And I always use Facebook only on incognito mode. If you are always connected to your Facebook account on the web page, it tracks you even when Facebook web isn't opened, through the like buttons embedded on some pages. They notify Facebook the pages you visit

I had been using Swipe Pro for a long time, and was quite happy with it, but recently it seems to have died.

As an alternative, you can use the Friendly for Facebook app. It's 3rd party app which uses the web-interface in the background. It also supports other social media.

I've tried Simple for Facebook for a while but I didn't like how it automatically set all my notifications as readed, which Friendly doesn't do.
I've previously used Friendly which has IAP for removing ads, but am currently using Frost (also available on F-Droid) which is ad free without IAP. I prefer Frost as I've found any links I open within the app are also without ads, but with Friendly only my Facebook feed had the ads removed. N.B. both are wrappers for Facebook mobile.

Just use a wrapper because both the official Facebook App and the official Facebook Messenger are known battery killers. There are many wrappers on the Play Store. I currently use Friendly for Facebook. It's low resource, has theming and dark mode, supports messaging and notification, can upload photos and videos and full reaction support.
Yeah, I thought about switching chrome, but I really like the sync with my account and my other devices. And I don't want to use another browser for all of my devices because the chrome flags are super useful. So for now, I think chrome will be my browser because of functionality and comfort.

I use FB.. there are alternatives to the FB app I mean. The official is indeed a horrible malware which also eats your battery and ram.

I'm pretty happy with my current results from the blocking available with the paid version of Friendly.
It's an arms race of sorts. Friendly is currently winning. There have been times in an earlier version where it seemed unable to block effectively.
The app is relatively new and I recently discovered it on this subreddit since I was looking for a Sync for Facebook replacement because I've been having issues with it.

Facebook will always be a battery hog due to all the background tracking. Use a wrapper like Friendly (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.friendly) if you want to limit battery drain and tracking. It also has Messenger and Instagram built in so many birds stoned.
friendly is the closest thing I've found for a Pinterest client. The app acts almost as an ad free browser for social media like Facebook, LinkedIn, reddit, Pinterest, etc. It's quite rough and slow, but once you're logged into Pinterest thru this app, there's hardly any ads, and video posts don't autoplay. The app also has a download feature that allows you to download content off Pinterest that you normally would not be allowed to using the standard Pinterest app.

edit: so many FB replacement apps break Messenger (another intrusive resource hog), but Friendly has always seemed to keep it intact.

On a desktop browser Facebook allows you to chat without installing the Messenger app. So I guess you meant by mobile.

1) you can use the browser based site. unless you are uploading media heavily it is fairly functional and has no footprint when not open.
2) I've used Friendly in the past and never had issues.
I heard that keeping the FB a/c signed in @ chrome was the best way to keep in sync with that godforsaken social media website.

I'm currently using Friendly for Facebook. It's basically a wrapper around Facebook's mobile website, and gives you a modified (better, IMHO) UI along with some additional features, like integrating with Android notifications, being able to sort the news feed by most recent, and an optional ad blocker.
If you're on Android, you could try out Friendly. I switched to it after FB was being a huge battery drain, it's a lot more pleasant to use than FB's cancerous mobile app.
I personally use a Firefox shortcut to my Facebook page and it works pretty good! But if you want a Facebook client you can use Friendly for Facebook ! It is the most beautiful wrapper I know ...give it a try!
For awhile I was using a browser link to Facebook on my home screen, but it made reading messages a pain in the ass. I refused to download the FB or messenger app cause I hated how intrusive and resource heavy they were. Recently downloaded Friendly, and gotta say, been pretty happy with it so far. It lets me use FB the way I want without FB shoving shit down my throat.

It's not purely for Messenger, but I've recently replaced both FB app and Messenger with Friendly. It's the first such replacement that doesn't feel like a compromise to me.
We have similar taste in apps, I would recommend Friendly for Facebook.
It's the best Facebook client in my opinion and I've tried them all. Metal pro, Folio pro, swipe for Facebook etc.

Folosesc Google Now (sau cum se mai cheamă acum) să văd ştirile (ştiu că e ironic) şi la câte articole am mai citit despre Facebook şi tehnicile de colecţie a datelor despre useri (indiferent că au sau nu profil), precum şi despre dependenţa pe care o provoacă deliberat acestora ca să stea mai mult. Aşa că atunci când a apărut informaţia am tratat-o ca pe orice altă ştire de genul, însă după mi-am dat seama de gravitatea situaţiei. Eu însă am început de ceva vreme să iau măsuri (ceva vreme însemnând cam aproape doi ani) ca să limitez ce ştie Facebook despre mine:
- Folosesc o alternativă la aplicaţia oficială (asta) care nu cere aşa multe permisiuni ca aplicaţia oficială. Dacă vrei poţi folosi şi alte alternative. Sau poţi să intri direct de pe browser. Bonus: am mai multă baterie şi mai mult spaţiu din moment ce folosesc serviciul doar dintr-o pagină web
- Nu am folosit Messenger şi pentru SMS-uri. De ce dracu' aş face asta? SMS-urile sunt SMS-uri, mesajele gen imagini sau video le dau în altă parte.
- Pe desktop obişnuiam să am dezactivate cookie-urile la sfârşitul sesiunii, astfel că nu mă mai trackuia prin cookies (poate prin script-urile de pe pagină - pe care nu mă pricepeam să le blochez sau să găsesc ceva să le blocheze - sunt cam techno-n00b oleacă şi nici nu sunt în domeniu). Dar am trecut pe Firefox şi am descoperit Firefox Containers. Când mă întorc pe Opera sper să găsesc ceva de genul şi acolo.
- Am descentralizat chestii: folosesc RSS feeds în loc de feed-ul de Facebook, am deconectat Facebook de la o grămadă de servicii şi încerc să folosesc cont independent şi parolă acolo unde am timp - în loc de social log in.
Ideea e că nu prea ai cum să scapi de tracking fără să îţi faci viaţa mai grea oleacă, şi asta nu ţine numai de Facebook. Trebuie doar să vezi cum e să devi full Stallman şi să vezi dacă şi cât eşti dispus să laşi din confort pentru mai mult privacy. Trebuie numai să te obişnuieşti.
