I'm so proud of you for making it through this first day. It will get easier with effort and time but you might feel like you have an urge to go back. If you fall you can always get back up you haven't failed just because you slipped.
There is an app called, Calm Harm I found out about a month ago. It helps you resist sh urges via distraction and other methods. I'm linking it so you can try it out and see if it helps you. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.org.stem4.calmharm
Since this is a form of self harm, distracting yourself could be best. Many recommend meditating, however it's difficult to get the hang of it, so here is an app that can help: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.org.stem4.calmharm I hope things get better for you. Try not to go to bed angry ♥️
I use calmharm for selfharm.
I use it a little different then its meant to I just do 1 exercise of eitherv15 orv5 min before I cut wich makes it so that with small urges i wont think it's worth it going trough the time to complete one of the assignments so I wont cutt. And with bigger urges it makes it so I have less time to cut before I got to go or something like that.
Its meant to be used in a way that you keep going until you dont want to cutt anymore that's why when it asks have your urges passed there is not a button wich says quitt or a cross to stop the exercise -you can back out with the buttons on the bottom of your phone those still show up- just yes or no.
It's not the best not even close but it's the one I use.

Yes available for android. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.org.stem4.calmharm My psychiatrist is Dr. Constantine Della clinic at westgate alabang, perpetual hospital las piñas and PGH. I was prescribed Lexapro (escitalopram) for depression. Same that my doctor in Canada prescribed. He also added Abilify (aripirazole) , then evetually was changed to abilify and cymbalta(duloxetine). I think because eventually naging walang effect sakin uung lexapro. I was also prescribed Rivotril(clonazepam) but only as a take as needed basis when i cant sleep due to anxiety. He gave me rin a doctors note to apply for PWD since meds and consultation are expensive. He also recommended a psychologist for added therapy. The psychologist he referred didn't work out for me I didnt feel heard during sessions. Instead I went to Dr. Melodee Rojas sa Asian, I was comfortable with her but one session lang because I found it was too expensive na rin to add a psychologist and at that time I was getting better already with the meds. I was 6 years with meds, eventually it was stopped last year and I am symptom free since then. Sessions with Dr. Della are 30 mins to an hour depends on what is needed. Also would help if you have a support group. I couldnt tell my family I self harmed. I was worried it would scare them. Also I was ashamed. But i have a friend i confided with who i know wont judge. It would tell him whenever it is getting worse. My thinking is someone at least one must know, in case it gets dangerous so he can sound the alarm and call for help when needed.

Hi all, I wanted to add this link in as well, it’s an app for battling self harm and it has helped me detrimentally.
Apple: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/calm-harm-manages-self-harm/id961611581
Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.org.stem4.calmharm&hl=en_US
For anyone that might be struggling there are apps on both Android and iOS to help. On mobile so excuse shitty links.

Here, try this. It's intended for those who struggle with self harm, but it's useful for anyone who struggles with destructive thoughts - which is something you do and something I used to do.
Hey! I was recommended this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.org.stem4.calmharm&hl=en
It's free and it works. But you'll have to push yourself. If you're strong enough to get over the thought that all that's in this app sounds like bullshit, it will work. I thought it was bullshit at the beginning as well, but even just doing the breathing exercise will shift your focus. I hope you'll be fine!
it's called Calm Harm! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.org.stem4.calmharm

Hey there,
I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing distress intense enough to cause you to self-injure. We're sorry but our subreddit doesn't allow the discussion of self-harm as it may be triggering for others.
That being said I've linked you some resources below :)
The skills you should be using are distress tolerance.
Use Distress Tolerance skills until you can get to a more calm place where you can use problem-solving skills to make a plan for yourself going forward. That may be coping, that may be looking at triggers, that may be removing yourself from a toxic situation.
You can also use a free app, called Calm Harm by Stem4. Calm Harm provides tasks to help you resist or manage the urge to self-harm.
You may also find further support on Reddit from /r/selfharm, https://www.reddit.com/r/selfharm/wiki/index, /r/SuicideWatch, or r/SWResources/.
I advise you to speak to a therapist or your family doctor as soon as you are able to get additional support and assistance.
If cost is preventing you from seeking help, check out our list of free/low-cost health and mental health resources.
If you feel that you are going to act further on self-harm impulses, please go to your nearest Emergency Department, or call a crisis line.
Please take care of yourself! 💕
Hey there,
I'm sorry to hear that you are struggling with these feelings. hugs They can be very difficult to cope with.
/r/Dbtselfhelp does not allow the discussion of self-harm or suicidal ideation as it may be triggering for others so I can't approve your post.
That being said, the skills that you want to use are Distress Tolerance skills, otherwise known as crisis survival skills. You can also check out the information below.
If you have practiced the Distress Tolerance skills listed and they are not helping, if you feel that you might act on these thoughts that you are having, I suggest that you immediately seek help at your local Urgent Care/Emergency Room, or call a crisis hotline until you can check in with a mental health professional or even your regular family doctor to discuss.
If cost is a barrier to you seeking assistance, please check out our list of free/low-cost mental health resources. Please be aware these are not for crisis situations.
Please take care of yourself and remember to HOPE, (Hang On, Pain Ends... trite but it is true.. life changes and situations change)

This is a pretty triggering subject, and as such, we'll be watching the thread closely.
We ask that everyone remain civil and nonjudgemental of the people posting in here.
For those of you who self injure but are looking to stop, you can find some alternatives here. There is also a free app called Calm Harm, available for both apple and android.

Dude, it'll be ok. If you need somebody to talk to, PM me.
Hey! Funnily enough, I'm in a similar boat and made this account/came to this thread just to ask about it. I was diagnosed with depression as a kid after hiding it from my family for years. I went off of antidepressants my senior year of high school, but as a college senior, I'm debating whether or not to go to counselling sessions to figure out what's going on with me mentally.
First of all, I want to give you kudos for being so self-aware and seeking help. When I was younger, it was a series of others letting my parents know something was wrong before I got any sort of help. While all I can offer is my personal experiences from then, the doctor's visit and the first psychologist visit were both very fact-based - they asked me questions about how I felt interview-style and made a plan from there. Questions like how long have I felt this way, when did I typically feel better or worse, what ways did I consider committing suicide, etc. My doctor was extremely nice, and the psychologist was very straightforward. I was very wary of therapists and counselors growing up, which I think clouded my judgement of her, but in retrospect I think she was a really nice person. I ended up needing medication, so that was primarily what my subsequent visits focused on. I resisted all of it very strongly at first, because I still didn't want to admit that I needed help, but it helped me so much. I wish I could offer more perspective about being institutionalized or held for observation. All I know is that I was never forced to. I'll upvote this in hopes that somebody else will see it and help you out.
Again, kudos for going out there and getting what you need. Depression is so hard to fight against, but half the battle is admitting that you're fighting something. May you find the coping skills that you need and get the help that will make you feel like you again. If it helps at all, I saw this app called Calm Harm featured online today - it helps with preventing self harm, and it's password protected, so people handling your phone can't open it by accident. I highly recommend you check it out: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.org.stem4.calmharm&hl=en .
Best of luck out there, dude. Keep fighting the good fight.
