If anything, this MWO debacle has taught me to research the shit out of F2P/crowdfunding developers before one buys in. PGI has gone by several different names in the past and look at the software they fucking produce: shovelware. I wish we, the community, had known that PGI wasn't some lovable underdog company trying their hardest to make a quality AAA title but were in fact out to make a quick buck from day 1.
I had hoped that my MC/hero mech purchases were an investment towards the potential of a great game but in fact I had been gambling with several hundred dollars and I lost. I learned my lesson and I've cleanly walked away from the game.
For me it was the honesty aspect mixed with the game design.
I don't know how many times we were told one thing and then had them go and do another. I won't dive too deeply into this as we are all well aware.
The other is game design, from the terrible new UI that I found no longer fun to build mechs to ghost heat. PGI just isn't good at balancing this game. The UI is really thing thing preventing me from even wanting to try coming back, I have already moved on to other games now.
Timeline. This I believe puts it into a fairly unbiased and objective look at the reasons some people like me stopped playing as they released the Gold mech packs just after Pheonix. Decided to bring my money to Star Citizen mainly due to community involvement and interaction.
Edit: Also, playing from Australia, the HSR problems really hit hard. I loved playing in Jenner, Cicada, and srm Awesome brawlers. Then when HSR went bad for srm's and unhittable spiders especially, I had enough.
Right now there's actually an event going on! Whenever you do the most damage to an enemy mech, you get a point. More points means more prizes, up to a free mech and mech bay slot. More details here. https://mwomercs.com/tournaments?t=201601champion3
So, currently the game is in a bit of a renaissance. Mechs, weapons, systems are being retweaked and rebalanced, 3 maps so far have been remade (Canyon Network, Polar Highlands, and as of yesterday actually, HPG Network!), with a 4th coming next month (Caustic Valley).
Also since like 2018 there's been the addition of Solaris 1v1 and 2v2 combat... that unfortunately is dead and they're currently figuring what to do on that, but to counter that, there were a massive slew of new mechs brought in up until mid-2019.
Here are the patchnotes from yesterday (the 24th), and I'd recommend just having a look at the game for yourself. Legitimately though, the game has been much more fun in the last few months than it had been in quite a long time and I can only see it getting better from here.

PGI said in their roadmap for 2021 that we can expect daily and weekly quests starting sometime in the third quarter of 2021. We'll have to see is they stick to that though.

Yes, annual reward program:
https://mwomercs.com/news/2021/11/2569-annual-rewards-program-countdown
You basically get some extras if you bought something in the last year. Have a look in the link to see more details.
It's been a while since I played but isn't that the prime variant from the Clans packs? You should be able to get just the Timer Wolf ones as A La Carte. https://mwomercs.com/clans. No idea if it is available other ways.
MWO is quite single-core CPU hungry and that's its greatest bottleneck I believe. You could post your specs, so we could go into further detail.
You can also try some tweaking: https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/273645-mwo-settings-guide-and-usercfg/
Are you prepared to wait a little bit for some of your content? If so - you could consider doing the following...
Buy the Origins IIC Hunchback pack for $40. Get the Marauder basic pack for $20. You would have to wait until December to receive that content if you can be patient...but you would then get the following...
Hunchback IIC (dual uac20s on chassis will be great), Jenner IIC (will likely be best light 'Mech in the game when it drops) and Marauder (if you know lore, you are excited) - if you made that decision essentially today, you'd also get the Marauder preorder bonuses (6.5 million c-bills plus a couple modules and some other stuff) - you'd also get the loyalty rewards Wolverine D (30% cbill bonus), and the loyalty rewards Nova D (same)
The loyalty WVR and Nova you get on October 6th.

A good place to start is this interactive timeline that you can sift through yourself, by date covering most relevant events since you last checked in. It's a wip, courtesy of Chronojam.
op, here's an interactive timeline of events from 2011-2014 that illustrate why things are the way they are.

Posting again.

With a development cycle like that it can be understood that people who have been here since the beginning area tad bit peeved at the developer.
In the real world, Bryan Ekman is still a director and owner at and of Piranha Games. Now fuck right off you nut.
Choose the deck, IS or Clan, you have the best selection of competitive mechs from.
For a build guide, check out Yondus. https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/277022-faction-play-guide/
For game play, watch Yondu's YT channel https://youtube.com/c/Yondude
Basically, just be Yondu.
Be absolutely aware, it is not beginner friendly. While it plays a lot differently from QP, make sure you are a quite capable pilot before thinking about it and remember that 75% of issues are found in your mechlab.
https://mwomercs.com/game/patch-notes/2507
CHANGELOG (Previous Values are based on Pre-March Patch Values):
Artillery Strike:
Damage per shell reduced to 5 (from 15) Bombarding duration increased to 6 seconds (from 3) Total number of shells increased to 20 (from 10)
Air Strike:
Damage per bomb reduced to 10 (from 15) Total number of bombs increased to 7 (from 6) - longer distance
You'd have to look at the skill maze and see what the skills do to modify the strikes but that should be pretty easy, IIRC all they do is increase the number of shells so multiply that by the damage. It's a lot less than it used to be before the nerf thank god.
Managed to find this thread: https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/203873-rewards-20-what-you-need-to-do-to-get-xp-and-cb/
Looks like there is some rewards for NARCING the target, but only if it dies with your beacon still up. Kinda wierd.
in case you missed it, there's a free 7day premium time code : "MechWarriorOnline_Gift_2017" that you can redeem on the MWO site, it will activate when you next login into the game. I don't know if it has an expiration date in case you want to save it, but it probably will only be valid this year.

Here ya go. Only goes to Oct of last year since that's about when the person building it gave up on tracking every screw up PGI produces.

https://mwomercs.com/news/2021/08/2543-space-science-sales-mc-bundles-from-updated
Normally, you just pay 14.95 for 3000 MC with nothing else.
The full price mechbays is 300 mc, so 6 of them would equal 1800 free mc, plus 200 GSP=enough to skill out 2 mechs.
It's a very good deal.
The bigger one all the more.
This is good advice. Don't let the meta govern your fun. Find a mech you like and cover it in weapons you like. Just be aware that what you like, might not correspond with what wins matches.
Most importantly, TEST DRIVE it! You can customize a mech you don't own out of the store, mess with its load outs, and then go see how it performs on a map against standing targets. Find out if that's the kind of gear you have fun with.
You don't HAVE to look at all the meta stuff, but I would recomend looking at the mech hitboxes at the very least. You might like a mech, but then realize you're being kneecapped by the chassis's bad layout. Forum with hitbox images.
Absolutely! MWO Already has an API but it is limited to private matches only.
https://mwomercs.com/profile/api
PGI should work on way more important things first ... but if they are going to choose between 'MWO Cloud' and API .. they should work on API because it is something that the community would actually embrace IMO.
There are a LOT of different roles, but you choose which one(s) to fill at any given time. Outside of the higher competitive anything you run will be fine and the matchmaking will make a functional group almost every time. In general you can sort the roles into a gridish type thing of two groups, weapon/utility loadout and size. A good size explanation is the first post of https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/17445-assault-vs-heavy/
The weapons are something you should toy with yourself on the trial mechs. Try ones with missiles, lasers, ballistics, and snipers (PPC/Gauss) of whichever size appealed to the most and that should give you a good idea of what you want to try for your first mechs.
Hopefully it means VR sensibility in design, which the teaser they showed actually complies.
Yes MWO has head tracking (I'm literally the one that prodded them into finally implementing it btw, but it's pretty borked), but VR is much much more than merely head tracking, even if they did make the UI not suck.
My first thoughts when I saw the teaser was HOLY FUCK THIS MIGHT BE VR FRIENDLY. Mech movement is realistically slow for a 55t walking machine, which for the first time visually fosters large scale but is also a key ingredient in not making VR users nauseous, as is fluidity though that's harder to gauge from the short demo.
Even if you could technically play mwo in vr you would not want to, it breaks p much all the rules of VR design even if your computer could possibly generate the fps needed because of the massive amounts of jank in movement, like the sheer speed at which most move and jerkiness when turning (this is big), mechs warping all over when they swap paint, 'pebbles of steel' and tons of other sources of discontinuity of controls etc and is a textbook recipe for vr sickness.
Week 2 October for MC, Week 2 November for C-bills. There has also been talk of Clan trial mechs.
Wanna read something hilarious?

I had this theory back in CB that this wasnt meant to be a game or a gaming company, that this was just a big social experiment to see how much bullshit you can dump on a playerbase and still HAVE a playerbase willing to give you money (and the game took off more than they were expecting) because of all the shenanigans they were up too
http://www.tiki-toki.com/timeline/entry/250736/Mechwarrior-Online-Mismanaging-Expectations

http://www.tiki-toki.com/timeline/entry/250736/Mechwarrior-Online-Mismanaging-Expectations#vars!date=2011-10-23_13:32:00! (interactive version)
Take a look at this.
Even if it does go back to MS, it'll get shelved like most other IPs Microshaft has bought out. Remember RARE games? :(
It's a messy situation with the whole Mechwarrior Online thing. To me, it's just a bunch of teenagers (err manchildren?) trying to bring back an old IP. The thing is, is that they're doing a terrible job at it. (http://www.tiki-toki.com/timeline/entry/250736/Mechwarrior-Online-Mismanaging-Expectations#vars!date=2014-09-14_09:26:05!) They have the artists, but they don't know how to code worth anything in CryEngine.
It was a joyful ring to hear Mechwarrior came back after 10 years of inactivity, but it was a bad taste that it would be Free to Play with nothing but new mechs/maps, slow development, and features that aren't implemented (destruction, collisions), aren't implemented properly (cockpit Screens, UI (debatable)), or features that the community simply doesn't want (3rd person).
I will copy/paste what I told karl below (he got downvoted to hell):
I still like to watch what is happening with the community/game that I spent a long time with (not to mention money). I find MWO/PGI to be a fascinating specimen.
This explains why we are so salty: http://www.tiki-toki.com/timeline/entry/250736/Mechwarrior-Online-Mismanaging-Expectations#varsdate=2011-09-14_17:25:01

>Kinda wish they'd add a PVE survival mode or something as a distraction for people who've had a shitty losing streak.
I found this yesterday. Been playing since launch.
Did you know there is kinda a pve survival mode in game?
I just found it. There is even several difficulty levels. Like nothing but waves of damaged lights, or harder like undamaged med/heavy.
Wave after wave of them, and if they get to close the start shooting you.
Here's the list of what mechs are in what division: https://mwomercs.com/s7-mech-divisions The CN9-YLW is the only Cent in D7. I don't know why your CN9-YLW was not seen in available for selection. May need to file a support ticket. Feel that rocket love!

It depends, I think you can have only one copy of a mech pack, but you can have multiples of a hero mech. I'd think if he tried to redeem a mech pack he has, it wouldn't work.
You can see all the mechs in the game client or here when logged in to the account https://mwomercs.com/profile
I didnt played for nearly a year too. The skilltree isnt that hard to get into it. You just have to decide in what direction you wanna skill your mech. Brawler? Get some survival nodes. Laserboats will profit from the operations skill and so on. There are multiple ways to get some SP. You should have some general SP from your old mechs for wich you dont have to pay c-bills and (Mech)XP. You could also find some usefull guides at the forum. This for example: https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/250960-mwo-skill-tree-intro-tutorialvideo/
You having a bad day or something?
I already posted the link, https://mwomercs.com/community proving you wrong.

Keeping the player base informed
Quite frankly /u/AtlasBurke, I think it's too early to do a "And it turned around article". Things are definitely better than they were, but we're still at a -bit- of a feature standstill. This article might be good to write for the end of the year though, as a long-form feature piece... assuming PGI continues on a better path.
Anyhow, mandatory linking: Chronojam's MWO Timeline
As for your questions... I was starting to answer them when I realized that those questions are too broad, and too vague. How everything went to shit is a long history of mistakes (or malice, though I'd like to think the former). Some issues that previously were shit have been fixed, but a number of issues remain (and I remain hopeful)...
As for the lessons other devs could take? My friend, you could write a whole book on the development of MWO and the things other devs could learn from it. It's not quite John Romero or Derek Smart, but in my lifetime this seems to be one of the most storied game developments in the industry's history (Though we've yet to see how Star Citizen will turn out).
Hit me up with a private message with your skype info, and perhaps we can talk if you want. I'm not sure how much you already know... my knowledge of everything isn't the greatest, but I can give you my perspective.Keep in mind though /u/chronojam or mintfrog would know the best really.
For new players:
http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/67854-a-s-unofficial-mechwarrior-online-field-manual/page__st__20
Take note and educate yourself on the developer, PGI, before you spend real money on MWO. (Spoilers, most of it is bad.)
You might want to be careful. In the unofficial rules of shadowbans, impersonation is a no no.
>Don't impersonate another redditor with a name of similar appearance, e.g. /u/LaureIai ("I") for /u/Laurelai ("l")
Don't know who you really are, but if you don't want all your account(s) from the IP you are on shadowbanned, you should probably stop posting as "Niko"
> since December when Blue Iguana's contract wasn't renewed.
How did this information come to light? I haven't run across it before, but then I haven't been paying much attention for quite a while now.
edit: n/m, found this for anyone else behind the times, like me.
The hunter pack is a good value, HOWEVER, both the mechs it comes with are kinda tricky to play, and are better suited to veteran players.
Bang for your buck, the best deal is still the new player bundles (https://mwomercs.com/store/bundles) especially the Urbanmech (Light) bundle. For $15 you get a very good mech, 3,000 MC (which normally costs $15 anyways), two Cbill boost items, and 30 days of premium time.
eh PSR change is determined by your win/loss and match score vs the match scores of both teams:
W*5 - 20 + 20*(0.6*(P/A) + (1-0.6)*(P/M))
W is +1 if win, -1 if loss
P is player match score
A is player team's average MS
M is average matchscore of all players
Thanks! Your fix didn't do it, but this other one did!!
Piranha had suggested that same solution, but they had neglected to mention it should be a SYSTEM variable, and that a reboot was required to make it work. The game's running fine now, and the problem seems to be the OLD version of OpenSSL the game is built with ... if only Piranha updated the game with a newer version of that library...
Oh well...
Thanks for the help, anyhow!
Did you also post your challenge to MWOMercs.com (the official forums) or was this just for the reddit folks? If you want more people to take part you could also mention it in the General chat in MWOComp discord, if ASH / the others wouldn't mind.
Maybe you'd want to also offer an additional category for something else, like most damage tanked or most components destroyed. Pure damage dealt kinda incentivises missile / inaccurate fire.
Organized play is entirely done off-platform but you can often find recruitment threads in the official forums, here, or the OutreachHPG sub.
It can take a ton of time playing before you get the hang of not just dying in the first thirty seconds, good luck :).
The new player forums are a good place to start. They have a few decent guides and players are pretty helpful to questions I had when I started.
https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/244669-new-players-start-here/
There aren't really a ton of currencies, just cbills (in-game money) and MC (you buy with real money or sometimes win). There are a couple differnt types of XP, but those all translate to skill points.
Some things that I didn't get right away was what kind of engine to buy/upgrade to, or if I should just share an engine between a few mechs (saves a lot of $$$ when you're just starting).
I'm mostly bored at work today so feel free to ask questions and I can try to help.
Thank you. I stayed away from the melodies and focused more on the drums because I thought it would appeal to a wider audience. However, I do have an older piece that is more melodic that can be found here. Is that more what you mean?
This, along with some other stat gathering websites such as: http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/http%3A%2F%2Fmwomercs.com make it painfully obvious in what direction MWO is headed.
I haven't seen any sort of stat that shows an uptick of anything... unless there was a way to measure the amount of pissed off fans or people leaving..
They individual mechs (not the whole bundle, so no warhorns) will show up for MC. Decals are I think already there?
https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/262579-solaris-7-pack-faq/
> Q: When will the Solaris 7 variants be available for purchase in-game with MC or C-Bills?
> MC Release Date: September 4th, 2018
Avoid consumables, play the events going on, and if you are really penny pinching, just get the heat (and ecm skills if you mech has it) while avoiding the rest.
If you get the 7 quick play wins going on now, you get some nice cbills. https://mwomercs.com/events/102
It can seem really tough if you have a bad build and are loosing all the time, but once you figure out the mechanics it gets better.
You need to buy a "Mech Pack". If you actually read thou the Loyalty Rewards Details it tells you what is eligible
Update:
Chris from PGI posted an announcement that this issue has been confirmed by PGI, and that a fix will be included in the September patch. :)
It's the publicly available quick play leaderboard at https://mwomercs.com/profile/leaderboards
Since PGI does not provide an api or readily downloadable file for this, I have a python script that scrapes the data page by page from there. Really the only advantage is that you can import the whole stuff into a spreadsheet program or a database and do your own calculations and follow your progress against other pilots.
I spend more time on the battletech forums cause Im banned from the PGI forums (16 times) and it wasnt my find hence why the OP link here was to the guy that discovered it lol
Be funny if someone tried to post that link on their forums. I bet it gets snipped almost as soon as you hit submit
https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/255282-so-what-is-the-story-here/page__st__40
huh guess not lol
The road map say the skill tree will drop May 16. No more buying three variants to master one.
The replacement for ghost heat (commonly but misleadingly referred to as power draw) was tested and shelved indefinitely. PGI may revisit it.

You just happen to be starting when they are giving away a free mech! I started in the centurions when I first joined the game, hope you're liking it so far!
LOL, if I could do that in-game, I would. Sometimes they really piss me off - dead whining critics can be an awful distraction. Wish we could downvote them in-game.
You will see the event on the news screen when you log on. Otherwise: https://mwomercs.com/tournaments?t=201609mechs - heavy mechs are on sale, btw.
Lastly: for every mech there is a set of skills (look under that tab in the mech lab with your mech selected). There are 8 basic and 4 elite skills, etc. See if this helps: http://mwo.gamepedia.com/Pilot_Lab

Its structure quirks are too strong. It can tank too much for a medium.
Btw if you want to buy something with real money, the upcoming Kodiak might be your best bet (40$ with masterybundle + lots of extras https://mwomercs.com/kodiak). A fast 100 ton mech with high arms and good mounts. Could be the best mech in the game. Unfortunately it comes in May. If you rather want to buy a cheap hero-mech, then wait for the right discount. La Malinche (Banshee 95t) is currently on sale. Banshee is the only one really worthwhile this sale anyway. Other than that look into this guide: http://metamechs.com/2016/02/03/the-bargain-bin-the-danger-sale/
Don't you go to the official website? The Jenner IIC package can always be bought: https://mwomercs.com/origins
Its not such great value now since you no longer get the early adopter variant with its mechbay, but $20 for 3 light mechs plus bays with one of the variants being a 'hero' with 30% bonus earnings is not too shabby.
They will be made available for MC next year on Jan 19 and for c-bills purchase on Feb 16. That's not too far away.
> So PGI stopped selling gold mechs?
Yes, they did actually. https://mwomercs.com/clans
But I can't believe you still use that as an argument. It was basically a fucking donation option for chrissake aimed at people who could afford it and wanted to support the game liberally.
Just to offer some actual clarification of what happens when the servers die. You get nothing.
>3. ALL PRODUCTS AND SERVICES PROVIDED UNDER THIS AGREEMENT ARE PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS.
But remember there is another way;
>8. IF YOU ARE DISSATISFIED WITH ANY PORTION OF THE WEBSITE, OR WITH ANY OF THIS AGREEMENT, YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY IS TO DISCONTINUE USING THE WEBSITE.
Try this. The game seems to have trouble with hyperthreading. That and/or disabling hyperthreading seems to help some.
They should. It is directly linked from their forums page down in the "MECHWARRIOR COMMUNITY ACROSS THE UNIVERSE" section.
https://mwomercs.com/community
But even so. Some people still wander in here. But it's ok. They usually get redirected pretty quickly.
I think you're actually looking for https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/162901-is-vs-clans-with-science-new-data-170714/ which has the updated data, and a lot more analysis done. It is good stuff, but does have some sample size issues. The analysis is very thorough though.
So are ppl who have gotten banned in the past going to be given a second chance with this new structure and ruleset?
Also; why is it Legendary founders arent in the "banned" group?
http://www.tiki-toki.com/timeline/entry/250736/Mechwarrior-Online-Mismanaging-Expectations
the funny thing is when we called them accountable for THEIR missed deadlines the goal posts just got moved back
http://partedveil.com/MWO/ ...and the interactive timeline version. It's only comprehensive up till not enough fucks were given to continue to document it. There's been some improvements, but pgi is still pgi and mwo is still mwo.
Name: The Art of Warfare

MWO is currently in a spin up phase within TAW so now is the time to get in on the ground floor of a division that is looking for those who value team play and communication.
Welcome Page: http://taw.net/wikis/welcome/welcome-home-page.aspx
Some side notes; Minimum age of 15 years. We have our own teamspeak server. And although we are running 12-man's regularly during practice, we are looking to make a dedicated 12-man team.
Skill points come with time.
By the way, if you just started, there is an event on that has free skill points and a free mech:
https://mwomercs.com/events/422
You have 23 days to finish, which is totally doable in your cheetah.
Well, your info is quite a bit outdated. Since October 2018, Engine DHS act exactly like External DHS and both have a heat dissipation of .22 H/s
https://mwomercs.com/game/patch-notes/2157
So no, Engine Heatsinks are not more effective than External Heatsinks.
hmnn... after rereading, I am beginning to think you may be mixed up between GSP [general skill point] and GXP [general XP]. I did before... old thread but a good read below;
https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/268395-why-is-gxp-still-in-this-game/
Colors are for all mechs. "Camo" is for one mech.
Sometimes they give us that stuff for free during events, so don't spend money on it now. It's pretty overpriced. But mechs.
If you have 10usd, buy this tournament supporter pack that's temporarily for sale right now:
https://mwomercs.com/news/2021/09/2547-tournament-supporter-pack
This new player bundle is also an insanely good deal. buy the ultimate version at the bottom if you can afford it. Buy the urbanmech if you can't.
https://mwomercs.com/store/bundles
These things are all a million times better value than the colors and camo.
Yes, so if you got to the MWO website and click on the ad for the event, it shows you where all the pages are:
https://mwomercs.com/news/2021/07/2532-mwo-beach-party-2021-july-free-mech
You grind phase 1 and then phase 2. You get your stuff on the redemption page.
The Atlas and stuff is up at the top. But the lootbags themselves are hidden at the bottom of the page. Scroll all the way down and you'll probably find you have a bunch right now.
So this is the place where you grind the lootbags:
This is the redeem page:
https://mwomercs.com/tournaments?t=202107beach
For some reason scientists still don't understand, the lootbags are hidden at the bottom of this page.
Just keep scrolling down and suddenly there will be a metric shit ton of them (probably).
Also, in case you weren't aware, in the April Patch (which I think drops on April 20th) will have the most major balance changes to this game for many years. These are changes suggested by some of the best players in the community. It has taken us years to get PGI to implement them, but they finally are doing it. There will also be a rebalance of mech sizes and some map changes in future months.
https://mwomercs.com/news/2021/04/2505-april-dev-vlog-1
But, the point is, you could not have picked a better time to come back!
Y'know, I don't run it enough to be sure, thought it was everything.
Went looking and all I could find was this from 2017 which suggests TAG, NARC, and PPCs will remove the effect...but not ECM or active probes.
The social aspects of the game are very, very poorly developed by PGI but there are recruitment threads in the forums like this one. Chatting people up in game if you like how they play (you'll see the unit tags next to their name) is somewhat useful but obviously somewhat limited. There used to be Discord servers posted, not sure where they are these days.
Trolling around in here and asking will usually eventually get you a contact.
Honestly, the unit interface and chat management is essentially nonexistent so if your unit doesn't have a discord server you should set one up (or something similar).
I apologize for the lack of good answers, but there are active units, they're just not super easy to find as a new player (which I personally think is ridiculous).
> (cant use my piranha in solaris... probably a good thing.)
You can use it, check which division that particular chassis is assigned to. It's shown in the main UI and you can also see the full chassis list here: https://mwomercs.com/s7-mech-divisions
This won't solve your problem but mwomercs.com is only the website, there's no game server using this address.
I have listed the addresses of NA and EU gameservers here :
https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/273633-checking-your-network-connection-with-the-game-servers/

VPN can help but you need to test, different VPN will use different routes.
Events seem to rotate on a weekly basis. Make sure to check the News page for new events they can be a good way to get quick C-Bills and MC. Especially if you can get some friends together and work on them as a team.

You could have just looked up your specs and compared them to the system requirements (as out of date as they are) of MWO.
That will give you a pretty good idea of if you can run it or not.
Apple products are polished crap and I refuse to use them in my house.
As an exmaple, macbooks don't have a protective cover between the keyboard and the motherboard. If you spill something on your laptop, even a little, you are much more likely to kill it than you are if you spill anything on any other laptop.
Their desktops are a pain in an enterprise environment too, ever try to map a network drive using domain level credentials on a mac? Nothing like doing it in windows, noting at all, you don't map a drive on a mac, you configure a not a shortcut (totally a shortcut) on the desktop.
And speaking of your "ecosystem" I would like to point out that you are here exactly because it does not include a game that you want to play, but are unaware that your computer in incapable of playing it.
So, referencing this: https://everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/specs/imac-core-i5-2.7-21-inch-aluminum-late-2012-specs.html
and this: https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/264802-system-requirements/
The answer is somewhere between No, and Almost.
You're assuming it's your number of wins divided by your total number of games, which is incorrect.
WLR is calculated by your number of wins divided by your number of losses.
Check your lifetime stats on https://mwomercs.com/profile/stats and your actual number of wins and losses per season on https://mwomercs.com/profile/leaderboards
Release date is still TBA on the forum post(https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/262720-flea-faq/) however each month they release the next mech in line for MC. Then the next month it will get released for CBills. I think Fafnir for MC is this month so it should be CBills next month. I don't have the list but it should be pretty straight forward if you have the list of released mechs to find out when we should expect it.
Saving everyone a search.. Not glitched. Current season and Jarl's
Make sure to check the events button at bottom of main MWO gui. If there are any events with which you could qualify (there's at least 1 open right now for everyone, possibly 2), play the game, win MC/CBILLS or whatever they're giving away. Sometimes there are events that you need to login to on your computer https://mwomercs.com/ then go to events page (right side of main page after login). You will need to claim the prizes from there (usually not but sometimes yes.) IF you don't claim something, after some time you won't be able to, so it pays to pay attention to the events.
The game will try to match players of the same(or relatively close) skill after this formula: 3 lights (20-35 tons range) - 3 mediums(40-55 tons) - 3 heavies (60-75 tons) - 3 assaults (80-100tons), known as 3/3/3/3. after 20 secs if it doesn't find a match with this restriction it will expand the tonnage. Here's a quote from the devs about how MM is working now:
>" The Match Maker is going to wait no longer than 20 seconds to come up with a 3/3/3/3 build. After that 20 seconds is up, it will INSTANTLY allow 6/6/6/6 weight class distribution and eventually widen up to 12/12/12/12 over the next 30 seconds. The Match Maker will also weight class match on both teams. If there are 6 assaults on one team, there's guaranteed to be 6 assaults on the other."
So yeah, if you're an assault in Charlie lance in solo queue, you usually only have 2 teammates of the same weight class (although, sometimes there can be as many as 5 more, hell, I saw 8 assaults once in soloQP, on either side)
