I know it’s been ages since /u/le-click began this campaign, but I finally have an answer for you. Hopefully it will be worth the wait: https://www.ageofempires.com/news/announcing-age-empires-definitive-edition/
Reminds me of the AOE2 cube mod that all of the Finnish players use.
If you're interested in learning more about the civs the official site has more details. As someone who played the beta I had a ton of fun messing around with the civ-specific mechanics.
That sounds like something different. In those quotes, they’re saying that they hired gang members to do voice work. That’s different than being a consultant.
A consultant is an expert that comes in to advise the developers on how to make the game. In this case, they probably gave more insight into how modern gangs work and help avoid inaccurate stereotypes.
For an example, I highly recommend this interview about Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition. The original release was done without a consultant, and there were many inaccuracies with how it portrayed indigenous peoples. This interview goes into some of the ways having a consultant helped them better portray them in the rerelease.
I'm not 100% on these points but I think for all of the Definitive Editions the graphics have been completely overhauled (this is good or bad depending on what you like). As well as including all dlc in one package.
Here is a link with a graphics comparison for the first game. There's probably more information somewhere on that site as well.
I dunno man, this is from the announcement "We’ve had an open beta over the past few months to identify and correct a few performance issues, and with your help we’ve managed to reduce desyncs by 90%! "
Edit: "AND we’ve added multiplayer restore back in, so if you ever DO lose a match in progress to a desync, you can get it back and pick up where you left off!" This sounds great!
As per your valuable feedback, Cavalier and Knights were removed, since they did not look much different. The mod was also split into different units. It is available as Paladin reskin and Hussar reskin. Alternatively you can search "Sauravt" in mod manager, to get both of these and also the original one (which included Knights and Cavaliers too). Subscribe at your convenience.
there are also 8 screenshots here https://www.ageofempires.com/media/?filter=aoe2de&section=screenshots
this one shows the Constantinople city of the Byzantines from the campaigns, and it looks like Byzantines got their own architecture now? (or maybe share it with the italians and portuguese) https://cdn.ageofempires.com/aoe-e3/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/ss03.png
They have an announcement/banner on top of their official site and also announced it on twitter : https://twitter.com/relicgames/status/1431046494371553284
They will probably talk about HRE/Rus mostly but it says the will take community questions. I don't think we'll get any news for beta or a real gameplay footage but let's see!
Edit: lol bots are getting wild here.
You won't ever see it again if you subscribe to this mod: https://www.ageofempires.com/mods/details/16749/
"Age of Empires II DE: No horrifying loading picture" by Newtonerdai. :-)
Nope. If they have another beta they'll probably announce it at least a few days in advance so a beta this weekend is extremely unlikely. At this point the devs have a long list of small quality of life features and other bits of polishing people would like so I'm not sure how much value there would be in having another beta -- the devs have enough on their plate as is.
The devs recently announced a series of events as part of the countdown to release and no beta is mentioned on the calendar but we can look forward to developer show matches and streamed interviews with devs every Friday. They'll also be releasing comprehensive civ overviews during this time. We can look forward to a showmatch between the HRE and English this Friday.
Rise Of The Abbasids is a fully-voiced 5-scenarios Campaign made by the Age Of Campaigns team.
the (Rise Of The Abbasids) Campaign will take you through an amazing journey to explore the 600 years long Abbasids history, the first 3 scenarios will allow you to play directly with the Abbasids and the last 2 allow you to play with their powerful vassal the, Seljuk empires
Click the link to download the Campaign
https://www.ageofempires.com/mods/details/41054/
The (Rise Of The Abbasids) Campaign has many features including:
1- 5 Scenarios.
2- Fully-voiced Campaign.
3- Slideshows with voiced narration.
4- Everything in the Campaign including the battles, characters, maps, the environment is based on real history.
5- Three difficulties for all player levels.
It's part of their Countdown to Launch event : https://www.ageofempires.com/news/start_countdown_to_launch/
They release small information, gif or video it seems everyday until countdown. Check their twitter and the recent messages : https://twitter.com/ageofempires
onight there is a HRE vs English stream.
Now why this video about the crossbow I don't know, they just made a choice among all the videos they have.
The original Age of Conquerors versions of the standard maps, in their random unbalanced glory. Only minimally edited to ensure the elevation works properly on DE. All of them use the CL (CLassic) prefix and will appear in the custom section of the maps selection screens.

I think it's is the special ability from longbowman : https://www.ageofempires.com/games/age-of-empires-iv/civilizations/english/ (scroll down)
They can protect themselves better against cavalry. It's not a cover mechanic available to all the archers in the game as far as I know.
No idea if they took this from CoH but I suppose it's not the first time a game has something similar anyway.
It's a lot harder to make a full list of what each unit says in AoE4 than in AoE2 because the languages changes as you age up:
> Each Age has its distinct style from architecture to armor, with populations speaking Old English in the Dark Age and evolving to Early Modern English by the Imperial Age.
The devs wrote about the Mexican flag on their website: https://www.ageofempires.com/news/this-historical-research-behind-the-mexico-civilization/
It seems they were just playing safe due to Mexican trademark laws?
> plus it doesn't have rank
It will, did you think it just wasn't going to be a thing? Also, the quick match ladder is available to see. So essentially yes, there IS rank. https://www.ageofempires.com/stats/ageiv/
You just want SC3, really, which is its own "brand" of RTS. I happen to think AoE4 is a fantastic RTS. A game where looking away for .5 seconds doesn't make you lose your army. It sounds like it's just not for you. Micro exists in the game. Build orders matter. Macro matters. Positioning matters. Controlling units matters.
The ranked map rotation was updated in September 7 (runestones was removed): https://www.ageofempires.com/news/rmr-20210907/
As of right now, I see the old maps. Anyone having the same?
Forgotten Empires is involved in AoE:DE and has information on their site
https://www.ageofempires.com/ is dead from all of Twitch flocking over to the site. More importantly though, apparently according to Forgotten Empires, www.ageofempires.com is hosting a closed beta. When I'm not sure, due to the site being dead...
>It’s that time again! The July update is HERE with a new seasonal event, a long list of balance changes to the civs and maps in Age II: DE, several brand-new features, and even a new battlefield where you can fight for supremacy! >
>
>
>Ranked Matchmaking updates! Separate Random Map & Deathmatch map pools; new ‘Preferred Map’ and ‘Prefer Random Civilization’ option in lobbies!
>
>Various balance changes and bug fixes to 6 civilizations and several campaigns!
>
>A long list of map improvements to over 23 maps!
>

>
>This will also be the first release where your votes helped determine the ranked map pool! Nearly 5000 votes were cast for the maps you want to see—with six emerging victorious to join the 1v1 and Team Game map pools:
We don't know. Today is their start of their countdown to release and they have streams planned : https://www.ageofempires.com/news/start_countdown_to_launch/
Another beta is still possible but less likely I guess with that countdown event.
Really depends how much the items from the Deluxe version are worth to you. There is no special access or huge reward for the Deluxe Edition if this is what you are asking.
You have to choose between 2 landmarks for each age up (so far we only know a few of them) then build it with villagers. Each landmark has some kind of bonus.
Chinese have to choose too but they can then build their second age up landmark to enter a dynasty.
Abbasids do not have landmarks, they are special and use the wings of the House of Wisdom. Check this thread for more info about it.
I would like to bring to everyone's attention that while this is funny, it is may be misleading to those who are unaware. AOE:DE will be released much sooner than the end of next year.
Here is what the website says about this date: > Please note that the Windows Store page for Age of Empires: Definitive Edition is currently listing the planned release date as 12/31/2018. This is a placeholder, and does not reflect our target release date.
Here is what they say about the actual release date: > We don’t have a final release date to share quite yet, but are targeting early 2018.
There isn't as far as I know. Here is still the best place but yeah you have to go through a lot of threads to find some information, it's all over the place.
EDIT: There is this wiki : https://ageofempires.fandom.com/wiki/Age_of_Empires_IV
The official site is also good for the civs : https://www.ageofempires.com/games/age-of-empires-iv/civilizations/

Any news on the definitive edition of aoe2?
> Nope
Will it be a windows 10 exclusive?

Will it feature all civs from HD?

And is there a way of subscribing to news of aoe 2 HD?

Hi there! I'm a Community Coordinator for Age of Empires, and since we saw that some people were wanting this as a wallpaper we decided to make it happen! You can find a hi-res version in the wallpaper section here on our website: https://www.ageofempires.com/media/
OH, I am honestly just trained to answer questions straight because I am legitimately asked all the time if the remaster will have actually have multiplayer. I get all kinds of questions like these for Aoe2 HD as well. Some people don't actually know! :O With Matt Pritchard and Rich Geldreich on the team, I am quite hopeful but of course I will need to try the online play soon to see how it feels. You can also sign up for the Beta here: https://www.ageofempires.com/age-insider-information/
We don't know, they didn't said announce anything about this.
If you want to see mongols you can in 2 and half hours here : https://www.twitch.tv/ageofempires
Casted showmatch mongols vs Abbasids. Others streams with French, Delhi and Rus are also already planned : https://www.ageofempires.com/news/start_countdown_to_launch/
They will let the community know at least a month in advance when the challenge will end.
https://www.ageofempires.com/news/aoe3de-update-23511/#spotlight_us-unlock-event
The only one that worked for me is the exponential tech mod, which avoids the crashes exactly by not needing to research so many times for similar effect.
Pra quem está fora do loop, o link do OP foi a própria conta do BG quem linkou o cara, então ele tem uma participação nisso.

Estou correto OP? teu post ficou meio vago.
Not across any mode, for a specific mode. So 10 games in 1v1 for example. Or 10 games in 2v2.
Then you can look up on the ladder:
Having the big button in age2 means your game is properly updated; that's where it's currently supposed to be after the Inca rework. You can read about the Inca changes here.
100.12.47581.0 is indeed the latest stable version.
That is a garbage take and you know it. If you'd bothered to read instead of making up pretend facts as you go. You would've known the reason for the English and Chinese being in the test, OP stated as much aswell.
"Balance work. For those that joined us, you will notice additional balance work that’s gone into both the English and Chinese civilizations."
I know that we're talking about official campaigns but I just wanted to give a shout out to this custom campaign to
Its has a nice story about harald hardrada (viking campaign) and it's fun, just saying :-)
You will regret missing all the live action of NAC3 which is going on over the next week.
More info: https://www.ageofempires.com/news/nac3-tournament/
Twitch Channel: https://m.twitch.tv/nili_aoe/profile?desktop-redirect=offline_channel
And you get to see Daut and top pros live (or stream after each day if you cant catch it live.
I have zero stake in this but I regretted missing it live last year. Also, 90% of the memes over the next month will come from this event.
You can upload and download custom maps from the official Age of Empires website.
https://www.ageofempires.com/mods/
You may also want to look at the Age Knights Clan map collection.

Any maps created for the original release will work with DE.
In honor of what I have unilaterally declared to be r/aoe4 Mongol Week, I have posted this excellent music video for all your future pillaging needs. Please consider voting for Mongols in this week's civ poll: https://www.ageofempires.com/news/abbasid-dynasty-mongol-poll/ .
All my homies want to learn more about Mongols in aoe4.
They have be so silent that it's no wonder some people might think there are only 6 civs but they revealed the name of the last two civs officially at E3 and updated the civs pages too : https://www.ageofempires.com/games/age-of-empires-iv/civilizations/
We should finally get a reveal (with a trailer) on Rus and HRE during Gamescom, maybe during the Xbox stream on the 24th and hopefully they'll update their site too.

Yeah I checked the official patch notes and they said melee armor only.
For whatever reason in my mind it included pierce armor too.
Even the wiki patch notes say it includes pierce, which just reinforced that (false) idea in my head.
It's true. Good news is that the devs have announced they're working on fixes. > This is a prominent issue with several different fixes in the works. We’ve heard you and will be implementing updates as soon as we’re confident in them!
MS confirmed that definitive editions of all three AoE games are coming. They mentioned it last week when they announced them for Steam. Here's the blog post.
> In addition, we want you to be able to enjoy these games no matter where you play. By releasing Age of Empires I, II, and III: Definitive Editions to Steam, we are letting you, our fans, decide where you want to play, explore, and create new experiences with our games.
I appreciate the feedback (and the suggestion to visit Poland ofc), both shorefish and the tiny stone island of Bornholm has been added; the island should also pose as an interesting strategical point if you build some towers on there.
I have added the map itself without structures and players (without Bornholm & the shore fish as well unfortunately, as I added that later) onto the mod page on Age of empires. I will release a final version of the map as I still have some bugs to iron out, but should be available soonish - hopefully I will have some time this week!
Try searching for "The Rus," rather than "Russia." Here is the basic overview page on the official website.
You can see some of what is described on that page and more in action in this HRE vs. Rus showmatch.
Moscow was sacked by Mongols in 1238 (can be found in ru Wikipedia). Which fits the narrative of: "Hardened by devastating invasions, political instability, and bitter winters, the Rus were built for survival" (https://www.ageofempires.com/games/age-of-empires-iv/civilizations/rus/).
It is possible in scenarios (and, by the looks of it, will be possible in random map scripts as well once the next patch is released).
You can probably grab the scenario with the size and team distribution that you like from my Forest Nothing 256x Tech mod (https://www.ageofempires.com/mods/details/22022/), open it in the scenario editor, regenerate the map from the map script of your choice (the triggers that do the magic will be untouched by this), and then play that new scenario against the AI.
Well, they are fixing TG Elo: https://www.ageofempires.com/news/rankedtg-update-5-2021/ I wonder if ratings will be reset as right now the rating distribution is so messed up,
As a reminder, please remember that all participants in the beta have agreed to an NDA upon sign-up and should not be discussing aspects of the beta outside of our closed forums. Please feel free to continue this discussion on the linked forums.
> Easier process to upload to Steam Workshop.
There is no Steam Workshop support for Aoe2 DE. :'(
Mods will be hosted instead on ageofempires.com. Hopefully the website receives a complete overhaul before it is used for mods.

Hi there! This appears to be a modded dataset, specifically "9x Civ bonuses UT and EUU by Overconfidence" (you can check the mod name at the top-right, "Dataset", in your list of recorded games as well as lobbies that you join). Games using UGC appear with the star icon in the lobby list. The host seems to have indicated the mod correctly in the lobby title.

Make sure you have at least 10 matches or else you wont have an ELO yet.
Im not sure if you need 10 matches overall or 10 matches in an specific gamemode (1v1)
Everything from the closed beta is under NDA for now so I can't really comment further. Anyways, it'll be shown in a showmatch vs the Abbasids in October 8.
Glad to be of help.
The original announcement page has the time window listed.
>Age of Empires IV Technical Stress Test from Friday, September 17th, at 10 a.m. PT through Monday, September 20th, at 10 a.m. PT!
You are giving them too much credit for their understanding of timing / coordination with RB. I'd be surprised if them sneaking that phrase in is due to Microsoft telling them rather their internal plan / will. If they are planning to make more AoE2 content and wanted to make it known they wouldn't be shushed by Forgotten Empires, this is Redbull.
I can however imagine that they want to see how AoE4 fares, probably throw in another $50/100k into a tourney once the game settles some (with the leeway not to if it flops), while also maximizing hype for RBW5 and giving them slack to come back to AoE2 (if it gets thru AoE4 unscathed) with a few more twists up their sleeve (RM or new non-EW (dark age 8/12 pop EW, please oh pretty please?)).
I can also imagine that they are simply done with AoE2 and will retire from the franchise. "Wololo" has to be the most iconic AoE sound and they'll have associated their brand with it for a long time as it is. (I'm not a marketer but) The job is kind of done, for $212k (+ admin fees + WB5 production - other sponsors' money) RedBull will remain on AoE players' mind to some extent over this game, probably for a while over however many people watched any of these tournaments. I do hope for the come back AoE2 tournament series, I also hope RedBull goes public.

I just got in. There was no mail (yet) so login and check on https://www.ageofempires.com/insiders.
Sadly I got the Microsoft version and I hate these Apps a lot. Of course the download doesn't work there.

I never tried it, i just was seeing it in the mod section, because i was browsing through every site there, since the civ builder entries are spamming the mod section, what makes it hard to find good mods.

Yes, I searched for custom campaigns too.
Found on ageofempires.com Mods => Brobse mods => Select Aoe2 DE and "Campaigns"
Also it's useful to opan them from ingame AoE2 menu. On the similar way Menu => button "Mods" and select
That's how it was, yes. Update 5208 back in November made them a bit worse:
> Added an 0.5x Cavalry and Shock Infantry multiplayer to the Li’l Bombard’s “Cannon Attack.” This should allow the unit to perform similarly to other artillery when upgraded, such as when The Mercenary Contractor (V) politician is selected.
The card got removed due to how defensive it was allowing the civ to be. It allowed the civ to be so defensive to the point of other players just quitting right away when you got dance + Stronghold
Here is the link to those patch notes: https://www.ageofempires.com/news/aoe3de-update-6159/
I thought I had provided an explanation of this video but it did not show up for some reason.
This is the change that has messed up the AI.
"Increased the radius in which Settlers will seek out and collect their respective resources to prevent them from idling when uncollected resources are within view."
https://www.ageofempires.com/news/aoe3de-update-6159/
First, I noticed that my villagers would finish gathering coin and then walk to the next coin mine without regard of distance. So for example, if the villager AI felt like crossing the map to the enemy town to gather coin, it would do so. I lost many villagers when I was engaged in fights, because the villagers would automatically move around the map. Mindlessly. (you know? A mindless AI hahaha). But I digress.
So the enemy AI had the same issue. Their villagers would cross the map to try to gather resources on my side of the map. I noticed many enemy villagers just suiciding to my army.
The weirdest issue that I observed is that the enemy AI did not know how to respond to the new AI change. The villagers would sometimes just move to the middle of the map and then back to their base. In a loop.
Some of the villagers would just stop in the middle of the map and not move at all. If you see at the minimap, the coin mines of the enemy AI had not been mined.
I wanted to make more short videos about this issue but the game crashed a minute after I recorded this one.
I will firmly say that I am against the AIdea :) of making everything automated in game. I understand that the developers are trying to make it easier for new players, however, the changes they make alter the way the game was meant to play by Ensemble Studios. It is also horrible to be constantly returning your villagers back to your base when they walk around the map for no reason.
for anyone interested I went ahead and uploaded this terrain pack to the aoe2 DE mod site, and it should be gettable in game (just search for 'lego' in mods) https://www.ageofempires.com/mods/details/2732
Both enhanced graphics and standard terrain gfx should be supported.
It has a built in grid for those that like grid mods. I originally made one tile as an experiment but found it oddly enjoyable to play using the textures, so did basically a full conversion.
You're right except for this part: > Aoe3 DE tho might have it, just like the two others DE.
None of the DEs have Steam workshop, and I would be surprised if AoE3DE did have it. Mods for DEs are handled in a different way through ageofempires.com website.

This applies to all pre-order customers going forward, as well as any refunded customers who confirm their pre-orders.
Are you going to be on the gamescom ?
There seem to be an/several AoE events... But I am sure when and what exactly. The official webpage says something about starting August 21. but Gamescom does only start one day after?
Does anyone know anything clearer?
"The largest possible map size in the limits of the Genie Engine (the game engine that AoK is based on) that is playable is 255x255, which is only slightly larger than the "Giant" size in the editor. Ludikris map size is 4x that, so 510x510. That's massive- a max amount of 260,100 tiles as opposed to 65,025"

>Most pros and high ELO players have over 500 matches.
High ELO players definitely don't have over 500 matches.
Most are at 50-100 matches right now.
Sorry, they're the same person but the username changed over the years and I'm not sure if all the mods he's uploaded (and they're a blast to play) can be found with just one. The Last Romans, Komnenos - The Byzantine Restoration, and Vandals - Destroyers Of Rome should be rather satisfying for you. Ixnay on the last one, you play as the Goths there.
Edit: He and BassiAOC are also official aoe2 developers. They made some of the new campaigns and remastered some of the classics.
From the July update patch notes:
“To make it easier to find nearby games, when using the Sort by Server option, servers sort by ping instead of alphabetically.” So you should be able to apply your other filters and then sort by server. Now if you want to sort by something like map and server then hopefully one will restrict the other enough to be able to find what you are looking for

They made a leaderboard but it only shows the top 200 (and sometimes takes ages to update anyway). No communication if that's by design or they will let everyone see. We know ranked is coming next year sometime with presumably better support for ladders and elo etc.
currently "ranked" is same as previously:
quickplay is based on elo and leaderboards can be found at https://www.ageofempires.com/stats/ageiv filters: Global -> Players -> Quick Match -> 1v1 for example
Season based ranked system will be available later
Isgreen talks about it here as well as the planned Spring update which will add seasons.
Right now on the official site you can go to community -> stats to view your personal stats as well as the top players in each Age game.
unfortunally there are not such thing and technically we aren't allowed to talk about the content in the closed beta, but if you played the stress test you know how the base tech tree looks like and you can read their bonuses in the official website https://www.ageofempires.com/games/age-of-empires-iv/civilizations/delhi-sultanate/ (don't tell anybody but the way that their Scholar mechanic works is that you need nine to reach the research speed of the other civs)
The Age of Empires IV Technical Stress Test is OPEN TO ALL from September 17th – September 20th*. Ready yourself for :crossed_swords: war :crossed_swords:!!*

Im basically just trying to play this: https://www.ageofempires.com/games/age-of-empires-iv/
My current system ran the Beta fine, with a bit of choppy rendering in max out situations. But, it looks like the DirectX requirement is moving to 12, while I think the Beta build was fine with 11
Invites have started rolling out at as of 10AM Pacific! Please make sure to check your spam folders in case you did not get the invite. You can check if you are in by logging into your Age Insider profile and clicking here: https://www.ageofempires.com/insiders#Cardinal\_Flt\_CBST1
If it makes you feel better, I've created a mod with the goal of redoing the Lakota with actual Lakota names and a new voice-over. Probably won't be done for another few months, but here's the link to my mod in its current state if you wanna fuck around with it.
This would also make it easier to set direct hotkeys instead of slecting eco menu or selecting military menu.
current default hot keys
select villager -> Q -> Q build house
select villager -> A -> Q build Barracks
with no split in eco and militairy buildings
select villager -> Q build house
select villager -> Y build Baracks (or some other key)

mod I use (https://www.ageofempires.com/mods/details/15650/) such a small feature but very usefull for beginners
Yeah the wording is interesting but we can only speculate.

They also have a landmark that acts as a market and builds faster and cheaper traders. They might get a strategy to play an eco game instead of being a rusher/heavy attack civ.
I feel like the whole market/traders/trade carts is important for the gameplay and it should theoretically be an important part of the gameplay and map control. Mongols could be really strong with their raids to deny the map control and any market activity to their enemy while setting up a huge trade for themselves. A trade boosted by one of their bonus. But let's not forget that the leak is not official and also that a lot of things can be changed, reworked until the game comes out for balance reasons.
DE has had over 133,000 individual changes and additions over the old legacy game, just on release alone: https://www.ageofempires.com/news/aoe3de-baseline-update/
That means it is absolutely not possible to play these two games together; they are very different.
It would be probably best for you all to get the much cheaper DE remaster. It costs about half as much as the legacy game (or even less for those who own the legacy game already), and it's, well, remastered. DE is what the devs are supporting and where new content is being developed. It also includes two new civs (Inca, Sweden), several new singleplayer missions and other stuff.
Lmao not exactly, but it does have it's own situation for sure. I'll leave the quote and link as to not misrepresent; draw your own conclusions.
>“I think a game can have Crazy Horse in it, but it has to be done right: with great care, thought, and research from the beginning…not just in how he is represented, but also with the kind of context the game creates. In this case, it just didn’t seem very dignifying for someone of his standing. I would also add that if you wanted to depict Crazy Horse, you should reach out to his maternal family to get permission.”

I have published my scenario map. If you are interested, you can take a look at the link below:
> Can someone share a quick reference guide or "cheat sheet"? I check the tech tree before games but I don't always gather this type of info.
If you are not in a hurry, your best bet would be checking the coded in-game stats using Advanced Genie Editor, though it would require some getting used to. I've also updated Jineapple's "cheat sheet" for DE some time ago.
But if you are in a game (i. e., need a fast way to access such an info), I think that AoE Wiki articles or Improved Extended Tooltips mod (the latter modifies in-game descriptions) should be rather convenient means of accessing such an info. (Both should be up-to-date.)
