Check it out. There is a trial version! I like the organization, auto-taging. Actually I like all features and small gem features.
Just scroll here and check all the features https://en.eagle.cool
PS: I'm not affiliate with this company.
well i'm not sure if this Eagle tool help
tho it doesn't really support ai tagging just yet( recognize animal... and stuff ), but it can help you auto tag bunch of selected files all at once to make your digital life a bit easier and more productive too
Not sure if Eagle is what you are looking for? https://en.eagle.cool/
Eagle it's a desktop-based file management tool that can easily sync through the cloud and provide tagging and annotations. You can categorize assets (image/videos/gifs/audios/docx...etc) across different dimensions very easily (e.g., by platform, by subject, by style, by shape, by color etc.), and can easily create custom queries, smart folders, auto-import and even use your tag label to create a custom folder (e.g. one photo with two different tags can appear in different tag folders without duplicating and taking two spaces, which is extremely thoughtful),also it can identify same photos or alike photos in case you shot too many pictures this helps you save storage as well.
just that it's going to be your own library/structure so setting up needs quite some time but once you get used to it its very useful and intuitive when organizing photos.
non-subscription pricing is a huge factor when I decide to use them. also, beautiful interface is a plus too
hope this helps

not sure if this tool called Eagle helps, as it only supports the desktop version. However, it does great at organizing all your videos/photos/audios...etc
you can tag each photo and arrange them with your own structures, basically is like your own library!
try Eagle it suits your need and more.
I believe Eagle may be the one you are looking for? finding files and organizing are super easy! it allows to preview many formats directly and support cross-reference structure without getting lost in all the master folders.
It's great for solo users but make sure you have enough storage space as it took up quite a space in your PC. could consider sync it with cloud to solve this
have you tried Eagle? it matches every requirement you are looking for.
Eagle is a local-based digital assets management tool made for designers. but personally, i think anyone works with visuals would love it. It offers a centralized structures system for your files just like Evernote, Bear and Notion.
- Can set default folders to watch.
- It's a local-based software, therefore, no sign-in requirements.
- Keyword search:
1) supports searching all letters of image name: it would give you suggestion keyword when you input any letter.
2) supports fuzzy keyword search to predict the input text in the search bar. For example:
-> If you want to find "Music Player", you can enter "mpy" or "mer" to find it.
-> If you want to find "Design Pattern", you can enter "dpn" or "desip" to find it.
- Support searching tags like in Evernote, blogs
I think tag is no doubt one of its best features so far in Eagle, apart from tag it also gives you tag group. It would be useful once the number of your tag has increased.
- Supports Searching using metadata like the title
- live preview possibilities
not sure what exactly is this but to my understanding, Eagle support previewing 80+ formats and it provides 4 different preview mode/layout.
Overall, no complain so far. Definitely is the alternative to Adobe Bridge, please try and thank me later ;)
Met Eagle and was in love with it ever since. incredible speed, better features and wonderful UI. Just that the downside with Eagle is that media files need to be imported to the Eagle library. However, it can be solved through cloud sync.
farewell adobe bridge!
maybe Eagle is the one you are looking for?
Powerful tag features to easily cross-reference files (e.g. one file with two different tags can appear in different tag folders without duplicating and taking two spaces, which is extremely thoughtful) and you can categorize files across different dimensions very easily (e.g., by platform, by subject, by style, by shape, by color, by rating, by size etc.), it provides thumbnail preview for most of the file formats, best of all neat UI!
I've found it to be very useful in managing my workflows and optimizing my project process. Its like your own library with your own structures systems.
if you have many visual files then you can try Eagle. its powerful with many tricks. you can preview most of the file formats without having to open other software that clutters your desktop.
Personally and professionally I work with lots of media (images, videos, design files..etc), which requires a lot of visual processes.
Apart from storing files with cloud which is easier and never have to carry them around. I also integrate cloud with this tool called Eagle. Throughout the years i found it to be the best well-crafted tool to help manage all the digital files visually and its structure is robust, intuitive and fast.
If you are a heavy user with images or anything visual please give it a try
I use Eagle app for organizing basically everything! If you not only want to organize Notes, but also images, sounds, films, documents, etc. Eagle is the most complete organizational tool out there.
This is not an affiliate link nor anything, just recommending it because it's the best I have found and save me tones of management work :)
For free software maybe try Tiat? or references.design? Though Eagle is still the best among them.
some other apps to consider:

anyway, I found it to be fast, productive and useful for my personal and work projects, its beautiful interface is a plus too
hope its not too late to help!
not sure what kind of file formats you are talking about here.
if you want to combine both of them maybe you'll like to use a third party management tool that works on desktop and sync with cloud?
if you ask for a tool recommendation try Eagle, a tool that best suits every format and its interface its easier and intuitive too
hope you find it helpful

please also take a look at their tagging feature which I think you'll definitely need.
hope its not too late to help
tbh i think this is more than enough for most people as you are using different external drives to back up your files.
not sure if your are asking to help you to organize all together in one place or minimize the storage which I think it's impossible cuz the original file 50G is the most important so I doubt there's a way to do it
if you are looking a way to organize everything all in one place I recommend this tool called Eagle you may create different library to help you find your files easily across different dimensions or if you have one file that belongs to two different folders you may uses its tag features to create a customer folder which will help you save storage drastically and a lot easier to find your files too!
i use Eagle
you can rename lots of files at the same time with just right-click
also, its an awesome tool to organize all your files with its tagging and other great features
looks like you wanted to build a library of your own.
i'm not sure if this tool called Eagle is what you are looking for?

I've found it to be very useful in managing my workflows and optimizing my project process. also, beautiful interface is a plus too

(e.g. one file with two different tags can appear in different tag folders without duplicating and taking two spaces, which is extremely thoughtful)
most importantly with this tool, searching the file is fast and intuitive it saves me lots of time and I'm more productive towards my workflows.

depends on how many files you have
if you have every little you may use YYYY-MM-DD
if you want to be more specific you may add the event names like
YYYY_MM_DD_Event_ image01
YYYY_MM_DD_Event_ videos01
or if you want to categorize with a tool you may use this management tool called Eagle
just organize with tags and it will save you lots of trouble doing the management
i recommend using Eagle.
it helps you manage literally every format.and help you categorize automatically.
just give it a tag and next time when you want to look up for it just search for the tag and filtered with it ( can be filtered by platform, by subject, by style, by shape, by color, by rating, by dates.. etc.)

If you are lazy like me and sick of sorting files in hierarchies, you may try Eagle. https://en.eagle.cool/ it helps me organize files ALL in one place with its tagging and annotation features.
For example, I have a lot of projects with different files, I name them all by Project names (project A_01, project B_01....), and with Eagle, I can give them a tag like thumbnails, transitions, subscription button...etc. So in the future when I want to compare all the Thumbnails I just filter them by the tag that I just set. finding files is easier than in Finder and its visual interface is also pleasing just like your own library.
Well... it does more than its tagging feature, it can also bookmark other YouTubers' links for inspiration.. etc. it's a must-have for all the creators out there!
I use Eagle to organize all the assets, create a tag to label each file, the best part is that it can label as many tags as you want on each file. So for example when I'm looking for a specific button like "repeat" all the related tags will appear. Their visual interface and speed are better than finder. hope this helps
me and my colleagues use Eagle, it's very useful in managing our workflows and optimizing the process for storing and annotating the files. Their UI is very pleasing as well which is a plus

try this tool Eagle ? a powerful management tool on PC for organizing files/photos/audios/videos. You can categorize photos across different dimensions very easily (e.g., by platform, by subject, by style, by shape, by color etc.), and can easily create custom queries.
1. since Eagle can sync with google maybe you'd like to reverse the photos in google then sync to Eagle and save locally.
not sure if this helps
maybe you'd like to try Eagle? https://en.eagle.cool/ can easily sync through the cloud and provide tagging and annotations.
its tagging interface (with tag groups) is extremely thoughtful — you can categorize assets across different dimensions very easily (e.g., by platform, by subject, by style, etc.). beautiful UI as well.
Maybe if you wanna try Eagle? https://en.eagle.cool/
It's a powerful management tool for photo tagging and does image annotation. Not sure if it supports facial recognition yet but the can recognize colors/shapes.

I've found that one of the most useful things is a tool called Eagle where it helps me organize/archive/browse photos ALL in one place. https://en.eagle.cool/
Just drag all your photos inside Eagle, it will automatically notify you if there's more than one picture alike, which helps you save space for accidental duplicates or for your crazy similar photos.
I like how it helps you find n tag photos according to dates, sizes or even colors. so for example when you want to look for a specific date, just click the filter dates then you may rename all the photos according to your own naming systems by just giving it a right-click. which is really thoughtful. it's very similar to MacOS photo but with tags and your own library system. hope it helps.

it not only does best at organizing the image like jpg/png it can also help organize audios/videos. I especially like its tagging/filter features. it really helps a lot when comes to organizing/archiving/browsing photos.

Personally, I use Eagle a powerful management tool for organizing my design files ALL in one place. it supports both MacOS/Windows and files stores locally.
You can sort files by giving them tags and in different folders too! so for your situation, you may want to tag them with project names like what askbenb mentioned, and if A files involves in more than ONE project you can give it different tags and save it in different folders! this way you can organize, search and browse through hundreds of items easily.
Also, what I like about it is that you can categorize assets across different dimensions very easily (e.g., by platform, by subject, by style, etc.). i think it will help your company when it comes to organizing design files!
i believe Eagle is the best alternative tool for photo management at the moment. it supports tagging features just like digikam with a more pleasing UI and more features.
Lovely features that you may like about Eagle: support lots of format, files auto-import, tagging, and can easily create custom queries, smart folders, and even sort traditional folders that are actually another type of tag. In short, you will be able to find what you're looking for even in a season of tens of thousands of assets. You will find that you'll be done away with nest folder structures.
The only difficulty I foresee is that you'll have to start your own way of structure and tagging system which may also be something exciting haha and Eagle use up your desktop space so I recommend sync it with a cloud service.
I recommend Eagle. works on both macOS/windows.
It has a browser plugin (Safari/chrome/Edge/firefox), supports lots of files including audio/ video, you can add your tags and keywords to the file itself to make it a lot easier to find and browse. It also got other different filter options too.
No subscription fee, a one-time payment is a plus for purchasing decision.
