Shotcut >Shotcut is a free, open source, cross-platform video editor. > supports many image formats such as BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, SVG, TGA, TIFF as well as image sequences
The fades to black during the claps aren't terribly good for comfort. Makes for an uncomfortable "Did I just blink?" feeling.
The slowmo shot at 1:03 isn't great. Your cameras frame rate isn't set high enough for that shot to slow-mo and not turn into a slideshow. For slowmo you generally want a lot of frames to half. So for example if you have 60 FPS you can halve the frame rate and it still look good and slowmotion-y, you can also then halve it again to 15 and it'll look OK. but try that with 30 FPS footage and it's going to start looking like a slideshow real quick. Which you do not want for an action video.
An alternative to the software you're using is http://www.shotcut.org/ which is free and pretty kicking if you ask me.
There's also no mention of the song in your description.
I like the video, the length is in the sweet spot for entertainment.
I feel there's a few shots that you missed though, like at the dock POV and then the 'ride' starting would've made things a little less same-y though.
[](/twixiecuddle) )I hear a friend of mine used Shotcut before. Dunno how it is, but looks promising!)
Well, happiness begets happiness, so I hope that me being more happy can in turn (even if it's just a little bit) make you, my mother, and a buncha other people on the internet a bit more happy!
But, I should stop rambling. I gotta wake up in 4 hours! I'll talk to you later, hun. I hope you have the sweetest dreams.~
Shotcut. I'm not entirely correct in saying that it can't handle 1080p (it can handle 4k), but it crashes whenever I try to process videos with a large number of cuts and edits from a 1080p source.
For Video Shotcut, still very young, but a promising video editor and it's cross platform. random article
You could try Shotcut. I haven't used it myself, but I have a friend who has and she seems happy with it and best of all it's free and open source.
In terms of sounds, try searching CC0 sounds in your search engine.
There is also some great cheap/free music on bandcamp.com
Try using a custom font and overlay it over a combo you like, people know it's a combo video from the start simply by the title of it.
if you were using windows movie maker, try a free program such as shotcut. It's more powerful than windows movie maker, has a better UI, and you can do more with it such as include HTML and insert your own fonts. it takes a while to learn but once you get the hang of it you'll be able to make even better videos.
Here's two options. The first would be to try running an older version of Premiere with Wine, see this link for the compatibility.
An open source option might be Shotcut, in my opinion, it's one of the best video editor on linux beside Lightworks.
There is a program I used time to time, it's called Avidemux. It's cross-platform, and it has some useful functions, but it's a little bit outdated, and it isn't the most user-friendly (it isn't a timeline-based editor). Or if you want to try something timeline-based there is Shotcut, an open-source program I've used. It's buggy sometimes, but it gets updated every month, and I think it's starting to become a really good alternative for Vegas. I hope it will be more stable for everybody in the next year. But like others have said, there isn't really a powerful, yet free video editor on windows. Kdenlive and Openshot (what Leo has mentioned) are worth looking into.
HitFilm 3 Express is kinda nice. Free stripped version of their full software, with lots of add-ons or goodies to purchase.
ShotCut is a free open-source video editor, using FFMpeg, so it can read/write most any format. Still getting used to it but it seems nice.
Last software I used was VideoPad which offered a free (non-commercial) version for a while. Then they removed the free version, and had a demo which could let you downgrade to free when you went to uninstall. I haven't had to reinstall in a while so I don't know what the current state of the free version is.
Check this out. There are several basic transitions, and you can add more via plugins. There are also video effects, like the video inside video thing that people with facecam do. I don't know anymore off the top of my head, but it defiantly has more features than WMM. The fact that you can only have one "music" track in WMM made it really annoying to use.
Just found this program that I haven't tried yet but ShotCut should be able to handle AVCHD and looks to be a more powerful and comprehensive editing platform than movie maker.
