aren't any quality alternatives for less.
Dual certified means that it's rated and designed to protect against both a single hard impact (where you throw the helmet away afterwards, hopefully happily because you don't have a concussion) and multiple smaller impacts (like little bonks when you fall doing tricks).
You must wear a helmet, really should wear hard knee pads, and probably should wear hand and/or elbow protection. Once you get more experience, you can decide what you're comfortable with.
I just put 98a Shorty Doh Doh's in my Dinghy (I weigh 270) it feels totally different, way way way better.
https://www.amazon.com/Shortys-Doh-Doh-Bushings-Skateboards-Longboards/dp/B007TWTH74
I ended up getting four barrels and four cones with this purchase from Amazon so I went barrel cone on the dinghy and tossed the extra barrels boardside on my Landy Battle Axe.
Surprisingly major difference on both boards when compared to the factory bushings.
I don't know if 70lbs between us would make those too hard but they're so cheap it couldn't hurt.
I just called a local company that specializes in surfboard building supplies, marine repair, and in resins and composites. They recommended T-88 System 3 Epoxy Resin for this job. It will bond to most types of glass and will dry to be flexible. I found some for you here on Amazon and on System Three's website:
https://www.amazon.com/System-Three-1100K10-Amber-Bottle/dp/B000M64R8I
https://www.systemthree.com/products/t-88-structural-epoxy-adhesive
This local company is where a lot of local surfboard and longboard builders go to get their materials, and the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. I figured they would be a good place to start looking since they sell resins for fiberglass, carbon fiber and kevlar. I hope this helps!
I've never skateboarded before, but I'd like to experiment mixing up my half an hour morning commute on foot with a little skateboarding (maybe 1/4 or 1/3 of the distance, on and off, would be on the board). Not looking to do any tricks, except maybe whatever using the kicktail to move the board from horizontal to vertical so I can carry it is called. Maybe next summer I'd be up for riding off of or onto a curb, but I wouldn't bet on it.
I'm looking for stable and reliable, and able to handle my weight -- I'm currently 236lbs, 5'10", and I want to make sure to get a board that can support my weight.
Two questions:
Sorry for the newb question, but the freedom of making your own board is kind of overwhelming for someone coming from the world of bicycles.
Edit: Third question - is there a way to get a board that isn't, like, 3.5 feet long - and still feels stable? I'd like something that I wouldn't mind carrying the entire way to work if it turns out I don't feel like skateboarding much that day. My goal is to become a pedestrian that can quickly benefit from the invention of the wheel without hauling too much gear.
I'm looking for a deck to replace the one on this Amazon board I use: Quest Super Cruiser Artisan Bamboo Longboard Skateboard, 44" https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008EZNY4W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_6N2OzbZ1A890D
The deck that came with it is stiff and heavy, I'm looking for one that's light and has a some flex to it so I can make tighter turns and eventually do some tricks. Are there any (preferably drop through) decks with two kicktails that are less than $80?
I'm new to skate/longboarding and was thinking of getting something cheap-ish to cruiese around on. Would anyone have any recommendations? I was hoping to get something around $50-75 and around 30" or so.
Also, any opinion on this Quest Cruiser I found on amazon? It seems like something I might like. Thanks a bunch!
Just as a heads up for your next purchase:
$31.41 on Amazon right now for Triple Eight Dual Certified Helmet
Looking to get into longboarding but I don't want to throw all of my money at an expensive board in case I don't like it. Has anyone here ever tried a Quest board? They have a lot of good reviews on Amazon and they are really inexpensive but I want to know if there are any better intro boards.
Edit: I would just use my board for cruising around. I don’t see myself doing any of the downhill stuff that’s on this sub
Hi everyone. Just picked up a Loaded Icarus. I got the complete deck from amazon. Here's the link. https://www.amazon.com/Loaded-Boards-Longboard-Skateboard-Complete/dp/B01HU92KHO/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1519863842&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=loaded+icarus&psc=1&smid=A1KIGC2OOP10VK I was riding for the first time today and wow is it amazing. However, I was carving pretty hard and got some wheel bite and fell. I tightened the trucks a bit after but I'm nervous now to ride it, which is unfortunate. Would love some advice on how to fix this problem, I'd like to keep the 80mm Orangatangs on the board though, they're so dope. Just can't figure out why this is happening...thought this board was made not to have wheel bite.
One my wife picked. It's a Playshion board from Amazon. She wasn't sure if she would like riding and didn't want to spend too much.
For light cruising it's fine but I don't think I would ever want to do any serious down hill with it
Playshion Bamboo Longboard Skateboard Complete (fruit) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07443VW75/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_kOtRAbXK3MYM3
Amazon has 50% off their twitch merch, including their longboards.
Dinghy: https://smile.amazon.com/Twitch-x-Landyachtz-Dinghy/dp/B077BLBL2F
Longboard (looks like a battle axe?): https://smile.amazon.com/Twitch-x-Landyachtz-Longboard-40/dp/B077BQXRZ1
Are they different quality than regular landyachtz?
I already have something similar to a dinghy, but I might consider buying the longboard?
Thanks y'all!
My girlfriend decided she wanted to get into longboarding recently and she has been a bit scared off by the $150+ price point for a decent board. She won't be riding fast or hard, she just wants something to get her feet wet with. We have had no luck on craigslist (small town), so getting a solid used board is off the table. Is it a terrible idea to pick up something cheap from Amazon? Here are two options she is looking at Option 1 Option 2. Any advice or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks for the help.
So my first attempt at building a Carver setup wasn't to my liking. The deck was a bit wide for my liking ultimately (10.25), and I think I'd prefer a shorter wheelbase. The 73mm speed vents just weren't that fun for what a carver is really for - they'd be pretty good for LDP but are unwieldy for surfskate.

So I am going to go with something around 9.5" and 15.5-16" WB. Trying to get something through Amazon because I have a gift card (there is so much crap on amazon).
I've got it narrowed down to a Welcome Magic Bullet, or a Vision Grigley I. I think the Bullet is the winner because it probably has better concave. Any suggestions, or opinions before I pull the trigger?

In 2018 it is actually weirdly hard to find a 30-31" deck, 9.5" wide, with 15.5-16" wb and decent looking concave.

Calling u/b-roc and u/tabbouleh_rasa , you guys are the Jedis of Carver setup advice. I know it's ultimately subjective but definitely curious if you guys know of some other decks with better concave...it doesn't really have to be on Amazon.
Amazon! DUOFIRE Luminous Tape Sticker,9.84' Length x 0.47" Width (1.2cm3m) High Luminance Glow Removable Waterproof Photoluminescent Glow in The Dark Safety Tape (Size-No.5) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XB164GY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_.EPfCb2AK0VJK
Yeah dude it took some searching for me to find some padded shorts with hard plastic as well. I found them on amazon. I highly recommend them. Where the platic is on them is where I would often get road rash when I wiped out practicing slides or just falling. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BR1LTZQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Did some digging and think I found it.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TWG5ZG3/ref=olp_product_details?_encoding=UTF8&me=
The bolts are too long, true, and you should get shorter ones, but that alone won't solve the nut problem. The deck looks pretty thick so I think you have 2 options:
EDIT: And if you are using any type of riser/shock pad, you might want to take it out.
Damn dude how big is your head? I thought I had a massive head and this Triple-8 helmet fits me great. I assume you've measured your dimensions? Sorry to hear you're having trouble with fit though
Unrelated to skating but I'm sure you also search for amazon reviews that say "big head" when looking for things like glasses? Cuz I always do now hahah
Use a proxy like ~~ (I guess this isn't working anymore), or download Hotspot Shield.
Blocked websites are a state of mind.
Another option is Google translate. Paste the website in Google translate, and translate it from a language of your choice (doesn't matter) to English. A few words can get messed up but it works.
I'm looking for some ideas and feedback for my Longboard Guide App. What would you like to have in such an app? I'm already working on a Truck Guide wich has information of a bunch of trucks and how they work.
And what are your guys favorite longboard news sites (besides reddit ofcourse)?
Check out churchill: https://www.funboxdist.com/store/drop-through-longboards/
I'm going to get shat on for posting this, but: https://jet.com/search?term=atom%20longboard Coupled with 'GMA30' for 30% off (for a max of $30) gets you a board in the $70 range. Atom's drops are fine for cruising. If you plan on doing some more serious stuff like freeride/downhill, then pass on these. Code expires tonight.
Unrelated, but I was here the other day: Thunderhill Raceway skid pad. Here it is on google maps.
It's basically a big patch of super smooth asphalt and a gentle incline. I had my board and really wanted to try it, but it was my 3rd day of longboarding ever. :/
I go to google image search, type in "Dr. Zaius stencil" (or whatever you are looking for) and then click on "large" on the lefthand side for image search. You can print it out on multiple sheets using Rasterbator if it's really big.
Or you can download the free Gimp and make a stencil from any picture using this tutorial:
http://www.instructables.com/id/Complete-Stencil-Tutorial-Using-a-Free-Program/
I don't know if it will ruin your board, but wood (I'm assuming your board is made of wood) will soak up liquids, as well as motor oil. This is the most help i can give you.
The arbor catalog will take a long time to pop up on our website because we have to take inventory and make all the product pages haha good thing that's not my job. We have a $100 arbor highground complete here and a $140 arbor prodigy complete here of which I may have stolen one soo no one buy the last one...
head to ninite.com for a bunch of commonly used programs to download all in one place! An essential for every build, I use it for every client. It's super reliable and keeps everything up to date
This whole debate is one reason why I started calling it pushing wood.
Seeing how that is what we're doing anyway.
I'm in SoCal, but jump on Google Earth and turn on bike paths.
Find bike paths that connect developments. Or just scenic loops. Ever skate around Cobbetts Pond?
Strava would be useful to find popular segments. I like to use RideWithGPS to plan routes because it has elevation.
Also looks like a V after the O. I'm guessing OVERLAND. It's a pusher. I believe this is the prototype. Here's a good photo of it on the ground: https://www.flickr.com/photos/97408504@N04/9946263906/
How about a drop deck (switch template) for 40$?
Made a drawing in Inkscape, printed it out, laid it out over the tape, used an x-acto knife to cut it out.
I've placed the drawing over the grippy part of the tape but in retrospect, it would've been better to print it mirrored and cut from the back side - much easier.
Perhaps LED throwies? They'll stick to your board's hardware/kingpin. Won't stick to anywhere else...
They won't help with you seeing pebbles but they will make you easier to see so ya don't get hit by cars or nothin' like that. Not to mention, they're cheap so you won't worry about trashing them.
If you are under 150 pounds you could convert your deck by mounting downhill (35 degree baseplate) trucks on the kicktails like so. I've been riding one as my main for a while now and enjoy every second of it.
I was thinking this one, it's a bit beat up but looks like a great learner.
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/385998848847015/
I am also looking at this one but am a bit put off by no grip tape.
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/261768848056702/
There are plenty of other styles but I have read that Pintails are great learner's. There are also a few drop throughs on here as well.
If I were you, I'd wait a little bit on getting a Bustin. They are about to release the Robot, which is a completely symmetrical drop through, unlike the Maestro which has that foot pocket. The Robot looks to be a more versatile board as well.
You can catch a glimpse of it in the 2011 Concrete Wave Buyer's Guide. It's on page 55.
You're right, downtown has absolutely no good board shops. I agree that Uprise sucks. There are a couple in the burbs -- Tradewinds in Crystal Lake and Fatties in Cary (right across from train station). I have been to Tradewinds and the owner is awesome, just an old guy who loves boarding. I haven't been to Fatties, but it seems like it is good because most of the guys in CLS back it. If you don't know about CLS, check it out here. Where you at downtown? I am right at LaSalle and Division if you want to skate sometime.
I just ordered and eel with this sweet graphic of our prez with a doobie (real picture) but this image would crop on quite nicely.
I know I just forgot to grab one before I went out yesterday abut Ill make sure to grab it today. I think I got a good one, i beleive its this one. I just grabbed it and put it next to my board so I dont forget today. Also that was the main video that got me to buy a helmet before I got my board. I rarely ride without it.
not sure if these are sold in europe, but you can always pick up a cheap rubberized tail guard from amazon! link here
Looking to properly fit my helmet. My head measures 22.3 inches which is within the range of both Medium (20-22.8) and Large (21.3-23.6). A pic on the order suggested Large for heads measuring 21.3+ so I ordered Large. However it's loose in the following situations and I'm not sure if I should order Medium or if this is normal:
All of the above are without the chin strap clipped or adjusted. Am I right to expect that the helmet should fit snugly and not move much for the above three situations even without the chin strap? Or should certain of these movements only stay tight with a chin strap? There is also noticeable space between my temples and the helmet.
Here's the helmet: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CWNCQL3?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2\_dt\_b\_product\_details
I always advocate for using a heavy duty grease like THIS.
You use it the same way as anything else, it's just thicker and does a phenomenal job lubricating and protecting your bearings. You don't need a ton, just smear some into the bearings (obviously you would pull the cover off of them, but I assume you know this if you're going to be cleaning them anyway).
Everyone talks about different thinner greases and lubricants, but this stuff is seriously good, and a tub will last you a dozen lifetimes. There are smaller containers of the stuff if you don't want to spend as much, or have as large of a container. :)
Hey, several people told me that wrist guards are actually dangerous once you’re traveling at moderate speeds because they’re stiff and drive the force up your arm, and can snap, causing cutting damage. They said to use the puck style sliding gloves instead. Idk if that’s accurate or not, but it kind of makes sense. As far as cheap goes, you can get a full set of pads including wrist guards on Amazon for $22. I have this set and it seems really nice, especially for the price.
For what it’s worth, most trucks have the same sizes for replaceable parts. Meaning, for example, bushings that fit Independent TKP trucks will also fit Penny branded TKP trucks, and those will also fit Paris branded RKP trucks, etc. Same should apply to most pivot cups on modern trucks.
Some brands are a bit funky. I think Bear (don’t quote me on that though) needs a little trimming to use Riptide pivot cups, for example.
As an aside, I always recommend that everyone have an affordable set of calipers at home for exactly these kinds of situations. The $40 they will cost you will save you weeks (when you add things up over in the years) of annoying conversations with customer support, making forum posts, or just trial and error. I personally recommend this Fowler.
Ok, I have this longboard and im looking to upgrade part of it. Right now im looking to replace the wheels for something else as Im trying to learn slides and and the wheel that are on now just feel really soft. What kind of wheels / duro do you guys recommend?
Definitely a beginner still so the more details the better!
That's bs. I started with these: https://www.amazon.com/JINCAO-Portable-Anti-Slip-Aluminum-Bearings/dp/B00VWXCZCU
Now that was a challenge lmao. I couldn't stand on a regular skateboard or anything. I had a lot of fun, but it was too hard on my knees. I bought a regular skateboard after and suddenly I could skateboard.
I'd say the balance skills cross over into different areas of your sports. So anything balance like, even balance boards (for winter season) will benefit you.
Personally I think surfskating is easier, because you don't have to regain your balance after each push.
I learned the freeskates (10-20 meters) in three days or so. The surfskateboard in 5 minutes. So it really depends on what you want to do. I like a regular skateboard to go somewhere fast. Grab the board and your gone. A surfskate is considerably slower.
But in the 5 years I've skated, I've like grabbed my skateboard like 10-15 times to skate for fun. My surfskate.... Every day if the weather (and my muscles) allow it lol. This week alone I've surfskated +100km.
At my local hardware store. But you can find them everywhere (Home Depot and such), usually at the garage storage/organization department. Even on Amazon:

Hi! I bought an Arbor factory setup like yours (slightly different shape) for my SO. Overall, it's great.
One thing...FYI, I tinker and upgrade my longboards. One thing I quickly noticed is arbor boards ship with REALLY cheap wheel bearings. They make you slow to a stop faster than a decent set of bearings (stock, the board didn't even have spacers).
So...when you're ready for a quick (5-10 mins and $18) upgrade that will make the board feel SO much better...https://www.amazon.com/Bones-Bearings-Reds-Spacers-Washers/dp/B0798WGCB1/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Bones+Reds&qid=1610929374&sr=8-1
I never longboarded and I'm getting a longboard but I bought a amazon longboard despite another friend that said amazon boards are bad is this even really that bad 🤔 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0899CQBJF/ref=cm_sw_r_u_apa_fabc_dlC_b3gWFbCB83TDD?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Hey guys. Buying an Arbor Sizzler tomorrow. Can only spend enough to get a stock complete. Which is better bang for my buck? Muirskate or Amazon?
Muir: MuirSkate Beasto Bearings, 0.13" MuirSkate Shock Pad - Soft Risers, 149mm Paris Street Truck, 70mm MuirSkate Offset Freeride Wheels
Amazon: Arbor SI Bogart 61mm 82a Wheels, ABEC 5 Bearings, Gullwing Shadow DLX 9.0" Trucks
Alright friends, I bought a 8bit board off of amazon before I understood longboards better. I'm looking at getting a new longboard with my graduation money and wanted to know your opinion on what I should get. I want to get into sliding this summer because I have a sweet hill to practice on.
Should I just upgrade the parts on my old board (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B011LOZ81Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_XVfwxbG8WTJ9W) or should I get a new setup completely?
My budget probably would be 150-250. (Not sure yet because I haven't got my graduation money yet.)
I don't know if this is the best place to look for advice on the matter but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask. My longboard was stolen in San Jose, CA and I found it on craigslist.
This is the board. https://www.amazon.com/Santa-Cruz-Skate-Skateboard-43-5-Inch/dp/B0043SI4FI
I let my roommate borrow it one night and he got drunk and forgot to lock his car and it was grabbed from the back seat overnight. This happened about 2 months ago but while looking for a replacement board today, I found my board on Craigslist. The seller posted pictures and I know for sure it is my board. There is a distinguishing scratch on the trucks from when I skated over a huge rock. It is in the exact same spot and is the exact same scratch. The poster claims the board is new and has only been ridden a few times but I owned it for nearly 2 years.
I've texted them asking for a closer picture of the scratch just to make sure but at this point I am 100% confident it is my board. The only proof I have that it belongs to me is my amazon order history. Does anyone know if this board has a serial number that can be traced back to my order? Or has anyone been in a similar situation? Any advice would be appreciated!
Pretty sure this is similar to what you are looking for.

I compete in powerlifting and when you squat or pull you are basically looking for a minimalist shoe with ankle support. Wide toe box, 0 drop and high top. Full retail they are expensive but you can find them on sale on amazon and if you have a reebok outlet around you can buy them for $40.
I've also skated in NB Minimus Trails and they blow my ankles up.
Yeah you got ripped off, they're $70-$90 brand new on amazon before it got discontinued few years ago. https://www.amazon.com/Carve-one-Freeride-Downhill-Longboard-Complete/dp/B00DWOL6TA?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0
Im somewhat parial to Rayne decks. If you have enough credits this guy is a great deck.
Is there any reason that you advise against amazon? And all boards from Amazon? Or just their list of less than well known lines? I am looking at a mid range Sector 9 board for my first(brother is hugely into it, and I want to learn).
Laken Thermo water bottle (34 oz). Made in Spain, insulated so your water won't turn warm when it gets in the sun (also keeps cold stuff cold and hot stuff hot really well), and about $27 on Amazon compared to the $40 Hydroflasks of similar size. I always bring it with me when I skate and pretty much every time I go outside
Here's some on amazon. And if you think this is something you'll be doing a lot of in the future I really recommend the harness. I know it's a bit much but as far as I can tell they seem comfortable and after almost two years of use mine show no signs of wear anywhere so I really do think they'll last forever. Edit: I think this has been recommended to us the most.
yeah gaskets look like the could be good for a low profile option, just a little hesitant looking at amazon reviews about smell issues. and they don't go on easy without taking shoes off but I guess that's a compromise for low profile
Thank you, that does look awesome. I have an amazon gift card, so I'm stuck buying there. It's a complete, here's the amazon link. It doesn't show exact specs though :(
Thanks, I remember wanting flywheels back in the day but not having the money. They're pretty sweet looking. But I'd also prefer to buy from Amazon cause I have credit there.
Any opinions on the cheap unbranded wheels like these? Or other choices with nice colors (I probably gotta stay green cause that's what I've always had...)
I'm thinking of buying the Sector 9 Rush gloves from Amazon.com, but I have a couple of questions. 1: How do I know which size I should get? I can't find a size chart at Amazon. 2: Can I put duct tape on the fingers so I don't damage the material? I'm a beginner, so I don't know how do distribute my weight on the ground properly yet.
I also found these gloves on Amazon. They are slightly more expensive, but they also look more durable because they're made of leather. The reviews on Amazon also says that the gloves are very durable. I think that I should get S/M rather than L/XL. Which gloves should I get do you think?
Wow! Thank you so much! Do you know where I can find a "sanding belt cleaner" in Sweden? How are they called in Swedish? I found this on amazon but the shipping costs almost the same as the product itself https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00GY4F3RQ Any idea if I could find these at a local hardware store like Biltema or such?
EDIT: grammar
So I was planning on buying a complete Landyachtz Dinghy, and I was wondering if it was a bad idea to order one through Amazon instead of somewhere like Muirskate because they have the graphic design I wanted? I understand I should be helping support the scene by ordering through places that give back to it, but I'm getting the same parts either way and I really like the Osteon graphic much more than the other ones for sale on places like Muirskate or Daddies.
That's true, I always end up separating things into classes. Should I avoid boards on Amazon that are best selling like these? https://www.amazon.com/Volador-42inch-Freeride-Longboard-Through/dp/B01N5NRZMS/ref=sr_1_4?s=outdoor-recreation&ie=UTF8&qid=1494559852&sr=1-4&keywords=longboard
I know in areas like music there are easily identifiable "shit" instruments, so is there any companies that are generally well trusted in the community?
I'm looking at getting into longboarding - my budget is about $150 CDN. Literally just to get to the coffee shop about a 15 minute walk from my house but I'm sick of walking. I have no intentions of using it other than to get to places around town. I was looking at this - https://www.amazon.ca/Atom-Drop-Deck-Longboard-41-Inch/dp/B0056IXSEQ/ref=pd_bxgy_468_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=5EMPK7BPXMX9225DSWJR
After browsing this subreddit it appears people fucking despise Atom. I weigh literally nothing (102lbs) any advice would be greatly appreciated. (Preferably purchase off Amazon as my local skate shop only has boards for $400+)
